Winter and the Wolves: An MMM Mpreg Omegaverse Romance

Rate this book
Omegas are rare. Omegas are precious. Winter is so freaking over being an Omega!

All his life, Winter has been kept in a pretty cage to keep him safe. Only Omegas can procreate with anyone, regardless of species or designation, and male Omegas tend to breed powerful Alphas. Since he’s not stupid enough to tempt fate and run away, he lives vicariously through the stories told by his older Alpha brothers. The only time he’s allowed to interact with outsiders is when there’s a ceremony or celebration, but since his twin sister is having a Mating Ceremony, at least this Christmas he’ll get to celebrate with his family…and maybe actually make some friends outside of his pack!

It’s a pain being an Omega!

Alphas are powerful. Alphas are feared. Crag loves being an Alpha!

As Alpha Wolf and King of the Northwestern Territories, Crag Wolfking has everything he could ever want or desire…except for an Omega to breed proper heirs. None of the Omegas paraded before him have called to his Beast, and he won’t settle for less—he doesn’t have to. When he’s invited to attend the Mating Ceremony of one of his generals, however, he comes face-to-face with an Omega who finally calls to his primal side. Merry Christmas to him! Of course, Crag still has to convince the Omega to actually become his—particularly since his Beta, Lord-General Eberhardt, is his bond-mate. That shouldn’t be a problem for a King though, right?

It’s good to be the Alpha!

Winter and the Wolves is a gay triad/polyamorous Omegaverse story, with all the tropes and associated with the genre! For a full list of Tropes & Triggers, please see the inside of the book. It is the first book in the "BreedVerse" series, where the Breed include Shifters, Fae, Vampires, and more!

Winter and the Wolves was previously published on Kindle Vella, but has been edited and expanded with a new epilogue!

small spoiler…and NEEDS an editor

My main issue is how many typos and misplaced/missing words there are in this book. I made it to about 40% before calling it. So many errors took me out of the story, and the terrible claiming scene (no prep whatsoever and just generally didn’t vibe with this style of writing, esp. in the raunchy scenes). I do not recommend this book, and I will not be reading the following book(s) in this series.

Winter and the Wolves is a MMM omegaverse / supernatural fantasy with lots of depth, worldbuilding, fated mates and lots of angst!

While it doesn't feel entirely finished for a standalone (even if it's a interconnected standalone series) due to the somewhat open ending and questions that leaves me with, specifically and only between Summer and Winter, I loved all the characters and the Mikaelson family so much! It makes me curious to more.

This book... I didn't even know existed. I found it on one of the "Stuff your Kindle" sales, and I said... eh, why not? Thank God I decided to download it and decided to read it.

To say that I loved this story would be an understatement. I had 0 expectations, and it made me fall in love. These 3 together are absolute perfection.

There were moments while I was reading this book I got chills, the book was action-packed, and I really loved the plot.

I loved how all 3 of them got together. How they found each other. I loved how each and every one of them was specifically made for one another, and this triad needed to happen. It was written in the very fabric of the universe. There is no Crag without Hardy and winter, and the same goes for the others.

Winter was what Crag and Hardy needed to balance them, show them what life really is about, to put back together their shatter3d pieces through love. Winter needed his mates to finally feel all that love he only dreamed about, to accept his designation fully, and embrace his true power.

I wish we'd have a 2nd book and a 3rd and a 4th about them because one was not enough. I need to see them with Sunny, read about them as a couple more, about their shenanigans.

I will for sure come back and read this book again, because how could I not? It was a 10✨️ for me. 5 is too low of a rating, if you ask me...

Overall, the story isn't bad. But there's not a whole lot of plot...mostly just smut. But I enjoyed the characters. I also think this was the best interpretation of the omega body changes than any other I've read. It was a really interesting take and explanation.

It's in desperate need of another round of edits. There were many times I had to pause and reread a sentence because there were extra words or a few times no end to the sentence. I still don't know if the character's name was Fenrir or Fenris because both were used.

I enjoyed all 3 perspectives at once so I could get to know everyone. But it resulted in a repeat of several scenes which I found unnecessary and it made the story drag. There were also a few times I didn't know who was talking or where they were.

The ending ruined everything, though. It was a fast forward of telling me all this stuff that happened instead of allowing me to experience it.

DNF 41%, and honestly it's a miracle I lasted this long.

There! Are! So! Many! Exclamation Points!

Also, the smut isn't sexy, it's just kind of off putting tbh. Grossly oversized dicks being shoved here and there whether the receiving person is ready or not. Multiple mentions of how it hurts but that's OK because it'll be good soon etc. No thanks.

Sometimes it's v obvious when a book was written by a man, and this was one of those times.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would. Omegaverse stories are really far out of my comfort zone, but this was a freebie on a Stuff Your Kindle Day so I thought I’d give it a try!

