To the talented vocalist Justin Jones, love is merely a game that he plays by his own rules. But to Bridget Dubois, love and heartache are one and the same. Broken too many times before, the delicate beauty keeps her emotions carefully concealed. Bridget has her own set of rigid rules when it comes to men. She prefers to avoid them altogether, especially dangerously seductive auburn haired emerald eyed players like Justin.
But the new lead singer of the rising rock band Tempest doesn't like to be ignored. Justin is used to getting what he wants, and now he’s set his sights on Bridget. Suddenly, it’s no longer a game.
What do you do when the one you can’t have turns out to be the one you can’t live without? As the pressure builds, will it temper them or will it shatter them both like fragile crystal?

Enticing Interlude is Justin's story, as he takes over as lead vocalist in Tempest after War leaves the band behind in a fit. At first, it's hard for Justin to find his place, especially because Bryan is weary of him and the connection he has to Lace. When Lace's friend from rehab, Bridget, arrives with her young son, however, Justin is completely taken with both of them. And he finally understands that having one-night-stands with groupies will never make him happy. Bridget has been burned so badly in the past that she doesn't want any man in her life apart from her son. Coming to Vancouver to stay with Lace, she just wants to lick her wounds and get herself back on her feet again.
Mankin brings us back into her Rock and Roll world with another fabulous read. ENTICING INTERLUDE wasn't quite as heavy and raw as IRRISITIBLE REFRAIN was but it still rocked my world. I loved the more laid back pace of this one and thought the romance that erupted from it was perfection. I am so in love with these characters and how they fell in love with each other. It was a journey, one I will remember for a long time.
Like always, we still get to see scenes with all of our old favorites like Avery and Marcus. But we are going into a new territory for the band Tempest. They are having to find a replacement singer since War left and signed on with someone new. This is not going to be an easy adjustment on anyone’s part. Tempers will flair and it may very well get the best of some. But it is something that each one of them will have to work through. Especially Justin and Bryan.
Bridget was a wonderful character and her love for her child knew no bounds. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for her kid. Even if that meant leading the life of nun, so to speak. But from the first time Justin saw her he knew he had to know her. And so what if she has a kid, that is was just an added bonus in his eyes. Because Carter is an amazing kid who Bridget raised right. So, in my eyes, that makes Justin ten times more adorable. I love the fact that he loved Bridget and her child. Not many guys out there like the ready-made family. But Justin didn’t let that stop him from knowing all he could about Bridget and making her his. *Swoon*
If you are full fledged groupie of Tempest, then you are most definitely going to want to read this one. I gave it 5 Rockin Stars and cannot wait for more to come!
After reading Irresistible Refrain and the Black Cat Records series, I was excited to dive into the world of Tempest again and to get Justin's story. Enticing Interlude is very well-written, as I've come to expect from Michelle Mankin. The characters are likable and I enjoyed the story. But it lacked the 'grab you by the throat' element that Irresistible Refrain had. I felt like we missed out on something in this whirlwind courtship - it all moved a little too fast for me. I loved the story though. Seeing Justin grow up and seeing Bridget finally gain a bit of confidence and let the past go, was emotional and heartwarming.
Justin Jones, twin brother to Avery who is the lead guitarist for Brutal Strength, is still trying to find his way following a bad relationship gone wrong and a stint in drug rehab. He's a talented musician, though. Mary Timmons, CEO of Black Cat Records, decides to take a chance on him and offers him the lead singer position of Tempest. Although Justin knows he'll have big shoes to fill since Warren Jinkins left, he's nonetheless stoked at the chance.
Bridget Dubois has come to Vancouver with her 5 year old son, Carter, in tow, because she had to run from her old life in order to start anew. After losing her Meemaw, the only loving family she had left, she couldn't take dealing with her evil step-mother or the asshat father of her son. She'd met Lace Lowell in rehab and it's to Lace Bridget turns to for help. I really liked Bridget. She's kind and courageous, yet guarded, which is to be expected. She's making the best life possible for herself and Carter, despite being a young mom. I admired her desire to be a good mom and make something of herself.
