This is a reminder to myself why I will NEVER read this book.

I am SICK and tired of this sexism in books lately. Why is it always the heroine that has to suffer in silence?? How can you expect me to believe that the heroine is the love of the hero’s life when he not only divorces her after they deliver a still born baby, but proceeds to not only move on in the dating sense but the SERIOUS RELATIONSHIP sense. You know when you love a woman enough to not only THINK about proposing, but then flying home to make sure you had your family ring to do so. Yes, I know the heroine asked for a divorce but look what she just went through? Yes, it was his loss too, but ultimately a woman has physical changes as well as hormonal changes during pregnancy and after. This is where your marriage vows come in - you know, in sickness and health? Sound familiar? How about till death do us part??? Also, the fact that the heroine proceeds to be celibate for 7 years?! Are you freaking kidding me? This is a joke of a storyline. I don’t care that I didn’t read it. I don’t need to read it to give this book 1 star. It doesn’t even deserve that.

I am so disturbed by this and in disbelief.

➳Can second chances make you even stronger than before? Mia Sheridan makes you believe that it is possible in this second chance novel that will have you wanting more of these two inseparable individuals...

➳Mia Sheridan never seems to stop making my emotions run all over the place when it comes down to the ideal way of writing an emotional romance novel that will have you swooning for more of what each character has to give. Dane and Audra were no exception to the mix of Mia's characters, since both characters have gone through the some painful situations as a previously married couple that no couples should go through. Being together for years and finding about each other through the most special of ways, has connected Audra and Dane to learn to love each other and open up to be the real people they are meant to be.

➳To many, Dane is just the rich boy who is off to follow the family business. Audra is the girl who has so much passion in her when it comes down to art and nature, coming from a family that in comparison to Dane's is below them when it comes down to the economic status. Two individuals who come from two different worlds but end up enjoying each other's company in the best of ways that no one else would be able to relate. The way that Mia expresses their love for each other is one that cannot be thoroughly explained, but be felt when reading this masterpiece of a novel.

➳Hardships are thrown their way, and after separating because of a terrible circumstance, they encounter upon an obstacle that is preventing Audra to continue with her future business. When contradicting with Dane about it, and him not knowing about it he tries to solve the issue at hand so he can make Audra happy. After years of being apart, the attraction they have towards each other has not diminished not one tiny bit, making it difficult for Audra to move on with her life. All Dane wants is to protect Audra in every way, maker her his again, and start a family of their own as they planned for years. Their hardships is what prevents them from moving forward but with time, and with the same passion and love they have towards each other their future obstacles can be destroyed.

➳Overall this is a romance that has gotten me weak in the knees for the love and passion Dane has towards Audra. There is no denying how magical they both are together, making them an ideal couple that Mia had written. I was going to listen to audio book when it first released a couple of months ago, but I am glad I decided to skip on it because the actual book itself is just way too magical to miss out on and not properly enjoy.

5 You and Me Stars!!

I loved it!! This to me is quintessential Mia Sheridan, yet so different from anything she has written before, and I have read them all.

This author can put me into a complete trance with her storytelling.

I went in totally blind, and will not give away any details of Dane and Audra’s second chance love story, other than the snippet below.

We’d gone to hell together once, and we’d walked out separately. In some ways it felt like we were in hell together, again, just a different sort.

This was an unputdownable read for me, and I was held riveted in place from start to finish!

description

Dane's Storm is a captivating and emotional second chance romance. I'm a huge fan of Mia Sheridan's, so as soon as I heard she had a new book out, I had to grab it. This story is currently an audio exclusive, which is fine by me. I LOVE my audio books! The narrators, Erin Mallon and Lance Greenfield do an amazing job voicing Audra and Dane.

Dane and Audra had an epic first love. The kind of first love most of us don't experience. The kind that you think will never end. Audra and Dane thought they'd always be together, that nothing could ever tear them apart. Some things, though, seem impossible to get through. Their marriage ended much too soon, but the love never did. Since their divorce, close to ten years ago, Audra has put her heart and soul in her business. Now a technicality from when they were married is threatening to take it from her. To save her livelihood, she's willing to see Dane to get things straightened out.

Though this couple has been apart for near a decade, the love between them is still there. And so is the chemistry! When things start to fall apart again, in a big way, these two will prove that maybe this time they can lean on each other and work together like they never did before. Maybe this time, they can survive together.