Winter was a really interesting character. He was sassy, which I enjoyed, and not afraid to stand up for himself. I didn’t have particularly strong feelings, positive or negative, about Crag or Hardy, though I was quite curious about Hardy’s past, which we learn more about throughout the story.

There was actually less spice in this book than I expected. The initial mating scene does go on for a while (like, across two or three chapters) but then there are several closed door moments and just one more quick little intimate scene near the end. Idk why but u expected more 😂

The plot after the mates have met was actually really interesting. I feel like there’s a lot more going on in the background of this world that we barely scraped the surface of in this novel which could be interesting to read more about in the future.

There are some typos and grammatical errors in this novel. I noticed change of tense, spelling errors, several unnecessary inclusions “the” before a character’s name, and some of the German words were misspelled (there is both German and French at various places in this story). It didn’t detract too much from the story, but I know other reviews have pointed out that the book needs editing, and I think it probably should’ve been proofread a little more carefully. That being said, I did still enjoy the story despite noticing these errors throughout.

a MUST HAVE if you love Mpreg Omegaverse!!!

I love the fact that this is not your typically Omegaverse book. Although there is nothing wrong with classic cliches, the fact that Winter is such a headstrong omega that, if you don’t watch out can hand your butt back to you is refreshing. He is full of sass, áss, and everything nice 🤭, while trying to deny with all his being who he truly is. Is not until he is joined by the grumpy (yet totally adorable, but don’t tell him) beta and the domineering (yet childishly cute at times) alpha that the journey starts until he finally can love who he was born to be wholeheartedly and understand that he can still be his own person —sass and all—, while still loving his soft, vulnerable sides. Having lots of orgasms by his mates also helps 🤣🤣🤣

What to expect in this book:
✨Omegaverse Mpreg
✨Poly/Triad (MMM)
✨Wolf Shifters
✨Paranormal Age-gaps (we all love these 🤣)
✨Breeding Kink (and all that implies, not limited to biting, growling, howling and all that)
✨possessive MCs (yes, all of them hahaha)
✨HEA (this is the most important for me 10/10)

Hope you guys give this book a chance and hope this review helps you to love it as much as I did!

This was a lot more fun than I expected it to be.

Usually with these MM omegaverse stories, there are few surprises, and up until the 70% mark, Winter and the Wolves was no different.

However the final quarter introduced some really interesting world-building characters that elevated the story for me. Sadly, we don't really get much more than a glimpse of these side characters in the actual book, which was a shame.

I enjoyed the writing style, it was engaging and easy to read (despite the exclamation points) and it kept the tone light-hearted.

The characters were a mixed bag. Of the three main wolves, I liked Hardy the best as I felt he had the most depth. Crag (stupid name) had the least, in my view.

There also wasn't much consistency in his leadership - one minute he was a growly king with full autonomy, the next he's one of many on a council?? I didn't quite get it.

Finally, I wasn't a fan of the smut - it leaned a bit too heavily on size difference kink and "painal" during penetration scenes so I found myself wincing more than anything - but it wasn't badly written, just not to my taste.

3.5 stars for an entertaining read

Patience is needed but Damn this is good

The 1st few chapters are written a little wonky. I'm not sure if it's because it was originally written in another language or if the author was just getting a feel for what her story was going. However I highly recommend you look past the 1st clunky chapter because this is an amazing world building story. Breath taking and all in compassing and the way it describes this world. The main character is even the supporting castor Breath taking and all in compassing and the way it describes this world. The main character is even the supporting cast are overly beautiful. The Character development development is amazing.

The intrigue And drama is not drawn out but fast paced and ever developing. The witty banter will have you laughing out loud Because this is 1 spicy omega. And by spice I mean wowza 🌶🌶🌶🌶🌶

Best saga read of the year, so far

A roaring good time!

4.5

My first book by this author, won’t be my last. Loved the omegaverse elements in this story and the fact that it was MMM with an A/B/O combo. The fact that the A/B already had an established relationship and were going through that emotional mental angst of what would happened if/when the alpha found is omega added a nice depth to the story.

Loved the extended family members getting up to mischief and the spice was spicing without being OTT, which can sometimes happen in omegaverse books.

I was wondering where the conflict was going to come from as we entered the second half of the book and was surprised at the angle it popped up from. Kept things moving quickly towards the end and introduced us to characters that I would enjoy reading about in further books.

This book contains mpreg, and while the omega is pregnant on page, the birth is not.

Good story

This is a very good beginning to the series. It has great characters and the world building is detailed enough to be understandable *and* believable. I look forward to more installments.
I do have to complain about all the mistakes, though, and I hope that more effort is put to cleaning up the writing going forward. Most errors in this one are plenty big enough for a proofreader or editor to have caught, such as the sister being described as “dark and swarthy” then later described as having light blonde hair, and the several unfinished sentences that just cut off in the middle of a thought. These things are distracting from story flow, and annoying, but at least the majority of the story is clear enough. So…Try to ignore the errors so you can enjoy a fun story. It’s worth the read and I’ll be looking for the next one!

