He’s been serving in the military for a decade. She’s been quietly grieving a devastating loss. When Finn and Edith reunite in small-town Three Rivers where they grew up together, can their second chance romance provide hope, healing, and the happily-ever-after they both crave?
Finley Ackerman left home ten years ago, determined to figure out who he was and what he wanted his life to be. He’s been serving in the Army, but when the opportunity to get out of intelligence and go home to Three Rivers comes up, Finn jumps at it.
He’s expecting a huge homecoming at Three Rivers Ranch. He’s even expecting the Welcome Home banners draped across Main Street in town. He’s not expecting to run into Edith Baxter literally the moment he gets out of his truck.
Edith is just as surprised to see Finn—decked out in his uniform, no less—as she comes out of her equine therapy appointment at Three Rivers Ranch. But the moment she steps into his arms and welcomes him home, it’s as if choirs of angels start singing.
Perhaps he’s what she needs to finally move past the tragedies life has dealt her. She’s done her best to put her heart back together after the devastating loss of her fiancé a few years ago, and she does that by pouring everything she has into her children’s books and working a small patch of land not far from Finn’s sprawling family operation.
But she’s not whole, and she knows it. He does too, and as Finn and Edith start finding solace in one another, she learns that he carries his own scars. She’s not sure her heart will ever be whole enough to give to another cowboy, and Finn’s not sure exactly what’s next for him or how long he’s actually going to stay in town.
Can Edith and Finn make their second chance into a forever love? Or will life’s paths once again diverge, driving them apart for good?
Return to Three Rivers in this small-town saga romance where the legacy of the past meets the promise of the future. Revisit beloved characters and fall in love with a new generation in the Second Generation in Three Rivers Romance series!
Trigger Edith's fiancé dies from a fast-growing brain cancer. It is mentioned, and she mourns him, but there is nothing graphic on on-page about his illness and he's been gone for almost 3 years when this book begins.

I enjoyed this second chance romance set in a small town ranching community. Edith and Finn reconnected early in the book and their hearts definitely led them back to each other. They were both drawn to each other, not only from their past connection as teenagers, but also in a way that wanted to move forward together. However, there were obstacles to a smooth happily ever after for them.
Finn struggled to see how he fit within his family and what he should do with his life after ten years in the military. At the same time, he was falling in love with Edith. I liked seeing him find his footing and realizing what he wanted to do with his life. But then there was Edith’s struggle.
Edith was still mired in grief from love lost. She functioned day to day, worked with a therapist, and was thankful for the close relationship she had with her brother. Yet, as her love for Finn grew, Edith fell deeper into the horrible feelings of loss she had been living with for three years. Would she ever be able to give her heart fully to Finn?
This is the first book in a new series, yet it is definitely very connected to the other book series that came before it. There are many side characters from previous novels. You do not have to have read these earlier books to enjoy this one, but should be prepared for lots of family connections from prior stories.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.
“She’d been living since Levi’s death, but she hadn’t been dreaming. She hadn’t been improving. She hadn’t been growing. Now, she saw the world in color for what it was—and what it could be.”
I’ve read a couple of romcoms by this author under a different pen name and really enjoyed them, but I devoured this second chance cowboy romance. It just really clicked with me.
I loved Finn and Edith, and how they were immediately drawn to each other the moment they saw each other again. I loved how openly Finn communicated with Edith, and how patient he was with her as she was still grieving the loss of her fiancé. Their romance was so sweet!
This is very much a character driven story, with a strong sense of family and community bonds. I loved the Texas ranch setting, the realistic challenges these ranchers faced, and the way people came together to help each other out without a second thought.
This is a new series about the second generation from a previous series. There were a lot of characters from that first series and, not having read that yet, it was a lot to keep track of, but it didn’t take away from how much I enjoyed this book. It just made me want to go back and read the previous books.
The Cowboy Who Came Home is the first book in the Second Generation in Three Rivers Romance series. There are 17 books in the first Three Rivers Romance series and from what I’ve gathered, The Cowboy Who Came Home starts off a series involving the kids of the couples in the first series.