Audra and Dane's story is written in dual POV and goes back and forth, from past to present. I feel like with a story like this, it is so important that we got both of the characters POV. I loved both Audra and Dane. I didn't blame either of them for things falling apart their first time around. Loss can make people do crazy things and coping with such difficult things when your young can seem impossible. I was sad to see what had occurred in their past, but so happy these two found their way back to each other. So rarely do people truly get a second chance at their first love.

If you're looking for a beautiful, emotional, and sizzling story of love, loss, and second chances, be sure to pick up Dane's Storm

*****4.5 STARS*****
{Audiobook Generously Provided by Publisher}

I was lucky enough to be offered an arc of this audiobook. I’ve been a HUGE fan of Mia Sheridan’s and her Sign Of Love series since I started reading them back in 2013. Most of these stories have been second chance romances and almost always the couple has had to face almost insurmountable odds and that was very much the case for Dane and Audra in ”DANE’S STORM”. I’m not really big on audiobooks but I had a long road trip last weekend and this book did end up making my drive enjoyable. The story is told in alternating POVs that transition from past to present seamlessly. I thought both narrators, Erin Mallon and Lance Greenfield did a terrific job. I’m a very picky reader and the reason I normally don’t like audiobooks is that I am always afraid the voices will irritate me and ruin my reading experience, but these two narrators were perfect!

Dane and Audra met and fell in love right before they were about to start college. Dane comes from a very well known and wealthy family while Audra’s family is nearly impoverished. From the moment Audra saw Dane sitting on a bench outside the window of her art class, she was mesmerized and never thought for one second that someone like Dane could ever spare her a passing glance, but they end up falling fast and hard. They feel a strong pull towards one another and soon enough an incredible passion ignites and Audra winds up pregnant. Their first year together is stressful and tumultuous having to deal with an unexpected pregnancy, lifelong dreams that have to be put aside and Dane’s evil grandmother who disapproves of Audra and makes her feelings known whenever she can. When tragedy strikes the young couple, they’re both overwhelmed with grief and instead of leaning on each other for support, they try to deal with it in their own way and the lines of communication are completely shut down between them. Their marriage ends in divorce.

Now we are thrust into the present, which is almost ten years later and Audra is trying to launch her business which she has been saving every penny she has to make it a success. She owns a building that Dane gifted to her while they were married and she plans to run her floral shop while renting out the other spaces in the building to wedding-themed businesses. She’s so close to launching when she gets a notice from Dane’s grandmother’s attorney that she has 30 days to vacate the premises. Apparently, she signed a prenuptial agreement and has no legal claim to the building.

Audra has no choice but to seek Dane out. She hasn’t seen him in nearly ten years and it’s the last thing she wants because the pain from their past still haunts her to this day. All those years ago Audra thought she was doing Dane a favor by letting him go. She believed that she was holding him back from a life that he desired but that was so far from the truth. When she flies out to San Francisco to meet with Dane, it’s evident almost instantly that the connection between them is still very strong. He promises to help sort everything out with his grandmother.

They head back to Colorado on his private plane and soon the couple is facing the most precarious situation of their lives that force them to rely on each other for survival. Once their defenses are forced to the wayside in order to survive, will they be able to let go of the past and fight for the future they were always destined to have together?

Here are my overall ratings:

Heroes: 5
Heroine: 4
Plot: 5
Angst: 4.5
Steam: 5
Chemistry Between Heros & Heroine: 5

I loved this book!!! It’s a story about second chances, love, loss, and survival! It started off a tad bit slow for me, but once it picked up I was fully absorbed into Dane and Audra’s world. They had so much to work through regarding such a devastating loss for them, and the emotional baggage they carried inside was heartbreaking... especially Audra, she was an emotional wreck! I will say this though, when it came time for her to step up and be strong; she was an amazing heroine!! So very strong and I was very impressed by her. Dane was too, and his determination to protect Audra and survive was amazing!

This book is a must read! I highly recommend it. The emotions I felt for this couple were enormous and I won’t ever forget what they went through while rekindling the love they had always felt for each other. I have been finding it hard to come across books lately that make me feel passionate about them... I am pleased to say this one definitely did the trick, and it will be one of my best reads for 2018!

3.5 stars.

