Who doesn't love a book about a bunch of book influencers coming together to meet and talk about books while on holiday. This a unique concept and with a thriller twist this book just brings it home for a reader.

I really loved the idea around the book, but I had some quirks with it. The characters were loveable and spontaneous and we even received a tight lip male character that made it so much more interesting. I am not fond of romance intertwining with a thriller genre type book but this one worked well as the romance wasn't too overwhelming. The twist at the end is were most of my disappointment lies. Its was flat, rushed and not a big major jaw-droppingly twist. I wouldn't say that I guessed the twist at all, just very rushed. The book had more character building than plot building with a decent cover throughout the book and then an ending that was too rushed and over far too quickly. Overall a decent read from our brilliant Kiersten, only needed more bang at the end.

Thank you Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for the opportunity to listen to this audiobook ARC.

KMOD always delivers a fast paced, gripping and thrilling read. I listened to the audiobook and thought the narrator did a great job! I listened to this book throughout the day and enjoyed it immensely right until the ending and then I was sitting in my chair thinking "Say what?", "Seriously?" and "Are you kidding Me?" The entire book was smooth sailing until the ending which was like skating on thin ice.

Six book influencers decide to go away for the weekend to content, relax, have good times, and create memories. Heck, they may even discuss a book or two (or three). Sounds wonderful right? That would be a dream for me. But alas, this becomes a nightmare for them! The home they rented is in a small town and away from things, giving it that middle of nowhere trapped feeling. Throw in a bizarre sighting and you have yourself a hard to put down book (or audiobook in my case)!

I was hooked and fully invested the whole way but then the ending just didn't work for me. I don't want to say much more than that to avoid spoilers. I really struggled how to rate this as I was digging this book until the ending. Most of us have been there, loving a book until the end.

Others enjoyed the book all the way through more than I did. Please read those reviews as well.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lena is part of an online group of book influencers. They all decided to meet up for a weekend getaway to finally see each other in real life. However, from the start of the trip, Lena felt that something was not right. There was a weird interaction in town. The friend who planned the trip dropped out at the last minute. Also, the neighbors' behavior was odd. Things became more concerning when Lena thought she saw one of the neighbors being murdered through the window. The group called the police, but when they arrived, they didn't find anything suspicious. Was Lena hallucinating? Did she genuinely witness a murder? Is there something going on with this town? As the story progresses, things only become more bizarre and inexplicable.

While the premise was not particularly new, I still found it an entertaining read overall. However, I must admit that the big reveal at the end left me a bit unsatisfied. Although it was not as gripping or mind-blowing as some of the author's other novels, I do think that fans of thrillers will still enjoy it. Overall, it is a decent read, but if you are looking for something truly exceptional, I might suggest trying one of the author's other works.

***Thank you to NetGalley, Kiersten Modglin, and Dreamscape Media for graciously sending me the audiobook to review. As always, all thoughts are my own.***

This was the kind of books that once you have picked it up you will literally not be able to put it down. This book felt a little different than Kiersten’s other works, but similarly I found myself finishing this one in one sitting. I liked the tie in with bookstagramers and the idea of having a get together and meeting in real life. I loved the idea of friends who share a passion for books having a weekend away. Unfortunately there is something wrong in the small town they chose. Lena was ready for a weekend away. Recently divorced and having moved back to her home town she is jobless and feeling rather pathetic. Luckily she is getting together with 5 of her closest online friends. Despite the awkwardness when she recognizes one of the others as the rude man who interviewed and didn’t hire her for his bookstore she decides to have fun. But strange things happen and their picturesque trip is seeming more dark with every turn. The end was full of twists as all Kiersten’s books are but I found the end explanation a little lacking in believability. Despite that this is the perfect book if you want to stay up past your bedtime.

This is an entertaining, well-written psychological thriller which kept me guessing until the end! I listened to the audio book, and the narrator, Ms. Stacy Gonzalez, does a great job voicing the characters.

