Sometimes Santa sends you the one thing you’ve always wanted and it’s all covered in fur.
Nicholas and I have been friends since the day he moved next door to my family when I was in kindergarten. We were inseparable, that is until the day before his sixteenth birthday, when everything has changed. I lost everything that day; my best friend, my joy, and the boy I was in love with.
It’s been ten years and I still haven’t discovered why he ghosted me. But one thing I have learned is that my love for him hadn’t been a silly crush. I still want him just as much as I did then and I hate it. Why can’t I move on and find a nice alpha to settle down with? Nicholas. That’s why.
And now I’m home for Christmas and it’s taking all of my energy to slap on a happy face and be merry for my parents. When my younger sister announces her engagement, I need air. I run out of the house and into the woods behind us only to find myself in the middle of a wolf fight, one that ends up with me both injured and happier than I’d ever been.

Jena began writing in January of 2013 as a New Year's Resolution--and so far she has stuck to it!
She lives in Michigan. By day she works as a web developer, and at night she writes. Born and raised on a farm, she spends most of her free time outdoors, playing in the garden, or riding her horses. She also helps run the family dairy farm.
This was a really good story. I loved the storyline and the characters. I feel like the way the storyline is, where the human feels the fated mate connection (even if they didn’t know it) and accepts it but the shifter didn’t know (or hadn’t recognized it), is something that I haven’t encountered before and with all the books I’ve read, that’s pretty rare for me, lol.
I’m a sucker for hurt/comfort so I totally wouldn’t have minded even more of it or maybe what was included being dwelled on more than it was.
Even though I kind of understood where Nicholas’ parents were coming from and there wasn’t really much choice for them, it was still pretty messed up and I felt so bad for both Nicholas and Christopher… mostly Christopher though.
The reason for the 4 stars is because I just felt like there was something missing. Not 100% sure on what but maybe more reaction from Christopher about the shifter world existing? But then on the other hand, he already loved Nicholas so much and was just so happy not to have been rejected by him that I can see how he could get past it the way he had.
Overall, the book is great and I definitely recommend it!

Omega Christopher has never gotten over Nicholas, his best friend and secret crush, leaving town without word a decade earlier, and has been unable to even explore relationships with others without becoming physically ill. As a teen, alpha wolf shifter Nicholas had to leave town, and his best friend, as his first shift approached, as he might have posed a potential danger to those around him at the time. Ten years on, Christmastime finds the two unexpectedly returning to town to spend the holidays with their respective families. Christopher is unsettled by family news and goes to the woods to reign in his emotions when he’s surrounded by wolves. Nicholas scents Christopher and overcome with the emotions of finding his mate, claims him with a bite. Lovely to see the two reconnect and realize that they were meant to be, even if circumstances parted the two. Christopher had such a rough time being separated from Nicholas – it was great when Mom showed her care for her son and made things clear to Nicholas. Would have loved to have had more of Nicholas’s family. Nicholas’s gift to Christopher was lovely. Hot and steamy fated mates human-wolf shifter romance with a side of angst, a sweet couple, and a happy holiday ever after.
This was a sweet Christmas romance where two childhood friends reunite and find out that the pull they always felt meant they were fated mates all along. I loved Christopher and Nicholas and I felt for their heartbreak when Nicholas had to leave due to his coming of age change. These two were best friends that also had strong feelings for each other, that were separated for over a decade. They both thought that the other one forgot about them, even though they were both pining for each other all this time. After ten years, Christopher comes home for the holidays and has an unexpected reunion with Nicholas in the woods. Secrets are revealed and they can finally be together at last.
I'm still mad at Nicholas' parents, even though they thought what they were doing was right for all parties. They created so much heartache for those boys and kept them apart when they needed each other to be whole.

This book captured me by its cover. It already starts earning a star when the cover is beautiful. I often become interested in a book because of this. Sure, I read my fair share of bad books with pretty covers (It felt like a betrayal). These authors have a history of ugly and tacky covers that hurt. I've read some titles by both and the writing style is the same.
The story is without anguish, without emotion either and even though the authors tried to describe the environment in which the story takes place and each scene, it didn't do much good. It was all very easy. You abandoned me, but I lost you. I wrote to you and never got a response. Lost you. I suffered like an abandoned animal. Lost you. Your parents didn't give you my letters. Forgiven. I understand that they are fated companions, but it was too easy. The suffering of the other was not validated. Christopher's mother charged Nicholas for how much he made her son suffer, but Nicholas' parents did not apologize to Christopher for what they did to him.
So, it wasn't good, but it wasn't bad either. For those who have read books by these authors, you know that the water doesn't go beyond the calf.
This book is a stand alone but it is related to the Asilo Pride series. This is the story of Nicholas and Christopher. Christopher is an omega human and best friend to Nicholas until he ghosted Christopher on his 16th birthday. Nicholas is an alpha wolf shifter. He left without warning on his birthday so that he could shift and learn to control his wolf. The two boys loved each other as best friends and the hole it left never healed. Nicholas was too young to understand the bond that they shared. When they finally meet up again both are miserable and once again life doesn't go as planned. This is their story. It is a sweet story but it just didn't grab me like these authors usually do. There is nothing wrong with the story but to me it is forgettable. The book is written well and easy to read. It is a quick sweet story.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the story of Nicholas and Christopher, and how they were torn apart at sixteen. And now, years later, they are reunited again. Christopher knew that Nicholas was his one, and only, and even though he was human, he knew that he was destined to be the mate of Nicholas. Nicholas was told he had to leave Christopher with no word of where he was because he wolf was out of control, and he needed to learn to control him and his shifting, Christmas had arrived, and he learned that Christopher‘s family would be home for Christmas. When he saw Christopher in the woods and his cousins surrounding him, he had to mark him and claim him. What started out as an accident, turned into a happily ever after with his childhood sweetheart.