Finn Ackerman is home after 10 years of serving in the military. He’s not sure what he wants to do with the rest of his life, but when he runs into his ex-girlfriend, Edith Baxter, he jumps on the chance to get to know her again. His feelings for her never died.
Edith has been through a great loss after returning to Three Rivers several years before, and she’s still grieving. But when Finn Ackerman asks her out, she has feelings she hasn’t felt since the death of her fiancé, and she must decide if she’s able to open her heart to another man.
This was my first cowboy romance from Liz Isaacson, and it did not disappoint. I’ve read her Southern Roots rom com series (published under the name Elana Johnson) and loved them, so I had a pretty good idea that I’d enjoy The Cowboy Who Came Home. But since cowboy romance isn’t the first sub genre I gravitate towards, I hadn’t ventured into the world of Three Rivers, Texas. I’m glad I did, because now I’m hooked and I’m excited to read the next book when it comes out in May <3 I loved that the characters were flawed and had struggles. They didn’t have perfect lives but wrestled with real issues. So relatable. I also loved the faith elements woven into each character’s development. Also, while the book is dual POV, it also includes chapters from side characters' points of view, I believe with the purpose of setting up the next book. I wasn’t expecting it, but it worked well.
Read The Cowboy Who Came Home if you like books with: - Sweet, clean romance - Cowboys - Second chances - Faith elements - Dual POV - Silly nicknames 😊 - Flawed characters working through real issues - An extended cast of characters woven throughout multiple books
Intimacy: Kisses Only Sensitive Topics: grief, death of a loved one (before the start of the book)
Romance, sweet, contemporary, western, cowboy, military; series but stand alone read Finn and Edith’s story was a sweet, second chance romance. Both have insecurities and fears, doubts and worries, and both loved who they were 10 years ago. Working through problems, spending time together, being with family, talking about their past, and mistakes importantly, building a present and future made for a lovely read. Pets, horses, animals, fa life, and Finn figuring out his future, along with Edith, healing from the past, made for a lovely second chance. Fun setting, lots of fun side stories that continue from other novels, and of course, set the stage for the next novel, made for a lovely fall, and fun read.
First of all, a fun read to come back to Coral Canyon and Texas and everything going on there. Some hints of future stories and definitely a suspenseful time with severe flooding, sinkholes, and storms. All part of life in the panhandle. Finley and Edith have some catching up to do but can they get a second chance? Thoroughly enjoyed reading. Maybe I want to reread all the Coral Canyon books but it is not necessary to understand or enjoy this book.
The Cowboy Who Came Home was my first experience with a novel by Liz Isaacon, and I was pleasantly surprised by this wholesome and heartwarming love story.
Finn Ackerman has returned home after serving in the military for the past decade, and he can't believe that his former teenage girlfriend, Edith Baxter, ends up being one of the first people he runs into. Edith has returned home to help her brother run his new ranch, and is still healing from the tragic loss of her fiancé three years ago. Neither Finn or Edith are sure where their future is headed, but neither can deny the draw they feel towards each other. As they learn to trust each other and the One who holds our stories in His hands, they may just find their own way to the happily ever after they've both dreamed about.
With a wonderful second chance romance, realistic situations that leave the reader compelled to not want to leave the story, and a focus on the importance of faith, family and community, this was truly a wonderful story and a lovely first experience with a book for me by this author. I haven't read too many cowboy romances from different authors over the years, and this was definitely an enjoyable experience for me.
I'd only want to quickly mention that while this definitely can be read as a standalone, it was a little difficult for me to keep up with the many, many characters that have chapters throughout the story, who apparently were the protagonists of their own romances earlier in the author's books. I honestly kind of just stopped trying to figure out who was who with these chapters, and instead just focused on enjoying the story and the wonderful relationship that seemed to exist between the various many family members.
