5 star Review Caught From Behind (Sierra Hockey #2) by Elise Faber

From the first chapter Ms. Faber wove a story that captured and kept me invested.

This is Ella Alder and Riggs Ashford’s story and it was well written and entertaining.

Both have feelings for one another and yet neither are prepared to cross the line, until they do. Caught From Behind was an emotional story that got to me on a number of levels.

It was entertaining to watch the push and pull dynamic as their relationship progressed.

I enjoyed this book, it gave me numerous feels and I am excited to see what Ms. Faber has in store for the series.

Ella Alder considers herself a matchmaker, one that may or may not also be trying to drown her sorrow and her past in alcohol. Being abandoned by their father has not been easy on the Alder siblings and it doesn’t help when Ella sees him in town with his “new” family. She doesn’t want to take the chance on love at all, especially with someone like Riggs. But when he tells her some secrets, she realizes she isn’t the only one with problems. Will she be able to work through them all and learn to trust again? Or will she just throw this perfect man for her away?

Riggs Ashford is this man of solid muscle who can skate circles around others on the ice but when it comes to his mind its running in circles itself. From a certain event that has happened in the past, to a father that keeps belittling him, to the fact he has a crush on his teammate’s sister. When the teammate, Knox, suggests Riggs looks after his sister, he jumps at the chance. What he wasn’t expecting was for her not only to touch his heart and mind but also help build bridges with other people in his life. Now he must help her get her life together as much as she has helped him. The problem is she isn’t always willing to talk about it. If only he can convince her that he is going to be there through it all.

This is a steamy, hard to read book. Parts of this book are not for the faint of heart. There are some very touchy subjects that she mentions so you do need to go into it with an open mind. But once you do, this book captures your attention, holds on to it tight, builds you up and then won’t let it go until you have finished it. Hmm sounds like something else that can happen in your life. The connection between the two of them is instant and you can feel it through the pages. Elise Faber took these 2 characters of hot mess and turned it into a scorcher novel. This is part of the Sierra Hockey series, but the great thing about Elise’s books is you don’t have to read them in order. Add this one to your never ending TBR list.

Emotional journey of understand, trust, and love

If you love emotional hockey romances, then this is the one for you. Elise Faber's CAUGHT FROM BEHIND, book #2 in the Sierra Hockey series, is a wonderful story which delivers laughter, tears, anger, and plenty of sighs.

Ella Alder is a hairdresser who loves to play matchmaker. She's also a party girl who drinks to drown out issues from her past which still affect her. Riggs Ashford plays professional hockey for Sierra, he's quiet off the ice as he struggles with his past and his relationship with his father. Both have feelings for each other yet neither has made a move, until Knox, Ella's brother, and Riggs's teammate, suggests he would be good for her.

Ella and Riggs's pasts weigh heavy on them. Ella has unresolved issues with her father, while Riggs has an event that affected him deeply and also suffers from the amount of pressure his father puts on him. Until they resolve these issues their lives will be forever weighed down by them. Once they begin to slowly move forward, Ella and Riggs share their pasts and it is truly heartbreaking. I loved that their relationship evolved at a steady pace, it allowed for a real friendship to develop. I enjoyed the support, encouragement, understanding, and love they gave each other.

CAUGHT FROM BEHIND was an emotional journey, one of connection and deep understanding. I loved that there was the learning of trust, ability to forgive, and the chance to take a leap of faith into love. A heartwarming read with wonderful characters. I can't wait for more of this series.

Ella has had a thing for her brother’s friend & teammate, Riggs, since she met him. Riggs has been equally attracted to her, but he has an issue with how much she drinks and has shut her down twice now after things start to get steamy. Riggs has some unresolved trauma associated with drinking that Ella unintentionally stirs up, until he finally shares his inner torment. Ella has sed alcohol to numb herself to some deep emotional pain and to be more her true self - outgoing and happy. Some tough conversations and a willingness to be vulnerable with each other helps to get these two on the path to a strong relationship.

