Eli laatu on laidasta laitaan. Sääli.

This was such a fun series to read! I really enjoyed the mysteries, and I liked trying to solve them with Takeru and Sherdog. I wish there was more, but I thought it wrapped up pretty well.

Another five star read for the Mangaka Yuma Ando and his team. This series I've been following since last year, it made me laugh, it made me cry and it made me continue to turn the pages until I had nothing else to read. I'm going to reread this series very soon because of how much I enjoyed it.

This was a genuine Sherlock and I hope they do a sequel manga because there is so many unanswered questions. But what a fun ride it's been.

Really? Leaving us on a huge cliffhanger like that?

It's been four years since the English translation came out, and five since the original Japanese came out. Anybody else think it's about time for the potential spinoff to come out?

THE STORY SO FAR
The puppy Sherdog-reincarnation of Sherlock Holmes-and his owner Takeru Wajima team up to solve tough cases!! Soon after Takeru is transferred to the London PD's detective division, a woman is found hanging by her neck from the water tower of her apartment building. The death is believed to be a suicide spurred on by a failed cosmetic surgery operation, but as Takeru delves into the case, he is convinced that it is murder. He suspects the doctor at the woman's former beauty clinic and begins to investigate!

I do come across the strangest of books in our local charity shop and this series is one I started after finding the first two volumes.

The premise is simple. The spirit of the master detective, Sherlock Holmes has reincarnated into the body of a rescue dog. Convinced that his adoptive parent Takeru Wajima is in-fact the reincarnation of trusted sidekick Doctor John Watson, Sherlock opens up communication with the now very confused student.

Volume seven continues the trend of concluding the mystery from the end of the previous volume and, once again, starts a new mystery tale. There is also some bonus content, as usual.

With Takeru now a full blooded Detective, he is using his own skills more and more to solve the crimes. Although, he is still led by Sherdog's unique observations. Within the police department is a colleague and rival who is skeptical of Takeru's ability to solve the crimes and has suspicions about the strange bond between Takeru and his pet dog.

This final volume ties up a lot of threads and includes a brief note from the author about the hiatus. There are a few unresolved mysteries and I hope they mange to get this up and running again in the future. 4 stars.

Sherdog
The mixed-breed puppy that Takeru adopted. His true identity is that of the world-famous detective, Sherlock Holmes. When he has the Wajima family's heir-loom pipe in his mouth, he can speak to Takeru. He solves crimes with Takeru, learning about the modern world in the process.

I am so sad that this is it. Not a very satisfying ending, though I still like the volume, for all it's a bit truncated. The play between the MC and his rival/boyfriend is great, though, and that Sherdog likes to pee on people is I guess an interesting kink for him. Still just really fun!

This is such a fun read. It would be exciting to see the story continue as Sherlock and "Watson" continue their detective adventures.

The series finished well and on a possibility that it will return some day. Sherlock Holmes is far better at what it does, but this was a cute, enjoyable series.

I don't really get the point of mentioning Takeru's grandfather. It wasn't that revealing.

I feel both a little disappointed and strangely satisfied with this one.

I mean, I finally got to try solving a real mystery! Except... they didn't really give me all the clues. -_- They also knew who did it before presenting me with various tidbits I might not have been able to see do to panel layout, etc. Plus, Ando-sensei and Sato-sensei told you who did it before you even got all the clues. So... I kinda had to guess based on motive and what struck me as out of place without really "solving" it first...

But it was a real mystery! One we didn't know the answer to at first! Here's hoping the sequel has more of these.

The real disappointment for me wasn't the mystery so much as the ending. I know there's going to be a sequel series (or so Sato-sensei says), but this one just felt incomplete. Normally, even with a sequel, writers try to finish some things up rather than hurl questions at you that weren't posed previously in the series on the last four pages. So this just came across as a sloppy cliff hanger rather than a completed series in its own right.