The only other minor thing I wanted to quickly mention was that I found it a tad strange that all the adult children referenced their fathers as "daddy", definitely not a major thing, but it seemed a tad weird to me, and often because of this I was expecting the children to be quite young, before the author went on to mention they were young adults or in high school.
Overall though, I ended up loving this one, and I'm happy say to my first experience with a novel by Liz Isaacson was a positive one.
Final Rating: 4/5.
Definitely a wonderful story, and one I'd recommend to anyone who enjoys wholesome, faith based cowboy romances.
Thanks so much to Liz Isaacson for allowing me to read and review this title!
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary advance reader copy of this novel from the author. I was not required to give a positive review. All thoughts and opinions are my own, and this is my honest review.

Review: This story is beautiful, Edith and Finn are so sweet together. They slowly get to know each other again as they didn’t meet for many years. And he is always by her side giving her the comfort that she needs. And both of them encouraged each other and also always ask God for help when they need to make decisions in life. Love that he kept on checking on her through calling and texting to make sure she is alright and also help her in her book signing event too. And I love to see that all of the different ranchers coming together and work together to make sure everyone is safe from the flood and you can see God’s hands working in their lives. And also, Alex being a brother is always worried for his sister. He encouraged his sister to move on and find someone who care and cherished her. And also he is a great brother. Hope that could read about his story too. (if Liz is going to write it) hehe… And then I love the fact that she wrote other characters from other ranches as well to see the unity of all of them working together. And Link and Mitch are the scene stealers which made me want to learn sign language to talk to them.
This is written by Elana Johnson but under the name of Liz Isaacson. And this is the 1st book of the Second Generation of Three Rivers romance series.
Thank you, Elana Johnson for the ARC!
Can’t wait for the 2nd book it will be Link and Misty’s story. It will be a fun read.
And if you haven't read the 1st generation of the Three Rivers series. Please do check it out. And her other series too.
You can purchase her books on Amazon and it is available on KU.
The Cowboy Who Came Home is the first book in the Second Generation in Three Rivers Romance, but while it's the first book in THIS series, there have been other series set in this same location and there is some character crossover there. Having not read any of those previous books, I did find it to be a lot of characters to sort out in my head, but once I got everyone straight, I was definitely able to enjoy this just fine as a standalone.
I appreciate a good second-chance romance, and this was definitely a sweet one. When Finn returns home after serving in the military, he runs into his old high school girlfriend Edith and the two reconnect. Edith is healing from the loss of her fiancé. I think that can be a difficult topic to make work in a romance--- that idea of moving forward and loving deeply, while also not taking away from that love and loss. I thought this book did so beautifully. It was an important part of their story and brought its share of challenges, but I loved seeing two flawed characters learn to overcome everything life had dealt them to have their second chance at a happily ever after. These two were so sweet together and I couldn't help but be drawn into their story.
While the romance was great, of course, this book also had beautiful messages of family, community and faith that helped to make it all that much better too. We are also given some glimpses at some of the characters whose stories are still to come, which had me really looking forward to seeing what comes next.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
"I just got home," he said. "This morning. My momma is planning a big welcome home party tonight." He stepped back, ideas afiring through his mind like machine gun shots. "You should come." Edith's blue eyes widened, and she shook her head. "No, I don't think so."
Finn is trying to find his place after serving his country. Edith is trying to find her own new start after tragedy. Can these high school sweethearts find a way back to each other? Or are there too many obstacles in the way now that they are grown up?
It took me a bit to warm up to Edith as I found her to be a bit awkward. Finn is perhaps overly infatuated with her at first as she seemed a bit dull. But gradually I began to understand why her back story had such an impact. I came to really enjoy their part of the storyline.
I loved the small town aspect of this town. Everyone wanted to be there for each other. When others were facing struggles, they did not face them alone.
This book is a new series, but it is strongly connected to many characters in the author's previous series. I had not read any of the previous books, so I felt rather lost at times. So many points of view were presented that I could not keep track. The author did provide a story chart which did help. But my main problem was that I did not fully know the previous storylines enough to care about catching up with these characters.
