This was a solid 3 star read for me. I think this read went a bit slower than all the other ones for me, but I’m not sure why. It was still a cute read, but I’m not sure if it felt slow to me because I feel like there’s less mystery happening and there’s more romance. Hattie and Killion’s romance is something that I’m interested in reading more about, but I’d like more mystery added back into the story. Overall, I’ll still continue reading the series because I’d still like to know more of what happens in Brambleberry Bay.

4 stars!

I love a good cozy mystery! Usually I’m all about them in the fall and winter, but with this one being set in summer, I figured why not read it now. I really enjoyed the latest addition in the Brambleberry Bay Murder Club series. It was super cute as always and just made me feel good. That sounds a bit weird to say considering it’s a murder mystery, but the characters are all so comforting and I’ve grown to love them all. I’m a big fan of the incorporation of the animals. Something about a cat and dog being main characters in a book just makes me happy. I can’t believe Hattie told so many people about her ability. I thought for sure she was gonna keep the secret forever. I did enjoy that her slipping up about her mind reading added another layer to the mystery and conflict in the story. Can’t wait for more books in the series.

That was a lot of fun. And even though it seemed to be an oddly straightforward mystery, that didn’t mean that I was in any way able to outthink it before Hattie nearly became the killer’s next victim (and Killion had an arrest to make). There were some very interesting revelations regarding Hattie’s ability and I’m more curious than ever to see where that line of inquiry is going to lead us. And, as usual, the furry sidekicks absolutely stole the show.

"Practical Guide for Killers" marks the fifth installment in the Brambleberry Book Club series, featuring the intrepid Hattie Holiday. While the series is best enjoyed in sequential order for a deeper understanding, each book stands on its own merits, ensuring a satisfying read even for newcomers. Addison Moore once again proves her mastery of the cozy murder mystery genre, delivering a fast-paced and thoroughly entertaining tale.

One of the standout qualities of Moore's series is its accessibility; each book functions as a standalone, offering readers the flexibility to dive into any installment without feeling lost. "Practical Guide for Killers" is no exception, drawing readers into its addictive storyline from the very first page.

The charm of the narrative lies in its endearing characters, particularly the feisty grannies who add an extra layer of excitement and humor to the proceedings. Despite the twisted nature of the crime at hand, Hattie's unwavering determination to pursue justice keeps the story grounded, ensuring a satisfying resolution.

From quirky suspects to Hattie's loyal circle of friends, the story brims with colorful personalities and unexpected twists. While I managed to deduce the culprit, the journey was enriched by the intricate backstories and motives of each character.

Moore's skillful storytelling had me fully immersed from start to finish, eliciting a range of emotions from laughter to suspense. "Practical Guide for Killers" is a gripping read that hooks you from the outset and refuses to let go, cementing Addison Moore's status as one of my favorite authors in the genre.

If one has the ability to read minds and wants to keep it a secret, one should be careful of their interactions with others. Hattie Holiday has that ability as a telesensual. She can hear the thoughts of those around her as well as her animals, Cricket the cat and Rookie the dog. So far, no one but her cousin who shares her ability knows her secret, but Hattie has been letting things slip lately. First, Peggy & Clarabelle, the fun loving octogenarians at the country club realize Hattie’s got an inside track to the thoughts floating around. She tries to play it off as a party trick, but eventually comes clean. But what will happen when her boyfriend, Detective Killian Maddox, puts the clues together? Hattie can only hope that finding a killer will help distract him. Especially since his mother is one of the suspects. And with her ex, Duke, back in town as the new coroner and dating her perpetually dissatisfied boss, Peyton, as well as a secret admirer leaving her pricey gifts, her brother hiding an explosive secret, and keeping her sister away from a married, disease spreading lech, Hattie has enough to worry about. Not to mention that the Murder Club is excited to have an open case to focus on. Summer is definitely heating up in Brambleberry Bay.

Addison Moore’s cozies are page turning, laugh out loud fun. With cute pet sidekicks, quirky heroines, and a slew of interesting side characters, you’re sure to get lost in the zany highjinks and twisty plots. Cricket and Rookie steal hearts and the show with their shared teddy bear, Jolly Bear, riding shotgun. Grab a Holiday lobster roll and enjoy a mini vacation in Brambleberry Bay.