A well written, painful, complicated but gripping love story about a second chance romance that almost didn't happen. I wasn't sure I should read this novel because reviews have been so erratic - either full of scathing commentary or fan girl fawning. I'm neither a hater nor a fan girl ( of any author ! ). But, I've enjoyed some of this author's books in the past and I decided to read this and make up my own mind.

The author touches on complex issues like:

Teenage marriage;

Unplanned pregnancy;

A stillborn baby;

A grieving teenaged heroine who might also be suffering from post partum depression;

A 21 yr old H who has to cope with the loss of his first born son while dealing simultaneously with his depressed wife who is pushing him away, and, also having to go to college part time and learn all about his family's business empire.

I don't know how many 21 yr old guys are able to handle all this stuff and attend college at the same time. The young couple were in a difficult, painful point in their marriage. The heroine Audra kept pushing Dane away because she was grieving for her dead child and he wasn't able to get through to her. Eventually, she demanded a divorce and he had no choice ( even though he begged her to not go through with it ) but to accede to her desires. An individual is powerless when his/spouse demands a divorce. It's all well and good to think that he's the grand H so he should've prevented the divorce and bridged the growing gap between him and his wife. But the fact is that when a person pushes you away, there is nothing you can do to stop it. I speak from experience: when my dad died a few years ago, I had a total meltdown because I'm an only child and he was my world ( even though I had a husband ). I was 26 but felt like a little lost kid. My grieving moodiness went on for almost a year, during which time I totally distanced myself from my other relatives. Those relatives are actually wonderful people but the sad, resentful, angry and childish jealous part of me couldn't handle seeing other persons enjoy their happy family when my dad was dead. My relatives tried hard to get me to see them or talk on the 'phone but I wasn't budging. It took a while before I could be my old self again. I loved them but I just was not in the frame of mind to accept anybody's comfort.

That's why I empathize with the H and don't blame him for the breakdown in his marriage. I don't think there was anything he could've done to stop Audra from pushing him away. The heroine herself kinda admitted to that. Her grief, anger, resentment and apathy had begun to consume her. And, she also refused to discuss the way his nasty grandmother had been treating her. Maybe a therapist would've helped. Who knows ? It didn't work for me because my shrink annoyed the F out of me with his condescending prattle. I soon got tired of him and the damned Valdoxan medication too. The point I'm making is that in this novel, I didn't see any MC as the "bad guy". Both Dane and Audra were in a horrible situation and sometimes love just isn't enough to help salvage a marriage. They had even been faithful to each other , during their marriage, and Dane hadn't been a manwhore before he'd married Audra. He didn't even become a manwhore after the divorce.

He did get into a relationship with an OW called Winnie, but he was never engaged to her. He wasn't in love with Winnie; it appeared as if he had just been trying to move on with his life. Of course I wish that he hadn't but in real life people do try to move on because what are the options ? To wait for an ex-wife who'd demanded a divorce and wanted nothing to do with him ? That would've been ideal from a romantic perspective but life doesn't work that way. Many of us have relatives and friends who have gotten divorced and most of us will admit that what we wish most is for them to move on and find someone new to love. Dane attempted to move on with Winnie but his heart wasn't in it. Chapter 24 is the most important in the novel, in my opinion, because it clarifies all the issues pertaining to his relationship with the OW:

“She wasn’t my fiancée. I never asked her to marry me. Do you want to know why?”

Mia Sheridan. Dane's Storm (Kindle Location 2748). Kindle Edition.

“I flew to Laurelton with the intention to ask my grandmother for her ring. But I was having doubts, reservations, and inside, I knew my heart wasn’t in it. I was only considering the possibility of marrying Winnie because it seemed like she expected it.”

She tried to pick up her pace, her face rigid with panic. I didn’t care. She was going to hear this.

“All I could think about was you. Fuck, Audra. I was considering asking a woman to spend her life with me, and the only woman I could think about was the one who’d let me go.”

Audra stumbled and I reached out, steadying her by gripping her forearm. “And so I went to see you.”

She halted, her head turning as her eyes widened. “You what? When?”

I stopped in front of her. “I only wanted to see you in person—just to see you. I didn’t want you to know I was there. I just . . .” I looked off into the distance, pursing my lips. “I don’t know, I just needed to see you. To lay eyes on you after all those years.” I sighed, meeting her stricken gaze again. “You came out of your building, and you were with a young, blond guy. You were laughing, and I watched as he walked you to your car and you got in and drove away.”

