A handsome billionaire, a feisty blonde, and a dangerous secret that could tear them apart.
I never planned to break into anyone’s cabin; I just needed a place to stay.
Now I'm at risk of getting in real trouble, unless I cut a deal with the handsome billionaire who just found me sleeping in his bed.
Adrian Bear has only one condition that will stop him from pressing my agreement to be his fake girlfriend for the week I’m in town...
...a role that can't ever turn into a real relationship, no matter how many sparks fly between us.
It hurts me to think that once our week together ends, so does the fairytale, but it has to be that way.
Because Mr. Billionaire Bear has a secret.
One that not only puts us both in danger, but verifies any love between us can never be.
If you like the blazing chemistry of Anne-Marie Meyer and the heroic romance of Cami Checketts, you’ll devour the witty banter and fairytale feel of this absorbing series.

This book has been recently revised with an all-new, additional plot line and over 30,000 more words jammed with snarky scenes, steamy kisses, and heartfelt, closed-door romance.
Catelyn Meadows is a romantic at heart. A mom of four munchkins, Catelyn married a true-blue farm boy who still makes her heart pitter-pat, and she wanted to create stories that do the same. She also writes clean, young adult fantasy romance as USA Today bestselling author, Cortney Pearson.
I am reviewing Goldie and the Billionaire Bear as a clean romance. As it is expected from clean romance, the twist/ plot is very vanilla or minimum. Not much happening.
This is my first read by Miss Meadowsand I have to say, I like it very much. It has been a while since I read clean romance. Usually clean romance means boring. Surprisingly not with this book.
I found it refreshing. A perfect book to end my rainny weekend.
(I DON'T SEE THE BEAUTIFUL NEW COVER ART AS A CHOICE SO I'LL REVIEW WITH THIS COVER...🙈 DON'T JUDGE ME. IT'S ACTUALLY A CLEAN READ. PLEASE DON'T LET THIS COVER INFLUENCE YOUR CHOICE TO READ IT!) ======================================= 𝐆𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐞 & 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐢𝐫𝐞 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐫 Once Upon a Billionaire #1 Clean Contemporary Romance Catelyn Meadows
This was an unexpected treat! I’m not a big romance reader, but Catelyn Meadows showed me that it is possible to write a sweet romance with depth and emotion. I immediately picked up book two in the series.
Meadows explores lies of omission, learning to trust, knowing who we are, and looking to belong in her fake dating romance. She introduces us to characters with heart and invites us to journey with them as they grow. My highlighter was busy marking quotes that resonated and my heart wanted the main characters to realize their worth and find the love they desperately needed.
“Don’t mistake hurt for hatred.”
Adrain is one bear I’d love to meet!
This is a wonderful start to the series.

Catelyn Meadows has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Goldie and Adrian. Goldie has received a letter from a woman named Bethany Harold. She claims to be Goldie's aunt. Goldie's mom is not happy about the letter and tells her to burn it. When she decides to go to Two Pines to meet her aunt, her mom gets mad and they have words. Now Goldie is lost and her phone has no service. She sees a cabin in the distance and decides to go and ask for help. It is getting dark when she gets to the cabin. She knocks but there is no answer. It is getting cold and she tries the door. At first, it didn't open and she put her shoulder into the door and pushed. It opens and she goes inside. She decided that she would leave a note with her information on it in case the owner wanted to get in touch with her. She goes to one of the bedrooms and goes to sleep. Adrian has been told that his father left him a lockbox with what he was to get from his father's will. He goes to the cabin to look for it. When he gets to the cabin, it is almost midnight. He goes into his room and starts to lie down when he realizes there is a woman in his bed. The woman woke up when he sat down on the bed and screamed. Adrian wants to know who she is and why she is in his cabin. She tells him her story about getting lost and no phone service. He agrees to let her stay and the next morning he would take her to Two Pines and the address she is going to. The next morning, Goldie wakes up before Adrian and is cooking breakfast to thank him for letting her stay the night before. She is attracted to him and thinks he is just being nice to her. She tries to go out the bathroom window but before she can, Adrian calls out to her. She ends up breaking a vase and is trying to clean it up when Adrian comes into the bathroom. Adrian asks if she is ready to go before he notices the broken vase. She wants to know if the vase is valuable. He tells her it is just a vase his mother liked. They clean up the mess and he asks her if she can see her truck. When she said she could, he told her that he would meet her at the truck and then she could follow him to town. She is shocked that he is not going to give her a ride to her truck. When she gets to her truck, she waits for Adrian