Pretending to be a celebrity billionaire's fake fiancée is anything but simple, especially when the man is my boss, Nate Crawford.
He's fifteen years older than me. One of the hottest actor-producers in Hollywood. And my childhood celebrity crush. Or at least, he used to be—before I became his daughter's nanny and realized how demanding he could be.
The only reason I haven't quit is because I adore his daughter, and I'd do anything for her. Which is how I find myself agreeing to a fake engagement to prevent Nate’s ex-wife from gaining full custody.
But when Nate kisses me, it feels real. And the longer we pretend, the easier it is to believe it's not all just an act. Now I'm worried his daughter’s future isn't the only thing at stake because I’m falling in love with my fake fiancé.
Jenna Hartley is USA Today bestselling author who writes forbidden romance that feels good, much like her own real life love story. Her stories feature strong women and swoon-worthy men, as well as sexy, sweet, and laughable moments that reflect real love.
When she's not reading or writing romance, Jenna can be found tending to her growing indoor plant collection (pun intended), decluttering (just ask her husband about "The Great Purge of 2015" as he calls it), and hiking. She lives in Texas with her family and loves nothing more than a good book and good chocolate, except maybe a dance party with her husband and daughter.
Omg. The constant Taylor Swift references became so UNBEARABLE I had to skim through to the end, which ended on the cringiest poem of mashed up Swifty song titles. My eyes rolled so far in the back of my head they still looking for a new ending devoid of friendship bracelets and red lipstick. 2 stars are generous…
I absolutely loved the bond between Em and Brooklyn. As a single mom, my kids are the most important thing to me, so finding someone who loves your kid and makes them a top priority is just something special.
𝒴ℴ𝓊𝓇 ℴ𝓇ℊ𝒶𝓈𝓂𝓈 𝒶𝓇ℯ 𝓂𝒾𝓃ℯ.
I loved seeing Kendall and Knox from Temptation in this one. If you haven't read that, please do. 🔥
Em and Nate have fantastic chemistry, and I just loved their banter. They both have feelings for each other but don't want to make things messy and complicated.
Things quickly heat up between these two with a fake engagement, but will this blow up in their faces, or can they make it work?
Oooh I really enjoyed this one! Single Dad x Nanny AND a fake engagement. Like how GOOD!
I loved the tension between Nate and Emerson so much and loved hearing about why he had put her at a distance. He was so charming and swoony. I loved how feisty Emmy was and her relationship with Brooklyn was so beautiful and genuine. I love a book with older kids!
I enjoyed this; the tension was thick and I loved how both these characters were willing to do anything for their families!
Reputation features Nate, a famous actor single dad who is guarded because he has been used in the past (particularly by an ex), and Emerson, a nanny who is a successful athlete on the verge of retirement.
Read Reputation for: ❤️🔥 Fake engagement ❤️🔥 Age gap ❤️🔥 Banter ❤️🔥 No third-act breakup ❤️🔥 Explosive chemistry and ALL the feels
There’s so much to like about this book. I loved how Emerson and Nate connected around their love for Nate’s daughter Brooklyn. It wasn’t their only draw to each other (there’s undeniable chemistry too!). They always focused on doing what was best for Brooklyn.
Nate is so supportive of Emerson. He really listens to her. He advocates for what she wants for her future and empowers her to achieve all of her dreams.
Side note, I enjoyed seeing a female athlete coping with the end of her career. It’s a perspective that’s rarely included in romance novels.
Reputation is a wonderful story of pursuing your dreams. I enjoyed seeing Nate and Emerson realize they are a perfect match.
I received an early copy of Reputation. All opinions in this review are my own.
Reputation is the second book in the standalone series to Temptation. I adored Temptation, so was vey excited for this book. I loved how much we got to see of Knox and Kendall from the first book. Emerson and Nate are so great in Reputation! Emerson is Nate’s daughter’s nanny through a nanny agency for billionaires. Emerson is great with his daughter Brooklyn, and I loved that part of the story.
