The Grizzly Sin, King, is alive! Unfortunately, King not only refuses to help Meliodas, he declares Ban as his mortal enemy for having attained eternal life at the cost of the life of his sister Elaine. During a gripping confrontation between King and Ban, the fearsomely skilled Holy Knight Gila comes bearing startling disaster and devastation!

Oh my, this is getting addicting. I love the Ban story and am not sure what to think about King besides that his character is so cute. At this point, I recommend this series for anyone over the age of 13 who love adventure comics.
While I enjoyed this volume, and while our heroes are finally faced with a foe who requires a bit of effort to defeat, I've realized what bothers me about series like "The Seven Deadly Sins" and "Fairy Tail".
They don't take a lot of time to build the world and the characters, so you're basically just encountering random characters whom you are *told* are of a certain level of strength. There isn't much emotion behind the fights, because you barely know who the people involved are.
I wonder if the same was true about "Naruto" and "Rurouni Kenshin" before them - I have my nostalgia glasses on when thinking of those, so I can't accurately recall how they handled their large casts of characters.

The action keeps escalating and I'm loving it! King kicks so much ass, it's not even funny, and watching the other sins cheer him on is so cute. Going off of that, I'm not much of a shota fan but I adore King and his design. It's so simple yet cute and unassuming, perfect for masking his immense powers. I also love how he turns to mush around Diane, so cute! I feel like he's going to get some great development later on and I am so looking forward to it.
If there's one thing that I loved about this volume and the previous one, however, it's Ban and Elaine's relationship. Shounen action series, or just shounen series in general, either have no set in stone relationships (purposefully left vague so fans can freely ship characters, I guess?) or have tenuous relationships (two people who probably shouldn't be together but are because reasons). What I already love about Seven Deadly Sins is that Ban and Elaine are in an established relationship (I get the feeling she's going to come back) and it's based off of mutual love and respect for each other. To put it mildly, this is super rare and I'm thrilled Suzuki had the courage to take an important character and establish early on that he's in a relationship. Love it, love it so much, thank you Suzuki, you are amazing!
Rant over, loved the volume, can't wait for the rest of the series!
Meh, I wasn't a fan of this one, I found it very flat and super repetitive, honestly the bonus story added was millions ways better than the main volume. That's the spirit I found in V1 and that I adored.
I had a feeling this was a volume only fights based, not many characters in here, and definitely not much world building, yes there's still an encounter with new people but very little space was given to them. It was more of a longer introduction.. Hopefully V5 gets more exciting?
V3 and V4 are a little too stretched in my opinion, a single volume would have worked out better.
Haydut Ban'ın açgözlülük namını nereden aldığını anlatan hikayeyi okuyup da Ban'a karşı fikirleri değişmeyecek pek azdır zannediyorum.

