A super quick read. This short story lays the groundwork for, what I hope, will be Shea moving to Dublin to take over her grandmother’s pub. I like Dillon’s writing style already and am eager to begin the series. Here’s to cozy, paranormal sleuthing. 🍻

This is a new series from Rowan Dillon, and her first move into “cozy, supernatural mysteries”.
Skye, an American, is a caring, troubled woman who has a chance to start over in her grandmother’s home in Ireland. She is recovering from a tough life in Miami, and overcoming a terrible marriage. This is a new start. New Community, new possible friends, and even a chance to be the person she wants.
If only there wasn’t the murdered man in her yard, and the Irish Fairy Folk around. Plus some people who seem intent on her not being in their little town.
Lots of good action as she pursues the mystery of the murder, without a lot of the grittiness of many mysteries.
Look forward to Rowan continuing the series, and what happens to Skye.

A Mystical Legacy: A Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Prequel (The Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series), my fifteenth read from author Rowan Dillon (a Christy Nicholas pen name). I got this book back in April of 2024 and am just now getting around to reading it as I'm beginning the Skye O'Shea series. An enjoyable short 30-page read, well-written with a well-developed primary character. “I received a complementary Kindle copy of this book am reading it & voluntarily leaving a review." The gifting of this book did not affect my opinion of it. I look forward to reading more from this author with Bogs, Brews, and Banshees (The Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series Book 1) next on my TBR list. The intriguing novel "A Mystical Legacy: A Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Prequel" by Rowan Dillon and Christy Nicholas blends magic, mystery, and Irish charm. In the charming village of Ballybás, where the story takes place, amateur investigator Skye O'Shea skillfully and charmingly handles paranormal activity. 1. The Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series prequel "A Mystical Legacy" sets the stage for an exciting and paranormal adventure. Fans of paranormal literature and cozy mysteries would probably like series 23, even though I was unable to locate any reviews for this book specifically.

I don’t know what you would classify this book as. It is cozy for sure. Perfect for this cool, autumn day. For me, it really isn’t paranormal. So she is dreaming of crows. That could be because she has been seeing them around lately. And the old lady saying some jibberish to her? That comes when you’re in an old folks home. But I could be talked into it being a paranormal read before a mystery any day. There isn’t anything mysterious about this book. At all! But overall it was a cute cozy novella.

A raven has the answer

Skye is in need of a change in her life. Her husband and best friend have seen to that. When she receives word from an attorney in Ireland that her grandmother has died and left her estate to Skye she has the opportunity to find herself a reason to leave and start over in a new land. Leaving her ex husband and her ex best friend will be just what she needs to make a new life for herself

An interesting look into the life of Skye O’Shea before her life in Ireland.

I enjoyed reading this well-written prequel of the Skye O’Shea story prior to her life in Ireland. How she ended up becoming divorced and just what a nasty person her ex was. It explains a lot as to why Skye became so defensive of her independence and why she refused to knuckle under to any man.

This was fantastic! I’m hooked. So far, this year has been good to me. I want to jump right into the next book in this series but I’m determined to finish the book I’ve started and add this series to a carefully crafted tbr list. Maybe. I received this book free for signing up for this author’s newsletter.

A cute start to the story. Skye is trying to find a new job after being let go from her old one. But every interview seems to fail. Her soon-to-be ex is sending cryptic messages and probably sabatoging her. And then she learns that her grandma, who lives in Ireland has died and left her everything. It's just the chance for a new start that she needed! Can't wait to see where this goes.

A nice introduction to our FMC Skye O'Shea. We find out where she's at in life, and that it would be lovely for her to be able to leave it for something better. A mysterious offer from Ireland may be exactly what she needs. And with the hint at magical powers that Skye experiences, I'm looking forward to her developing magical skills as well.

A Mystical Legacy by Rowan Dillon.
A Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Prequel (The Skye O'Shea Paranormal Cozy Mystery Series)

This is the prequel short story to Bogs, Brews, and Banshees, book 1 in the series. For me this was an introduction of the back ground of Skye O'Shea. The short story is ok, but for me not having read any of the books in the series and as an introduction to the series, there was not enough of a hook that would compel me to purchase the next book in the series. 2 stars.

Skye O'Shea's job hunt isn't going well. After investigating the possible causes, Skye discovers sabotage!

I was taken with Skye from the moment I met her. She's full of inner strength and kindness.

This little taste of the series is enough to convince me that I need to read the rest of the books!

Eerie warning from ancestors elderly woman, a raven staring into your eyes, an omen of what?

This extremely brief short story didn't give a real feel for Skye. Since I read the 1st book, I was able to see it better because I knew the character already. But if this is your 1st intro to Skye, don't let it turn you off reading the other books, they are way better than this.

Interesting as a prologue to a book

Skype O'Shea is having a heck of a bad day or two. This short introduction to her life ended abruptly with my realization that there's much more to come.

Cozy free prequel short story

Cute set up to a series! I'll definitely give the first book a try. I want to know how Skye gets over her divorce with Armand.
also, her having the klaxon sound from star trek as her phone alarm was a nice touch.

Lovely little prequel to what sounds like an amazing series. Ireland? Pubs, and supernatural characters? A conniving ex husband, loss of a beloved family member, and an inheritance that should be able to save the day. Bogs, Brews, and Banshees is next on my TBR tower.

lots of promise

So this is an extremely short story. There is not a lot of plot more like life pushing Skye to where she needs to be. It is wonderfully written and I am excited to read the series. This short introduction to our main character is an excellent set up to the series.

oh, such fabulous writing!

I highlighted a couple of sentences that were such powerful words. There was one repeated paragraph though. I’m not sure it was planned. I’m going to have to read more about Skye O’Shea.

A very short novella prequel to a new (to me) series.
I loved getting a feel of the main character, her relationships and read how her future is unfolding.

I loved the writing style and can't wait to read the first real novel in this series!

Skye O’Shea is getting depressed. Each job she goes after she gets knocked back. She senses things are off when she sees a crow and then a raven. Then she gats the news that starts her adventures in Ireland.
