Henry Francis Nachtrieb was a professor of zoology and animal biology at the University of Minnesota, and was an organizer and president of the University of Minnesota General Alumni Association.
Nachtrieb earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota in 1882. He attended Johns Hopkins University graduate school from 1883-1885. In 1885, he returned to the University of Minnesota as an instructor in biology; in 1886 he became an assistant professor and in 1887 became professor and department head of the animal biology department, a position he held until his retirement in 1925. At the time of his retirement he was awarded the title of Professor Emeritus of Animal Biology.
