I don’t want to share my enemy’s bed or wear his wedding ring. But I’ll do it if it means protecting my father’s diner… FML.
Jesse Taylor has found a million ways to make my life hell. He arrests me, pats me down, and impounds my car. He shows up at my diner and grills me in front of my customers. He mocks me with his special nickname for me, “Angel”. The insufferable deputy takes pleasure in seeing me squirm, and I despise him for it. So when Jesse proposes a marriage of convenience, I flip him off. He’s the devil in uniform, and I will not be swayed. Until my diner is threatened. And I realize taking the deal is my only way out. I need protection. He needs to clean up his image. The rules are simple. One. We share his bed. Two. He calls me “my wife.” Three. We don’t fall in love. Even when his gaze softens along with his touches. Or when he puts it all on the line to give me what I’ve always wanted. I guess rules are made to be broken. I just hope Jesse doesn’t break what’s left of my heart.

This was a ridiculous ooey-gooey adorable fast love story and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

It was fast-paced and sweet with no third act breakup which made it super easy to read all in one sitting.

Jesse and Marci were particularly adorable together even when they “hated” each other. I liked that he fell first and was incredibly vocal about taking care of Marci and putting her first.

The slight mystery/romantic suspense storyline was a fun addition to the story too. It wasn’t too heavy or intense but kept the book from being complete fluff. I kinda like called the plot twist from a mile away but it was still fun to read.

I can’t wait to read the next book! We got a couple of Hannah x Savage interactions during this one and it definitely has me intrigued and excited for more.

Marci desperately needs to pay off her debts to save her fathers diner, & Jesse needs to clean up his image to hopefully become the town’s new sheriff. Jesse proposes that they get fake married to solve both their issues, but they’re not allowed to fall in love which should be easy seeing as how much they despise one another… right?

Enemies to lovers, best friends brother, AND marriage of convenience?! These are all some of my top fave tropes in one book so of course I ate this book up! Every time I picked this book up to read a few chapters at a time, I ended up devouring it so quickly! The spice was insane, the romance was so charming & sweet, & the mystery/suspense plot kept me engaged & on the edge of my seat👏🏼

Marci is a firecracker, feisty, sassy, badass, & ballsy. She’s spent most of her life trying to keep her criminal brother out of jail, which unfortunately has almost resulted in her being thrown in jail too, but she never gives up on him because she’s that selfless & caring. Jesse was so damn hot. The mouth on this man?!😮‍💨 he was also so freaking sweet & charming, & such a natural flirt, & I loved the way he riled Marci up🙈 This man cooked for her 24/7, bought coffee from her diner just to see her smile, helped her with her money issues, & was always there to protect her. His need to use “my wife” in every second sentence had me kicking my feet & giggling🤭

Marci’s & Jesse’s initial hatred for one another was so funny but it also created SO much tension between them which had me feeling so giddy🤭 I loved the progression of their relationship, & the way their emotional connection kept getting stronger. Their physical (hot damn🥵) & emotional chemistry were amazing, & their banter was top notch & actually really funny.

This was my first time reading a book by Bailey Hart, and I truly enjoyed it! It's fast-paced and very easy to read. If you enjoy fake marriage with some hatred to love, this is the book for you.

Even though they "hated" each other, Jesse and Marci had a particularly cute relationship. I appreciated that he put Marci first and was so passionate about caring for her.

Seeing the two of them develop together was wonderful to witness. It was amazing how Jesse spent his time and energy to provide Marci with the best support possible.

I adore the part of the book that is about found family. Although the plot isn't overly complicated, there is an element of mystery and suspense.

Thank you Grey’s Promotions and Bailey Hart for providing me with this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

💍enemies to lovers
💍marriage of convenience
💍small town
💍one bed
💍my WIFE

I liked both characters from the previous book in the series , and they did not disappoint in this one !

I love a small town romance and I love the marriage of convenience trope so this book was made for me ! 🥰

It made me laugh , it made me happy cry, it made angry and made me anxious! I loved the banter but the sweet moments made this book for me . Jesse knew how to sweep me off my feet! I liked how their relationship developed. Not to fast so it will seem unusual and not to slow so it would seem dragging.

If you’re looking for a small town romance , where the main characters discover love where they thought will never find , and also discover themselves and learn that they are good enough this is the perfect book for you ❤️.