Now that I have read this book, I might enjoy the next books that feature characters that I met. The romance was sweet. The book was a good one overall.
Finley Ackerman returns home after ten years in military intelligence. While happy to be home, Finn struggles to find his place among his family and on their ranch. However, Edith Baxter is a welcome distraction from the pressure to make decisions about his future.
Edith is doing equine therapy at Three Rivers as she attempts to deal with the tragic loss of her fiancé a few years ago. She's also helping her brother on his ranch and writing children’s books about horses.
We love a good cowboy story and add to that one returning home from the military and we’re sold! This was our first introduction to Isaacson and we quickly learned she was a prolific writer. The town of Three Rivers has involved many storylines and we could tell much of the backstory was lost to us. This was disappointing because we love multifaceted connections and all the nuances of character relationships.
Within this novel there was a main storyline between Finn and Edith, but unfortunately, it didn’t spark deep meaning for us. We also found Finn’s timidity at times to be counterintuitive to having worked in military intelligence. However, there was a secondary storyline involving another character named Lincoln which sparked more interest and had us anticipating reading the second book in this Second Chance Romance and Small Town series.
We received an advance copy from the author. This is our honest review.
This was a sweet read. I was not sure what to expect since I had never read a Liz Isaacson book before but I ended up enjoying it. The Cowboy Who Came Home is the first book in Liz Isaacson’s new series, Second Generation in Three Rivers Romance. Edith and Finn were complicated characters. They were both trying to find themselves. Life had thrown them some curveballs and they were figuring out how to deal with them. Edith and Finn were sweet together and I liked reading about their interactions. The side characters were also a lot of fun. This was an enjoyable read but I had a harder time connecting with the characters. I was also a little confused by all the characters. This series is part of a multiple series world but it was supposed to be standalone. However, there were a few times when I was confused. But overall, the book was a fun read. The romance was sweet and I wanted to see how Edith and Finn were going to work out their issues. I would recommend this book to those who have read books by Liz Isaacson before and those who enjoyed contemporary faith inspired romances. The Cowboy Who Came Home is a clean contemporary romance. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, I was not required to write a positive review.
This was my first Liz Isaacson book and overall I really enjoyed it! Finn and Edith are both such likable characters. If you enjoy a good second chance romance with faith elements, then I think you will enjoy this book.
Finn and Edith’s relationship was very realistic. They both had some significant issues to work through, and I think the author did a great job of walking them through those. There was great character development! I enjoyed their banter, Edith’s random nicknames for Finn, and the hope I felt for them that was threaded throughout their story.
I’m also looking forward to what comes next for Alex and Link. The author did a good job of setting up their stories and leaving the reader wanting more.
The only reason I gave this book 4 stars was because of the amount of past characters in the book. Even though this is a new book in a new series and is a standalone, there were a lot of characters from prior series that connect to this one. They have already had their stories told, but it was a struggle to keep track of everyone and how they all fit together. I often felt like I was missing out on something. Once I put that feeling aside and just focused on Finn and Edith, I enjoyed the story a lot more.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
I truly did enjoyed this read even though I was not sure what to expect since I had never read a Liz Isaacson book before. Seeing this is a "first" in a series I thought this could be a good place to start. I was not wrong, HOWEVER, I will point out that I have learned that many of the older characters mentioned throughout the book have ties to a different series about their romances, etc and so there were a few times I was a bit confused with mentions of characters and how they were connected as well as keeping track of it but I will say it really does not take away from this story.
The romance between Finn and Edith was charming and sweet. I liked when the author added bits of their prior dating history and seeing how life's experiences have shaped and molded them. Finn is home from serving in the military and knew God was calling him back and running into Edith was the icing on the cake that cemented it for him. He is totally charming and swoon worthy cowboy. The love and respect he has for his mom and dad and his family as well as the extended family just brings all the sweet family vibes -- sadly something you don't see a lot of in the world today. Seeing Edith for the first time in 10 years, sparked his old feelings that still remained for her and that he had to get to know her again as well as try and win her over. And sweet Edith, the love card she had been dealt was not an easy one. You have so much admiration for her and are rooting for her and Finn to find their ways back to each other. There was so much love, wisdom and support for these two between her brother Alex and Finn's family. The faith elements were beautiful touches and woven in perfectly. I love small town feels, especially ones like these with widespread ranges that are hit with a natural disaster and how everyone works together and helps one another like a true community.