When Justin and Bridget first meet, there's an immediate attraction. But Bridget doesn't date - has closed herself off from men PERIOD - since her relationship with hateful Richard left her alone and pregnant at 15. Justin has been known as a player and it's going to take a lot of work to break down Bridget's walls. But Justin is also extremely loyal and caring, and Bridget and Carter bring out the protectiveness in him.
As I said, I enjoyed seeing Justin grow into the wonderful young man he's meant to be. And I delighted in how Justin affected Bridget - helped her to blossom - to shrug off the insecurities she's carried for so long. But I would have liked for more backstory on Bridget. We were told about her horrible step-mom and the abuse she suffered at her hands and Carter's dad, but more details would have helped me connect with her better. Likewise, I felt that we didn't get to witness enough of Justin and Bridget together initially to warrant their intense feelings. Because of the dual POV format, I knew how Justin felt - and I know his history; I know the kind of man he could be. I didn't feel like I got enough of Bridget's history to really understand her on that deeper level. Also, with Avery and Marcus' presence, as well as Lace and Bryan's, the other Tempest players, and Avery and Justin's dad's health deteriorating, there was quite a bit going on. Maybe that's why Justin and Bridget's story wasn't as robust as I'd have liked.
Still, I really enjoyed Enticing Interlude. I fell in love with Carter and adored watching him charm everyone. And I was thrilled with the maturity both Justin and Bridget exhibited. And I cannot wait for Captivating Bridge, the next book in the series. It's War's story and promises to be an intense read!
This is the first book I have read by Michelle Mankin, and although Enticing Interlude is the second book in the Tempest series and the fifth in the Black Cat Records series, I felt that it was easy to get into this world. I love to read about rock groups and I enjoyed listening to Justin and Bridget’s story.
Bridget had nowhere to go after the death of her grandmother, so she and her son, Carter, moved in with her friend Lace. I discovered how hard things had been for Bridget growing up, what she had been through and what she lost. She trusted someone, only for them to shatter her and she would do anything to protect Carter. She battled an addiction and was able to find her way again. Not long after she moved in with Lace she met Justin and soon he turned her world upsidedown.
Justin wasn’t looking for commitment, but he was quickly drawn to Bridget, wanting to know her and protect her. He has been offered the job of a lifetime, being the front man for Tempest. He let Bridget in to his world and I could see his love for her grow. I also learned the glossed over details of the history between Justin, his sister, their father and the circumstances that occurred throughout Avery’s books.
I enjoyed most of the book, seeing Bridget transform from a shy, quiet girl who took on a woman who despised her. I loved this new side to her, but I was disappointed that she retreated into her shell at a certain stage. She had come such a long way only to doubt the one person who loves her. Other than that, I liked most of the characters and liked seeing relationships strengthen.
Now, the narration is probably what threw me off for this one. Kai Kennicott was great! I loved how well he narrated, Wen Ross was a little quiet and muffled at times and I found her hard to follow. What was different about this narration, was that through Justin’s chapter’s Wenn would narrate all the female parts and vice versa for Bridget’s chapters. But it was the extra sound effects thrown in… the giggling and other sounds… that threw me off.
I thought that this was a good read though, and I enjoyed the way the story unfolded. Justin and Bridget were easy characters to like and both had been through their own personal hells but overcome them to be better people. They had a good support around them and love those close to them fiercely. I would love to read more in this series, and hope to go back to the beginning and see where it all started.
I liked this book much more than the previous. I was able to fall right into the story and ride along with Justin and Bridget. When she was introduced in during Lace's rehab days, she was way more bubbly than in this book. She almost seemed like a different person, it I liked her nonetheless.
Carter was an adorable little man. He was much more mature than kids his age but he was a great addition to the characters.
Justin was just as sweet and charismatic as he was in the first book. Though I only got a glimpse of him, he was still the cute and sexy musician Lace met in Vancouver.
Together Justin and Bridget matured and grew along with their feelings for each other. Bridget and Carter were the driving force for Justin to want a serious relationship and he wasn't willing to let Bridget get away, despite her fears from her past relationship experience.
