Boys and girls are being kidnapped, but there haven't been any ransom calls. The Special Crimes Task Force is already at a disadvantage because they're assigned the case a month after the first child disappeared. The kidnapper has had the chance to perfect his or her method and is able to avoid being seen. All Lieutenant Jake Stalb and his team know is they must stop the abductions and find the kids before they're lost forever. Unfortunately, the F.B.I. ceases full control of the investigation because a detective becomes a suspect. Being barred from the case, the Task Force must decide if they'll follow orders or disobey in order to find one of their own.
Sheila is an independent author who enjoys writing for the sake of writing.
As a novelist, she enjoys creating new characters and situations which reflect life in the real world. Unlike many of the novels in the crime and mystery genres, the novels in both the Detective Jake and Special Crimes Task Force series incorporates stories about the detectives which show what their lives are like beyond the limited scope of their jobs. These subplots relate the struggles and successes of the detectives and their families. In their entirety, her novels relay the process of solving the crimes as well as the personal lives of the main characters as a way to demonstrate there is more to the life of the detectives other than catching the criminals - that there is a life beyond the badge.
She has also has written, and has plans to write, works of non-fiction. Most of the topics will be familiar to a wide range of people.

I started reading Ms. Myer's books a few years back, starting with Detective Jake: The Search for Truth, and have faithfully waited in line for all of her new books ever since!
I have to say this one is my favorite. It is action packed and kept me reading until my eyes started closing on their own. All of the characters play a special part and I especially fell in love with Buddy, a very important three-year old in the book. This was one of those stories that kept me wondering about how it was going to end and Ms. Myer's did not let me down.
To give a brief summary, many children are being kidnapped and time is of the essence to find them and bring them home safely. There are plenty of twists and it's up to the special crimes task force to see that this crime spree is stopped. Can they do it? You'll have to read it to find out.
I liked it so much that I plan on reading this again very soon...and I rarely read books twice!
