Tom Murphy (born 1935) is an Irish dramatist who has worked closely with the Abbey Theatre in Dublin and with Druid Theatre, Galway. Born in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland, he currently lives in Dublin.

Alice doesn't really live here anymore. Alice lives within her own declining mind.

The play is split into 3 parts - Alice at 25, witty and almost schizophrenic, in a fast and dazzling display of mental powers; Alice at 40, reacquainting with her first love, who turns almost homicidal at his latest rejection; Alice at 50 in an airport, waiting for her son's body to be returned from overseas after a tragic accident and ignoring her boring, rich husband,
