The Widowed Nanny

Rate this book
Recently widowed, Kierra Houston is ready to give up all hope of getting justice for her husband’s death when she walks into Jonathan Baker’s office with her three-year-old daughter, Kiyah. Before Jonathan, she was turned away by sixteen lawyers who refused to represent her wrongful death suit against Vance Oil, who claims her husband’s death was due to a critical error on his part.

Jonathan eagerly agrees to represent Kierra, confident that he could win her case with some strategic thinking outside the box. Meanwhile, Jonathan is looking for a live-in nanny after being awarded sole custody of his children, and Kierra fits the bill. Kierra moves into Jonathan’s home with her daughter and helps wrangle his three rambunctious children.

It doesn’t take long for Jonathan and Kierra to seek refuge in each other when they discover how caring and nurturing they are despite Jonathan’s failed marriage and Kierra’s grief.

The sexual chemistry between the two is explosive, leading to many instances of bedroom swapping and quiet lovemaking in the middle of the night to avoid waking the children.

As their family blends, it’s becoming more apparent that Kierra and Kiyah belong with the Bakers; however, when the threats start rolling in, and Eliza’s behavior becomes more erratic and alarming, Jonathan will have to do whatever he can to protect his new family.

"The Widowed Nanny" is Book Two of the Nanny Series. The book will contain heavy topics that are suitable for readers 18+. Topics include but aren't limited Mourning and grief pertaining to losing a spouse, mourning and grief experienced by a child, OTT baby mother drama, GRAPHIC detailed sex scenes, BDSM, attention seeking and threats of suicide, unintentional suicide, and foul language.

A. N. Boyden began her writing journey in 2018 as an escape from the pressures and demands of a high-stress social services job. She never expected her nearly illegible scratching to turn into not only a passion but a career three years later. A. N. Boyden's humble beginnings began on Wattpad, where "Spouse Swap" was born. She gained thousands of adoring and supportive followers who gave her the confidence and boost she needed to finally self-publish.

A. N. Boyden's niche is interracial romances and thrillers that feature an abundance of steamy scenes, drama, and countless laughs. The majority of A. N. Boyden's female characters are strong Black women who reside in the great state of Texas, just like her. She sometimes refers to herself as a "one-woman" show, but frequently finds herself pitching her storylines to her husband, who is her number one fan.

ARC Book Review: The Widowed Nanny by

Genre: Romance

Tropes: Single Parent Romance, Nanny Romance, Love After Loss Romance, Widowed Parent, Forced Promixity, Blended Family

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Spice Level: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ (some of the scenes made me blush) - The hotel scene should be in the dictionary for one of the definition of SMUT.

Available: Amazon, Kindle Unlimited, Kindle Vella

Favorite Quote: ““What’s your safe word?” “Why do I need a safe word?” “Because I’m about to fuck you up.” I beg your pardon?!”

I have to start with saying being able to review this book as an ARC reader was a great honor. I have read stories by both of the authors since 2019 starting on Wattpad. I am so proud of both of them.

Now, let’s get to my review of this story. Whew, Child!!!!! In the world of sequels, this story is top-tier. The story is an absolute gem that captured my heart from the very first page. This book is not just a romance; it's a poignant tale of healing, resilience, and the power of love to mend even the deepest wounds.

The chemistry between Keirra (FMC) and Jonathan (MMC) is otherworldly and instant. It is not forced or unrealistic. As the story progress, both characters begin to heal their broken hearts and shows the other person what real love and care is.

My favorite parts of the story are:

- Kierra’s obession with British mystery shows and metal music.
- Jonathan decorating Kiyah’s bedroom to make her special.
- Kierra taking care of Jonathan and letting him that men need self-care too.
- The hotel scene. This scene was 🔥🔥🥵🥵🔥🔥
- Daisy and Nora constantly fighting.
- Grant taking care and defending Kiyah. (Spoilers for the story “The Desired Nanny”)

Ok… so I first read this book as a kindle Vella and was blessed to be an ARC reader. I love this book. The widowed Nanny had the perfect amount of drama, love, sex and usual antics of children. Nothing was far fetched some scenes had me reaching for my best friend rose… cause the “what’s your safe word” and the ties stuffed in the mouth had a girl squirming in her sheets! Whew!!! Baby I’m looking for the sequel or something!

