Sisters of Mythology

The Three Fates

Rate this book
The world fears them, for they possess the power to shape destiny: Lachesis, Klotho, and Atropos. Yet, what truly strikes fear into the heart of one of the three Fates? Her own sisters.

The weaver, Lachesis, has fallen in love with a mortal and is terrified her other siblings will find out. What is thicker than blood? Could it be love… or does family and duty triumph over everything else?

Who is the mysterious stranger that has captured her mind and soul? Even Lachesis isn’t sure. She hopes the inflexible one, Atropos, never finds out or she will cut his life cord away. Her other sister, Klotho, will rewind the thread and make it seem like he never existed. Does Klotho already know and has been keeping quiet, or has she been neglecting her duties, too?

Despite the danger, Lachesis plans to see him again tonight and steal a few moments away with her beloved. But her heart is in flux. Her lover said he has something important to ask of her. What could it be? Will he finally reveal his true identity… or will Lachesis discover something she wishes she had never known?

This is a super cute novella inspired by the Three Fates of the Greek Mythology (obviously). I love how different and humane the sisters' personalities are. The Gods are so often depicted as perfect, so to see them think, feel and act like us mortals is always invigorating!
Although short, I love the core idea of this story! It even has potential to become a longer novel with more details and backstories. All in all, it would benefit from a bit more details, but I liked it even as a shorter story!

3.5, rounding up. I liked the plot in this one, it felt like it fit well into what I know of Greek mythology. And the cat storyline was touching. This would have benefited greatly from a proofreader’s attention. It irritated me that it kept switching from past to present tense, often within the same paragraph, and not in the context of dialogue. Sometimes, the jargon also got more modern than the rest of the dialogue was striving for. Overall, I think there’s some clear talent in the author, but it needs some better editing.

Enjoyable short story based on a unique storyline. Likeable characters which I enjoyed getting to know. Given the unique idea of this story, it would have benefited from being longer - providing more details to flesh out the storyline as well as building out characters who could easily have a book each of their own. I'm hoping this story ends up being an introduction to a longer series, for example, exploring each character before this point.

I was intrigued by this after reading Aisha's frog prince retelling. This one I didn't enjoy as much. Some things were interesting and matched Greek Mythology, but the things that were changed bothered me a little too much. I would've rather we pick one lane versus trying to straddle two. I did like that Thanatos became a Cat Dad though. That was a cute.

3.5 stars but rounded up.
As a long time lover of Greek Mythology I’ve never really delved into the Fates much so this was interesting.

And made better by a cat being a key character 😂