It is pouring down rain right now making this book the perfect escape. the author does an amazing job of making Brambleberry Bay come alive. Her descriptions of the sun setting and the warm temperatures helped improve my mood on this dreary day.
The mystery is another well written with a staged accident and a plethora of suspects. Admittedly one of them stands out and you actually hope he is guilty. I won't give away my motive for cheering against this guy but it becomes pretty obvious from the jump.
We also get plenty of amusing moments from the bathroom apocalypse to the ladies at the restaurant. While the smoothies sounded gross that brought no end of giggles as I read about the bathroom race. Hattie is also outed and that also leads to hi-jinks and a moment or two of trepidation. Killian is truly the perfect guy, hot or so we hear and understanding no matter where Hattie lands herself. The book would not be complete without the furry ones and their stuffed friends. Like the country club crowd, we all aah-ed when they did something extra cute.
Finally before we close the book on this book, we have another murder. I hope that means we are setting up for another book because i want this series to continue. I may be getting ahead of myself but a wedding or two in Brambleberry Bay would be awesome.

Brambleberry Bay
Hattie Holiday, 30ish, event planner for the local Country Club is with her friends, Peggy and Clarabelle, 80ish, at the summer party. She's to meet up wih her boyfriend, Homicide Detective Killion Major Maddox.Unfortunately that also mean her boyfriend's mother is along also. That woman keeps trying to foist other women on her son. Why doesn't she like Hattie? As she is walking she comes upon a dead body. She was doing so well with not finding bodies now her good record is broken. She calls Killion and when he shoes up so does her boss and another man...her ex boyfriend. After some manly inner snarls, they get to work. At the morgue where they find out her ex is the new coroner. After some info sharing, Hattie figures out it's murder. Now the hunt is on. And happily (?!?) for her the two grannies are there to help along with her cat and Killion's dog. The unfortunate problem is that there seems to have been an issue between the deceased and her boyfriend's mother. Oh joy!! To make matters worse, she keeps getting gifts from a secret admirer. At first she thought it was her boyfriend, but it wasn't. Sigh!! The Murder Club (AKA Book Club) is now open! The hunt is on. Who will be the murderer? Will they get the suspect before KIllion?
A fantastic and sometimes giggle story.

Highly entertaining! How cute is that cover? I love everything Addison Moore writes and this book is no exception. Hattie is transmundane which to her is a tad embarrassing as she can hear other’s thoughts….ok you say so what’s embarrassing about that? The answering them back! Yup! Her friends are getting suspicious of her parlour tricks. Ok but what if it’s a killer just got in your head? Not even Killian her boyfriend knows her secret and now even he’s suspicious….To top it all off Hattie’s ex who dumped her is now the new coroner of Brambleberry Bay… dead body ✔️cue a murder, a killer that runs his mind loose ( as opposed to tongue) and we have a couple of cute pet sidekicks that Hattie the amateur sleuth can also communicate with . Oh and throw a grumpy homicide detective in the mix and we got a killer party….Did I mention recipes ? I didn’t mention recipes did I ? Where’s my head at.? Really ! Anyway it’s a good job our amateur sleuth can keep her head . Looking down and following those clues to stop this murderer in his/ her tracks Brilliantly quirky, great characters that are cosy familiar. Solid narratives and the descriptors are Purrfection! out with a bang

Practical Guide for Killers is the fifth book in the Brambleberry Book Club series. This series can be read in order for the best comprehension but can be read as a stand alone book without the feeling of missing too much. This series focuses on Hattie Holiday.
Hattie just recently started working at the country club and has made a habit of finding bodies since she started. But that isn’t her only quark, she can read minds. Not all minds and not all the time. But this quark has come in handy to help her kind the killers, although the very good looking detective isn’t too happy about her involvement.
It is almost the Forth of July and of coarse at event at the country club and near by beach Hattie has everything all lit up and decked out for a good time. But one of the evening’s guest won’t live to talk about the night. The suspect pool gives Hattie a good size group to question. Will she find the killer before they catch her?

Loved this newest book in the Brambleberry Bay Series. Hattie is kind of in "a pickle". She is transmundane and can hear what people are thinking. She's kept it a secret from everyone, including her boyfriend, Killian. She starts answering some questions that her friends Peggy and Clarabelle thought in their heads. She excuses it by telling them she's doing a "party trick", so of course they want to learn too. Complicating matters is a "big surprise", her old boyfriend, who dumped her, has moved into town. It seems like he might want to start things up again, and he's the new town coroner!! So, lots of things are happening including a murder... And now, Killian seems to be getting suspicious about her ability to answer questions too! How is she going to make her way through this mess???.

