What could you get away with if you didn't officially exist?
Three years ago, Jude Wyland got out of the CIA. So far out that they'd never find her again. Or so she thought, until the CIA's deputy director--the biggest reason she left--shows up in her new life with an offer she can't refuse.
A little girl has been kidnapped. She's the daughter of the Virginia district attorney, and the clock is ticking on her life. Because the kidnappers have demands no one can meet.
Jude can't help taking the assignment. The circumstances mirror what happened to her own little sister almost thirty years ago--a case that was never solved. But as she delves deeper into a crime that's so much more than a simple ransom grab, Jude is horrified to discover there's only one man who can help her save the child before it's too late.
His name is Garrett Kane. He killed her former partner in cold blood, and he would have killed her, too. He's a psychopath with a badge--and because of his "specialized" assignments, the CIA erased his identity.
In short, he doesn't exist. Which means he can get away with murder.
Including hers.
BLACKOUT is a gripping crime thriller with an explosive twist, perfect for fans of Tess Gerritsen, Robert Dugoni, and Patricia Cornwell.
Very interesting book! I read it in a morning. It had a lot of exciting details, and the characters were all intriguing. The kidnapping of a little girl is always heartbreaking, and the rush to find her was non-stop!
Good novel, lots of action. Flawed, mostly likable characters. Two mysteries to solve, one of which was semi obvious. The biggest problem is the editing, which appears to be a trend in all her books. A “she” will be speaking and in the same sentence the pronoun “he” will be used, referring to the speaker. Or vice versa. Enough errors that it detracts from the story. A problem that turns a really good book into a good book.
I really enjoyed this book. Great characters, good pace (did do some skimming). I'm ordering the next in the series. I enjoy strong female characters and there were a couple of good ones in the story. Would definitely recommend.
I truly enjoyed this book. I couldn't turn the pages fast enough. Some twists and turns I didn't expect. And routing for Jude and Kane. Anxious and heading directly into book 2.
I truly enjoyed the story, however the typos throughout were distracting. For example the references to him when the main character is female. Even though a more thorough edit was needed I would still recommend to a friend.
This one unlike her other books was a little too graphic for me. I actually considered not reading the rest due to the content and I have severe panic disorder. I realize it is just a book, yet books sometimes mirror real life.