It was easy to read but I don’t think I have anything good to say other than that. I didn’t like the beginning at all, I found most of the interactions between the characters to be cheesy… and just cringe. The main thought in my head was, “this is all fluff… just get on with it” 🙄 I held on believing that it would pick up and the ending would make it worth it. I was wrong. It did get more suspenseful but the conclusion and the ‘twist’ of it all… just plain ridiculous. Really? It almost seemed like a gag or a joke. Not believable. Just… no. I love Kiersten’s books but the past few that I’ve tried to read were not as good. Total bummer. However, I’m still a fan and hope I’ll be able to connect more to her future books. This one was not for me.

Yikes.

This audiobook was narrated by Stacy Gonzalez who was ... enthusiastic. I enjoyed her storytelling but it also stressed me out a bit because she seemed so breathless for most of it.

This was a pretty quick audio listen, though the story was a little thin. It revolves around a group of online 'book influencers' who have decided to meet up in person in the middle of nowhere. Because that would definitely be my first pick when meeting online friends for the first time.

I did enjoy the group coming together and getting to know one another in person - I think that's something a lot of us with online friends will relate to. Lena had some interesting delusions about Ethan, and it was a bit of a weak plot point, but it did mix things up a bit I guess. Wasn't looking forward to everyone coupling up but the group seemed to get along in general so the dynamics worked okay.

The murder plot is super thin and I never felt the thrills I think it was trying to deliver. I feel like close inspection would reveal some gaping plot holes - I found the way police dealt with things to be quite questionable and it soured me a little towards the story. I wanted better twists and stronger moments that swept me up in the story, but instead I had a lot of questions about the way things were playing out.

Overall, it just seemed a little weak to me, and the final reasoning for everything put me off completely. It was such a weird angle to take and I didn't buy it one bit. But I hadn't been blown away by the rest of the story so I was already disappointed by the time I got there.

An easy listen, but not particularly strong. I didn't hate it, but it won't be one that stays with me.

With thanks to Netgalley for an audio copy

I’m going to keep this brief—not Modglin’s best work. A town immersed in the ideology of a cult that believes books should be banned. All books. When six internet book influencers decide to meet for the first time, they get together for a mini-vacation in this sleepy, down trodden little town, and, surprise, surprise, a book-banning cult and avid readers just don’t hit it off.

It’s ridiculous. I won’t bore you with details of one dimensional characters who nosedive into almost comedic villains, or with the inconsistencies in plot details. What I will say is this: although the book began with great potential (in spite of the piss poor writing), once it went off the rails, it did so spectacularly. A cult. Against books. Even if we view this as some misguided political statement about the dangers of book burning, the entire premise is laughable.

Read for the value of a cautionary tale about how what might seem like a good idea doesn’t always translate to a good story. Beyond that, there is simply no value.

I read this book in one sitting, even bringing my PHONE into the shower with me (my kindle is permanently stuck on the Lock Screen and I’m waiting for my new one to get here 😫) because I literally couldn’t put it down! I fell in love with the characters, I was consumed by the suspense and in true KMod form - I was shocked by the plot twists. A book about 6 book influencers, who meet irl for the first time for a weekend getaway.. a weekend getaway that goes horribly wrong. I just know this book is going to be a huge hit!

Hmmm how do I rate this.

Upsides:

I really enjoyed this. Listening to the narrator was an excellent experience as the voice was totally spot in to keep my attention.

I got into the storyline very well, followed it easily, characters were fine, believable. Plot interesting.

Downside:

The ending.
Was it a gasp? No
Was it jaw dropping? No

It was just—
What! And left me scratching my head in wonderment and not in a good way.

In my humble opinion, the ending let it down as the build up was good.

ECG…flatline

But it’s still a 3 as I was enjoying up until then.

I have become a big fan of Kiersten Modglin’s books. The way she writes always keeps me interested and I find them to be quick reads, but this book was a big miss for me.

The beginning started off well, I liked the idea of the book influencers meeting up for a weekend getaway. I found most of the characters forgettable/interchangeable.

The twist was…so strange. It was so bizarre, not at all what I expected. I also hated the main character’s business decision in the epilogue. I think it was supposed to be a cute thing she was doing but in real life it would be mean.

I was also not the biggest fan of the narrator. She had a lot of energy and I appreciate that more than monotonous reading, but it was a little over the top.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I’m hit or miss with this author, but it was a hoopla bonus so I figured why not give it a whirl. Didn’t hate it. 3.5⭐️ ~ review up soon

What to expect:
~ single 1st person POV, present tense
~ divorced 24yo starting over
~ creepy small town in Kentucky
~ a shock or two
~ fast paced, quick read/listen

Narration notes:
She did a really great job. Each character had a distinct voice ~ women and men.