Nate is gruff at first, but he and Emerson start to really fall for each other despite fighting the attraction. When things go wrong, they end up having to pretend to be engaged for a year. I love a fake dating forced proximity romance, so I ate this up! Nate and Emerson were so great together, and I loved how much he cared for her and looked out for her with things involving her family.
The banter. The angst. The chemistry. I was here for it all! Anytime a book has single dad/ nanny and age gap tropes, I’m going to read it and I’m so glad I got this arc because it did not disappoint!
Nate and Emerson worked so well together and the chemistry was there from the start! The fact that they could obsess over their love for Taylor Swift (as they should) made reading this book that much more enjoyable.
Reputation is the second book to the Tempt series and this follows Emerson and Nate which you get to see them in the first book. I loved all the banter and their chemistry between the two. If you want a hot age gap, single dad romance please read this book.
Training for the upcoming the USATF Indoor Championships is easy in comparison to Emerson’s nanny job. She’s trying her best to provide the best care for the bubbly preteen, but Brooklyn’s grouchy father has at her wits end. He’s mean, refuses to speak to Emerson in person, and now he’s trying to police what she posts on social media. He might be her boss at work, but she refuses to let him push her around during her free time.
Nate never should have hired Emerson. She’s the embodiment of temptation. She’s funny, great with his daughter, beautiful, headstrong, and runs circles through his mind like it’s an Olympic sized track. He’s got no time to be distracted, especially when his ex is trying to get custody of their daughter. Blame it on stress, but he finally pushes Emerson too far. He realizes his mistake when she has one foot out the door and he’s begging her to stay.
It’s only after Nate agrees to stop being such a pain, that the two realize the other isn’t so bad. Then an unfortunate trip to the hospital and an ill timed trip abroad brings them closer than ever.
Although Nate and Emersons lives couldn’t be more different, they have one important thing in common. Their reputations are their livelihood. Emerson is a heptathlon athlete rising back to the top of her game after an injury sidelined her, and Nate Crawford is a famous actor about to start a coveted roll so all eyes are on him. Both are dealing with the weight of a team counting on them, and are doing everything in their power to keep their head in the game. Until a little white lie turns their lives upside down. And the drama it causes? Oooooh it’s so good.
I’m LOVING this series so far! This was a great standalone, however it features characters from Jenna Hartley’s other books. If you don’t plan on reading her entire backlist that’s totally okay, but I highly recommend at least reading book one for the best enjoyment of the dynamics. That being said, it’s still easy enough to jump right in if you want to.
The nanny and the billionaire dad is by far one of my favorite tropes. There’s always something so delicious about that tension. It doesn’t matter how many times I read it, I gobble it up. And this book did it so well. I loved that even though this was a common trope, Reputation felt fresh and exciting. Especially since both characters had a following and we’re trying to deal with their vastly different levels of fame. It was interesting to see show their differing lifestyles affected their choices. They didn’t always see eye to eye and there were plenty of moments where they bickered, but I loved that they were willing to talk it out.
My favorite part of the book is how obsessed these characters are with Taylor Swift. It was such a fun addition and I found myself giggling along with every reference to her. Even Nate Crawford can’t resist a good Taylor Swift Sing-Off, and from the minute he joined in on their living room dance party I was sold. I love a man who’s not afraid to have fun with his daughter. Even if he ends up looking silly.
All in all this book was super cute. I can list things all day that make this book so scrumdillyumptious. Single dad. Crazy paparazzi. Fake fiancé. Ex drama. Mixed in with plenty of tender moments, tension, and lots of steam. There’s just so much to love about this story! I’m already excited for the next book and the sneak peek at the end has me feral. I cannot wait to see how that story plays out! I love watching these strong men lose their heads.
Huge thank you to Jenna Hartley for the eARC! It’s a pleasure to be in your team.
It is such a privilege to get to read this book early.
Nate is a 40 year old with a twelve year old daughter, who had been burned on more than one occasion by women due to his fame and/or his money. Nate had sworn off relationships since his divorce many years ago. Nate’s life is completely hectic and stressful, with feeling like the walls are closing in on him.
Emerson is 28/29 pro heptathlete who is in the midst of making big changes in her life. She has been nannying for Nate for a few months and is the bane of her existence. Emerson has finally had enough and confronts him to either change or she'll find a new placement.