"It wasn’t normal for a person to be so hung up on a crush"
This was a sweet Christmas story set in the Waiting Hearts world. Written by Jena Wade and the writing team of Lorelei M. Hart.
What a heartwarming story, I wasn't ready for it to be over. I loved Christopher and Nicholas.
Best friends separated at 16 years of age. Christopher, the boy left behind, pines for his best friend Nicholas. He never understood why his best friend left and why he is unable to move on and find his own happiness.
Ten years have passed before their fateful meeting in their hometown at Christmas time. Secrets will be revealed before they can be together at last.
Childhood friends to lovers, fated mates, shifter/human, meddling families, brings the heat, mpreg
Oh my stars! This is a sweet one. Nick and Chris were besties since they were in kindergarten. When they became teenagers, thoughts changed and Chris's feelings grew more personal. Then Nick ghosted Chris. Chris spends the next ten years mourning Nick, asking why? He couldn't see, feel or embrace anyone else. It was Nick, or no one. Nick, has secrets. Secrets he didn't even tell Chris. He thought about Chris, longed for Chris. Fantastic story! Nick and Chris are absolutely adorable nice guys who you instantly love and hope they can work through their differences and find a good solution. Well done! This is a story you will feel happy rereading. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved this book. It was such a sweet romance. I loved both Christopher and Nicholas. Their bond was so strong even from when they were teenagers. My heart broke for how much Christopher longed for Nicholas after he vanished, and for all the letters he wrote that were never answered. That part made me mad and while I like how that turned out by the end, I wish there was some kind of conversation or accountability with Nicholas's parents. The unlikelihood of the two of them being together was resolved fairly easily- I'd expected some more pushback in that regard. But I wasn't disappointed that it played out exactly as it did. These two were adorable together. 5 stars.
Christopher has never gotten over his secret crush, best friend Nicholas. Both ended up leaving town and their lives weren't what they expected them to be. Life has a way of working things out. The holidays brought both men back to where it all began. Christopher unexpectedly ends up in a situation and it was Nicholas who scents him - his mate. Fate brought them back together and love has a way to make things clear. Adorably cute couple, reconnecting in the most surprising of circumstances.

Nicholas and Christopher had been best friends until one day when Nicholas turned sixteen he disappeared. His parents said he went to a boarding school and that it was always planned for him to go there when he turned sixteen. Christopher is heart broken, he thought they might be more then friends. Ten years has passed and they are both home at the same time. Christopher finds out that Nicholas has a secret and it was why he had to leave back then. Will they be able to overcome it and be together? I really enjoyed this book.
This was such a sweet heartwarming yet short story about true love and fated mate's. Christopher and Nicholas had been best friends until Nicholas's 16th birthday. Christopher was in love with Nicholas but had never stated his feelings. But when Nicholas disappeared it crashed Christopher. Until that fateful Christmas Day when they were reunited.

Ooh this was such a great story! Childhood best friends who never got the chance to be more because one of them is a shifter and was sent away to learn to control his wolf. The connection the two main characters felt with each other can be felt by the reader, from the moment they're back in each others lives the connection is present, even without the marking they both always felt it drawing them together. Beautifully written and an enjoyable read.
Sweet Christmas, story about finding love on Christmas. Nicholas comes to the rescue of his school boy crush. Turns out they are fated mates and after ten years their love is realized. Great book and I recommend it!.

Pet peeve:: when one character calls the other *omega mine,* or any other variation, like brother mine. It's a personal thing, I know, but it bugs me. So far, at 56%, it's happened three times. Super ugh. Also, this feels pretty uneventful and kinda boring. From 70% on, it felt perfunctory. I skimmed.
This book is a really sweet second chance, fated mates romance. Two best friends separated by circumstance for a decade find their way back to each other. Christopher and Nicholas come together again during Christmas since their families were neighbors.
This was such a fluffy romance, and I absolutely loved it.
Nicholas and Christopher missed out on a lot of time. Fate brought them back together and this time nothing would separate them. I found This nice, easy, low-angst holiday story perfect for the season.
This was a short (70 minutes) but sweet second chance at love Christmas story. It could have benefited from another good proofreading as there were a number of editing and continuity errors, but overall this was an enjoyable read.
I absolutely loved this story. This was the perfect Christmas read. Friends to lovers, second chances, fated mates and Christmas miracles. I absolutely adored these two, they were so cute together and it was such a great emotional story.
Nick and Christopher were friends for a very long time but were separated because of Nick's heredity. After coming home, Nick and Christopher finally meet up and friendships are rekindled.
This was a wonderful tale, there was a lot of longing on the human omegas part though because of a long separation. The mating is sudden and kind of intense but so much love and sweetness after. I loved it!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review. It is a very heartwarming tale and perfect Christmas gift for Nicholas and Christopher. I found the story very romantic.
I really enjoyed this sweet 2nd chance romance. The longing and loss both Nicholas and Christopher felt when Nicholas left was understandable when it turned out that they were fated mates the love and devotion they always had for each other was plain to see, lovely feel good holiday romance story.
Well written story and well developed characters. Those are the most important things, to me, in a book. It needs to grab my interest and keep it from the beginning and all the way to the end! This one does that! So emotional and involving!
Christopher + Nicholas (Wolf shifter) •Second chance •Omegaverse + MPreg •Christmas time •Fated mates •Novella (139 pages) Not bad per say, just a bit short and under-developed.