The heart wants what the heart wants!

Kiera Houston had seen sixteen lawyers and no one would take her case. It was something in the eyes of Jonathan Baker, Esq's picture on his business card that told her he would help her. Jonathan felt drawn to Kiera and Kiyah with his need to help them. But he needed help too and was actively looking for a nanny for his three kids and Kiera needed a job. The live-in nanny position was perfect as the Baker kids and Kiyah got along well. They turned out to be the perfect blended family and Jon treated Kiyah like one of his own.

Jonathan had excellent support and with his best friend Anthony and his fiance Simone. They were there for each other in their times of need. I love how that support extended to Kiera when she needed advice from Anthony on how to deal with widowed life and moving on with someone else. Jon gave Kiera plenty of space and support in dealing with her loss. Their falling in love with each other brought about a myriad of situations they needed to deal with from the children to Jon's crazy ex-wife. Jon was so tired of Elizah's antics that he found himself crossing a line so he could have a life with Kiera.

The Baker household was a typical blended family with four and sometimes five children to deal with. They were so funny. Daisy and Nori tickled me. Their interaction with each other kept me laughing. I love how the author wrote this story. She took a very heart-wrenching situation and turned it into an opportunity for an HEA with some comic relief sprinkled throughout. it just goes to show that mourning doesn't last always. You can still respectfully remember a loved one and move on with your life without feeling guilty.

DISCLOSURE: I was provided an ARC copy of “The Widowed Nanny” by the author. I was not paid nor required to write a positive review and the opinions I have expressed are my own.

From start to finish, the second installment of the Nanny Series had me completely engrossed! It immerses readers in the life of the hero Jonathan, a divorced personal injury lawyer with three young children and the best friend of Anthony, the protagonist from book 1. Alongside Johnathan is the heroine Kierra, a recent widow with a young daughter, whose path becomes intertwined with his in unexpected ways. Jonathan and Kierra’s chemistry is intense and passionate, evoking a range of emotions from laughter to tears.

The characters in this series are meticulously developed, compelling me to eagerly press on with my reading. As someone who has enjoyed multiple books by this author, I can say she consistently delivers. I highly recommend it! The seamless inclusion of characters from the previous book in this sequel resolves any lingering questions about Jonathan’s backstory. Kierra’s journey of grieving and self-discovery is depicted with sensitivity. The children (Grant, Casey, Daisy); who are Jonathan’s children and Kiyah (Kierra’s daughter) bring a charming blend of humor and authenticity; which would not be complete without little Nori (Anthony and Simone’s young daughter). Get ready to be moved, entertained, and fully immersed in their captivating story.

1. Jonathan and Kierra hadn’t even kissed yet and he whipped out rope to tie her up and gag her and asked for her safe word. What happened to discussing kink beforehand to make sure both parties are actually into the same thing?
2. I didn't like Kierra at all. I think the author was trying to make her sound strong but she just ended up sounding crude and ghetto.
3. I don't have a problem with explict $ex but the $ex scenes in this book were crude and nasty; the way that Jonathan was always spitting on Kierra made me throw up in my mouth a little. 🤮
4. Jonathan was so completely beta and we're supposed to believe that he's dominant in bed? Yeah, I don't think so.
5. Did Jonathan and Kierra even understand the concept of birth control?
6. Those children needed some serious discipline.