but doesn't see him. She decides to find Two Pines herself but she gets behind a slow-moving truck. Adrian comes up behind her and gets her to pull off. He wants to know why she didn't wait for him. She tells him that she thought she missed him. When she gets to her aunt's house, there is no answer. Adrian leaves her at her aunt's and goes back to the family ranch. Goldie waits a few minutes but her aunt doesn't come home. She goes to the hotel she passed and asks for a room. She is told that they don't have one because of the gala going on that night. She is told about the B & B out at the ranch on the edge of town. Adrian has just talked to his mother and told her that Danica was coming over that afternoon and wanted to talk to him. He tells his mom that he has nothing to say to her and that they are over with no chance of them getting together again. She tells him that he could bring Danica as his date to the gala that night. He tells her that he has met someone and she will coming with him to the gala. He has finished with his mother and looks up and sees Goldie at the front desk. He goes up to her and tells his brother that she is with him and he has it. After she is checked in, she walks away from Adrian and goes outside. She is not happy with what he has just done. They talk it over and she finally agrees to let him take care of her room. He then asks her to be his fake girlfriend for the week. She wants to know why and he tells her about his mother pushing him toward Danica. They talk about it a little more and she finally agrees. She asked about the type of event it was and he told her black-tie. She said she didn't have a dress. He says that he would call Kimmy, his sister-in-law, and see if she could borrow a dress from her. Kimmy lets him know that it is fine for Goldie to borrow a dress and for her to come on over. Goldie finds a dress. Kimmy tells her that she is going to knock Adrian's socks off with the way she looks. Adrian's mom is not happy with him bringing Goldie to the gala. She is talking to Danica at their table. Adrian is meeting his friend Hawk at the gala and he and Goldie go and sit with Hawk. Adrian is having a good time with Goldie. He doesn't want the night to end just yet. At the end of the night, Goldie wants to stop by her aunt's house to see if she is at home. The house is dark. He takes her back to the B & B. Adrian has Goldie do things with him and his feelings for her start to change. He thinks about The Pact he signed in college. Things happen and Adrian tells her that he wants to see her after they leave. She knows that can't happen since they live in different states. He tells her that he can fly in to see her and then fly her out to see him. She wants to spend a little more time with him and tells him she wants to bake his mother something and he says he wants to help. She goes to the store to get what she needs and is ready to go when Adrian comes to get her. They have started with the recipe when she gets an email from her aunt telling her that she is home. Goldie tells Adrian that she has to go. Adrian had his assistant look into Bethany and he couldn't believe what she found. He was going to tell Goldie but she left before he could. He thinks that it is best coming from Bethany. When Goldie gets to Bethany's, it is a little strange to her. Bethany tells her that she didn't want to tell her this way but her sister made her do it this way. Bethany tells her that she is her birth mother and when she had her, she was only seventeen and her boyfriend left her when he was told. Bethany goes on to tell her that she has cousins and that her father has passed away. Bethany tells her that her father, Jax, and she had been talking and he had said that he was sorry for not being there for Goldie. Goldie is upset that everyone has lied to her. She thinks that Adrian has lied to her too. She returns to the B & B packs her things and checks out. Adrian calls her to find out how the meeting went and she asks why he did it. He is confused and asks, "What?" She says, Why were you nice to me? He tells her that he likes her and wants to get to know her. She tells him that it won't work between them since they live so far apart and over time, one of them would find someone else. She didn't tell Adrian that she thought that he would be the one to do that.Adrian tries to get her to come back to the ranch but she tells him that she can't. She ends the call with Adrian. He tries calling her back but she doesn't answer his call. When she gets home, a man is watching her and it makes her nervous. She gets a message from someone she doesn't know and she doesn't understand the message. She asks the sender to not message her again. Adrian has gone back home to Chicago after Goldie left and he is having problems with his business. He thinks The Pact has something to do with it. One of the members attacked one of the member's girlfriend when he fell in love with her. Will Adrian be able to warn Goldie of the possible trouble coming her way? Will Goldie give Adrian another chance? This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

I listened to the audiobook version of this story and enjoyed it very much. The narration is well done and the story flows seamlessly.