After reading this book, it has me motivated to backtrack in previous series to familiarize myself more with many of the family and extended family characters in preparation for more that this series will bring!
I would absolutely recommend this book especially to those familiar with Liz Isaacson's prior stories but to those new to Liz's stories as well. The Cowboy Who Came Home is a clean contemporary romance. I recieved copy of this book from the author and all views expressed are only my honest opinion.
I received a free cop of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. Though I've read other books from the author's different pen names, this is the first one I've read of this pen name. This is book 1 in the Second Generation in Three Rivers Romance Series and could be read as a standalone, though you'll appreciate some of the families and characters more if you've read other books from the first generation. The book's blurb is straightforward, and do be aware that the book touches on loss (off page and in the past) and grief. The Cowboy Who Came Home is told through third person multiple pov and is a sweet story about finding love and purpose.
Just to make it clear, this is a Christian romance so faith themes are present throughout the story. However, even if you don't believe, as long as you don't have negative feelings towards God then you should still be able to enjoy this story.
Still grieving the loss of her fiancé, Edith is adjusting to life without him and trying to live a new normal. Like her, after serving in the military, Finn is retuning home and trying to adjust to the life of a civilian. Both are at a crosswords where they aren't sure what the future holds. Because of that, it was easy for them to reconnect and find comfort in the other.
Though both were in a place of uncertainty, their attraction towards each other and want to be a part of each other's lives was never a question. They didn't hesitate to be honest about their feelings and, though he was a man of action, Finn respected the space that Edith set. I liked how they communicated and shared feelings that weren't easy to say out loud. They each had healing to do and it was nice that their friendship could inspire the other. The romance was a clean one consisting of kisses, that focused on emotions, and no foul language was used. Overall, this was a sweet read perfect for readers looking for an hopeful read.
There is so much to love about this book! First let me say that though this is a continuation of another series, I really feel like you don't need to have read those books. Nice to visit some of the characters, but the author does not make you depend on previous knowledge. Finn and Edith... they are so CUTE!! They are a second chance romance, and both have their share of past baggage from the years apart. Edith struggles with a death of someone close, and Finn struggles with were to fit in after his service to his country and with his family. He is not sure what to do with his life really either, but he is a WONDERFUL kind hero. Edith is a strong and idependent woman, and works HARD!! This book has soo much, storms, sink holes, horse therapy, loss, insecurity., and overcoming all the obstacals. It has it all and and HEA to boot!! I do not know how Liz Isaacson comes up with so many different characters who are STRONG and amazing, but you FEEL this book from start to finish. It was WONDERFUL!!
It’s so good to be back in the Coral Canyon story world with these second generation stories! In this book we meet adult Finn who was first introduced in Isaacson’s Second Chance Ranch/Three Rivers series when he was a child. If you read the earlier book then it will be extra fun to see where life has taken Finn but if you haven’t, just enjoy this book; you should have no trouble understanding it. Finn has just returned home after a ten year stint in the army. One of the first people he happens across is Edith, his former high school sweetheart, and it seems that there are still sparks. I loved watching their second chance romance unfold as they were both trying to face the big changes in their lives and figure out what they wanted their futures to look like. This author excels in character development. I felt that the characters in this book were very relatable and I found myself really caring about them. This was a great beginning to a new series. Highly recommend! I received an ARC and this voluntary review contains my honest opinions.
If you are looking for a romance with hallmark vibes, Christian elements and a handsome cowboy, look no further. Isaacson delivers a story with emotion, growth and more in this second chance romance.