I really enjoyed it and I’ll be reading it again for sure !
I highly recommended the first book from the series as well : Sunshine love 🌻

Bailey Hart didn't come to play with this book. Oh my freaking goodness...

Jesse Taylor is a deputy for the Sheriff's department in the small town of Heatstroke. He is also smoking hot... and Marci's arch nemesis.
Marci owns the café in the town and it is currently in trouble and she might have to sell it. She has a troublemaker brother who is always getting in trouble with the law and has a slight hatred towards officers anyways because of a situation that happened in the past.

Jesse and Marci have never gotten along... but one day he comes to her asking if she will fake marry him while he runs his campaign for Sheriff and says that he will help her with the cafe and keep her and her family safe, as they are in a little bit of trouble.
She doesn't want to agree but at this point... there may not be any other options.

As these two learn to live with each other and share their lives together.... they grow closer and learn the little things about each other that seem to simmer that hate that they feel towards each other. In the end.... will this relationship between them still be fake... or will secrets come out and make it a little more real?

Loved this book so much and I need y'all to read it the day it releases (2.22.24)

“You’re my wife,”
“fake or not, and I’m going to protect you, worship you, and treat you with the respect that is your right. I don’t have love to give you, but orgasms won’t be a problem.”

This is second book in the Heatstroke Hearts series and it was so good. This book had me at fake marriage.

Marci owns the diner in town along with her troublemaking brother things aren’t going to good for her. Jesse is a deputy for the sheriff department, who no one take serious. Jesse and Marci have never gotten along but that all changes when he asks her to fake marry him while he runs for sheriff. At first she thinks he crazy but when her diner is threatened and she needs protection, she agree with his plan. They made rules but you know what they say rules are meant to be broken. And soon the lines between real and fake blur. Will they be able to make something real out of some that was fake?
These two had chemistry and banter throughout the book and once they started opening up to each other only made their relationship stronger. These two definitely didn’t disappoint in the spice department, once they gave in, they couldn’t keep their hands off each other. They way their relationship develops from the beginning to end is great, especially as they realize their feelings. Overall, I enjoyed the book and the characters. I can’t wait for the next book.

I could not put this book down at all!! The second I got it I started reading and omg it was so beautiful!!

Jesse & Marci were absolutely perfect for each other!! I was sad with how much she hated him at first cause it seemed like he was just doing his job but then at some point we got told more of what caused it and I understood why.

But omg finding out they both liked each other beforehand made me so happy it was so so cute!! But what wasn’t cute was her asshole manipulative bitch of a brother!! (Sorry that actually pissed me off when he came clean I felt my blood actually boiling from that) I HATED HIM AFTER HE ADMITTED HE WAS DOING ALL THAT TO HIMSELF AND HE PIT HER AT DANGER SO MANY TIMES!?!? IDK WHY BUT I HAD SUCH AN EASY READ THAT HE SHOULDNT BE TRUSTED AND I WAS RIGHT!!

Anyways.. this book was a very fun read probably the most I’ve been hooked on a book cause I didn’t put it down at all I would definitely

Recommend if you love

Favorite quote/s: “Things haven’t always been easy, but I can’t picture my life without you. I want to spend the rest of it, devoted to showing you that you were made to be loved, and that I’m the one who was made to love you.

I loved reading "Sunshine love" and I knew that this would not be an exception.

I got intrigues by Marci and Jesse since the previous books and they really justified my expectations.

He was the town deputy that needs to clean his image in order to win the elections for the new sherif. She was the one that tried to save her father's dinner and kept her brother out of trouble, which never worked. Jesse always gives her trouble and getting on her nerves all the time and she infuriates him (or at least it only looks like it). But neither of them can't ignore the sizzling attraction and they both need each other help.

Well, they only need to spent more time together and this fake marriage it the ideal chance for them to finally explore the sparks that are brewing every single day. To me, this helped a lot, because they can finally drop their guards down, stop fighting and fell in love. Together they were strong. They understood each other better, take care for one another. Because even that they did 't admitteded at first, together they are team. Seeing their love developing was the sweetest thing ever.

Their sex scenes...OMG...the sex scenes. They were hot, steamy and passionate. There was so much smut and the kink was better than ever. Jesse's dirty mouth was so so hot 🥵. I loves Marci and Jesse unleash their attraction.