Both of these characters have to overcome some difficult situations with their respective dads. Neither of their dads are pleasant, but one is willing to change and make and effort to repair their relationship. I enjoyed seeing Ella and Riggs both mature and grow as characters over the course of this book. The Sierra hockey series is definitely growing on me and the characters are more appealing after having read a couple books in this world. After reading so many books in Elise Faber’s other series it took a little bit to adjust to this different dynamic.

The Sierra aren’t a found family like the Gold, but I look forward to seeing more of these characters and getting to know them in future books.

I received a free ARC from the author and 1852 Media; and I am voluntarily leaving an unbiased review.

You want that one man that you know you can't have because he is your brother's teammate and friend but that didn't stop Ella Adler. Caught From Behind is an emotional, brother's teammate, forbidden, engaging and entertaining romance that pulls your heartstrings.
Ella and Riggs's story was a joy to read and a page-turner right from the start. Ella is a hairdresser and loves to play matchmaker. Riggs is a professional hockey player who is struggling with his relationship with his dad. The two of them have had feelings for one another but they each have a past that is interfering with their present. Each of them has walls around their hearts. When Knox, her brother pushes Riggs to date her, he doesn't think twice and Ella makes the moves as well. There is, however, one thing holding him back and he knows he needs to find a way to tell her why he turns her down. Pasts are shared and it breaks your heart when you hear what each of them went through. Healing is a process and the two of them find that with one another. Trust is formed, sparks ignite and feelings are finally shared. To see how the two of them supported one another was sweet and heartwarming. They are made for one another.
I'm excited to see what Ms. Faber has in store for us with the next installment in the Sierra Hockey series.

Sierra Hockey #2

Riggs Ashford and Ella Adler have danced around each other since they met. Her brother is his teammate so he's always just watched out for her and kept his distance until Knox gave his blessing.

Ella is a hairdresser and loves to play matchmaker. She drinks a alot to cover the hurt she's gone through growing up and the thought that every guy leaves her. Riggs has turned her down each time due to her drinking and that's from past trauma of his own.
"You know why I like to play matchmaker? Because happy endings may not be for me, but I can make sure that the people I care about have them."

Riggs and Ella both have issues involving their dads which impacts their relationship. They have their walls up, but slowly are learning to trust each other.

This is such an emotional story. Both have issues from growing up and always kept it bottled up until they got together. "I see you" "I hear you" Trust!
Loved Riggs! The side characters Kit, Donna, Nova and his teammates were great too.

Ella is a hairdresser, and Riggs is an ice hockey player for Sierra's team. They have an attraction to each other but keep it hidden as they are scared to have any relationships due to trauma from their childhood. Unfortunately for Ella, she drinks to hide her hurt, which triggers Riggs from a past traumatic memory. But when Ella learns what happened to Riggs when he reveals to her why her drinking triggers him. She lets him know it wasn't his fault when she finds out why it triggers him and that he shouldn't punish himself for it. Ella's brother pushes Riggs to look out for Ella since he can see what they can't. Both have fathers who trigger them, and Riggs may have a chance, but there is no hope for Ella. Will Riggs and Ella be able to get over their past, move forward, and get their HEA?
I received an arc for my voluntary honest review for NN Book Blog. If you love an ice hockey romance with some angst, you will enjoy this read. The ending in this book leads us into Knox and Ivy's story in the next book. I can't wait to see how their story goes.

As Riggs would say, "Tell me something I don’t know?” You won’t know how good it is until you dive in.

Elise Faber is fast becoming one of my favorite hockey romance authors of all time, and with the second book in the Sierra Hockey series, *Caught From Behind*, she has cemented this series as a must-read of 2024. Masterfully, as always, Ms Faber draws on all the emotions (be prepared to shed a tear or two), all the heat, and all the toe-tingling passion. Add in some great team banter and two exceptional main characters, and you have a winning hockey romance.

I loved how this story's pages are like an intricate puzzle—one you can't stop putting together until the last piece is in place. Much like Riggs, who is piecing together the puzzle that makes up Ella, his best friend and teammates sister and the one he wants as his.

From page one, I was drawn to these two characters. As we peel back the layers of Ella and Riggs, you understand how right these two people are for each other. Riggs revealing a gut-wrenching secret makes you swoon a little bit more, and Ella’s own heartache touches something deep inside. Both having issues with their fathers cements their connection and ensures they remain in your heart. This story is brimming with depth; watch out for some special heartwarming moments and a perfect epilogue.

