*If you are a good girl dreaming of a knight in shining armor, then step away from this novel! If you fantasize about hot, wildly sexy alpha males, then this one's for you! My heroes are dangerous, dark, and demanding—an HEA guaranteed with no cheating but lots of pain and pleasure. You have been warned! Proceed at your own risk…
As a teenager, Faye used to read at night with a flashlight underneath her bed covers. She fantasized of bad boys who stopped at nothing to capture the hearts and bodies of their women, and of equally strong heroines. Make no mistake, there are no damsels in distress in her world.
Her addiction is the “enemies to lovers” trope, and maybe that’s why when she first met her husband, their chemistry was just as sizzling as their disapproval of each other. But as in her novels, passion won, and now they live through their happily ever after.
By day, she is taking care of her household. By night, her shadow self emerges to satisfy her undisclosed desires. Literary and not.
Book two of Cruel Bonds was a great read about a very damaged MMC in Daniel and a feisty, smart, strong MFC in Sara. You should read book one of this series which is Lia and Ty's story that often intersects with the characters in book 2. The first half of the book two actually is a partial review of Lia and Ty's story with the inclusion of Daniel and Sara's story.
Sara is Lia's childhood friend who goes looking for her when she disappears. What ensues after that is what makes the story so entertaining with a snarky dialogue, a strong willed heroine and a storyline that keeps evolving and changing. It's a story of two very different people coming from two different worlds that collide and who fall in love against all probability and odds. They are both computer whizzes which is what begins their story when Sara begins to hack into the Michaelson crime family to find Lia.
Daniel is Ty's cousin whose father/demon is serving a prison sentence. He is a man considered one of the most deadliest demonic criminals of his time who has left his son Daniel damaged beyond belief.
Daniel's character seems like he has two personalities, the good vs., the bad which is disclosed with the inner dialogue the author brings to life in his character as well as Sara's. It helps the reader to understand the depth of damage Daniel has suffered from his father and how conflicted he is when having to make many hard choices throughout the book. At times I wanted to slap him and other times I wanted to calm his fears. His darkness seemed so deeply rooted that I questioned whether he could ever move on and grasp some kind of normalcy; that is until he meets Sara.
It's a very slow burn, angsty, chemistry between the two characters filled with lots of spankings and a borderline BDSM theme. I'm sure many readers will love that component to the story, whereas I tolerated it because the author knew how to pace those parts of the book.
The story has so many evil players in Hendricks, Daniel's dad, Sara's stalker, her ex and the those characters who were suppose to be Daniel's allies and are not. It has a story that builds and takes the reader on a wild ride and then deposits them, by books' end in a world that no one thought was possible for Daniel and Sara.
There were a few minor typo's but the overall writing was well done.
If you love mafia stories, if you love dark romance, if you love a really gripping read, you will love this book. Although it is a standalone story with it's own ending, I would urge reading "Devil's Cage" which is the first book in the series to get the most enjoyment, you won't regret it. Lia was missing, Lia was Sara's best friend, she didn't deserve this after all that she had gone through, why couldn't she catch a break ? why wouldn't she let Sara help her ? Sara had money, she had a well paid job but Lia wanted to get out of this mess in her own way and it was to that end that Sara, a brilliant IT student at Harvard and a very talented hacker, was helping Lia break into the apartment of a cop, access his computer to gain incriminating information on the powerful Michaelson mafia family to pay off a debt, a debt that could cost her her life...........but Lia disappeared, Sara's skills were tested to the limit, she must find her friend. Sara's blood ran cold, the further she dug into the Michaelson family the more she feared for her friend's life.........and then the message appeared on her screen, someone was a clever at hacking as she was, someone who would do anything to keep the Michaelson family safe, that someone had found Sara. As this story unfolds, Sara meets that someone, that someone is Daniel Michaelson, cousin to Tyson, the head of the mafia family, the attraction between them is combustible but Sara still needed to find Lia at any cost. Daniel was a reluctant mafia member, he would have preferred a quieter life, a normal life but his loyalty to the family ran very deep. Where was Lia ? Could Sara ever trust Daniel, could either of them fight the attraction. This book is powerful, it has action, suspense, a few surprises and a few triggers but I eagerly await the next book in the series. I received a free copy of this book and my review is voluntary.
I absolutely loved this book from the first page till the last and especially the extended epilogue. This is book two in this series and is Sara and Danny's story and what a story it is! I love how Faye has a strong female character and Sara is fearless.
Sara's best friend was in trouble, her dad had disappeared and left a lot of debt with one of the mobs and Lia had to pay. With Sara's help, she broke into an ex-cop's house but then went quiet, Sara knew something was up and it had to do with the Michaleson family, so she used her hacking skills to get into their system to find out where they had her friend, but Danny counteracted all her moves, they were both as good as each other and played Cat and Mouse.
Please read this to find out what happened between them once they came face to face, you won't be disappointed.
As always Faye gives us a strong FMC. This time she is trying to save her BF and she decides to hack the mob. Nothing bad can come of that …
Sara is tech savvy and fearless… and meets her match in Danny. These two can’t seem to get their crap together … always someone or something getting in the way.
Thank you for the opportunity to read one more book. I think the first book “Devil’s Cage” was more interesting than this one. I like the bond that Sara and Lea had. Beginning of the book was interesting, but the second part of the book I didn’t enjoyed. But it depends on what topic you like to read about. I liked extended epilogue.
Well written and full of angsty complications as Sara and Daniel navigate through their feelings and trying to find her friend. Her skills as a hacker and her strong will make it so that his initial animosity can be calmed. This was an exciting and fun story to read.
I received an ARC of this book and voluntarily leave this review.
Devils Cage I loved reading. Do recommend reading bk 1 first as Tye and Lia are a big part of this story but it's all about, Sara and Daniel, and how / if they can make it Great HOT scenes. Will there be a bk3?
I love the chemistry between them, it's really good and their love scenes are really hot. (Although there were some things that I didn't expect to find in this novel, But I won't spoil it lol) I enjoyed reading.
the sequel of the Devils cage. Familiar caracters are mentioned. Like every ms. Pierces books captivating story, hot scenes and interesting characters. Liked it very much.
As always she writes great books. These two are something else. She is a highly hacker, he works for the mafia. She is looking for her friend they meet. Enjoy this one. Recommend
