A rich, footloose and carefree bachelor becomes guardian to his best friend’s two young boys. Loyalty to his friend means Archie is now responsible for these two orphaned boys, but he hasn’t a clue how to relate to kids, much less raise them. He and his brother had been an unwanted and unloved additions to the life of his wealthy parents. Shuffled around, ignored and left to themselves throughout their childhood, Archie had no idea about parental love and support, though his friend had talked about his love for his family often. His brother had found llove and is married, but Archie has skirted commitments of any sort.
The first thing he has to do is find a place where he and the boys can live, then hire someone to care for these two little boys, a live-in nanny. Archie had spent most of his adult life wandering the globe, hoping to find something or someone that could fill the void in his life. He isn’t sure the boys would fill that void, but he will make sure they are cared for to the best of his ability. It is his brother who suggests that Archie hire Beth, his sister-in-law, to be a nanny. Beth, a single mother of a young daughter, has never liked Archie. His wealth, his constant flitting about the world and nonchalant, carefree attitude just plain bother and irk her. Currently, she is struggling to make ends meet and desperately needs a job, though she hadn’t been looking to return to being a nanny. Archie puts all of his charm and efforts into convincing her to be the nanny for the boys, making it clear that her daughter is welcome too. She finally agrees.
Neither knew much about the other except the basics, but caring for the children, co-parenting as he calls it, gives them more insight into each other. Archie is transforming into a loving, involved father before her eyes. Beth is the loving, compassionate and kind mother figure he never had growing up. They both see the vulnerable, loving sides that they have tried to hide and protect, and discover that they are attracted to each other. Both have guarded hearts and trust issues, but could they possibly build a future together that is based on their feelings for each other rather than a boss/employee relationship?
This sweet and engaging story was delightful to read.
This is book twenty one in The Last Chance Beach Romance series and it is Archie and Beth’s story. Archie is a playboy and loved to travel he also didn’t do any kind of relationship or commitment so image his surprise when his friend died and left Archie in charge and guardian to his two sons, Jeremy who is 6 and Duncan who is 4 and it left Archie totally out of his depth and not knowing what to do as he never wanted children and didn’t know how to deal with them as he never stayed in one place long enough to put down roots so now it looked like he will not only have to buy a house but also look fr a nanny to help him care for the boys. Beth is a single mom to her daughter Ryley and things were hard at the moment as the bills were piling up and Beth needed a job quickly if she wanted to keep her home so when Archie suggested that she work for him and they co-parent she decides to give it a go even though she doesn’t like Archie very much. Will Archie and Beth be able to live in close proximity of each other for the sake of the children and compromise and work together to do the best that they can without it effecting their living arrangements. The more time that Archie and Beth spend together the more she sees a different side to him and just when things seem to be settling down and going well something happens that will put everything that they had built on the line. I really enjoyed this heartfelt and touching story and I look forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
Rich playboy Archie suddenly has two boys to raise, after the death of his friend/their father. Beth is a single mom in some financial difficulty. He needs a nanny - she needs to pay her bills. Enter an agreement to co-parent her daughter and his boys. There are some missteps along the way, but they figure things out, even becoming friends. It's a rather unconventional start toward romance, but such a sweet story. The children are smart and well-behaved, and get along. Archie and Beth have known each other for a while, with his brother being married to her sister. It's fun to see them change their preconceived notions about each other as their relationship grows. Archie is shocked when he hears his friend Keith’s will. He left him his two little boys. Unbelievable. What is he going to do with two kids? He needs a live-in nanny asap. Beth can’t believe what her sister and her brother-in-law plan to help Archie. She doesn’t want to accept it, but if she does, all her problems will be resolved. I liked how living together they started to change the image they had of each other. Both of them had an erroneous opinion about the other. I liked how their love for the children changed their lives for a better one. A very emotional, sweet and fun read. This was a really great story. I enjoyed and the way it unfolded. Archie was a Rich man, no ties, no family. He had a real good friend in college, Keith. Archie received news his friend had died and left his two sons to him. This is where the story really gets interesting. Enjoy Archie finding out what real life is about.
Not a deep book. Just surface characters but plenty of kids! Loved the whole love story. In future books use different names. Grady and Garth were enough to confuse me.
I loved Archie from the beginning and the boys. Beth and her little girl made the family rounded out. I loved the changes in Archie and how he took to being a dad. A good clean read!
I did finally finish this book and it wasn't a BAD book, just an incredibly SLOW book with very little action or plot. I had to MAKE MYself read to the last page
What a brilliant beautiful story. The characters are incredible and the children are amazing with the story line heartbreaking. You’ll love everything about it