Overall, I loved reading "Fake in love".

I am fully obsessed!!! After reading the first book in this series, I knew I had to go straight to the second one! Jesse and Marci!!! I love enemies to lovers/fake marriage so I was so excited! These two were absolute perfection. This story was so captivating and truly made me feel all the emotions. Jesse was so protective, and caring, and kind. And Marci was so strong. The suspense with her brother and the case of her father’s death kept me on my toes. Seeing their relationship form was special! The way it was always Marci for Jesse was the cutest. The pictures, the cat, him investing in her diner. This series is so good and I can’t wait for Hannah and Savage’s story next!!!

I am so upset that I didn't really enjoy this book. I loved book one and I had such high hopes for book two. I just felt like there was never enough built up tension between Marci and Jesse especially since this was enemies to lovers. It felt like the switch happened too fast and we didn't get that drawn out angst between the two characters. I also felt that the timing of everything felt a little off and forced. I did love Jesse and I loved seeing all the things he did for Marci, I just can't get past the not enough tension.

I thought I loved Sunshine Love, but Fake in Love just takes it to the next level - this one hits different!

I absolutely adore how well handled some very difficult real life issues are in this book (e.g., family loss, addiction/criminality). Bailey Hart knows how to perfectly mix sweet fluffy romance and a healthy dose of spice with the reality of family struggles. I was in love with Jesse and Marci right from the get go. The ending brought tears to my eyes and gave me everything I wanted.

If you enjoy enemies to lovers and fake dating/marriage, you cannot miss out on reading this one!

REVIEW POST - Book 13 of 2024

Fake in Love by Bailey Hart

Huge thanks to @greyspromo and @baileyhartromance for this book. Bailey is a new to me author and I will definitely be reading more. I loved this story between Jesse and Marci, or Angel and Taylor after this book.

I love the side characters that were brought in without overloading their story. I like the side story of Marci's family and the history there. And I love the connection between these two.

Can we also take a moment to appreciate cst parent love? So many books are written with dogs in the household and I salute you Bailey for making them both cat lovers. Mr Skitters has my heart 🐾

This man would go to hell and back for this girl and Bailey sure knows how to write a fictional man 😍
Got serious Lucifer vibes when I pictured him in his suit too 😉

Bailey Hart writes these perfect small town romance that I can’t help but fall in love; and, this book was no exception. It made me swoon one moment, and it made me sit on the edge of my seat filled with anxiety the next. Hart’s writing has this way of pulling you so easily into the world that they create. Jesse and Marci’s romance story was so so good. I loved how this, tough and grumpy guy changes into goop whenever he’s around the heroine, Marci. I loved how easily they seemed to understand and vibe with each other. And Marci’ character was without any doubt is my most favourite thing about this book. I am so excited for the next book already, seriously can’t wait!

Aah I always love it when the MMC is secretly in love with the FMC but acts so nonchalantly about it, bonus point that they are enemies/ frenemies, and in the end, it’s so satisfying when the FMC finds out/ the MMC admits the truth, and we can finally see how far he’d go for her.

All the feels!

This was written very nicely. The storyline flowed really well with lots of lighthearted, homey yet interesting and fast-paced details and events, never a dull moment with them.

Their chemistry was good as well. I really like their relationship development, how they slowly bonded and became comfortable around each other, how they changed from frenemies (well at least to me they were) to friends to lovers, how they were so supportive yet still bickering and playful with each other,… They were so in love with each other without even realizing it that, and I quote from Hannah, aka the best friend and the sister,
“Boo. You’re in love. Gross!”

Even though, I’d probably love it a lot more if the FMC had taken more time to consider his proposition instead of agreeing so easily like that. I mean I totally understand that she was kind of desperate trying to save her father’s diner, but if my sworn enemy asked me to fake marry him, I’d think it was hella sus, maybe he was trying to prank me or something. Idk I admit I have trust issues but with such proposition, I don’t think she, they, or anyone, should treat it lightly, If not then, idk, I guess it’s just me…

Also, I was kind of annoyed when Jesse, our MMC, was heavily mentioned and described throughout the book as this infamous playboy/ manwhore of the town that no one took him seriously because of it. Idk, to me, he gave off the exact opposite vibes, he didn’t sleep around, he didn’t flirt with ows, at least there were no indications of it when he was with the FMC, so basically the whole book, and there was only one ex of him that made an appearance but he shut her down right away. He was a cocky cop? Maybe. But a manwhore? Well I’m not so sure. But what if he was a manwhore, that didn’t define who he was and what he did for the community. So at some points along the way, I seriously felt for him because that shit got real tired after a while, give him, and me, a break.