Caught From Behind is book 2 in the Sierra Hockey Series and this is Ella Alder and Riggs Ashford’s entertaining and at times emotional story.
Riggs and Ella have hidden their feelings well. Riggs deemed her off limits until her brother and his teammate Knox give’s his blessing. But that doesn’t mean he isn’t watching and protecting her from a distance.
Ella loves to play matchmaker because she is convinced she is not worthy of happiness but she will help those she cares about find theirs.
So will Riggs and Ella finally give into their feelings. One click to find out.
This couple have issues that stem from their childhoods and that makes them both feel love and happiness will never work so can two broken souls help mend each other. This is a journey about taking a leap of faith and learning to trust when the odds are against you, it’s a beautifully written love story with wonderful characters and it’s a great addition to the series. Loving this series and excited for what’s to come.

Finally Riggs is here and his and Ella's book was worth the wait its funny emotional and very serious both Ella's and Riggs have emotional trauma but Riggs refuses to give up on Ella..

Riggs wants one thing but hes afraid to go after it Ella his teammates sister but he gets the green light from Knox only one thing has him hesitant Ella drinks allot and it brings up all sorts of ugly things for him. Ella wants Riggs badly but he keeps turning her down but she puts on a brave face and tells herself it doesn't matter she dosen't need him anyway but she's just lying to herself her coping mechanism has gone on for
far to long if she wants to Riggs she has to face her fears. They both have family drama with and over achiever father who knows how to push Riggs buttons but the worst father of the year award goes to Ella's dad it's just sad. This isn't a light read it touches on some tuff issues and the Sierra hockey family is just getting started can't wait for Ivy and Knox story.

I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book and this is my honest review.

CAUGHT FROM BEHIND is the second book in the Sierra Hockey series and Ella and Riggs have been playing around each other for long enough. However, they have some upsets to clear up before they can get together - the biggest (at the time) being Ella's drinking. She has reasons for it, he has reasons he hates it. Add to that the fact they both have sh!tty dads and there's plenty here.

I enjoyed this story but it didn't grab me as much as some of this author's other works have. If I could give half stars, then this one would be a 3.5. If you're a hockey fan and love found families then I suggest you give it a go.

This second book in the Sierra Hockey series was a doozy. Riggs has had my attention, and the romance he had with Ella was so good.

Loved the brother's teammate trope, as well as the emotional toll this book put me through. Ella's heartache came through the pages perfectly. Rigg's relationship with his father was also emotional and a bit of a tug on the heartstrings. The relationship between Riggs and Ella though was everything. They both saw each other. They knew when the other was struggling or holding back. They were patient with each other, and stood together in the good and the bad.

Other things to note:
Todd-o-rama had me a bit nervous, but I found myself liking him at the end.
The friendships in this book are top notch.
Elise creates amazing characters and brings their stories to life in a spectacular fashion.

Definitely recommend Caught from Behind for my fellow hockey romance fans.

Worth the wait

I have been eagerly awaiting this book since I saw the tropes list announced. I got impatient waiting for my public library to pick it up and bought it on kindle instead. Let me tell you, it was WORTH IT.

Riggs is quiet and grouchy, focused on the game and his plays with the guys, but he’s secretly a big, protective teddy bear. Especially where Ella is concerned. They’ve both been through some intense pain and loss, they’ve both built walls to protect themselves from further pain, but they never had someone to watch their backs— until Ella’s brother Knox gave Riggs his blessing and suddenly Ella and Riggs’ protective instincts start to pay dividends.

I cannot adequately explain why this was literally almost the perfect book. Riggs and Ella certainly made the perfect team and couple against the world. I believe Knox’ story is next and I’m super looking forward to it. In the meantime I need to tackle Elise Faber’s backlist.