To my fellow book influencers, this book will feel like a mirror for most of it. The storyline follows a group of book influencers who decide to meet up over a weekend and have bookish fun. But the first wire went loose as the host cancelled at the last minute, followed by a spooky neighbour incident and possibly witnessing a murder. It all unwinds into a frenzy as their bookish weekend turns into a nightmare at Elm Street (only without the ghost) as each one of them questions why they are here.

The plot and the cause were chosen wisely as I could see myself falling prey to the situation too. There were a few lines that felt cringe to me, but the overall books about books or should I say books about readers was a novel shot that felt relatable. Without giving many spoilers, I would only say if you do start it, stick to the end and you might just get the 'cause' behind the whole story.

I listened to the audiobook and that's one reason why the characters felt lively and vivid. The narrators certainly did a great job on this one.

Fast-paced, fun, and full of twists!

This was a quick, entertaining read set in the world of book influencers—with a mix of murder, mystery, and just the right amount of flirting. Kiersten Modglin delivers a story that’s both suspenseful and playful, keeping you hooked from start to finish.

I’ve read quite a few books about influencers in general but this one was basically made for me, it’s about a group of book influencers who spent their free time recommending mysteries and thrillers, umm hello?! So a super cool concept that I was immediately into coupled with a great atmosphere that should’ve been cute and picturesque but was instead unsettling and creepy. It’s a page turner that read so fast I truly had a hard time convincing myself to put it down when I needed to sleep, there’s something about the authors style that begs you to read just a few more pages. And then repeat haha. I definitely didn’t see where this was headed at all and one of the main reveals got me really good. Overall another fast paced and twisty thrill ride from the author.

This one started out so promising. Being a book content creator who goes on trips with her influencer friends, I thought I would really connect to this. The first half was good, I was enjoying the story and the mystery intrigued me. The second half, not so much. There were some plot holes and I absolutely did not like the ending and the reasoning behind why things were happening.

"I both dislike and am enamored with Memphis in equal measure."

This book is filled with ominous mystery surrounding the old BNB and the town it's in. But one light, sweet spot remains between Lena and Montgomery. I strongly dislike romance. I hate it when budding romantic relationships are shoved into these dark mystery thrillers. But somehow, this was cute. Interesting.

I was totally sucked into this story, but around the halfway point, I felt like all focus was on the romance, and nothing was happening with the thriller plot. That was disappointing, but it didn't last long. Things immediately picked up and went haywire.

A dang good thriller with secrets and deadly people. Definitely a love letter to the book reviewers.

KMOD is one of my favourite authors and never let’s me down. You’ll never Know I’m Here is full of Kiersten’s signature twists and turns and one of those books that’s impossible to put down once you start.

What could possibly go wrong when a group of six book influencers meet up for a weekend away of bookish fun. Weird vibes, a last minute drop out, odd neighbours and a possible sight of a murder start this weekend off on a bad foot … and it just gets worse!

Hugely entertaining - I kept thinking of my fellow bookstagrammers, and might skip any future planned weekends away 😂

what did you do with Kiersten Modglin?

I can’t even believe this is the same author that’s written all those other fantastic books—which I’ve read all of! It’s not even that the story was so god-awful, but the writing was equally horrific!!! I kept reading it because I just knew it would get better but it just got consistently worse right up to the utterly ridiculous ending—never mind the one year later stupidity! I’m going to have to think long and hard before buying another book by her! :(