Mia Sheridan. Dane's Storm (Kindle Locations 2751-2761). Kindle Edition.

This novel is heart-wrenching because I wanted to kick both MC's during the flashback scenes when I saw how they were heading for disaster and eventual divorce. I also wanted to hug them because I felt their pain and I almost cried during certain scenes. The author's narrative style captured their emotional suffering so poignantly.

This is how I imagined the H, Dane:

This is how I imagined the heroine, Audra:

The parts of the story where the MC's are in the mountains struggling to survive after the plane crash were very difficult to enjoy, because I'm not a fan of the survivalist trope, except if it's a horror or thriller novel. I also hated the part where they were attacked by wolves and a couple of the animals died. Yes, I am an animal lover so I always wince a lot during such scenes, even when the animals are attacking and dangerous. Dane and Audra suffered a lot in those mountains after that plane crash ! But, the MC's physical suffering did break the invisible walls that they'd installed between them. In fact, it was the heroine who took a longer time to open up about what she'd experienced after the stillbirth of their son. What lifted this story for me, personally, was the was the H's almost superhuman effort to save Audra's life. The man was struggling with a festering leg injury, and the onset of septicemia, yet he still forced himself to use his very last bit of energy to drag her to safety. I believed he truly loved her and she was the love of his life. His relationship with Winnie had been a lacklustre attempt to move on and he admitted that.

Safety: There is no cheating, in my opinion because they'd been faithful while they were married. The H was never a manwhore but he did get involved with another woman after the divorce so he wasn't celibate during this time. He also never proposed to the OW or gave her any ring. His lack of celibacy didn't bother me because I think people are entitled to try and move on after a legal divorce. I certainly will not be living in celibate Hopeland if if ever get divorced, because I'm young and think my life is worth more than waiting like a faithful Penelope for my ex husband. The heroine, on the other hand, was celibate and couldn't move on. It seemed as if she was still plagued by the death of her baby and the remnants of guilt she felt for pushing Dane away and asking for a divorce.

what kind of a husband are you if you unhesitatingly grant your wife’s request for a divorce during one of the most devastating moments in both of your lives ??? so much, for marriage vows. 🤦‍♀️

how much of an idiot do you have to be if it takes surviving a plane crash and getting stranded in the middle of snowy mountain wilderness to realise the biggest mistake you’ve made in your life???

not throwing any shade towards the characters in particular, cuz i believe that idiot could be any one of us. sometimes it takes extreme circumstances for us to reflect on ourselves and learn. but oh, so much for second chances. 😭

If she was celibate then he should have stayed celibate too. Why is it ok for a man to move on because his wife pushed him away and asked for a divorce but for the woman is too difficult? Why the double standards?
I don’t care if they’re divorced. If he’s going to move on then have the heroine moving on too.

Fuck this shit. I’m tired of this double standards shit.
Sad thing is many women readers find double standards very acceptable.

Despite the cold terrain as a background of this book, I feel lukewarm. I was expecting dramatic romance adventure with a setback of survival in cold terrain. Sadly the story is lukewarm not sizzling hot. What a pity since I always love Mia Sheridan. Archer's Voice and Grayson's Vow are my favorite.

The portrayal of loss somewhat shallow. I can not really connect with the characters.

It remains me a bit of The mountain Between Us.

Overall the story is OK.

Sexist author. Avoid.

H fucks ow, and moves on. Gets into a serious relationship and was considering proposing to her with his family ring.
The h remained celibate for 7 years. 🙄This is not a historical romance!
No strong female pines for an asshole for 7 fucking years!

I totally understand that they were too young for marriage- he was only 21, and if they had both moved on, i mightve read this, because it’s life and what happened to this couple is understandable.

But I hate sexist, double standard shit like this in romance novels!,
Why must the h always be celibate while the H goes off to have a normal life? Why must heroines always act like it’s the Middle Ages?

Look at all these rave reviewers defending the H for moving on, but never once mentioning how unreal and unnatural it was for the young h to remain completely frozen. 🙄

Opinion Breakdown
The Good: The premise. The angst. The characters. The H!

The Not-So-Good: I felt like there could've been a little more of their past. As mentioned below, I do think that Ms. Sheridan did the flashbacks well and didn't overload the whole story with them. I just like that on page development of feelings and since this is a second chance, we don't really get that since they're already/still in love even when reunited.

