Simon Beecroft is the New York Times bestselling author of LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary as well as many other Star Wars titles for children, including Star Wars The Clone Wars: Watch Out For Jabba the Hutt, Star Wars: Luke Skywalker’s Amazing Story, and Star Wars: Beware the Dark Side. He has also written books on subjects as diverse as dinosaurs, extreme weather, future technology, Nelson Mandela, Power Rangers, and the Fantastic Four.
Fairly straightforward early reader book all about pod racing. Almost too simple in terms with random more complicated words. Why choose tools as a feature word when the only reference was Sebulba's use of them to damage other ships instead of explaining what they acre actually supposed to be used for or explaining a different word! Not my favorite but reasonable!
This rating is probably coloured by the fact that it’s not my favourite movie, the pod racing bores me in particular, and I don’t love books that have movie stills as illustrations. The girls liked it well enough.
I read Star Wars Ready, Set, Podrace and would use this in my classroom because I know a lot of kids love Star Wars, but it would also be good to discuss what makes a story science fiction.
Not my favorite one from this series (I thought for instance R2-D2 and Friends or Who Saved the Galaxy? were more enlightening), but my little boy enjoyed reading all about pod races, Anakin's race being probably his favorite part of The Phantom Menace movie. A great subject for an easy reader, as far as he was concerned ...
I am a big fan of DK books. They present information consistent to how they present it to more mature readers. This one goes through the essentials of a podrace and some of the key characters in this specific race. It is not largely plot driven because most of it is facts. The plot probably only cover four or give pages. Well done. My nephew will love this!
This book is great for the young Star Wars fan wanting to know more about podracing and podracers. Intended for those who are beginning to read, Level 1, it has simple sentences and limited vocabulary, picture glossary and simple index, and adult participation is helpful.
I liked it. It was awesome. It was cool. I liked when Sebulba crashed. They raced outside in the desert, where there is no food, no water, no anything.
I do not enjoy these books, but the boys at my school love them, so I read them to the kids. The older ones read them to themselves, but the little guys like to be read to.