Anyway, my favorite moment(s) of this book would probably be when they, or more like Jesse, tried to bond with Mr. Skitters. He won me over the moment he said that he was waiting for Mr. Skitters to adopt him, zamn I was so swooned!! Just look at this,

“I’m sorry, what?”
Jesse unbuttons the top of his shirt, exposing a sliver of chest and dark hair.
“Mr. Skitters. My cat.”

“You. You have a cat?”

“Do you think I’m actually the devil?” he asks. “Why the surprise?”
“You don’t strike me as a cat lover. I thought you’d keep snakes. Or white rabbits. Like an evil mastermind.”

He chuckles. “Nah. I like cats. But Mr. Skitters isn’t technically my cat. He’s a stray cat that I’m trying to make into my cat. It’s been a journey.” He lifts his hand and shows off a scratch. “But we’re getting closer. I’m hoping he adopts me soon.”

Overall, this was a really nice and lighthearted read, I enjoyed this a lot and had a really good time.

Marci and Jesse certainly have snark down to an art. Since they were teenagers, they have goaded, insulted and sniped at each other constantly, but anyone observing has noticed their hot chemistry and the attraction between them, though both will keep denying it. With her brother constantly in trouble, her family’s past history, and her smarmy ex, Marci has her reasons for hating anyone in law enforcement. Jesse is a deputy sheriff who seems to always be pulling her aside for one reason or another. He relishes taunting her in front of friends and family, especially at the events his sister and her best friend commands her to attend.

Jesse also seems to be close at hand to protect her when she and the diner she inherited from her father are threatened. Her refusal to involve the police in these incidents in an effort to protect her brother infuriates him. He comes up with a plan that he thinks will benefit them both. He needs to clean up his player image in order to be taken seriously in the next election for Sheriff. Being fake engaged, or even better, fake married will help the townspeople see him in a better light. Marci needs protection and being married to a deputy sheriff will give her that, at least to some degree. She agrees to the plan after they set some ground rules, including no sex and no falling in love. Both are surprised when everyone says they knew it would happen. What are seeing that they don’t?

It doesn’t take long for the togetherness and the public displays of affection to wear on their nerves, eat at their resistance and lead them to indulge in super heated kisses that both want to take further. How long can they resist the pull toward each other, the need to take things further than a few very hot kisses? They very much like the new sides they begin to see of each other, the vulnerable sides they have long hidden from each other and even themselves to some extent. They both have a whole lot of tangled emotions, fears and uncertainties to sort through and neither wants to reveal the deeper feelings they carry within their hearts. While they are trying to figure out what to do about each other, her brother’s problems are escalating which could bring more danger her way, and there are those who want to cause trouble between and for them. What comes next? Will they take a chance on love and each other?

I have to admit that I loved the snark between these two as much as I loved that they finally realized they loved each other and the way they stood up for each other when needed. They are both stubborn, determined and unfailing loyal to family, and just so easy to love. Their story was intriguing, entertaining and rather addictive. So much so, I am looking forward to reading more books by this author.

💚 ARC Review 💚

This was my very first Bailey Hart romance and it definitely won't be my last! She writes the perfect small-town romances that you can't help but fall in love with - this book was no exception. One moment I was swooning, the next I was sitting on the edge of my seat with anticipation. Hart's writing style draws you into the world they create so easily. As soon as I started reading, I couldn't put it down - it had me hooked. It had me laughing right from the start. I loved the chemistry between Marci and Jesse so much and the banter between them was magnificent!

Marci is left empty-handed and tries everything she can to save her restaurant and keep her brother out of trouble. But when he borrows money from the wrong person, his debt is suddenly passed on to Marci and she doesn't know what to do. Until her best friend's brother, Jesse Taylor, approaches her with an idea. He wants to run for sheriff but needs a woman to polish his image, and she needs protection from her brother's loan shark. What could possibly go wrong - except that they hate each other. But she would do anything to save her place - even marry the enemy. But rule number 1 "Never sleeping together", shall never be broken. Like Ever...