The Bad: The ending is my biggest gripe. While I enjoyed the epilogue and their HEA, I needed much more actual closure! See below closure section for more ranty comments...

Overall: I think I put this one off because they were already married before and the books I've read with this type of dynamic simply hasn't worked for me in the past. I typically enjoy the books where we get to see the mcs meeting and then progressing into their deeper feelings more. I'm shaking myself for that now! It is Mia Sheridan, so I should have known to trust her with it. I enjoyed this one. Now, is it up to par with some on my favorites shelf like Archer's Voice, Stinger, or Kyland? Not quite. But I still liked it!

*I'd love any recommendations for married but in trouble or second chance after divorce type books to further prove me wrong!*

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Audra and Dane's story. They fell in love hard and married young only to end in a tragic divorce. ~7 years later, Audra finds out the building Dane gifted her as a wedding gift is going to be taken away from her and she has to see him again to try to stop it from happening. Dane is shocked to see Audra after all the years and all of their feelings, good and bad, rush back once they spend some time together. When he is flying her back to Colorado to help her out, they end up crashing and only having each other to rely on to survive. There is some heavy baggage they have to work through, some secrets revealed, and some sweet and sexy times...and they get a HEA ending.

Point Of View (POV): This alternated between Audra and Dane's POV. With some flashbacks in 3rd person narrative. I thought she did well in giving us the history without overloading the current story with it.

Overall Pace of Story: Good (except the end -- see below). I never skimmed and I thought it flowed well otherwise.

Instalove: Kind of. Instant connection (through flashbacks).

H (Hero) rating: 4.5 stars. Dane. I know this will be controversial (especially after reading some reviews), but I really liked him! I liked how protective and loving he was. I also felt that while he handled things wrong during their trauma, that made him human! Otherwise he might have just been too good to be true in an annoying way 😜

h (heroine) rating: 4 stars. Audra. I liked her. I get that she was damaged, but I appreciated her strength.

Sadness level: Moderate. I shed some tears but never needed any tissues.

Push/Pull: Yes

Heat level: Good. They have some good tension, chemistry, and scenes -- but not very many scenes and so much it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes

OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) drama: Not really

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: Yes

Possible Triggers: Yes

Closure: This ends in a good place and what I would call a HEA ending , but I wanted much more closure tbh! It feels like their big conflict ends, there are some quick bows tied with some of the lose ends, and then slap on a and that's it! I know I'm being super greedy because they did work through most of their stuff on the mountain 🙈 but I just wanted more.

Safety: This one should be either Safe or Safe with exception for most safety gang readers depending on personal preferences

DANE’S STORM literally swept me up in its eye and I found it very difficult to put it down, which is unusual for audio considering it’s my commuting buddy. The story was compelling, charting a second chance between Audra and Dane. The twist at mid-way took me by surprise but it wasn’t unwelcome, in fact, that dragged me in more.

Audra is a kind of annoying and insipid initially but she did develop. Dane was swoon-worthy in characterisation but the narrator choice for his POV was such a disappointment; he came across too old and a little voice-over in tone, almost over-rehearsed. However, his POV is less than the female narration and the story was strong enough to carry you through. I’m thinking that in the long run when this comes out in ebook/paperback, that will be the format of choice and will inspire much higher ratings.

The wrap up was a little rushed and neat but I stopped everything to finish, so that tells you how addictive this one was. It’s been a while since I’ve read Mia Sheridan but this book reminded me how she writes epic love stories in small bites.

I’d recommend this book for fans of On the Island and Withering Hope.

It was a great story of survival and emotional second chance romance. Audra Dane have this very complicated and beautiful story.
I really loved it. It picked my interest right from the start and kept me wondering what must have happened to them and the things that happened to them, later on, make it very difficult to put it down.

Dane’s Storm (Audible Edition) by Mia Sheridan
5 stars!!!

I have been listening to a lot of audibles recently, audible first has certainly made me use existing credits that I leave patiently waiting for the right book to come along. Dane’s Storm was a no brainer for me and anyone that knows me knows that Mia Sheridan has penned my all-time favourite read, Archer’s Voice and now I cannot wait to actually read this one in print. Now, what I am going to say is something I never, ever thought I would say, Dane’s Storm is Archer’s equal. Two very different stories yet both have left a lasting effect. This is a story I will definitely read time and time again, a book that will go on my all-time favourites list and a first in my audible listening experience…it made me cry and not just a few tears either, guttural sobbing in parts.