This kicks Nate into action as he doesn't want to lose her because his daughter absolutely adores her. They begin to build a friendship for the next several months with tiny amounts of flirting here and there but never crossing the professional line.
Emerson has a scare and that lands her in the hospital which sends Nate into panic mode especially because they won't let him see her because he's not family and before even thinking about the consequences he says something that'll change the course of their friendship forever. Thrusting Emerson into a situation that she didn't really want.
Both Emerson and Nate struggle with this new territory as both have feelings for each other but neither say anything for fear of rejection.
I absolutely adored this book. The amount of growth from both characters was amazing. I enjoyed watching their dynamic change from beginning to end from foes to friends to fake lovers to lovers. Watching Nate put all his faith into someone and having that someone prove time and time again that he was right to trust them with not only his daughter but with his heart. And watching Emmy grow a backbone and stand up for what she wants, even if that means hurting her loved ones' feelings. If you haven't read the first book of this series, it's not required, but the stories do run concurrently, so I'd recommend it (plus it's a really good book).
Nate is Emerson’s teenage dream, her childhood crush. She can’t believe her luck when she finds herself nannying for Nate’s daughter, Brooklyn…that is until she gets to know Nate. Nate is super protective when it comes to his daughter and his rules are ridiculous. Her adoration for Brooklyn is the only thing that keeps her from quitting her job. She’d do anything for this little girl, even if it meant putting herself in the last position she ever imagined….as Nate’s Fiancee.
I absolutely adored this book. Emerson is a total spitfire and force to be reckoned with. As an athlete, she’s no stranger to stress and fame and isn’t willing to take crap from anyone, not even Nate. Nate might have a playboy image, but he’s put his heart on the line a time or two. Burned by love and past relationships, Nate likes to keep things calm and simple. He works hard and wants to be the best dad. But, Emerson was the plot twist he never saw coming. She challenges him in ways he’s unprepared for and when Emerson has a health scare, things take a turn neither one of them saw coming.
Together, Nate and Emerson had some truly amazing chemistry. I loved the push and pull between them, those will they/won’t they moments. The tension just oozed off of the pages and no matter how hard Nate tried, he didn’t stand a chance when it came to Emerson.
Reputation is a fantastic read from beginning to end. I was captivated from the very first interaction between Nate and Emerson and couldn’t help but root for them to find their happily ever after. And when you add in all of the wonderful Taylor Swift references, you’ve got yourself one enjoyable read.
If you’re looking for an entertaining age-gap, fake relationship romance, you’re not gonna want to miss Reputation. I hope you’ll fall head over heels for this story just as I have.
*I was provided an ARC copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review*
I’ve read a handful of books by Jenna, but this one was by far my favorite ! I Love the forbidden age gap, fake relationship love trope. Nate is a famous actor, and Emmerson’s childhood crush. She is an olympic athlete, and nannies for his 12 year old daughter Brooklyn. They have a mutual attraction to one another, but neither of them have ever admitted it. Nate has not always been the nicest to Em, as being his way to keep the distance between them as much as possible. When she has an accident, he accidentally slips the lie that he is her fiancees That’s when things get crazy for everyone . He’s confident that keeping up this lie will help him in a custody battle with his ex. Real feelings quickly develop between the two and they refuse to ignore them. This creates all sorts of obstacles for the two of them. This story is filled with a swoon worthy hot MMC, 🌶️🌶️ 🌶️ scenes and a heart warming story about new formed family. I loved how strong the MFC is and her perseverance with her dreams and wishes are admirable. These two characters showed such astounding growth in their characters and relationships. The best word I can describe their love is a fairytale. I loved every page of this book and was so sad when it ended ! I just wasn’t ready for these two to end. Chefs kiss ! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Second book in the series and again I mostly just want to say I really liked this book! It’s just right in my jam of not too complex but still connects emotionally and just an overall enjoyable romance read! I’m glad I picked this series up, not having read this author before.