I have to admit that I loved the teasing between them as much as the fact that they finally realized they loved each other. The way they stand up for each other when they need to - I knew that both of them would finally admit their feelings for each other.

Both of them are stubborn, determined, and undeniably loyal to their family, and it's just so easy to love them. But the way Jesse and Marci stand up for each other is something special! They didn't let their past get in the way of their happy ending! I love how they encourage each other to pursue happiness 🥺💗

Also, I adored how Mr.Skitters captured the heart of Jesse and how much Jesse wanted him to accept him and live in his house. It was so cute 🥺

Thank you Bailey for this ARC 🫶🏻💗

𝐌𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬:

Fake In Love is book 2 in the Heatstroke Hearts series and since I absolutely devoured Sunshine Love (book 1), I was beyond thrilled when I was offered the opportunity to receive an advanced copy of Fake In Love.

If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers, this book is for you. The banter between Marci and Jesse is absolute gold. I could not get enough of it. Honestly, the fake dating/fake relationship trope is probably one of my least favourite tropes out there, but Marci and Jesse’s dynamic is so entertaining that it completely made up for it in my book.

Marci is a hilarious fireball who doesn’t care what people think and isn’t afraid to speak her mind. Contrast her with Jesse, the deputy, who is a tea drinking, stray-cat rescuing, reformed ladies-man who is constantly trying to live up to what everyone expects him to be… and also, who doesn’t love a man in uniform? Amirite?

Bailey Hart has a knack for writing lovable, complex characters that you can’t help but fall in love with. Speaking of which… @baileyhartromance, I’ll just be over here patiently waiting for Savage and Hannah. No pressure. 💚

Tropes:
☕️Enemies to lovers
🚔Fake relationship/Marriage of convenience
☕️One bed
🚔Small town
☕️Don’t touch her
🚔He falls first

Disclaimer: I received this book at no cost from the publisher/author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. I am leaving a voluntary review and all opinions are my own.

I was totally floored by this adorable love story! The fake relationship and enemies-to-lovers tropes are some of my favorites and they really held up nicely in this story.

Bailey Hart has a wonderful writing style that really played to my emotions. Her writing was fluid and the plot kept me entertained.

Marci and Jesse were such relatable characters that I felt an instant kinship with them.

The banter between Marci and Jesse was great. The enemies-to-lovers trope was so amusing in this book because the characters really played off of each other well. I loved that Jesse was the one who fell first and how he supported Marci throughout the story.

Overall, this was a marriage-of-convenience story that really delivered. If you are a fan of small-town romance with a dash of suspense, this book is for you. The characters are relatable and the storytelling is fantastic and immersive. I'll be watching for more from this author and can't wait for the next book in this series!

Just when I think second chance and friends to lovers is my favorite, one of my favorite authors writes an enemies to lovers and it blows me away.

This book features Jesse and Marci. If you read the first book in the series- you know Jesse is Cash's brother, and Marci is Junes bestie.... Let's just say Jesse and Marci can't stand each other. Absolutely despise one another.

Jesse Taylor is a deputy for the sheriffs department and he loves nothing more than to give Marci (Angel) hell. He has always teased her, and it just grew into something more.. always having to mess with her.... but you know what they say.. there is a THIN line between love and hate. When Jesse wants to run for sheriff and finds out he can't do it alone- will his real feelings for Marci come to the forefront?

Marci Walsh is so tired of Jesse Taylor walking around like a pompous, know it all, has everything he's ever wanted jerk. She can't stand him because of all said things- and because he's a cop. After Marcis mom walked out on them, an her dad died, she was left to raise her brother the best she knew how. Turns out he is always in some kind of trouble and now Marci is the one paying for it. Will she always bail him out?

When Jesse and Marci are in need of a little help, the create a plan to FAKE MARRY to get what they want.. This book is so good. The banter and the tension between the two had me laughing, and sweating... I mean WHOA Jesse Taylor has a dirty freakin mouth and I will NEVER look at an arm chair in the corner of the bedroom the same.

4.5 stars sister. I loved it so much.