This review is from reading an advanced copy, and thank you for the opportunity! My favorite thing about this book is that the people act the way you wish people acted in real life. They each have different personalities, different strengths and flaws, but they are all basically decent people who have basic communication skills, empathy, and strength of character. SPOILERS................................................................................................... Kierra has struggled with depression since the accidental death of her blue- collar husband Rory. He was a wonderful husband and father, and she and her daughter miss him terribly. Caring for their small child has given her purpose to rise above the grief and find a way to hold Rory's company accountable for his death. This is how she meets Jon, an accident- injury lawyer. Jon mentions that he needs a nanny and proposes that Kierra and her daughter live with his family for a trial period, giving them the stability that they all desperately need. It's obvious from the very beginning that despite Kierra's grief and Jon's wariness from his previous marriage that they are both very attracted to each other. Jon is a great character! He is a fierce advocate for his clients, a loving father to his children, and a sensitive, but strong partner for Kierra and her child. Each of his children have their own personalities, and his neighbor/ friends Anthony and Simone bring their child into the mix, which makes for fun and challenging times, as anyone knows who spends time around small children. John and Anthony are both white, and Simone and Kierra are both Black, and the reality of being a mixed couple is addressed in the rudeness of their other neighbors,as well as the prejudice of Jon's ex-wife Eliza. Kierra is a strong, compassionate but tough woman who sets firm boundaries with his ex. Jon spoiled Eliza as a wife and enabled her bad behavior even after the divorce, worrying that his children will judge him later if he treats her harshly. But Eliza is a nightmare ex-wife, a narcissist who only sees her children as weapons of manipulation. This impacts her oldest child the most, that is not swept under the rug. Eliza also makes life for the couple hellish, bashing in Jon's car, showing up unannounced at the house and filing false claims of abuse against Kierra. The strength of Jon and Kierra shows in how they handle the real-life problems of a mentally ill ex ( who wont get treatment), blending families, parenting styles, dealing with grief, friends, parents, holidays, accidents and their own - new - romance. Their sex scenes are explicit, kinky, bondage- dom sub ( lite ) and loving. Conversations are often serious and thought-provoking as well as funny and snarky. Family dinners are chaotic and funny. Serious matters- such Kierra and her daughter missing Rory, Jon's eldest missing his mother, estranged parents - are handled with sensitivity and grace. As for Eliza? Her comeuppance will be controversial for some readers. I personally had no problem with it - "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the one ( dangerous ex ) ". I look forward to reading more books from this author!

This book will leave you Satisfied and Jonesing for the next in the series

No lie This is a Must Read that you do not want to miss. There was not one thing about this book I didn’t love. This story had it all; Emotions dealing with loss/grief, mental health issues, new love, comic relief, character development, hot 🥵 sex scenes, family dynamics, and HEAFN.

This is book 2 of the Nanny Series and even though I had previously read the Surrogate Nanny you will not be lost at all if you do not read the first book (the first one was a good book & the second book definitely builds on the family bonds between the 2 families). The MMC Jonathan is a successful public injury attorney with 3 young children and our FMC Kierra is recently widowed with a small young child. Without giving to much away, these 2 people are brought together at a time when both characters are grieving as a result of dramatic life changes and trying to do what is best for their families to heal and thrive.

Jonathan and Kierra have apparent chemistry on day one. They are both good people who have had the worst in life hit them all at once. Their love story involves navigating the past and present. The bright spot in their lives is that fate has brought them together and they are able to find support and solace (and later love & family) in one another.

This is a true steamy love story worth savoring. However, Family is not neglected as a vital part in the author crafting this story. The supporting characters ping on all cylinders and the children are so represented that nothing is left missing. We never feel that the children are left unheard or take a back seat when such heavy topics and sudden change hits them all. In addition, The author does a great job working in Easter eggs of the children’s personalities and setting up some main interactions and relationships that you know will resurface in their adulthoods. Can’t wait for more from this author and this series.

This will definitely be a story I will be able to read again and again and enjoy it because I will experience all the emotions from sorrow, empathy, laughter, joy, and love because the author did such a great job making the characters real and relatable.

I received this book from A N Boyden Arc Team and I am leaving my honest opinion.

The author is truly gifted because she had me caring about these characters from page 1 as if I knew them in real life.

It helped that I already knew the MMC Jonathan from his appearance as the best friend/attorney in book 1 "The Surrogate Nanny," but ultimately I don't think it would've made a huge difference because this book stands on its own.

The main reason is because Jon and FMC Kierra have major chemistry that catapults this story to another level.
yes, Yes, YES! The sex scenes are SO FREAKIN' HOT, but what makes this book extraordinary (in addition to the romance) was the quality character development, the detailed backstories, and the on point, real talk DIALOGUE (the words, oh the words!) of not only the leads, but also of the supporting cast.

All of the kids are a riot and almost steal this book from the adults TBH (and that's due to their realistic dialogue, their adorable character traits, and their heartwarming and heartbreaking) interactions with Jon and/or Kierra).

Jon's parents Marcus & Felicity are written wth such clarity and humor that they seem to leap from the page to appear before you when they make their debut in the story.