This is about Knox’s (from the first book) brother Nate who is a single dad celebrity actor and billionaire heir x Kendall’s (from first book) best friend who is a former Olympic athlete and currently Nate’s daughter’s nanny. It has age gap (though not addressed much), fake relationship, and one bed tropes with a slight dislike-to-lovers vibe though it changes pretty easily.
Nate and Emerson are both great characters, I really liked them both and enjoyed their personalities. They’re both kind of resistant in different ways, which makes a nice tension in the book. I also enjoyed the family aspects in this book and the struggles/growth around that.
I just like this author’s writing I think - good pacing and storyline buildup for the romance, good vulnerable connection moments but also good open-door spice that fits for the story.
I’m going off my plan as I was meant to start some ARCs and then get back to my already-downloaded-on-Kindle list but I went and downloaded book 3 in this series!
I am incredibly amazed at how much I loved this book. I absolutely fell in love with the characters, the plot, and especially the Taylor Swift references.
Reputation follows Nate, the rich actor, and Emerson, a nanny and an Olympian, as they battle the spotlight, the truth, and a fake engagement.
I personally don’t like reading books with the single dad trope; however, I swear this book cast a spell on me because I absolutely devoured it. I loved Nate and Emerson’s relationship. Their connection and chemistry was undeniable. There was never a point in this book where I had to question whether or not they were right for each other. While they may have sometimes argued, they always worked it out. A+ communication skills 🤩
Brooklyn, Nate’s daughter, was the icing on the cake. While I usually feel like adding kids to a romance story takes away from the main couple’s relationship, Brooklyn only enhanced their relationship. She was unknowingly the glue that held their relationship together and I couldn’t have loved her more! 🫶
Finally, I can’t get over the fact that I cried over Taylor Swift references. Trust me when I say that they were used perfectly throughout the book and that they pulled at my heart strings every single time!
Overall, this was an amazing romance. I truly appreciate being given an ARC for this book because it truly was a wonderful experience!
Tropes: 💜 Billionaire/Actor/Single Dad 💜 Nanny/Olympian 💜 One Bed 💜 Fake Engagement 💜 Age Gap 💜 Forbidden Love
This book grabs your heart from beginning to finish, and I couldn't put it down. I felt so much angst reading it, and I cried, OMG... I literally had tears falling from my eyes while reading this book and my heart ached so much... 😭 It’s just a beautiful book, with a beautiful story about Nate, Emerson and little Brooklyn. What starts with a fake engagement, it ends with the sweetest relationship between 2 amazing characters. Both Nate and Emerson are really strong, but also have a lot of insecurities that sometimes prevent them from communicating with each other, and that really infuriated me and made me scream to the book and just yell “TALK!”, because if they just talked all would have been easier. Nate is just so sweet and protective that made me swoon all over and sigh, and swoon some more… 🥰 And the love that Emerson as for Brooklyn is just so heartwarming and beautiful, that fills your heart with love. 😍🥰 And this book is just so H.O.T 🔥, and Nate as the dirtiest mouth, and will just say, yes, sir, please and thank you! I really have enjoyed and fell in love with this book. So just go and read it, you will not regret it, I promise you!
Ahhhhh I’m kicking my feet and SWOONING over this book. Nate & Em were absolutely everything! Their chemistry was off the charts and I loved THEIR COMMUNICATION!
There was no miscommunication in this book and it was refreshing! They were so open with each other and I loved it! Plus, the relationship they both had with his daughter was so loving. I’m going to have to read Temptation and Jenna’s other series!
𝐅𝐚𝐯𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐞 𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬: “I don’t mind getting dirty. Especially if it involves something sweet.” I flicked my tongue over the icing like I wanted to flick her clit. “And pink. And perfect.”
“Because I want you. And it’s distracting and infuriating and inappropriate. I can’t have you, and yet, I can’t stop thinking about you.”
• Fake Engagement • Single Dad/Nanny • Age Gap • Billionaire • No third act break up • One Bed 🌶️🌶️.5
Reputation is a romance with a billionaire and his former pro athlete nanny that turns into a fake marriage. I loved all the tropes in this one and felt like there was a great synergy between them. Nate is wholeheartedly devoted to his daughter and it was amazing to see both him and Emerson put her needs first in every situation. I really liked the characters and loved that they were likable but still had some angst as to why they couldn't give into their situation. I did feel like something was missing for me which left me rating this more of a 3.5, so I rounded up. it could have been jumping straight into a established bond that I missed a lot of the lead up tension or angst. I still really love this author and am glad I read this one.
