I thought that the book was an attention grabber, because the facts and pictures are really fun and stuff you didn't even know that existed. The book talked about the corpse from around the world from past to present and they talk about how they used it for religion and how the made a better mummy materials for the body to last longer.
This book is probably one of the longest early reader books my son (recently 7) has read to me. And, I'm not going to lie, I almost skipped it based on the words per page. But, he did great. It was truly fascinating and we both learned a lot about mummies from not only Egypt, but also South America and Russia.
A look at the history of mummies from three different locations on the planet; Egypt, Inca, and Sicily. This book also tells of the preparation, religious concepts, and traditions of mummification.
This book per the cover is a Level 4 reader and is for students grades 2 - 4. It has a glossary in the back which is nice for reference. It's a pretty informative book that tells about King Tut along with Incan and Sicilian mummies. I found it very interesting since it included more than just Egyptian mummies.
This book covers not only the ancient Egyptians, but it talks about he Incas, the Sicilian mummies and Eva Peron. Very interested. The boys thought it was sooo cool!
My students always enjoy this book, along with all of the DK Readers. These non-fiction texts feature all of the typical features (captions, diagrams, glossary) but are told in narrative form.