Mia Sheridan never fails to deliver with her words, words that on their own mean one little thing, yet when she effortlessly weaves them together, they pack one hell of an emotional punch and she definitely doesn’t hold back with Dane’s Storm. This is second chance romance at it’s finest with a lot of emotion, drama I never saw coming and a lesson that you don’t choose love, love chooses you.

Social class is the biggest hurdle that these two childhood sweethearts have to overcome, they married young and divorced soon after, after a tragedy robbed them of happiness. Dane loved Audra with everything he had and vice versa, but sometimes love isn’t enough when you have a meddling family that don’t believe in marrying beneath them. When Dane and Audra’s paths cross years later, no-one could have anticipated what these two would have to go through to get their happy ever after.

These two had never moved on from the other emotionally, although Dane did try, both their hearts yearning for that first love, love that was never forgotten and remembered frequently. Audra’s life has literally been frozen in time for the seven years they have been apart with Dane being her first and only. When Audra’s business comes under threat from Dane’s tyrannical grandmother, Audra has no option than to seek Dane’s help in the vague hope that he can put a stop to the woman that had never accepted her and was determined to destroy her.

I have to say; the narrators did a fantastic job in bringing these characters to life. At first it took a while to gel with Dane’s voice but once I got used to his often-breathy dialogue it didn’t needle me as much as it did to begin with. Audra’s narrator was succinct, with great expression and emotion and I felt that this narrator really delved into Audra’s character and made this her own.

I went into this one totally blind as I always do with a Mia Sheridan book so I was not expecting the plane crash at all, which, had I read the synopsis I would have known about. When these two find themselves helpless on a snowy mountain top, Mia Sheridan really ramps up the drama as this second chance romance takes on a Survivor twist and makes these two realise that they truly cannot live without one and other, but with their precarious situation, that choice may be taken away from them.

This was emotion overload, my tear ducts were working overtime with this one and as I said above, I have never cried with audio before. This one pulled those emotional punches one after the other as your heart hopes that now they have reconnected, it isn’t taken away. With an epilogue to die for, Mia Sheridan wraps up this second chance with a lot of love and a story that I will treasure for a long, long time.

OMG!!! Mia Sheridan DID IT AGAIN!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE <3

Just finished and I'm emotionally spent. Gripping, intense, passionate, and so beautiful. I was on my seat the entire time until the last word was spoken. It was then that I was able to breathe a big sigh of relief. I was crying fat ugly tears and happy ones at the end. Mia delivered another EPIC, gorgeous and unforgettable love story.

The first part of the book’s alternate past and present is in Audra’s POV. Audra and Dane met when they were in high school. Dane was Audra’s first kiss, first love, first everything. Dane came from a privileged family and Audra was from an entirely different social class. The two married at 18 but tragedy struck and they could not weather the storm. Their marriage lasted less than 2 years. Nearly a decade later, Audra lives a quiet life in her hometown of Colorado running a small flower business, something Dane bought for her as a wedding gift. Audra put her heart and soul into her business but Dane’s grandmother threatened to take back Audra’s building and put her out of business. Did Dane have anything to do with this? How could he sit by and let this happen? Confused and hurt, Audra flies to California to confront Dane. It’s the first time Audra comes face to face with the only man she ever loved after seven years apart. Dane is surprised to see his ex-wife in the flesh and even more surprised to learn of his grandmother’s actions and lies. Dane offers to fly Audra back to Colorado but their plane crashes on the way. Dane and Audra barely survive the plane crash. With a week-long of bitter winter storms and no way of communication, they are forced to trust, safeguard and protect each other in order to survive the second biggest crash of their life. This is a big testament of their love and devotion for each other despite the hurt, mistakes and misunderstanding of their past. Man oh man! Does this kind of love still exist in real life????

The story starts out steady at the beginning but by the time Audra and Dane reunite it was game on. There was a load of angst, anticipation, and passion. You can feel the love, attraction and adoration dripping off the characters. The tension and chemistry was intense. There is no denying that Audra and Dane are soulmates. I was heartbroken hearing the recount of the devastating loss and heart break both Audra and Dane went though. They were both kids and were not equipped to deal with life’s adversities. Now, it is in the remote, unforgiving wilderness they are faced with life and death, triumph and failure - their survival story is gripping and heart-wrenching. This is where I felt the overwhelming, emotional, and breathtaking love these two have for each other. The ending was a huge surprise. Just when you thought it was over, there is an exciting twist I did not expect at all – a very good surprise that melted my heart. The epilogue is just PERFECT! Put a huge smile on my face and I felt a ton lighter.