The personal experiences Edith has gone through, the loss, the highs, the lows. Her character is a good one. I enjoyed watching her shift in the novel. And Finn’s transition back into civilian life after years of military service really captured my attention. His faith journey with finding his place is one of my favorite parts of the story. And his love for Edith. He is just the sweetest with her.
It can be read as a stand-alone though I will admit at times I wished I had pieces of other stories better as there are a lot of characters in this story. I had to go back a couple times to make sure I knew who they were talking to, etc. Still though for being a second generation series I did catch onto more than I thought I would. And I really liked the characters that Isaacson teases for upcoming books in the series.
Overall, a sweet romance that will pull at the heartstrings and take you on a journey. I enjoyed my reading experience with it.
*I received a complimentary ecopy from the publisher/author and all opinions are my own.
This is another wonderful book by Liz Isaacson. Returning to Three Rivers Ranch we get to catch up with the characters and watch as the now grown son returns home from serving his country and comes to terms with what his next role is. Finn is a great character and the depth Liz creates is perfect. I love how he feels lost and while he is looking for signs of what to do next he continues to look inside himself and his faith. Finn was crazy about Edith but 10 years has passed, can they be the couple he misses? Edith has lived life and suffered loss and while she is happy to see Finn she isn't ready to open her heart just yet. Wonderful story and I love the topics Liz addresses with the characters and how it flows. Catching up with some of the second generation cowboys from the neighboring ranches feels natural. Love how some things have not changed and some have at Three Rivers. Wonderful read and I look forward to the next book in this continuing family series.
I really love a sweet second change romance novel. Liz Isaacson gave this to us and so much more in The Cowboy Who Came Home. Finn is just returning home after ten years when he runs into Edith. Both are immediately drawn together again, yet each have obstacles to overcome.
I really felt for Edith when it described all she went thru with her ex fiancé passing away from a brain tumor. I felt it was written in such a beautiful heart warming way that let you feel the pain she dealt with and was still experiencing.
Another thing I loved is the community and family bond. You got to see the challenges of life on a ranch and how they all joined together in times of crisis. There were a lot of characters and since it was my first Liz Isaacson book I think it will be really fun to go back and read the previous series.
If you love second chance, loving again after loss, rancher life and strong community ties this will be the series for you.
Return to Three Rivers! Finn returns home after joining the Army ten years ago. Edith has returned to Three Rivers with her brother and has suffered a great loss. Both are trying to figure out their future. They meet and there is still a spark from their high school romance. This is a wonderful, sweet, clean, inspirational romance. You will love how the family and community all pull together through good times and bad. This author has a wonderful smooth style that weaves a story and paints a picture that makes you feel like you are right there! This is a standalone book but you will want to read them all! I have read all the earlier books and after a few pages of this one I sighed and settled in—it was like coming home! I look forward to the other books in this series! Don’t miss this one!
This author, Liz Isaacson, never ceases to amaze me. So many books, so many series, and yet she is able to come up with new material and intertwine the series and characters seamlessly. I was not sure what to expect moving on to the next generation, but I loved this book of Finn and Edith. The obstacles and relationships that the characters face are relatable and you can't help but to be drawn into the story. Like you are part of the family. Cheering them on and devastated when set backs occur. I loved the glimpses we get of what is happening in the extended families lives, the ones that we have come to love over the years. Invested interests, I would say. I can't wait to continue on with this series. Sweet, Captivating Romance you will fall in love with!
I always enjoy returning to Three Rivers and picking back up with the lives and stories of “friends” that I’ve met before. The latest book by Liz Isaacson to take place there doesn’t disappoint!! Edith and Finn’s story is sweet and exciting! Seeing each other and reconnecting after 10 years living apart, finding out what they and their families have each been through and dealing with what’s going on in all their lives at the moment…. Phew!! It’s a lot happening on every page. I especially enjoyed the game that Finn reminds Edith about - “Could be better/Could be worse”. A good message about looking at life in the moment with all its up and downs, twists and turns; and assessing as well as appreciating God’s hand in our lives. If you’ve never visited Three Rivers, now is the time to come on down!