Goldie (Gabby) was searching for her aunt's home in Montana. She was directionally challenged and realized she was lost. She was in the middle of nowhere with no cell signal and it was getting dark. When she saw a cabin that was nearby, she headed there for some help. No one was home was the door was unlocked so she went in. She was so tired, she laid down and fell asleep.
That is where Adrian Bear found her the next morning. . . in his bed. He had come to his family's cabin searching for something his father had left him. He didn't expect to find a beautiful woman asleep in his bed. He offered to help her find her way back to town so she could find her aunt. When the opportunity presented itself for her to be his fake girlfriend for the evening, neither of them knew how much their lives would change forever.
This story is part fairytale and a lot of romance. It is a clean read with a happy ending; appropriate for any age to read.
Great start and idea meandered in the middle and ended ok.
I know the first book of a series is hard because you need the setup for the other books. This book had WAY too many side stories, characters (22 side characters I counted off the top of my head) and things going on and it unfortunately took away from the main story.
Lots of odd choices like we keep talking about the town like it’s fairly small only one hotel and a B & B but then there’s a golf course? But aren’t we in the mountains? The whole town comes to a charity event that’s housed in a high school gym but then the population is mentioned as 11,000? 11,000 The definition of a small town is around 5,000 people some say under 10,000 but with a population of 11,000 there should be at least 2-3 high schools and neither would be big enough to house even 5,000 people.
The oddest choices to me were all of the details about Adrian’s ex if he signed the pact after they broke up which then we found out was ten years ago why had his parents stayed so close to her? He also didn’t know how close they were to her? Ten years is a LONG time for her not to have met someone else?
This mystery box from his dad is such a major part of the book and he’s desperate to find it. Then he waits days or even a week or more to open it with Goldie? Come on! She dropped everything to meet her aunt he 100% should have opened it and told her about it or showed her later.
There is a prequel novel that maybe was written after I haven’t read it but maybe all of the Pact stuff and explanation should have been in that book and less apart of this one. I think a lot more focus needed to be on Adrian and Goldie.

This book came across to me as super-fairytale-ish, which wouldn't be so bad, normally. But when a story is set in the modern era, for me to enjoy a fairytale type plot, there's got to be a certain level of believability. Another thing I found off-putting were the odd similies. There were several which created odd, unromatic word pictures and totally pulled me out of the story. The book may have been edited, but a good content edit would've eliminated most of those. Also, using three words to indicate the same color in one sentence was a bit much...jet black or pitch black would've been plenty description. The epilogue was also not my cuppa. If none of the things that bothered me will bother you, and you love sweet, clean, fairytale romance, then I think you may enjoy this book.
Goldie Bybanks receives a mysterious message from an aunt that she never knew she had. Her judgmental mother insists that Goldie destroy the letter, and tells her that she’s driving over to Goldie’s apartment to destroy it for her. In order to prevent this, Goldie decides to take the letter and go see her aunt. The aunt alludes to a secret, and Goldie Wants to find out what that secret is. When she gets stranded for the night in Adrian Bear’s cabin, she finds that she has stumbled into much more than she has bargained for! It was so much fun to listen to this fantastic remake of a classic, with all of the “too hard” “too soft” references required for a remake of this tale. I loved it! I received an ARC copy of this audiobook, and I’m giving a voluntary review.