This is an incredibly romantic, heartfelt second chance love story. If you are familiar with Mia Sheridan’s books at all, she has a way of sucking you deep into the story and taking you on an emotional roller coaster ride. I cannot help but sob like a baby every time. In the end, my heart and soul sing with happiness and contentment that Audra and Dane survive and their love is nothing short of epic. Dane’s Storm is utterly exquisite guys!!!

Stock up on tissues and grab yourself a comfortable seat because you will not be able to stop.

Mia does it again! Just when I thought my heart and soul couldn’t be twisted anymore, she went and laid the heartbreak on me again!! There were so many real moments in this book. Audra and Dane needed that time of healing and boy did they get it. Things happened that I never saw coming. I just love second chance romances.

Here's some reviewers justifying a husband going on with the decision of divorce by his CLEARLY depressed and mentally unhealthy wife who is in SERIOUS NEED of therapy and not thinking clearly to take such a drastic step. The least he could have done is gone to a marriage counselor. Oh no yeah. We have all these excuses of him being a 21 year old and himself going through grief with college and responsibilities and whatnot so he can't take so much pressure. You know what? I call it BS. I call him a coward and unable to be the rock in the relationship and clearly UNDESERVING to be a spouse who puts his recently devasted wife through more separation instead of fighting for them both. You are giving me all this absolute CRAP about how this happens in reallife and people make bad decisions blah blah. But let me give you another real life situations where people LOVE THEIR MENTALLY ILL SPOUSES ENOUGH TO BE STRONG, RESILIENT AND WILLFUL to keep them grounded and not let them crumble. So okay the author wants to portray a weak male character. He took the easier way out and went with the decision of his DEPRESSED wife and the divorce happened. The story should have ended there. He should have moved on with that OW. But DONOT TELL ME to believe for once that he has this "undying love" for his ex-wife who he clearly ABANDONED to fend for herself. Okay he was 21 then. Now? Is he a baby now? Is he an immature boy now? How do you explain an adult man going into a SERIOUS LONGTERM SEXUALLY ACTIVE RELATIONSHIP with a woman and even decides to marry her because he feels it's what she would expect and then turns around and stalks his ex-wife because he has this "love" for her? Are you kidding me? I m not obliged to believe this man has anything other than a weak personality and is undeserving of any kind relationship. HE. IS. A . COWARD. PERIOD. He has commitment and attachment problems. He runs from a difficult relationship when it stops being convinient for him and then lands in another convinient relationship until he realises he again has to commit and runs back to the first one again. He is worst than a playboy. He is a asshole of grade-C and he lacks the capabilities to hold a stable relationship. And so you want to know real life? Yeah in real life, assholes like this DONOT GET A SECOND CHANCE and are thrown out as soon as they show their self-glorified face claiming oh so undying love.
What a mess.

"Forget everyone else, my sweet butterfly dancer. You were mine, even then. Before I ever met you."

Dane's Storm is a beautiful contemporary romance by one of my favorite authors. I love second-chance romance, so I was extra excited about this book. If you read the blurb, you know that the main characters were married. I was curious about why their marriage didn't work out. I was happy that the past was shown in flashbacks instead of the story being broken into two parts. There were young when they went through some very difficult times, and they didn't know how to handle it. It broke my heart to read those flashbacks, but some of the scenes also brought a smile to my face. The author does such a great job in creating amazing romance stories, and she reinvents herself each time. She doesn't recycle her stories, each one feels fresh and original.

I enjoyed how the story progressed and was satisfied with their reunion. There was no animosity between them, and they were very respectful to each other. It is obvious that they both still have very strong feelings for one another. This story is also part survival romance (which is a subgenre I love!), they were stranded on a mountain and injured. I loved seeing how they took care of each other, and finally were able to bring down the walls they had built around themselves. Especially, Audra kept most of her feelings hidden from Dane which was one of the reasons why they didn't work out. There was plenty of character development and I enjoyed seeing these two people heal and come back together again. I just wanted this story to be a chapter or two longer, I felt like the ending was a little bit rushed. I wanted to see more of them as a couple back in the normal world.
