Three worlds they invaded before the Solaran Fleet ground them to a halt.
The aftermath spared no one in the Empire. Refugees flooded the core, trade routes crumbled, and economies collapsed.
Homeworlds were lost, lives shattered.
But from the ashes, three heroes emerged.
Witness the origin stories of the Fleet's finest starfighter pilots, the trials that molded them, and the events that put them on a path to ultimately save humanity.

A great little prequel series! I read these as separate stories, and thoroughly enjoyed them. If you have read the accompanying series, then these stories are a must-read. If you haven't, then these are a nice start to the other books, but equally well they can just be read as three standalone stories. But I bet you will want to read more! If you like sci-fi, then these are really worth reading.
After reading all of the Starfighter series, this was a great way to gain more understanding of the backgrounds of some favorite characters. I was not disappointed! I think these can be read before the actual series, but I also know what happens to these characters, so I suggest reading these after the main series. In any case, Herron writes awesome stuff and this is no exception!
A great introduction to the series "Relics of the Ancients" with the background for the three major participants. I read book one in the series before I read this one and it stood alone just fine. However, it would help if you read this one first.