I was surprised that the author had many other books. For me this read more like a young adult book. No swearing, alcohol or sex all of which I'm fine with. There were some odd word choices throughout. I applaud the use of a thesaurus, as seems the case here, but a more careful word selection might be in order. A note that site and sight aren't the same. Goldie would see the sights unless she was a contractor. As a retelling of The Three Bears this was imaginative and I enjoyed the characters of Adrian and Goldie. There was a twist or two that made it more interesting. Three stars with hope for better books later.
This is a modern day version of a well-known fairy tale. Goldie gets lost in the woods, finds a cabin, and ends up in Adrian’s unoccupied bed. Adrian finds Goldie in his cabin and their romance grows as they spend time together. I found the characters to be endearing and the plot is creative and interesting. This is the first book I have read by Catelyn Meadows and I plan to read more of her novels in the future. I received a free ARC in return for an honest and voluntary review.
Clean, cute, humorous romance. Goldie being directionally challenged, spends the night in Mr Bears cabin. Yes he finds her there in the morning. Don't miss this version of Goldielocks. Really enjoyed my ARC copy.
Cute spin on the fairytale, Goldilocks and the three bears. I enjoyed the overall story. Adrian and Goldie were good together but Goldie’s overreaction at the end did annoy me a lot. Other than that, this was a light, quick read.
There is clean. And then there is boring. This falls into the second category. The writing seemed almost childish at times. I actually googled to see if the book was written by a teenager. I was excited for a fairytale series but I won’t be continuing this series.
Goldie and the Billionaire Bear is a romance by Catelyn Meadows and is the first book in the Once Upon a Billionaire series. I think this is going to end up being one of those series best read in order, although perhaps you might be able to get away with reading it as a standalone.
I really like the concept of this series - modern retellings, or more accurately, a story with elements of a fairytale or nursery rhyme. I really loved this book and am looking forward to the rest. There is also an overarching plotline, where the heroes of the series are college friends who signed a shady deal to never fall in love - and after so many years and in their thirties, there's danger for the men falling in love, to life, love and business.
To be frank, the links to Goldilocks and the Three Bears is tenuous at best. Goldie is on her way to a small town to meet an aunty who she never knew about until she had received an email from the aunt in question. Unfortunately, she gets lost and before it gets too dark she goes to a cabin for help. With no one home, this is where the Goldilocks schtick happens.
When Adrian Bear, the billionaire, catches Goldie in his family's cabin, the sparks fly between them. Though both Goldie and Adrian are reluctant to start anything - because of them intend on leaving town to go back to the cities that they call home respectively. While they are fighting their attraction, we are finding out about Goldie, there's a fake relationship, crazy exes, coming to terms with overbearing parents... there's just everything.
Together Adrian and Goldie show that they have a lot of potential together. The chemistry is off the charts and I loved seeing them get to know each other in the early stages of the relationship.

At first I was skeptical about reading this book because I was afraid it would be too much like the fairy tale. Do not worry, it is not like the fairy tale and is a great book! The story was riveting from the beginning and sucked me in. FMC Goldie Bybanks was on her way to meet an aunt she never knew about and got lost at night without cell service. Rather than keep driving aimlessly, she stops near a cabin in the woods for help. No one was home and desperate, she breaks into the cabin to find a place to sleep for the night. Meanwhile MMC Adrian Bear, home for a while due to his father’s death, seeks solace at his family’s cabin for the night with the hopes of finding his inheritance the next day. They end up in the same bed, scared of each other. Rather than go to jail, Goldie agrees to be Adrian’s girlfriend for a week so Adrian can avoid his old girlfriend. This is the beginning of their love story.
I don’t want to give spoilers so I will just say that the story further develops into a mystery about the inheritance, the consequences of an old promise Adrian and his college frat buddies signed long ago, and the meaning of family. It was a well-developed story that can be read as a stand-alone or as part of a three-book series. There is a bit of a hint at the end of the book about the next book, which will be about Goldie’s sister and Adrian’s best friend, which I cannot wait to read!