DNF @59%

I really wanted to like this one because there were very interesting designation dynamics, like folks being able to will themselves into a different destination, but ultimately, the pacing was really bad and I was bored out of my mind. There was also a plethora of typos and the whole book could seriously benefit from a thorough edit.

Alpha, Beta and Omega Triad

Fantastic book which I absolutely loved and would thoroughly recommend hoping that others enjoy it as much as I did. Winter is a rare Omega male wolf the youngest of seven having five older Alpha brothers and a twin Omega sister. Winter loves to cook and is definitely not your typical Omega being very buff and not taking any nonsense from others. Crag is the Alpha King and has his Lord General Hardy as his Beta second but also his lover of many years. What happens when they go to the wedding of Winter’s sister and both Crag and Hardy scent their mate who happens to be the sassy Winter. Cab these three people be together especially with the prejudices of others? What about when Winter gets abducted, can his mates rescue him?

Sizzling, Sexy, and Sincere

Honestly, I really enjoyed this book! The pacing, the plot, and the characters all seem to fit just right and scratches an itch I didn't even realize I had. I'm a huge fan of the dynamic of the main throuple, the supporting characters breath life into the world around our trio, and the world building is just subtle enough to not feel heavy handed but present enough to fill in the gaps and explain why things are happening the way that they're happening.

I'm interested in seeing more of this world. I wish we spent a little more time with the throuple as a throuple; if there's future works, I'd love to spend more time with them.

Cartoonishly bad. Fangs the size of sabers, seriously? And wolf shifters in possession of magical eardrums:

The howl that thundered through the lodge that evening could be heard hundreds of miles away. It would later be reported in the human news as a strange weather phenomenon, a sonic boom that caused electromagnetic disruptions throughout the region. The humans didn’t understand what they heard, no more than they truly understood the depths of a wolf’s howling, yet it resonated with their primordial instincts of fight, flight, or freeze.

Was hoping for something but I knew I was gonna hate it but I was 10% expecting some drama like the omega rejecting the alpha because of the beta love interest instead it turns into a poly smut weird kink. Like I don’t mind if you’re into books like these but I honestly don’t find the idea of loving multiple people attractive. It’s a turn off. Maybe I’m wired differently but I can’t fathom the idea of loving someone and loving someone else at the same time.

Repetitive, cheesy, and nowhere near spicy enough.

It was a sweet story, but it's missing so much and gets cheesy too often. I could never get a solid read on the personalities of the MCs. Most of the best spice potential was skipped over. There were numerous grammar issues throughout. And too much time was spent on repeated statements about omegas not being weak, as well as on the omega MC's family chitchatting.

Winter was at times not your typical Omega and those scenes had me liking him more. I did feel that some things were overlooked and rushed especially the ending. I loved Winter's family and their antics had me laughing.
With the 3 POV at times I did have to slow my reading so I did not get confused who POV it was. I am interested in Val's story which was teased at the end but at this present time, I cannot find it

This was a good story. I enjoyed the plot and characters. However, it really needed better proofreading. So many mistakes! Sentences that just ended seemingly in the middle with no punctuation. Names spelled multiple ways. Words used incorrectly. With some more polish it would have been a much better read.

Must read for bl lovers

This book was a gripping piece of art. It flowed flawlessly. The characters were delightful and I loved the dynamics between them. For a triad story this one really made the we are all equals point clear. Loved their was no favorites. The villains were also not cardboard and has meat to their characters. Insuring you too dislike them .

Queer paranormal ABO romance. I almost DNF’d this book on multiple counts from implicit misogyny to incessant typos to unimaginative writing. Yet, the writing was so poor, so expletive-ridden, and so filthy that this book was an amusing read. Will not be reading on in this series or from these authors.

2.5 stars could have been higher if the proofreading and consistency of the prose was better. There were some parts that were so strange and out-of-place, like the Mate Hunt thing and the dubcon claiming scene that didn’t have to be so. And it’s surrounded by all this fluffy-cheery baking and family scenes that make for a weird contrast.

The story was the usual shifter fare, which I enjoyed. However, if the use of the word “anyways” irks you, like it does me, then don’t read this book. It doesn’t appear the book was proofread, as it’s full of errors.

Winter and the Wolves

It's a fun story, but the whole book is in need of some solid editing; letters missing in names, entire words missing, parts of sentences missing, the wrong words used in random places. And the plot could use a lot of tightening up.

This book was a decent read, but it didn’t fully captivate me. While the premise was intriguing, I found myself wanting more depth or connection to the characters. It had its moments, but overall, it was just okay for me. I’d give it 2 stars.