07/03/2019 - I'm surprised that I really disliked what little I read of this one. The first one wasn't bad, but I have had to abandon ship with this one.
The main problem by far is I can't stand Justin. He and I got off on the wrong foot from the very first scene, in which he treated the groupie like trash as if it hadn't taken two to tango the night before. He acted like a totally arrogant prick.
Then the scene at the pool was the last straw, with him
Enticing Interlude is a great story that had me on the edge of my seat. Michelle Mankin has done it again and lord let me tell you that Irresistible Refrain had me by the boot straps and Michelle just did it again with Enticing Interlude. The band is still reeling from the loss of War who signed on to another group because well you will have to read IR to find out because I will not ruin for the reader but just let me say wow oh wow when you get to read the reason why you will be blown away.
So now we have my lovely gorgeous Justin Jones who is the new lead singer in the band Tempest and bad boy is not even a word to describe him. He is something in his own league and I love him because when Justin sees something he wants he goes for it and gets it but that theory is put to the test when he meets Bridget. Lord Bridget is like a breath of fresh air to him and he knows he needs her and he wants her and he will stop at nothing to have her but Bridget is not easily fooled by men and she sure as hell knows to stay away from Justin.
See Bridget has someone she has to take care of and no matter what she will always have to care for this person. Once Justin finds out who she has to care for he let's Bridget know that he wants in no matter what and together they can take care of that person and have a life together.
Will Bridget let go of her heart and give it to Justin or will she hold her walls in place??????????
Awww. I love it, in t his book we bring together Bryan and Lace with her new friend she met in rehab. A sweet young mother and of course with War quitting the band they bring in Justin Jones who is the new lead man for Tempest who falls in love with Bridget and her son Carter from the moment he saw her. Breaking through her walls and into her heart has become his goal. This is such a beautiful concept that every girl who is afraid to open her heart dreams of. James is sweet, patient and kind. Bridget has been though a lot and is afraid to let him close. You will enjoy the struggle, the way they open up to each other and learn to let go of the past and move forward. I adore these two people and little Carter. A beautiful must read, and adds to the ongoing story. I hope there is more to come. A definite solid 4.5 stars.
Justin Jones is the new frontman for Tempest and when he meets Lace's friend and her son, Carter, he is smitten. Bridget has moved to Vancouver to get a fresh start to her life and is hesitant to get involved with him. Carter has other plans. He likes Justin and in his sweet little 5 year old way, he wriggles into Justin's heart as well. Justin just has to convince Bridget that she can make a life with him! Then a mean, vindictive ex convinces Bridget that he has been cheating with her....

Someone cleared their throat behind me. I swiveled around in my chair. Bryan, Dizzy, King and Sager. The four remaining members of Tempest stood in the open doorway. Faded jeans. Lots of leather. Copious tats. Abundant attitude. They looked exactly like the rough rockers they were reputed to be. I had to admit I really liked the idea of being a part of that.
Well.... I think I need to take a little trip to Vancouver and tour Black Cat Records cause seriously-with that much hotness roaming around the building it's a wonder any female who enters it doesn't spontaneously combust. This series rocks my world and I will admit to a little girl-crushing on Michelle Mankin, anyone who can dream up that kind of sexiness and drama is my kind of lady ;)
We had a long way to go before we were a cohesive unit. Bryan was obviously the crux of the problem. He'd become the de facto leader of the group after War left, and that was ok, except that the toxic vibe leeching off him was poisoning everything and everyone else around him. Not much I did seemed to meet with his approval. I was going to have to do something about that. I just hadn't figured out what yet.
Justin Jones has just landed the gig of a lifetime as new lead singer of the up and coming rock band Tempest, but things aren't exactly off to a smooth start. He has big shoes to fill as War's replacement and the guys are less than welcoming. Despite the way War left an all that transpired between them, the guys had all been so close for so long that Justin's presence is just a constant reminder of War's absence. Luckily for Justin, he has his pretty, new friend Lace (who is still suffering from her own guilt) as a sort of buffer but they are gonna have to figure out a way to make it work.