Goldie is on a mission to meet an aunt she knew nothing about. Getting lost, she ends up at a cabin. She is able to find a way in and falls asleep. Adrian is back in his hometown after his father’s death. He is looking for a lockbox that his father left him and he ends up at the cabin. Getting into bed, he feels someone and both are shocked. Goldie is taken by Adrian’s good looks and he is taken by everything about her.
When Adrian takes her to her aunt’s house, they say goodbye, but when Goldie finds out her aunt is not there – she looks for a place to stay. She ends up at a B&B that happens to be owned by Adrian’s family. The sparks continue to fly and Adrian asks Goldie to be his fake girlfriend so he doesn’t have to deal with an ex. An ex that made him sign a pact while he was away at college with his fraternity brothers. A pact that stated he would not ever fall in love!
Goldie and Adrian share moments together, and Adrian even finds out some information about her aunt that he is acinous to tell her, only she ends up finding out and leaves to go back home. With Goldie hurt from the lies she’s been told – she doesn’t think she can trust anything she knows. Will Goldie be able to get over her insecurities and come to her senses about Adrian? And when someone threatens Goldie, will Adrian figure it out in time to save her?
I received a free copy of this book via Hidden Gems ARC’s and am voluntarily leaving a review.
When Goldie sets out on a road trip to see her long lost aunt, she never expects to get lost and find herself in the situations that occur next. Adrian is still not handling his feelings about the loss of his father too well and out on the hunt for the lockbox that was left to him, he never expects to find a woman asleep in his bed. This story’s take on Goldilocks was such a cute and refreshing read with a lot of emotions and some suspense. Adrian knows his instant attraction to Goldie is something he has never felt before and he isn’t sure what to do about it. Goldie has her own family issues and insecurities that still linger, so she can’t seem to believe that someone like Adrian could possibly be attracted to her. Adrian is such an amazing guy that is attentive and goes for what he wants and Goldie is a pure heart with nothing but kindness in her soul. You just know these two are perfect for each other, but with other things happening around them could they turn something that starts fake into something real? I really enjoyed this read and while I usually read more spicier stories this was still a fun journey and I found myself not even missing the steam. I am curious about the other guys and their stories so I will be picking those up.
WHAT IT'S ABOUT After a mysterious letter arrives from a long-lost aunt, Goldie sets out to find answers. But she is terrible at following direction. When she loses cell service in the mountains, she decides to stop for the night at an abandoned cabin.
Adrian Bear is shocked to discover a beautiful blonde sleeping in his family fishing lodge. When he hears her story, rather than calling the police, he decides to lead her to the address of the aunt. But the woman's not there. So now what?
Goldie needs somewhere to stay, and he needs a date to his family's big fundraiser. What follows is a fake-boyfriend ploy and, of course, falling in love.
This is a fun spin on Goldilocks and the Three Bears. There's even a scene where Adrian and some of his family members are referred to as "the three Bears." My hubby was listening to Alexa read it to me, and we both cracked up. The characters were engaging, and the ending was sweet and swoonworthy.
I listened to the audiobook, and the narrator was wonderful.
This book was very fun and entertaining! It's written in your typical well-done Catelyn style; has plenty of driving plot, burgeoning romance, and amazing banter; and humanizes rich characters that at a more basic level could seem totally unrelatable, but on top of that, it's outright funny! There is technically a meet-cute in a bed (although no worries --- it's totally clean.) There are subtle "Goldilocks and the Three Bears" retelling nods everywhere, down to a theme about a chair that fits you just right and a reference to cold oatmeal. There are fraternity, "bruh" billionaires and Pop Tart socks. And there is relating kissing to eating more cookies than you should and a "fish out of water" pun when talking about a mermaid dress.
It's pretty much a delight! And it sets you up for the many more books to come in the series.
Here's to trust, happily ever afters, and many more Catelyn Meadows books!
