This is just another filler book with the main character half assing things until he gets called out. It is artificial conflict born from pointless delays enforced by a heavy handed author.
I'm losing interest. I understand people who search for ever greater power. It would be more interesting if they had plans to use that power for some great purpose.
If you like epic world-building with seemingly huge story arcs, interesting creatures, and a continuous mixture of science and magic (down to nanobots, molecular structure, etc)... that is brought to you in a story-telling manner that makes you feel like you are in a beige Nissan Sentra on the longest most boring road trip you have ever been on... with endless details about the trip including 2-minute gunfights when you go to the bathroom at the gas station before getting back in the car for more endless driving .. with beautiful scenery that you do not interact with... and the suspense and tension build to about the same level as spilling your HOT COFFEE onto your waterproof rain jacket so it is just a little warm and does not burn you...
and this happens over and over and over for each book. like an anime or TV show that you think will build up some good tension or have some real challenges.. but then you realize not this episode maybe the next episode.
Yeah.. so much potential. so much disappointment when what happens.
Do we see progression in book 5? Yes. In our understanding of the greater world, in Intra Mundum, in our understanding of Titans, and Thorn's capabilities, etc. It also appears that there could be some real challenges for Thorn at some point (at least I wish that was how it turns out).
Will I read the next installment? Yes, I am hooked. Do I expect the format and pacing to change? No, not at all. Will I get my hopes up and be disappointed again? Probably, so.
Personal growth is fickle and as a Titan, its world shaking fickle until you figure it out, then its simplicity
Thorn and his friends are growing stronger as they take on the challenges however Thorn is soon presented with glaring proof of his slacking when he meets a Titan’s image that is disappointed in his strength and progress. As Thorn reevaluates himself and his progress, he is given some advice and pointed criticisms that he cannot make refute. So he does what he does best and set himself and his will to improving where he can and trying to figure out what and how he wants to fight, live and what he feels is his aspect or personal focus should be. Making his discovery and decision has a profound effect upon the world around him and his way of thinking. He has always sought to get better than he was but he hasn’t really been more than dabbling. As he approaches the tenth tier, he learns that must change and he must unify his abilities into a fighting style. He has so many options that he often doesn’t use all that is available to him but is he even using what he has to its fullest potential? He has just been told that no, he emphatically has not and that needs to change before he enters the tenth tier if possible as it only grows more challenging to change habits the further you grow with them.
This book didn’t collapse into multi-chapter single combats, nor repeated the same info over and over, nor did it emphasize Thorn’s growth at the cost to all of his companions.
On the plus side, we got to learn more about the Titan Cycle culture, as well as meet his grandparents. We got to experience Thorn going through a retroactive apprenticeship as a Titan Smith which was way overdue! And his continued evolution of his powers, as well as character sheets — excellently done BTW, we got to see him logically challenged by tier 10 opponents as well as tier 9 god-beasts in a way that felt organic and consistent with the revealed world. The puzzle subspace world was perfect, and it’s sad to see them lose access to it. I hope all their official competitors ended up dying or leaving, to clear the path for the remainder of the team to merely face PvE circumstances instead.
This book was wonderful enough that my first impulse is to immediately reread it again and I haven’t done That for a very long time & never suddenly in the middle of a long series that has had very mixed reviews from me.
Excellently done!

Book 5 of the Tower series. We see Thorn become yet even more powerful. A new powerful foe now opposes Thorn and I like that he is still strong enough to create a struggle. I loved the progress and changes, but do wish that this book had been almost double as there were a lot of other items that the author could have done into. That said that speaks to how well written this novel is. If you cannot image ties as a video game, then you need to read it again. Jump into this series and enjoy.
Seth has really written a great story for us, but small flaws detract from his usually polished work.
A character is named but the name isn't one I recognize. The descriptions of the setting are too short or non-existent. Not up to the standard of previous books.
My other issue is too much time is spent describing every move during every combat.
I have been with this series since the beginning. I am a fan..seriously. The series has a tendency to add extra detail to a terminus and feel that we aren't getting to the story but being side stepped with minutia with this book. I will continue to read, but the pace needs a pick-up. It's still a very good series, I look forward to seeing change.
Not the book, just that I finished and now have to wait for the next one! To make it last, I reread the series. Great character development for all characters. The MC is overpowered but that’s due to genetics. He still has to earn each advancement and must rise to each new superior challenger. I’m so sad. July 10 is two months and 10 days away.
Yeh... Not very surprising, but Thorn continues to grow. His companions do also. He also gets to meet his grandad, which is fun and intriguing. I'm really curious to see where Ring takes this series next. But I'm living the world-building and character development so far.
Once again Thorn and his friends are in danger, it is only through getting stronger and relying on each other do they beat the bad guys. But there are always more bad guys to fight. The book spends some time fleshing out Thorn and Velin"s relationship which is great. Can't wait to start the next book in the series.
Took some time away from this series and world to experience others. This seems to have diminished my awe for this series somewhat. The cadence of the narrator is also surprisingly choppy 😅 Anyway. The world building is still shockingly smart and complex. The plot armor is as thicc as always cuz of course Thorn is absurdly good at everything; including being good at things lol
Amazing series and the last book only continues the fantastic narrative. Worlds and universe with depth. Great characters. MC who is everything an MC is supposed to be. Can't say enough good things about this story.
I marked four stars not five because it ended on a cliffhanger . As a rabid fan, I desperately wait for each new book, so was disappointed. Otherwise really enjoyed the book
This is one of the most well written series that I’ve ever read! It’s so hard to pace myself from burning through it, I’m going to absolutely hate it when it’s over! Great job!!!
I forgot how close to the end of the book I was and I was gaining all that feeling of momentum only for the book to end! It’s a good read, and it’s very interesting how thorn is developing
Good reading with new adventures and characters! Interesting scenarios as the titan progressed to his next major advancement. The earth gang gets back together to start off adventures in a new world.
This is a nice addition to the series. But it felt a little short but that could have been just me. I will say if you've read the stories that preceded this one then you will definitely enjoy this one.
I love and hated it!! I loved everything about it, I hated that it ended on a cliff hanger and I I don’t have the other book ready to immediately read!!😊. Very good! One of the best.
To say the trials and battles that thorn has experienced so far with his battle friends and the learning that they're going through to progress and to see that he meets people of his bloodline that furthers him on his quest
Seth knocks it out if the park once again! Thorn and friends are always a great read and it's so easy to get lost in the story. Looking forward to what's next.