His ringing laughter was like a life preserver that I willingly grabbed to pull myself out of my morose musings. I managed a smile for him. He was my bright light. I would do anything for him.
Bridget DuBois is a newcomer to Vancouver. After recently losing her grandmother, she has nowhere to go so the single mother moves in with her one and only friend Lace til she gets back on her feet. Bridget has suffered a lot of pain and loss in her young life, betrayed and abandoned by those closest to her, she learns at a very young age that men simply cannot be trusted. Love and devastation go hand in hand, so she chooses to just avoid it all together. Her five-year old son, Carter, is her life so she just focuses on that. Til she meets Lace's friend and neighbor, lead singer of Tempest, Justin Jones.
Justin Jones was one of the most handsome men I'd ever seen. Rip your heart out and teach you a lesson you'll never forget kind of handsome.
Sure he's gorgeous and has a history of being a narcissistic bad boy on the prowl in the past, but I think he would leave all that behind for the right woman. Justin hasn't had a whole lotta luck when it comes to women in the past, so now he just floats through one-night stands with no commitments and he's okay with that. He doesn't think finding that one special woman is in the cards for him, til he meets Bridget. Something about her grabs his attention and won't let go. She's beautiful-though she tries to hide it, the bond she shares with her son Carter is breathtaking, she's strong and independent, caring, generous and selfless to those closest to her-though he can see in her eyes how much she's been hurt before and how very guarded she is. Unfortunately, she tells him in no uncertain terms that it's not going to happen. Unaccustomed to being turned down, her rejection only makes him more determined. He knows he has to tread carefully with her, but he also know he will do whatever he has to do to make her his.
Fine, run away for now, I thought, my eyes watching appreciatively as her hips swayed gracefully in her oversized jeans, but the game was on. I'd have her... eventually.
The sneaky bastard was using my son to get me to go out with him. Suddenly what I could and wouldn't allow started to be less defined, and it didn't take psychic ability to know that spelled trouble for me.
I loved getting back into the lives of the TMT. While the first book was a lot more on the gritty side, this one leaned more to the sweet side. Don't take that to mean there wasn't an abundance of angst and drama, there was, it just wasn't as rough and tumble as the first one. But let me tell you-that epilogue?! We went from-awww, how friggin romantic!! to heart-clenching, gut-wrenching tension in two seconds flat. I was screaming as I was doing a disturbing little happy dance in my seat at the same time when I realized my hopes at the end of book 1 were about to be fulfilled....in the next book GAH!! But I can be patient, kinda, it will be worth it in the end. LOVE this series, LOVE this author, READY for more!!
“Everything changed when you blazed unexpectedly into my life, showing me a brand of love so generous, so beyond my imagination or hope. The fact that you don't even realize how special you are only adds to your allure. It may be too soon for you, but I'm standing right here, right now ready to offer you my heart. I can only pray that one day you'll take me up on the offer. But honestly, even if you never do, I'm already yours.”
“I wasn't prepared for someone like you, Justin. Someone patient and understanding who could help me find faith in myself again. Who could help me become the person that I've always wanted to be. The person that I was, before all the poison in my life put me in a dreamless sleep.”

Rated:⭐⭐⭐⭐4/5 Heat:🔥🔥🔥 3/5 Angst: 🖤🖤🖤3/5 Justin knows he can have anything that he wants, knows his looks and appeal draw in the women and the one woman his wants doesn't want him like he expected her to. Bridget is a single mother doing everything in her power to protect and provide for her son. She has her skeletons rattling around in the closet, overcoming addiction is hard to recover from and even harder to stay away from. These two have instant an connection and want to run from deeper feelings. Watching them grow, not only as a relationship, but as characters is what made the story. I liked reading Justin and Bridget's story, it just wasn't as intense as some of the others in this series.
Totally enjoyed this book - set in Vancouver, BC, Canada - I knew exactly where they were, that was fun (seeing as I live here).
The new lead singer for Tempest, is knocked on his read when he meets fellow rehab inmate of Lace's. She is beautiful and real, he is immediately drawn to her, but she isn't looking for a man, romance, dating , relationships, she just wants to get her life in order and look after her son.