This was a great story of the next generation in Three Rivers. Finn returns after 10 years in the army and is floundering and wondering what God has for his life now. When he runs into Edith, his high school sweetheart, he is smitten all over again. She is fighting to recover from a terrible heartbreak and has trouble believing she is worthy of love. As they navigate their relationship with encouragement from family, they find their way to their happily ever after. I loved seeing so many of the other families in Three Rivers and the next generation of the Glovers and Walkers. It was especially enjoyable to read Finn's story since I had just reread Second Chance Ranch where he first met his stepdad Squire.
Oh wow this was such a good faith filled romance!! Finn and Edith are so cute! I absolutely adored how Edith kept calling Finn different pet names and some of them had me laughing! I love most of all is how they prayed about everything! I also loved how Finn was there for Edith while she was grieving and wasn’t sure if she could love someone else. And that ending I had tears in my eyes! I’m def gonna continue on with the series cause I can’t wait for Link and Misty’s story and loved the little chapters we got with them throughout the book. I would recommend this if you have been wanting to read a cowboy romance like Elsie Silvers but want a clean faith filled cowboy romance this one will not disappoint!!
I read that this is the first book in this 2nd generation series, but it’s SO connected to the original series, for sure! I say this because in the first 22 pages, I lost count of how many characters were introduced, named and referred to. Too many, too fast! Almost put the book down at this point. But I stuck with it.
Even so, several times a new chapter began with a whole new set of characters. They eventually got tied in somehow. However I’m still confused at who some are. Edith and Finn’s story was sweet and good and charming, but it took a lot of effort to get there.
Maybe if I had started at the beginning. But aren’t there 37 books before this one? Time will tell if I want to jump in that deep! Ha
I kept putting off reading this book because I knew once I started reading it I wouldn’t be able to put it down. I started it Saturday morning around noon and read the entire book till 1:00 am this morning. As usual this author sucked me into the life in Three Rivers and I was caught up in all the families once again. It was so familiar that I felt like I came home again. Finn and Edith’s story was so heartwarming, I laughed and cried a few times. Sometimes the past holds us back from the future meant for us. That is why we need to live one day at a time. I highly recommend this book and all the books Liz Isaacson writes.
This was my first book read by the author, and I enjoyed it very much. It had handsome cowboys, plenty of faith elements, and a happy ending. All of my favorite things! With that said, a variety of side characters from other series were introduced, which made me feel lost a handful of times. I don’t know how well this novel works as a stand-alone, but it does make me interested in reading more of her work to play catch up. The writing was that good.
If you dig these western cowboy romances (Christian), then definitely give this author a try.
A huge thanks to the author for the free copy. These thoughts are entirely my own.
This was a great feel-good, Christian cowboy romance. There was lots of family and wonderful down home faith mixed in with the romance and family love.
I really felt for Edith and the grief she was experiencing. Along with that grief is the guilt of moving on. Finn was the one she wanted to move on with and he was a wonderfully patient and loving man. He was willing to give her all the time she needed, even if it was breaking his heart to do so. He was also struggling to find his place in the world after his military career had ended.
A very heartwarming story!
Thanks to the author for the ebook. All thoughts are my own.
Amazing Book Finn has been away for 10 long years. When he comes home he isn’t sure what he wants to do with his life. First day home and he reunites with Edith, his high school girlfriend. As also Liz hits is out of the ball park with this book. I love how she brings back old characters from other books and book series. I feel like these characters are family and I love reading about the next generation. I received an ARC book for my honest review. I highly recommend this book and all of her books.
Finn and Edith have a wonderful story! You can’t help but root for the veteran who served his country loyally and comes home to try to find his place in civilian life. Edith has a difficult past and is struggling to believe that she’s lovable. Their story unfolds beautifully!
I specifically enjoyed the Could Be Better/Could Be Worse games and how the families intertwined and overlapped. Having already read the stories of the parents, I’ve really looked forward to this story following the second generation. Liz is truly a master storyteller!