And I ended up liking Anthony (the MMC from "The Surrogate Nanny") way more in this book than I did in his own story! I don't know...for some reason he just has more swagger since he locked Simone down...whatever it is, it comes through loud and clear from the pages, and he ends up being my favorite character (with Daisy & Nori running a super close 2nd).

But make no mistake, this book is Jon & Kierra's story, and they are front and center for all of the fun, the hilarity, the drama, and the intrigue. It was a real treat to read this book and watch Jon & Kierra navigate their attraction to one another, support each other as parents and friends, and fall in bed and in love.

Please take my advice and savor this book like your most favorite dessert in the world...don't rush through it like you're eating a melting ice cream cone on a hot summer's day. Instead find some place that's nice and quiet where no one will bother you for a few hours, get comfortable, and dig in. I know for sure I'll be reading Jon & Kierra's story again, back once more for another slice!

A. N. Boyden continues her delectable nanny series with her latest entry The Widowed Nanny. This story follows Jonathan Baker and Kierra Houston as they navigate single parenthood, love after loss and issues related to blended families. Jonathan was featured prominently in The Surrogate Nanny as Anthony’s best friend and attorney. He is portrayed as a nice guy with ethics and a giving nature. These wonderful attributes are on display when he encounters his most recent client, Kierra Houston. Kierra is a young widow with a child, she has lost her husband in a work-related accident. Jonathan is perhaps her final resource to gain justice for Rory! While it is obvious from their initial meeting that Jonathan and Kierra have amazing chemistry, the optics of their current situations “scream” that they should proceed with caution. Jonathan is embroiled in a custody dispute with his unstable ex-wife while Kierra is still mourning the loss of her husband. In the amazingly capable hands of Ms. Boyden, we embark on a journey of laughter, passion, found family, and the regenerative power of love. She always layers her stories with surprises and unexpected character development arcs; I was intrigued to see that Jonathan sometimes steps outside of the box. In addition, Readers were able to catch up with Anthony and Simone, one of my all time favorite couples….Anthony is still a mess!! The children of both couples were well written and engaging; especially Grant and Kiyah; they were as finely detailed as the adults, so much so that I kept thinking that they should have their own story! I absolutely enjoyed this intensely loving and well-crafted offering and totally look forward to the next one in the series.

Loved Jonathan and Kierra❤❤❤

I cackled and screamed a couple times laughing so hard...Anthony even grew on me a little bit. Didn't get anything done today because I started and didn't stop until I read the whole thing. I really loved Jonathan as the FMC, he was a sweetheart that had been thru some things and had his own insecurities, even as a the rich white man that grew up with a silver spoon. He was all the things you love in a book bf- rich, generous, protective, loving, intelligent, had good morals, loved his kids, and "a gentleman in the streetz, freak in the sheets." Loved seeing the realistic storyline of grief, divorce, narchy exs, how children dealt with all the life challenge . Kierra and Kiyah were a package deal that Jon and his boys took in with. Jon allowed and supported Sierra and her daughter thru their grief with patience and care. Glad we got to see the edgy/darker side of Jon...so he didn't come off as perfect. Adored how they grew and evolved in their complicated dynamics, even though some of the grief storyline felt repetitive and excessive at time. Enjoyed the BDSM element, Jon was a total surprise, freaky freaky😜 that we didn't expect.. Anthony was lucky Simone didn't go out with Jon (iykyk)😏. I even enjoyed Kierra catering to Jon, he deserved it. Often good men are hard to find and they don't get pampered...but they appreciate it irl when they get it😉. I really adored their story, well written, good character development and good length to give good twists and turn, spicy scenes and love with romance. Haven't read a really good boom in a while and this gave all the feels, a few tears, laughter, and smiles too!

Not gonna lie, this book had me in tears more than once! I really felt everything the author wrote and don't appreciate how she was messing with my feelings like that most of this book!

This took me 2 days to finish because I just had to know what happened next. All in all I laughed, I cried, I cussed the characters out, and fell in love with others.

Loved Kierra and Jons relationship! We love a nerd in the streets but a daddy Dom in the sheets!! Not to mention the thoughtfulness each showed another. The love and respect on both sides, is enough to make you jealous it isn't you & your man!

There is no perfect way to grieve or help someone who is, and I think the author bridged that gap nicely. Patience and understanding with extra love for another. Kierra gave Jonathan the validation he needed that he was appreciated and loved. Jon had patience and understanding of her situation with mindfulness on how to handle her and Kiyah during this difficult time.