I’m always a sucker for a single dad/nanny romance, but this might just be my favourite yet! Emerson was the ultimate strong, independent female lead which I always love to read. While Nate was the billionaire alpha-male with a soft, sweet side - especially when it comes to his daughter. But then you put them together and they were one of my favourite book couples.
This one can absolutely be read as a standalone, but the cameos from some of my favourite Jenna Hartley characters made for such a great read. I can’t wait to see what’s next from this author!
what to expect : •billionaire romance •age gap (29 x 43) •nanny x employee •single father •fake engagement •mutual pinning •no 3rd act breakup
I really enjoyed it too. I loved that both Nate and Emerson were pretty much mature about what they wanted and their feelings. There was no drama or miscommunication, they just talked and I appreciated it a lot. Emerson and Brooklyn relationship was amazing, they share an amazing bond. Everything was pretty good and if you like the “single dad x nanny” romance, this book is for you
Enjoyed Nate + Emerson’s story! It has some of my favorite tropes: single dad, nanny, fake engagement. It was a quick read filled with a good time, some angsty moments and tension that just made me want these two to snap. I also loved the dynamic between the two of them and Nate’s kid. It was done so well and ugh my heart is so happy with them.
From start to finish I found it difficult to put this book down. The chemistry between the characters, the character and story development, and all the little things thrown in it was spectacular.
I loved both characters so much and rooted for them throughout the entire book. There is one scene in this book that stood out above the rest and I love how the author intertwined Taylor’s music in it.
You definitely do not want to miss out on this must read!
Reputation by Jenna Hartley is a delightful and complex romantic tale that I thoroughly enjoyed. The book's portrayal of the tension between Emerson and Nate, as well as the incorporation of various tropes such as age gap, single dad, and fake relationship, made the story engaging and relatable. I appreciated that the plot wasn't solely focused on the relationship but also delved into Emerson's aspirations and Nate's complexities as a character. The book's Hollywood backdrop and the numerous Taylor Swift references added an extra layer of enjoyment for me. Overall, Reputation is a wonderful read that I would highly recommend to anyone who appreciates a well-crafted love story with compelling characters and a touch of glamour.
So many tropes - single dad / nanny; billionaire boss; fake engagement; age gap (15 years); just one bed. I'm usually on the fence about stories with a big power differential between the hero and heroine. In this case, Emerson, the heroine, is a strong Olympic athlete who nannies in between training.
Hartley is obviously a Swiftie. For Taylor fans, there are lots of song references.
let me start by saying if you're a Swiftie this book was MADE FOR YOU! Emerson and Nate's dynamic and banter will pull you in from the very beginning! This is the Gilmore Girls level of banter that I've been craving in a book! I love that it's a sports romance where SHE'S the athlete and a badass one at that! Emerson and Brooklyn have the most precious bond and you can really feel how much they love each other! Also I love how the fake engagement all started like okay Nate way to just lay all your cards out like that because you care about her like HOTTT! there's countless Swiftie references and it really made me want to go make friendship bracelets while blasting Taylor Swift music (taylor's version of course)!
ps. I love the Alondra Valley easter eggs!
tropes: sports romance (she's the athlete) single dad x nanny fake engagement age gap one bed billionaire celebrity
Single dad romance, age gap, banter, chemistry… what more can I can say about this book! Reputation sucked me in right from the start and I found myself not being able to put it down. We get to follow Nate and Emerson as they confront and handle their feelings for each other and their dynamic with sweet little Brooklyn. I’m always a sucker for a good single dad romance and this is definitely a great one to add to my list of favorites for this trope. We also have the sports romance dynamic and it was refreshing for once for the FMC to be an athlete and I loved getting to see how that played into Emerson’s life and decisions. I definitely can’t recommend this book enough, definitely one you need to get your hands on sooner rather than later!
