An excellent, short exploration of life’s big questions. Andy Bannister (a friend) and Gavin Matthews are general editors and, along with eight other authors take on questions about happiness, good and evil, beauty, curiosity, loneliness, sex, love, justice, suffering, and purpose, among many others. Each of the 28 questions has a short exploration—about 1,000 words—and in each, the authors find hope and answers in God through Christ.
It’s an excellent meditation on life’s big questions, reminding us that we are made for more than this world. Well worth the shot read.
Have you ever wanted a book to address not just the typical questions about faith and Christianity but also the big questions of our day? Have you Ever Wondered? is that book! It clearly and concisely addresses questions like: why are we drawn to beauty? Why do Black Lives Matter? Why is loneliness so difficult?
A perfect book to read with a friend who is curious about these questions so you can learn together.
* I received a copy of this book for free but was not required to give a positive review.
This is a very accessible book that asks us to consider those areas of life and existence where we cannot help wondering if there is something more out there. Each of these is a signpost that points to God. The book follows a similar thought process as “The Air we Breathe” by Glen Scrivener, while briefly covering many more topics, almost as tasters. It is well written based on short chapters (usually 4-6 pages) that are easy to get through and understand.
Brilliant. Short, clear and engaging chapters on important wonderings and question, that make this book great for: 1. Any adult or older youth interested in Jesus and Christianity 2. Any adult or youth Christian wanting to see how the gospel of Jesus impacts their whole lives for the better 3. Any adult or youth Christian who wants the confidence to share the good news of Jesus into the lives of others.
I happened to go to one of Andy Bannister's talks around the time this book was released and he described it a bit like a tract. At the time I thought that was crazy, how can a fully fledged book be the equivalent to a tract, well it is. It looks at the core questions people have about life and flips them around to be about God. About why we're here and God can do with us.
It's a good read and now that I've read it I feel more equipped to recommend it to others who are exploring faith.
28 short chapters exploring key questions to any person's life - you can dip in to any question you want or read it in full. Worth a read if you're curious about Christianity, a Christian yourself, or just need answers about life
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and it really did look at the random questions that I've considered in the past. This is a unique first book for new Christians, but it is effective while also being gentle and understanding. Would recommend to everyone!
I enjoyed this wizz through some common questions about life, with solid pointing towards the Christian faith. would work excellently as a book given to others, especially inquisitive young people.
