I loved the pictures in this story are awesome. When I found it the book says for age 5-7 years old. However, I'm not sure I would use this text until about middle school, just because it might be hard for younger children to understand the difference between realistic and folk tales. Also, it might be a little too scary for some younger students. I really liked how they chose to you size comparison to people. I think this is a great way for students to really visualize how giant these mystical creatures were. I also like the way it went into depth about the legend of each monster, this would be cool to read to students in a mythology unit.

I got this book at a school book fair in middle school and I must have read it daily for the next year or so. A wonderful little book with great illustration that captured my imagination as a kid. I still smile when I see it on my bookshelf.

I purchased this book at my elementary school book fair, but I never read it until recently, now that I am 22 years old.

I'd say that it's a nice little book that gives basic, simple, and quick descriptions about various different types of myths and legends that serve as a nice introduction material into getting familiar with popular cultural media. Bits and pieces of Nordic, Greek, Indian, American, and various other stories from other backgrounds are made known in this book. Someone who may enjoy fantasy might get much more out of it by knowing the basics of a Gryffin, the Minotaur, and many more!

Granted, now in 2025, some information has been updated about some characters in the book, but everything should relatively be the same as they had been for some time.

The graphic pictures help to engage the reader and the maps help the reader to understand the different beliefs of different lands. This book is fun and cool, I got it at a Johnson Elementry bookfair that I went to with my sister. It has every mythical horror under the sun and goes from Merpeople to wyverns to werewolfs to Godzilla! I read it over and over, the time that I said I read it was only the last time I looked through it. Its like an encyclopedia of cool monsters!

My favorite monster was godzilla because he was like the biggest, even bigger than king kong. Because king kong was just standing on the biggest city building and godzilla would be bigger than him if he was standing on the ground. So I liked godzilla best, so he's 5 stars. This was my favorite monster book, because it has more different monsters than any other book. That I've read.

This was one of my favorite books as a kid. This is perfect for any kid who loves monsters/memorizing facts and might have some trouble focusing. Just an absolutely beautiful book. A lot of my happiest childhood memories are flipping through its pages.

The pictures are awesome, and the comparison with human size gives a good laugh :) The texts are also good, there are bits I've never heard of in there. Once I'm done I wish the text were longer :)