We go through this story, with Justin practicing and earning the right to front Tempest, and breaking down Bridget "Gigi's" walls.
Thrown for another loop - an old girlfriend enters the picture, an of course that brings trouble; then War comes back too, just what the band doesn't need.
Omg I really can't believe there's Another Heart Wrenching Past Lie. Here we meet Bridget Dubious again whom we in the Rehab with Lace & Justin Jones whom we met when Lace Lowell started to sign up with Black Cats Records. Justin gets in away with blackmail by BCR's by CEO MARY Timmins, when SHE tells him that he will be joining Tempest their Lead Singer taking over War. But its when Bridget needs to get away from LA after the death of her one & only Her & Her 5 Yr old son Carter Protector MeeMaw her Grandmother. It's as heartbreaking as ALL THE Other Black Cats Records Men & Women that I've read by Michele Mankin. BRILLIANT 💞💔💖
I loved listening to this story. Kai and Wen were awesome especially with Carter. I loved hearing about an amazingly strong single mother and her awesomely sweet little boy. Then you add in a wonderfully sweet man and how he wants to be the best father figure ever and I fell in love. Everything about this story was so sweet and touching I was nearly a puddle of goo at how awesomely it was written. Being a mom myself and hearing about how amazing and great someone is with a kid when they don't have to step up into that place just makes my heart met and completely fall for them.
Great story. I enjoyed it. At first, it felt out of place at this point in the series but it pulls everything together nicely by the end.
Tempest is on a tumultuous path and their future is uncertain. Justin is struggling to be accepted into the band that is more of a tight knit family with deep history.
Bridget is a friend Lace met in rehab. Her life is turned upside down and she desperately needs help and has no one else to turn to. Lace steps up to help her and her young son.
Lots of harsh life lived by these characters. They all have deep scars that they need to overcome to find happiness, to find themselves.
Another well written story dealing with some heavy reality but in a way that ends positively. Great read.
Loved Justin and Bridget! Justin is the appointed new front man of Tempest and Bridget is a friend that Lace met in book 2 of the series. Justin’s trying to prove himself worthy of his position with the band; these men are tough guys to break into. Bridget comes with a history including a 5 year old son. She’s damaged and is very stand-offish with men, but Justin’s not having it. Great rockstar love story with a hea.
Bridget and Justin have a world of drama that is set to implode with any number of factors. The feels are deep and emotional and make your heart ache in the most brutal but delicious way. There is some band drama, but mostly you get to witness the carving and destruction that can be so debilitating, but so sweet when the right person steps up and helps conquer the demons.
Enticing Interlude was another great read by Michelle Mankin. This is book two in the Tempest Series. Justin is a talented singer who finds himself auditioning for the band Tempest. Bridget lives by a rigid set of rules that she must have because of her son. I loved Justin and Bridget's series and can't wait to read more of this series.
Damn I loved this story! Justin was rockstar perfection and gorgeous. Gigi and Carter were adorable and I loved the chemistry with Justin. This story was sweet and so romantic I couldn’t put it down. I love that War is still part of Tempest lives and there seems to be a cliffhanger where he’s concerned. I can’t wait to read the next book, Dizzy sounds hot. I recommend this book highly.
Justin is an interesting character. Sorely lacking in judgment in earlier books. But he sees “the one” and immediately flies straight. I liked seeing all of the Tempest guys in this one. Sorry they gave Justin such a hard time. War, the arrogant ass, makes an appearance. I’m not sure what to make of Bridget.
I really enjoyed this book. Bridget really had a very hard life and has trouble letting good people in but Justin was not going to give up akd he did not he kept his word. This book was amazing I can't wait to see what is next for them.
See? This is why I always give an author two or three tries before I throw up my hands and walk away. I am glad I stayed with this author. I enjoyed this story. Cried my eyes out and the Clift hanger make me feel things for a character I wished would get hit by a bus. On to the next book.
This series has been wonderful so far! Normally I hate when a series switches to other characters, but this was done in a way that the originally characters are still tightly intertwined in the story. I loved it!
