. Both stories featured a young heroine married to a duke, who fairly early in marriage had wrongly accused his wife of adultery with his best friend. The scorned heroine and the best friend flee to Italy. The outraged husband obtained divorce. The exile couple married and had a son. The best friend died and his widow came back to England with the son who has uncanny resemblance to her first husband. The stories continue in their separate ways showing couples working on reconciliation. I think Mills story is superior to this one as it felt much more realistic and grown up with much better character development.