4th of July Bang!

Book 5 in the Brambleberry Bay Murder Club was great! Its nearly the birthday of America, and Hattie is hard at work to get ready for the big 4th of July celebration at the country club. But before of that, the country club was hosting a summer BBQ and she finds another body. This time, it was the body of Jane who handles the books for a lot of companies in town. Hattie is determined to figure out who the killer is, but as always there are a couple of wrenches that get thrown in her way. 1st is that Peggy and Clarabelle have figured out her secret, and Killion is asking all sorts of weird with her, AND her ex boyfriend ends up being the new county coroner.

Loved this book – cant wait to see what happens next now that her secret is sorta out!

Back to Brambleberry Bay we go with Hattie Holiday, Killion a homicide detective, a book club, and a couple of cute, furry detective helpers. As a telesensual, Hattie must guard her secret of being able to read minds. She unwittingly revealed her secret to 3 people. Now not only is she trying to catch a killer by the 4th of July festival, but she is being bombarded to help the love lives of 2 who know her secret. The fireworks arent the only things to go out with a bang this summer, but so does a body. The secrets uncovered along the way help Hattie find the killer, and uncover the secrets the killer knew about other Brambleberry Bay residents.

This was an entertaining quick read cozy murder mystery story. Hattie has the ability to read minds which helps her as she tries to find the murderer. However trying to keep this ability secret from others proves difficult. This story has several fun quirky characters, some whom are Hattie's friends and other are suspects. I guessed the guilty person but enjoyed the back stories for everyone's motives. I have not read any other books in this series and did not feel I missed any important background.

Killer secrets!

Hattie Holiday is preparing the country club for a spectacular 4th of July celebration. She's thankful that she hasn't stumbled over any corpses lately, even though she enjoys working in a murder case with her handsome boyfriend Killion, that will soon change. Another murder, secrets revealed, and a change in Killion’s attitude will add an element of chaos to the holiday.

Peggy and Clarabelle are crazy and I love the mental image of Jolly Bear riding on Rookie’s back! What a fun series. I received a free copy but my review is honest and voluntary.

another fun read that combines the antics of criminally cute critters woth the shenanigans of the wealthy and wacky country club world a young psychic finds herself working in

the pet companions are adorable and insightful. the country club membership a bit classist and entitled, with some odd habits and prejudices - and murder is a bad incidental hobby

the misplaced young librarian and psychic finds herself in the events planning team working with a few friendly folks, and a whole lotta crazy - and some lethal- folks

quirky and funny and insightful whodunnit and mysteries

Adorable cover! This book was a fun one to read even with a murder. It had furry friends and recipes, how can you go wrong with those treasures?! So many laugh out loud moments with a good bit of drama too. As usual, superb writing, I was totally entertained. I loved all the twists and turns even if I saw some of them coming. I hope there are many many more books to come in this series.

Hattie and the gang are attending a 4th of July party at the country club when one of the guests keels over before the night is over. It's up to her and the Murder Club to find out who committed the murder. One irregular mind reader, two quirky octagenarians, a couple of pets, and a suspicious detective all make this cozy mystery entertaining.

Brambleberry Bay seems like such a lovely place to visit but don't be fooled. Hattie uses her mind reading techniques to solve a murder while trying to keep her secret skill hidden. There are many twists and turns and of course two of the cutest pet sidekicks who assist. This can be read as a standalone.

Hattie, not only can read other peoples unspoken thoughts, but, her dog and cat talk to her as well. She has a knack for coming across dead bodies, and, no matter how hard she tries not to..well, one shows up at the clubs beach party. Her book club ladies are becoming murder sleuths and are over eager to solve any murder. This one is no exception.

I've grown to love Hattie as much as the other heroines in Ms. Moore's books. She's smart, funny, and too brave for her own good. Jasper is great hero. Down to earth and just a little grumpy. Wonderful book with twists, turns, and laughs!.

Another delightful fun murder mystery for Hattie, Killion and the fur babies to investigate. Hattie's abilities once more put her in danger from not only the killer but also of having her abilities discovered. Good storyline with lots of fun interactions. Really enjoyable.
