I’m still absolutely loving this series.
It baffles me how some incredible stories don't get the recognition they deserve. While “Oldboy” is widely known thanks to the films, the manga itself seems to be largely overlooked. In my opinion, it deserves much more attention and appreciation.

Sirva este tomo para reseñar la obra completa, que son 3 tomos (los dos anteriores siendo volumen 1 y volumen 2.)
No soy gran lector de manga actualmente. En mi juventud sí leía más, pero hace tiempo que no, y mi principal interés en acercarme a este es, como no puede ser de otra manera, la adaptación cinematográfica que se hizo allá por 2003
La premisa básica es que a Shinichi Goto le han mantenido secuestrado en un cuartucho durante 10 años. Un día, sin saber por qué, le dejan en libertad, y allí empezará un juego del gato y el ratón entre él y su captor. Estos 3 volúmenes recogen la obra íntegra de esta historia.
Voy a decirlo ya, y me lo quito de encima. La historia está bien, es interesante, pero la resolución es floja. Sobre todo conociendo la película, que le da una vuelta y es increíblemente más efectista en todo. Además de más breve. Para ser 80 capítulos, hay demasiada repetición de escenarios y situaciones, que no llevan a nada nuevo. Sé que es el estilo en que se escribe, pero se me hace lento y repetitivo.
Pero eso no quita para que lo haya disfrutado bastante, además de que al haber diferencias muy marcadas, era algo nuevo y diferente. No creo que lo relea a futuro, pero merece la pena al menos leerlo una vez.

Not as good as the previous volumes because of the slow pace, but still interesting enough intrigue the readers into reading another volume.

Novelón en tres tomos (o comicón, o tebeón) que va de más a menos. Un tipo se pasa diez años encerrado en una cárcel privada, sin saber por qué ni por quién. Empieza así una búsqueda, que deviene en juego del gato y el ratón, para averiguar qué demonios pasó y por qué se ha pasado una década en una celda sin ventanas. Le acompañarán en su búsqueda personajes de lo más variado, como un ex policía, un viejo amigo convertido en barman, una puta de lujo, una muchacha más inocente que el hombre que compró la Torre Eiffel y otros cuyo rol no menciono para no espoilear al personal.
Mil quinientas páginas de cómic adictivo finalizan en un anticlímax un tanto simplote. El final de historia se merece dos estrellas, pero la ambientación y el dibujo son tan formidables que le sumo una más.

Jojojo esperaba otro final, más como el de la película, este final está bueno pero en definitivamente me quedo con la película, obviamente la versión coreana.

A bit more clues, but still no sight into what the heck happened and why he was jailed for 10 years. I like that although it is a bit slow, the mystery keep deepening, and more questions pop up. Still very engaged!

Things are moving along, but the major pieces of the puzzle have yet to be revealed. There are a few parts that border on silly, but this is still a very compelling read.

simplemente, la mejor parte de lo que he leído de la obra sé encuentra en este tomo. No sólo el desarrollo del personaje principal y sus hazañas que vivió aquí, sino el giro al final del tomo que deja al lector considerando la frase "mantener tus amigos cerca y tus enemigos aún más" fue llevada cabalmente aquí

The plot just keeps on thickening for Goto as his mystery captor lures him down a wild game and treacherous game.
Volume 3, and the whole series since it started, feels like a slow-burn. This doesn't necessarily make it a deal breaker for me, I rather enjoy character studies and this is very much one, although sometimes as an outside perspective you can't help but want to speak to the character and give him advice on what he should and shouldn't be doing or what path he shouldn't be taking... mostly due to the fact that, like many others, I watched Park Chan-wook's movie that was based on this book.
The original series, however, is different enough that it keeps me guessing, while at the same time trying to figure out where key plot points are going with all the new and different information I am getting. Some things I already do know because of watching the adaptation, but I'm still curious to see how they will play out in the end.
Overall, I found this to be quite enjoyable and I can't wait to read Goto's (mis) adventures as he spirals further down the rabbit hole, as he homes in on his objective, or becomes more and more tangled in a web of deceit.

For 10 years I was locked up in a room, something like a "private prison". Who'd believe such a thing? Anyway, tonight... for the first time in ten years, I've breathed the air of the world...
While I wait for the remaining volumes of Judge to arrive, I thought I'd start reading my volumes of Old Boy which have been sitting on a shelf for far too long.
Shinichi Gotō was kidnapped, by forces unknown, and kept in a small cell with only a television for company. Mysteriously released after 10 years he now has a singular focus. To find those responsible and to discover the reason for his incarceration.
For anyone who has seen the film, there will instantly be obvious differences, including the duration of his captivity. I look forward to finding out where the original story takes me!

👉 Ha sido uno de los primeros mangas que leí, ya hace un tiempo de ello, y la tensión, furia e historia se mantienen durante los tomos de la obra.
👉 El guión en mi opinión es muy bueno, te va mostrando la inteligencia del protagonista y cómo no se deja llevar por el ímpetu una vez lo liberan. Poco a poco va labrando un plan para conocer quiénes han sido sus captores y hacérselo pagar.
👉 El dibujo con fondos definidos y oscuros, acompañan perfectamente la narración. Aunque el guión para mí está por encima.
👉 La película que si bien no es totalmente fiel al manga, transmite su tensión y tiene sin duda su hueco en el apartado de psycho thriller.

Se nota que es la recta final de la historia, todo adquiere un tono narrativo mucho mas trabajado, tanto en diálogos como en el uso de las viñetas. El desenlace de la historia de oldboy es directo y va a lo que va sin miedo y sin pretensiones; estas son cosas que me gustan de los mangas dedicados a un publico adulto.
Sin duda es uno de los mejores mangas que he leído y de las historias de intriga e ingenio, pues sabe mantener el suspenso, dar giros y cambiar las normas planteadas al principio sin que nada se vea como un deus ex machina. Recomendado.

Avis intégralité : Découvrez une saga captivante qui vous emporte dès les premières pages ! Après avoir dévoré les extraits lors du festival de la BD en 2023, je suis devenu accro à cette histoire palpitante. Les premiers tomes m'ont totalement immergé dans leur univers, mais le troisième m'a laissé sur ma faim. Malgré cela, l'intrigue reste passionnante et le développement psychologique du personnage principal est remarquable. Un manga à ne pas manquer pour les amateurs de récits captivants !

Incredibly slow pace - I mean just image after image of streets and glasses of booze.

I really like the film noir look and feel of this.
I’m not sure why they feel the need to stretch this out so much - I mean I guess they kind of are paid by the page because you need to fill a book to sell a book - but it really is starting to drag.

Сжет рухається дуже повільно, але слідкувати цікаво. Це дійсно відрізняється від кіноверсії і в цьому є великий плюс. Нові персонажі, нові події, але головний герой досі не розкритий, як персонаж, чекаю.