I found the kids personalities to be hilarious! I really gotta know what's up with the little girls being WWE stars! lol
I loved how the 1st books characters had their roll & a small continuation of their story as well.

I Will be re reading this soon, as I usually do with A.N. Boyden books. I love reading the things her mind conjures up!

But Can I just say I hope and pray the kids have their own spin off teen/ adult saga! They deserve it!!

This book was great. It had almost everything I was looking forward to reading from following the series so closely on KindleVella.

The reason for the 4 stars (which should really be 4.5, but I couldn't figure out how to do that) is while this book left you wanting more, which is an amazing thing. It also left you needing more, as it felt a little incomplete. I will admit that I went into this book thinking about and comparing it to the Vella version. I would absolutely admit that the Vella version of this book did contain a climatic conflict that felt out of place, but the resolution to it felt like a natural fit. I did wonder how Boyden would fit that ill-timed conflict in the official version, and while I am happy she removed it, I must admit I am a little disheartened to see that it hadn't been replaced by a more naturally flowing conflict.

However, a beautiful job was done of allowing you to focus on the individual conflicts of each character. Boyden has done a great job of connecting her characters from book 1 and integrating them into book 2. If you were anything like me, the first book left you craving to know the secrets of the man known as Jonathan, you can now consider them mostly known. Kierra is a beautiful woman who is faced with the ever evolving battle of "to be or not to be," and as the reader, you would think the battle was your own.

I could rave all day about the children in this woven tale. The kids are the perfect comic relief. There are moments where you will relate more with their behaviors (especially if you know sibling dynamics) than with the adult response to their behavior. You mourn when they mourn, laugh when they laugh, and then laugh some more.

Over all the dialog, the character development, the struggles, the triumphs, the love, the laughter, and tears are true to the reader experience.

This book is so heartfelt. I think the grief was handled really well and I think Jonathan keeping Rory’s spirit and love alive was beautiful. He was never jealous or angry or disappointed in Kierra or Kiyah for how they handled their loss. I know some people will say it’s too soon for them to be together. BUT how do you fall in love with Jonathan? How do you not fall in love with Kierra? Anyone living or fictional would be so lucky to find what they have.
The friendship, sisterhood, brotherhood, and family were so well executed. It was probable how much they loved, and cared for each other, and how much they would do for each other. they are genuine, friends and family and it was nice to see them talk about any and everything together. They were all such good people. And very entertaining.
Also, I absolutely loved Jonathan’s client on the very last page of the book. That was a surprise I lived for.
Lastly, One thing that is often overlooked or lacking, in a romance story that involves people with children is realistic, relatable, children, and parenting. I fell in love with each and every child. they’re all so adorable John and Kierra are lucky to have such adorable kids. And Simone and Anthony’s daughter is just as adorable. The children also had realistic, thoughts and feelings. And when I have children in the future, I hope your parent exactly like Kierra and Jonathan. Mostly Kierra lol.

this one was my target! I love books with families dynamics, all the kids having actual personality! They're the highlight of the book, specially Daisy and Nori!! So three stars.

Although it's a bit weird the whole thing with Grant and Keiya (or wtv was her name) ... but I'm going to read book 3 so I can keep seeing Daisy and Nori fighting

One of the flaws in this book is how descriptive it is, I could skip full paragraph and I wouldn't miss a thing which is a problem! Another flaw is lack of actual time going by, the writer had the power to put some years between the husband death and Kiera meeting Jon, but they meet 6 months after and she was/is in a deep depression state so we get lots cries over random things which could have been done way better.
Simone and Anthony know each other for almost two years, it's believable when they eventually end in each others arms. But Kierra and Jon? Weeks with one in mourn, with a kid and a new job dealing with more kids and the other with lots of work, a crazy ex wife and three kids! I don't even understand how they found time

Making a book very descriptive but still not explaining so many things it's crazy in my opinion.