I want to start with the narrator Stacy Gonzalez, there were six book bloggers in the narrator stacy Gunsallus made four of these people sound like buffoons she added extra vowels to the end of each last word and every sentence which made them all sound like potheads with the exception of Mara and Memphis who she made sound like a sleazy seductress for her and a serial killer for him. Not to mention she made the towns people sound like backwoods the phones and then the end I agree some of them were but one of these book bloggers was from Florida the state most known for crazy people but I digress. Now Kiersten Modgelin can really write some great books I think she does because she takes risks like Don’t Go Down There and You Can Trust Me which in my opinion are some really great books but sometimes when taking risk you wind up with .If You’re Reading This and You’ll Never Know I’m Here had I read the Kindle book I may have given it more stars but the narrator was almost insufferable and it sounds like she has a nice voice just the voices she does makes me think people must really care about her feelings because why wouldn’t someone tell her your character distinction makes them all sound like they’re drug attic‘s or idiots it still wouldn’t have been a five star read I mean in the book one book blogger is mocking another because he is reading a book! Opposed to being on his phone like everyone else, that is wrong in so many ways. I have many other examples like everything Paulette said not to mention Will who seem like he barely had a personality and all I kept thinking is these people are book bloggers… Really? Well you get my point this wasn’t a great book I didn’t like it didn’t like the narrator but like always I will still read Kiersten Modgelin’s books because sometimes like a grab bag you get a good one. I still appreciate the free Ark given to me by Net Galley and Dreamscape media. Please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

This was stupid. I'm frustrated Kierstin Modglin removed her books from Kindle Unlimited. While I understand her reasoning, as a reader who spent money it sucks and feels like a waste when the writing was bad and the story was subpar.

The characters were flat, I wasn't convinced of any real
friendship between them, and then when you get to the reveal of the book, it's just incredibly off the walls and unbelievable.

Why we needed a message about "don't ban books!" told through this story? I don't know. Don't waste your time like
I did.

I loved The Amendment series but at this point I need to stop reading from this author because those 3 books have been the only ones from her I enjoyed and I've read a decent amount from her.

I always jump at the chance to read the next Kiersten Modglin book; her writing draws you in from the very beginning and the twists are frequently some of the most unexpected and shocking. While this book did draw me in and get me invested in the story of the book influencers, the ending was unbelievable, and not in the way that I wanted or expected. There was so much that didn’t work for me: the characters were shallow and flat, I had a difficult time distinguishing between them, and the TSTL ending was too much.

I say this Everytime - but this is my new fav read of KMods. I loved the book influencer idea! Would have been cool to use some of our bookstagram names, but I can see the issue with that - too many fans not enough characters. Lol.

In typical KMod style you’ll be in the middle of reading a conversation taking place when all of a sudden BAM action. This book doesn’t fall short in that area - it excels.

I loved the game the group played. I laughed when one confession was “as soon as I decide I hate a book I go to all the 1 star reviews to find my people” 😂 this is something I do. While I’ve only given 2-3 1 star ratings, I’ve done this every time.

Didn’t really care for the cults agenda - only bad thing I have to say about it. Loved loved loved that we had figure out who actually lived in the house next door. Now that was just pure BRILLIANT!!

Waiting patiently for the next KMod book - this is what I love most about KMod - we get so many new books per year !!!! I wouldn’t want it any other way!

This book is so twisted and full of surprises that I had to reach up and touch the top of my head to stop it from spinning! Seriously, when book influencers go away for a weekend together, the fun and games begin. The group don’t really know each other except online but they are bonded because of their love for books. Their getaway takes an unexpected turn when Lena, one of the influencers, notices some strange events going on next door. I must say that I don’t think I have ever read a book as quickly as I sped through this one. I just had to know what was going to happen to this group! With a fast pace and relatable characters (especially since I consider myself an influencer on the fringes), this book is not to be missed by book lovers who enjoy psychological thrillers with a profoundly significant underlying message to readers. This is a brilliant look into the lives of influencers on vacation in a captivating and edgy setting.

"You'll Never Know I'm Here" is a fantastic book and thanks to Kiersten it will make me think twice before meeting up with my online book friends, lol.

The story follows six book influencers that set out for a weekend getaway to finally meet and connect with each other. They envision a retreat filled with relaxation, collaboration, and vibrant discussions about their beloved books. However, right from the outset, a sense of unease permeates the air.

This gripping novel delves into the realms of suspense and terror, taking readers on a heart-pounding journey alongside the characters. With each page, the plot thickens, weaving a tapestry of fear, uncertainty, and relentless pursuit of answers.

"You'll never know I'm here" is a masterfully crafted tale, delivering a potent blend of mystery, tension, and spine-chilling moments. Kiersten skillfully keeps readers on the edge of their seats, yearning to uncover the truth while instilling a sense of dread that lingers long after the final page is turned.
