Barnyard Bully is about the importance of friendship and is told by the animals that live on a farm. It begins when a small horse named Jake arrives at the farm and turns to bullying to try and fit in. Through a course of events Jake finds himself in terrible danger and badly in need of friends. Barnyard Bully offers excitement, humor and insight into the daily lives of the barnyard buddies while teaching about friendship and lessons learned.
Won this book from GoodReads. I really enjoyed this book of how a Horse was a bully in a barnyard and later on found out that the way you treat someone will be the way you will be treated. He needed help and no one wanted to help him for being a bully. It's a great book to read to Elementary students. It's hard fitting in at school, work and society at times. People who are lonely and have been mistreated will tend to be a bully because it's there way of standing up for themselves and showing people that they are the leader, while oppressing all the fears and hurts. There has been a number of suicides in the past years because of people getting bullied at school. Kids and teenagers want to fit in and not look like an outcast. They want to be with the popular crew so that they are accepted. I enjoy this book because Donna added references about different animals. The cover really reflected the characters in the book. Thanks for sharing your book I loved it. I recommend this book.
Barnyard Bully was a great book for kids to read. In today times it seems that bullying happen quite a lot. This book tells us what bullying is about and how it won't help to make friendships or friends. The best part is that the book is short so a child will read it and not lose interest. There are also facts that children will enjoy reading too. Enjoyed the writer and will pass this book on to my Grandkids.
I won this book in the first reads giveaway. I read it with my son and he absolutely loved it! He is eight and it was a great example of how we can tell when someone is being a bully and how we can help. It was very well written and our favorite part of the book was all of the different facts about actual animals. There was an interesting fact about a different farm animal at the end of each chapter. We loved the book and I'll be saving it for when my girls get old enough to read it!
#GoodReadsGiveaway #GoodreadsFirstReads Fabulous story on bullying anyone at any age can relate to. Great read for elementary school kids. Not to mention a good book for parents to read to their younger kids. I look forward to passing it on to a five year old boy I know.
"The next day after the horses were put out to pasture, Bucky didn't even offer to run behind Bud and Smokey. What was the point? Jake and he grazed together, while Bud and Smokey grazed on the other side of the pasture.
"Who does he think he is anyway, Smokey?" Bud muttered under his breath. "We were here first! He just can't come in and change everything."
"I feel your pain, man. Look at him over there, grazing in our spot with our friend like he owns the place! What a bully," Smokey whined."
This book did nothing for me. It wasn't especially charming, it was completely predictable, and I don't feel like the lesson on bullying was really one that kids would relate to and learn from. The new horse Jake isn't the only bully in the story. The other animals were fairly horrible, who would want to be friends with bossy Bud and his weak-willed goons? The "solution" to the bullying wasn't one that kids would be able to use either, unless the schoolyard gets attacked by wild dogs. I don't remember having too many life and death situations in my days at grammar school, unless one took a particularly bad spill off of the monkey bars that is.