I saw a lot of people speaking about the sex scenes, didn't even read it

This is the love of story of Jonathan Baker and Kierra Houston. This is a story of two hurt people who help each other heal. They are both experiencing difficult and challenging times in their lives. They enter into a mutually beneficial work relationship that blossoms into love. Jonathan needs TLC, lucky for him Kierra is not afraid to share her love. The author crafted a beautiful love story between Jonathan & Kierra but also included their children. One of my favorite scenes in the story, is Thanksgiving dinner. The speeches about what they are thankful for, were beautiful and heartwarming. The family was able to navigate difficult situations and remain strong. Blending families is not easy but they were able to navigate the difficult times because of honesty, communication and mutual respect. They couple also had help and support from their friends and families. Simone and Anthony (from The Surrogate Nanny) offer support and advice to Jonathan and Kierra when it's necessary. The story is engaging from beginning to end. I look forward to reading about the next generation in The Desired Nanny. I highly recommend this story. This will definitely be on my re-read list.

I loved this! We knew from book one that Jonathan was a sweet soul and a protector so I’m so glad he got his own story.

I loved him and Kierra together. They were both there for each other in the best way and formed a very quick but strong connection. The way they got on with each other’s kids though was especially precious.

My heart broke for Kierra and Kiyah over their grief but I think it was handled in a really great way. There were a lot of really powerful moments in this book that had me tearing up multiple times.

The baby mama drama was wild and I was kind of shocked at how it ended. I wish we had seen more from Grant on how he was handling it but I can understand why he wasn’t the focus.

The very last line of the epilogue had me spitting out the drink I’d just taken a sip of 🤣🤣 I wasn’t expecting it at all but it nicely wrapped up one of the sub-plots and had me cackling.

Overall this was an adorable fast-burn with a beautiful found family and some powerfully emotional scenes. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this author!

It is possibly my favorite A.N. Boyden book thus far! I recommend this read if you like well-rounded characters, realistic character development, and spicy romance. I received an advanced copy that I could not put down. There wasn't a single moment of this love story that I didn't want to be a part of. This was my first introduction to the trilogy and honestly, I felt like it did a fantastic job of giving me just enough detail to not be out of the loop, but not so much that I wouldn't have to go back and read book one, which I WILL.

Pros of reading this book:
- You will believe in love again
- Written representation of a healthy, communicative (for the most part -_-) relationship
- Loss, grief, new love, friendships, and family... This book is an all-arounder.
- The smut is SMUTTING
- There are no bad characters, the ones you hate serve their purpose, but there are no moments that are out of character

Cons
- I need more book to read

Feels

I have a lot of feelings about this one. My overall view is that I enjoyed it and I loved it…

The relationships between the main characters was heartwarming and wholesome (the majority of the time), the relationship when it came to the kids endearing.

The topic of grief, loss, and the journey through it is, for the most part, foreign to me, especially when it comes to losing a loved one (parent, spouse, child), I’ve been fortunate in that. However the author did a really good job at navigating that for me as a reader with little experience in that area. She made me feel the loss, the gain, and the journey.

I did notice a TW/CW list at the beginning of the book which was great as this book does touch in some very graphic topics.

4 stars because while I did love this book I felt some parts were rushed a smidge and it took me out of the story.

On another note:
THE NEXT BOOK IS NOT OUT YET AND I AM GONNA LOSE IT!

Worth Waiting For!!

Dammit A.N did it again. Amazing I Ioved how close the Powells & Baker are. Jonathan is definitely that hot super undercover nerdy freak we all love. Simone was the truth, the way she 2 pieced Eliza.....CLASSIC!! The subject of grief was handled and written beautifully, I loved that Simone & Kiyah were given the space to grieve in their own way & time with Jonathan right in full support mode & with some great advice from Anthony. Mr. Baker that's my dude he's funny and plays no games. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 Well done Mz. Boyden WELL FREAKING DONE!! Oh and I definitely picked up on the Easter eggs as for as Grant & Kiyah that is going to be a hell of a story I'm sure.

You will laugh, cry, fall in love with this book

Jonathan story was better than 1st. This one was great all the way through could not put it down. The love story, the blending of families , baby mama drama, friendship between Jonathan and Anthony was really endearing and heartfelt as well as the growing relationship with thier women. The frenenemies Daisy and Nori and the battles between two was Hilarious. We got introduced to Jonathan's parents Marcus and Felecity and they both were a hoot. Dang, these storyteller's are gifted and write a story to entertain from beginning to end. My only issue, I have to wait until August for the bet series and I have read damn near every book I can get my hand on. You will not regret regret reading and following author.