King has joined the gang finally ..! He is lazy ( more like me >_> ) Thought at the beginning he and Ban were fighting while Gila the holy knight ( very strong one actually) is starting a war against the other sins . The end of this volume reveal the reason behind the strength in the new generation of holy knights .
The action continues from the previous volume as our heroes fight the newest Holy Knight to enter the scene, Guila. The action in the beginning of volume four is rather…explosive, sorry I couldn’t help myself! And while Diane and Meliodas fight Gila, the conflict between Ban and King wraps up and some shocking new developments in their characters are revealed. A softer side to Ban is exposed, adding more depth to the Sin of Greed, especially with the bonus chapter at the end. Readers also get to see King in action, learning where the bulk of his strength comes from and the relationship he has to everyone.
After their adventure in the Capital of the Dead, more characters are introduced, adding more diversity to our lie-up and creating conflict for our main heroine. It was really interesting to see a little bit more into the relationship between Meliodas and Elizabeth. Before this volume, their relationship was a little flat. You could see that Elizabeth really respects Meliodas and that she may be developing feelings for him. However, it’s harder to read Meliodas because his personality is usually so calm except for his bouts of perverted activity, which appears to be more joking than anything. In this volume, though, you start to see how much Elizabeth means to Meliodas, but you don’t quite realize why yet, and I find that to be an interesting development for his character.
This volume was a lot of fun! The action was different and fun to follow. I loved seeing more into Ban’s character and how he got his ‘sin’. King is a lovely addition to the team and I can’t wait to see more of his and Diane’s relationship! And the story is unfolding at a rather nice pace as well, though I could do without some of these cliffhangers and have more back story for our Sins!
It was better than the previous but still, nothing extraordinary happened yet. The conflict between King and Ban is solved thanks to Elaine's ghost (King's sister and Ban's lover). King seems to be the strongest among the Sins thanks to his Sacred Treasure. I also like his design and magical power. We learn more about the coup d'etat that happened before and also the Holy Knights. The ending was actually good and it made me curious for the next one.
The art once again steals the show, and it's nice to see the lore built out more. King's explanation regarding how weapons influence the abilities of a magic user was very clear and concise. The manga doesn't overcomplicate things that could be simple and I find that refreshing. Seeing the true power of the Sins with Kings fight was also really cool.
Some of the exposition is very forced here and there though. Some of the power scaling is also quite whacky but the manga has found ways to explain it that makes sense.
Finally, the Ban and Elaine thing is incredibly weird and is the biggest example of a trend of this manga handling relationships very weirdly and playing very loose and fast with ages and age-appropriate appearance. It's quite unnerving that someone thinks it's okay to depict a grown man falling in love with someone he admits looks like a child (so much so that he mistakes a different child for her), just because she's supposedly 700 years old. Pair that with the really unnecessary groping scenes of Meliodas and Elizabeth and you really get a sense that either the author, the culture he hails from or both are seriously warped (it's the culture, this isn't something new in manga and generally is a problem with Japanese culture promoting childlike features in their female beauty standards).
I think the story is starting to go in a positive direction though. Finally, we are starting to have the main antagonists revealed to us. It feels more now that the story has an objective, an end point they're trying to reach, rather than the more monster of the week original structure.
Volume 4 of the manga that was turned into the anime of the same name.
This volume covered the bits from episodes 7 and 8 that the previous volume had not covered. Including Ban and Elain's story. It continued through almost all of episode 9. But stops before Vaizel.
It added in some additional side stories about them looking for information about their sacred treasures and a story of Elizabeth getting captured by Griamore and Veronica and how Meliodas rescues her from that. I enjoy the little bits of them just living and working in the Boar Hat. It's fun nonsense and I enjoy it. The overarching story is pretty dark when you think about it, so the little light-hearted side bits are nice.
This one gets my highest rating so far because the Ban and Elain story is my favorite part of Season 1 and probably my favorite part of the entire run.
They managed not to kill anyone other than a red Demon who you are not supposed to identify as a 'person'. Also not much property damage was caused by our intrepid heroes, a change from previous volumes. The power these Holy Knights and the 7 Deadly Sins wield leaves towns absolutely destroyed.
So that was nice. Will probably take a little time before I read the next book as I really blew through my entertainment fund buying these 4 books.

*I was reading this series because of inertia; but finally I loved this volume.
The good: -The mix between third character narration/fight scene is very dynamic and well done. -Ban story. -The becoming of King. -All the teases to the Seven deadly sin's sacred teasures. -Nakaba rises the right questions in this volume, many mysteries for this series to explore. -Very emotional. -The "One day" chapter is heartbreaking. -Mixing Elaine to the Ban/King rivalry was a great idea. -All the teases to the real identity of Meliodas and his might.
Gosh storming dang it. I was right the first time. Ban, King, their whole dynamic, backstory stuff, they are interesting. And now I have to keep reading. (I mean, Ban is still more or less a jerk, but . . . he's interesting again, mostly for backstory and motivation reasons.)
Also, I'm predicting right here and now that the Seven Deadly Sins end up uniting with the OG Holy Knights against the New Generation. I could be wrong, though.
PROSSIMO.
Selectively ignoring the casual sexual assault on 16-year-old Elizabeth (Which will forever lower my rating a star.5) We finally meet Elaine! Ban and Elaine are super sweet and I love their story. The dynamics between King and Ban, King and Diane, Ban and Meliodas, etc. etc. are so damn entertaining to read!