Goldie got a letter from an aunt she didn’t know she had so decided to go and see her but got lost which she does very easily. Started walking and found a cabin went in to sleep then leave in the morning but Adrian found her in his bed. They worked out what to do, he had gone there to found his inheritance a lock box his father left wasn’t there. His mother wanted him to get back with an ex but couldn’t stand her and she had the lockbox. After there was no answer at her aunt’s place she got a Tom at the Rustic Ridge B&B and Adrian wouldn’t let her pay said to pay him back to go to the gala instead. Told his mother that he loved Goldie and got the lockbox back plus him and his friends had to figure out how to get rid of a pledge they had in college since Goldie had been kidnapped by a deranged person from then. Good book!.

Very interesting, for sure. I think I would have liked a little bit more knowledge about The Pact upfront because it did feel like Meadows name-dropped a previous book and its characters as if we should know them, and that was confusing. [I did find out, there is a prequel novel(la?) that was released only through this Facebook promo thing years ago]
Though it started in an insta-love situation, I did like how connected the characters became. For a clean romance with a minimal plotline, it had solid relationship growth.
It sort of felt like Meadows was trying to go in a few directions with the plotline because there were insinuations that Adrian had issues with The Pact, but also his dad, and that one girl, but also people only wanting him for his money, and Goldie had that whole aunt situation and conflict with her mother that was never quite resolved. Some pieces were resolved, but a lot of Goldie's issues seemed to be forgotten.
Goldie gets lost on her way to meet her long lost Aunt. When she gets stranded she spots a cabin. Well, she did what anyone would do, maybe, she trekked through the woods to said cabin to see if anyone was home. Instead of trekking back to her vehicle in the dark with all the noises around her, she forces her way into the Cabin to spend the night.
Adrian is on the hunt for something his late father left him. Which went missing. Where is he headed? To his family's cabin. He doesn't find what he's looking for but he does get quite the surprise when he tries to go to bed.
The story was cute, a little drawn out at times, but was an interesting take on Goldilocks and the three Bears.
There are quite a a few twists in this book that had me trying to guess what was going to happen next.
You get a sneaky mom, an ex that is persistent to rekindle a love that burned out long ago.
This clean and sweet billionaire fairy tale comes to life when a bunch of coincidences occur in a timely fashion. Aiden comes across Goldie when he stops by to search for a missing item and finds her sleeping in the family's cabin after taking refuge upon getting lost. His family just happens to own a B&B in the town where her long-lost aunt resides an hour away. She pretends to be his girlfriend as a return favor to scare off an old one. Though, the family remains skeptical and wary of her presence. Because of family issues, they both eventually part with unresolved issues. Definitely, a fairy tale in the making, appreciating the fact that despite the hot cover, it proved to be for all ages to enjoy.
I was going to rate this 4 stars because there were a few time the cliched romance scenes/language made me laugh, but overall I enjoyed this book too much not to bump up the rating a bit. I downloaded it when it was free on Amazon because it wasn't what I expected and that contrast caught my eye. Billionaire bear romance with that cover first made me think steamy paranormal romance but it's actually clean contemporary fairy tale retelling. And it's a very cleaver way of retelling Goldilocks as a romance. If you're looking for a light, fun read with sweet romance and sizzling kisses, there's a good chance you'd enjoy reading this.
The re-read was just as good as the first time through. The allusions to < Goldilocks and the Three Bears > were brilliant! On this read, I picked up on an underlying storyline: "Where do I fit?" It's nicely mirrors Goldilocks' search for what is "just right."
This is a clean, gentle romance emerging out of a totally unexpected friendship. It is laced with family drama. The story there is that things--and people--are not always as they seem, but in a good way. Once we learn the rest of the story, it changes everything.
Such a fun take on a tale of old! I did find out about this book when it had the new cover, had I come across the cover goodreads is currently showing I may not have picked it up, because it doesn’t say “closed door” to me, but the book was sooo good! I was reading it on the way home on a few days ago road-trip and didn’t want to put it down. I appreciated the humbleness of Adrian and his friends were fun. I will say the early description of Goldie’s feelings towards Adrian being compared to cat-nip (Goldie-nip) cracked me up! There was a plot twist I didn’t see coming, as well as something I knew was coming but didn’t just quite know how it was going to come into play. Makes me want to go spend time on a ranch! Looking forward to the other books as well!