ARC Review

I'm a big fan of A.N. Boyden's books and eagerly await her next release, but this one was just okay for me. I sometimes struggled to stay engaged. I'm a big fan of descriptive writing, and I love it when authors paint a full picture of the scene and people - it feels like I stepped into their world. Otherwise, it can feel monotonous to read with continuous dialogue and vague descriptions. This book wasn't as descriptive as I'd prefer, but some readers may like that. I did enjoy this one more than the first book. I was the most engaged when Jonathan looked into Rory's death, loved Nori and Daisy's legendary beef, and found Anthony hilarious. Overall, it was a decent book with developed characters and a good storyline, but I just couldn't get into the story.

loved it..give me more

This book surpassed the first in ways I didn’t anticipate, adding a subtle dominance that I didn’t know I needed. It was executed with just the right amount of finesse, leaving me wanting more. Jonathan’s touch of “nerd boy” charm was a nice addition, though I wish it had been explored further. What I truly appreciated was how the themes of loss and grief were woven throughout the story. I also loved the dynamic between the four adults, how they could lean on each other through their experiences. The friendship between Daisy and Noris as toddlers was especially heartwarming, keeping me engaged. I’d love to see a future story focusing on those two characters!

Kiera is widowed mom close to a break down and Jon is a divorced full-time father not used to love. Although, Kiera and Jon meet under unusual circumstances; they soon realize they will both need the help of each other to heal. I enjoyed how Kiera was willing to show Jon something he never experienced in a partner and how Jon fought hard for those he loved. This book was a great experience, it was not your typical trope and it wasn’t all glitter and roses; I appreciated the author developing characters dealing with real life experiences. I received this book as an ARC but highly recommend.

Jon Baker (a divorcee) and Kierra Houston (a widow) were dealt a blow by life. Kierra wanted justice for her late husband and Jon agreed to do her case. Jon had his hands full with his former wife. Despite these challenges, life was good. Kiyah, Kierra's daughter was very funny, but Daisy and Nori took the cake, they had me in stitches with their never-ending fights (and Anthony from Book 1 was so invested these fights). The sex scenes were hot, there were sad moments for Kierra and Kiyah on their way to healing whilst Jon just needed someone to love him. He found that someone in Kierra. This series is definitely worth reading.

I can't wait for Grant and Kiyah's book.

Unexpected

This book is fire. The love they have for each other and how they connect emotionally is what I desire. This book will have you all over the place. The humor, (that near WWF move has me floored laughing), the emotional high and low, the breeding kink and so much more.
But what drew me for a curve was how the ex wife was handled. It is always the ones people think they can manipulate that have a dark side. And boy was it dark.
I'm so looking forward to the next book. This series is going from light to dark and I'm here for all 3.

This book was amazingly crazy from start to finish and I enjoyed every minute of it even when I was pissed off at that Eliza thing lady person whoever you wanna call her. When I tell you, Jonathan and Kierra are something else! They had me clutching my invisible pearls because when I tell you, the spicy scenes were SPICY! And the children were a riot when they were ready especially Daisy and Nori…a hot mess together lol. I definitely recommend this book to read…immediately and over and over again and I’m not one to read a lot of books more than once, but this one I definitely can.

This book took me on such a journey. I loved the relationship between Kiara and Jonathan. His respect for everything she went through melted me. And the family scenes with Anthony, daisy and nori fights was hilarious. I loved how this book showed both sides of blending a family and the emotional aspect of it all. And in the bedroom Jonathan was NASTEEE!! lol I really enjoyed this book and every book the author had ever written

This story was a great read. It shows the process of finding love while navigating grief, and lightly touches on class differences and preconceived racial stereotypes.

I love that this book shows the progression of a true and unrelenting love, despite difficult external circumstances. I couldn’t put this book down and read it in one sitting. Author Boyden, you did a great job as always and I can’t wait to see what your next work entails.

This is a perfect extension of the nanny series. A N Boyden has become one of my favorite authors since I read Mail Order Groom. Her stories have layers and they have laugh out loud dialogue. I love them. This book…she wasn’t playing! And I have serious concerns about frenemies Daisy and Nori. Their interactions were hilarious. Jonathan and Kierra have a beautiful love story. It’s one I aspire to. Another great job A N Boyden!
