I really liked this book because I wanted to know how Jordan became the greatest player. It's about his childhood of playing basketball and baseball. I would give this book to anyone who likes biography.
The first thing I like about this book is that it starts with how Michael Jordan good at first and how he became the greatest player of all time. Michael Jordan career in high school he was good but not good enough. He failed a couple times to get where he is right now. By the end of his career he had won 6 NBA Championship rings. I know this because it talks about his life and how he is right now. The theme to this book is his hardwork. He is known for all his accomplishments, which is his hardwork and excellence on the court.
What I dislike about this book is that I think Bill Gutman should have written how the college teams recruiting him. I wondered if college teams came and watched his games
The setting is an important aspect of this book. The setting is the basketball court because that was where he made magic and his mark on history. This book has a couple settings: North Carolina, Chicago. These places are where he started and ended his basketball career.
I think a lot of people would like this book because it imforms you that people who are the greatest in sports fail plenty of times to be great but learn from their mistakes.
Is Michael Jordan the best basketball player? Is he really the greatest of all time? Those are the questions I was asking myself after reading this incredible book. Not only did it give me knowledge on Michael Jordan but it also gave me knowledge about the game of basketball. It showed what kind of mentality it takes to be considered the best. It also gave stories like Michaels experiences with college basketball and even goes further into telling us about his highschool career, which i found very interesting myself being a highschool basketball player. Overall I would highly recommend this book and will be looking forward to the Michael Jordan Documentary on Netflix coming out later this year!
Brandon Hepp Ms. Emmett English 10 5 April 2013 The non-fiction book "Michael Jordan: A Biography" by Bill Gutman is a very interesting biography of the life and career of the great Michael Jordan. The book recaps the highs and the lows of the life of the infamous Michael Jordan. Michael grew up in bBrooklyn were he eventually moved to Wilmington, North Carolina. At first, the best basketball player to ever play the game struggled as a kid to make his 7th, 8th, and even 9th grade basketball team. After a lot of hard work and dedication, Michael Jordan finally made the team as a 10th grader were he eventually went on to be a McDonalds All-American and play on the court he would eventually play his NBA career on in Chicago. He eventually went on to play at the University of North Carolina. The funny thing is, the best player to ever live even got cut in high school. Michael played at UNC were he won a national championship and eventually was the 3rd overall pick in the NBA draft. The book recaps the 6 championships that he won with the Chicago Bulls along with other things about the personal life of Michael Jordan.
As a reader of this book, you can learn a lot of new information. First, the readers can learn the information about Michael as he grew up on the streets of New York city, where he eventually moved to NC and had a bad struggle. You can also learn some very interesting information about how he retired from the NBA 3 times before he finally came to the conclusion to finally retire, you can learn why he retired all three of these times in this book. This book gives you a great information on Michael going through college and his NBA with information that you may not of known about Michael Jordan. Last, the most important information you can get from this book is that he has a section in it about how you should never give up on your dream and the struggle you did not known about Jordan.
I would recommend this book to my peers for a few reasons. The first reason that i think my peers should read this book is because it can inspire many young people that have not achieved there goals, but this book can help you get motivated to stay with it, and never give up. Another reason i would recommend this book, is because it is a very interesting non fiction book to read, where you can learn a lot of information on one of the games best. These are too good reasons why you should read this great book.
I think that the book was a great book to read it is all about him doing sports like baseball, basketball, and golf and his life and he got injured in one of his games
the book started of pretty slow. When michael got into college it started to be okay. I'm not really a fan of basketball so it was only decent. I recomend this book to anyone who like basketball.
