I have so much to say but because I'm the only one here, I wouldn't go on full ramble and save it for twitter to see. I would just keep it short here.
1. I swear, you wouldn't regret reading this. For any reason you started this book, you WILL ended up falling in love with Duan Feifan and Jiang Kuo. Not. A. Lie. 2. I love how much of a breathe of a fresh air was this. Their characters are very realistic. Their friendship is soooooooo heartwarming. Their familial bond is so deep. What I'm trying to say is that even all the side characters are insanely realistic but still fall in the range of lovable way. 3. The flow of the plot, the pacing, the conflicts are all very very very great. You all who come here already know Wu Zhe and know what a great of a writer they are, so I won't say much. But trust me. This one, will NOT disappoint you either. It's just too good 4. Their relationship is progressing in a way that feels like actually a medicine to me. They have conflicts, it was all raw, and Wu Zhe didn't beat around the bush in acknowledging it and trying to make the characters fix it. If any of you have doubts about their relationship in the middle? Trust me, you are up for a REAL treat by the end.
This book is so so so so great. I love the characters so much. I love this book so much. I can't even put my eyes down because I'm obsessively reading this. It was just too good.
If you need something to heal your wounded soul, please continue. You are up for a REAL REAL REAL REAL treat.
5/5. No doubt
(Originally wanted to put my favourite scene as a snippet here, but since I can't give spoiler as the only reviewer... Twitter will see it lol)
big segment: this segment is reserved for my big gratitude to the translators who worked hard to give this out to the world. thank you. thank you. I can't imagine a life without reading this in a proper language
Gu Fei and Jiang Cheng's cameos were everything to me. They appear like 3 times at the later third of the book, so don't expect them to be super relevant; I just missed them a lot and I was gladly surprised they got a minor rol here lol.
This book is very light and sweet, funny as fuck too, but also realistic and there is some angst but nothing compared to Sa Ye
I just love Wu Zhe's writing. I probably will be reading something from her again next lol
Such a warm and wonderful slice of life danmei. This is my new comfort read, I fell in love with Jiang Kuo and Duan Feifan so quickly, honestly this is just happiness trapped in a book for me. I love how well thought out all the characters are and all the conflicts are very human, very real problems. I also loved how the class difference between the two main characters was addressed, all the conversations around it were really interesting and nuanced. WuZhe did it again 🤍