This book put me through the emotional wringer. I was cheering so hard for Ella & Riggs to get together, but both have issues from their pasts that seem to hold them back from taking the next step. Mainly this is from Rigg's perspective and once he reveals the reason why it totally makes sense. But once they have this difficult conversation, it's like the floodgates open and they both reveal what they have both gone through. This was both sad & beautiful to read. And to me, this is when their story really took off. These two are both perfectly imperfect and they match each other so well. It may have appeared an uphill battle for them to become a couple, but boy, what they ended up finding with each other was totally worth it. Brilliant storytelling from Elise & this is definitely a book that will stay with me for some time.

This second book in the Sierra Hockey series is just as good as the first, and reading this book was like settling in for a catch up with old friends. Riggs Ashford has always been attracted to his teammates sister, Ella Adler, but has done nothing because of her brother, Knox. Because of previous trauma, Ella feels unloved and tries to cover up her despair with alcohol, to make people love her more, and that is something that sends up red flags for Riggs. With much love and understanding between Riggs and Ella, the road they need to navigate is beautifully laid out in this story. Their journey is one of fun, sadness, trust and family dysfunction, but as always it is wonderfully wrapped up in an HEA.

The book is well written, the story flows and the characters have a depth that makes you want to be in their lives. Another winner!

Elise Faber gets a win with CAUGHT FROM BEHIND (Sierra Hockey #2). Sierra Hockey star, Riggs Ashford, gets the go ahead from his teammate, Knox Adler, to pursue his sister, Daniela (Ella).

I like that Elise Faber has Ella’s brother Knox encouraging Riggs to “handle” her. It is a refreshing twist on the best friend’s brother trope. Ella is best friends with Nova from OVER THE LINE (Sierra Hockey #1). I enjoyed both main characters. They have misunderstandings. As they get to know each other better, they discover their similarities, especially with their relationship with their fathers.

CAUGHT FROM BEHIND is a heartfelt and entertaining read. It is an excellent addition to the Sierra Hockey series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Wow! I absolutely loved this book. Amazing characters and wonderful plot. Very beautifully written and easy to read.

Riggs Ashford plays professional hockey for Sierra. He’s quiet and reserved. Ella Alder is a hairdresser. They have feelings for each other, but neither has made a move. Until Knox, Ella’s brother, and Riggs’s teammate suggests they would be good for each other. Ella and Riggs both have unresolved issues with their fathers. Once Riggs and Ella get to know each other better, they share their pasts. I loved their chemistry and passion between them. They were made for each other.

Overall I loved this book very much. If you’re looking for a teammates sister, hockey romance then you’re going to love it.

This is the second book in this series, and this is Riggs and Ella’s story.
Riggs is a pro hockey player, who is Ella’s brother’s teammate and friend, while she is a hairdresser who loves to play matchmaker. Ella has had a crush on Riggs for some time, not knowing he feels the same, but they have danced around each other, until her brother thinks they will be good together.
This is a well written story which is an easy to read, emotional roller coaster, with family, friendships, humor, witty banter, challenges, unresolved issues, romance, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, and sweet addictive page turner.
I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Riggs and Ella have been circling each other for quite some time, yet his protective instincts and troubled past prevent him from advancing their relationship. However, once her brother gives his approval, Riggs is determined to prove to Ella that she is the one for him and that he's here to stay.

Ella has long harbored feelings for the stern hockey player. Repeated rejections by him, have taken their toll, and just as she resolves to move on, he arrives, ready to win her over. Her past has left significant wounds, and while breaking down her defenses is challenging, Riggs recognizes her worth. As Ella realizes his commitment, nothing can hinder their path to a happy ending.

Ella has a difficult past which does not always allow her to deal with her emotions in the most effective ways. She has been attracted to Riggs, her brother’s teammate and friend, for a while but he doesn’t seem to return her feelings.

Between his past and the family drama that he is currently experiencing Riggs is cautious when it comes to Ella. The more he learns about the reasons for her actions the deeper he falls as they face both the challenges in their present and their past.

Even though there were some bumps along the way Ella and Riggs are so supportive of each other and it was wonderful to see two people who were unable to share their emotions to open up and realize that they could on the other to be there for them no matter what.

Ella has had a crush on her brother's hockey teammate for awhile. Riggs is grumpy and serious, focused. He's all business and has some personal conflicts that dog him. In the same way, Ella has done everything on her own with her brother because their father abandoned them. She feels this very deeply. Both main characters have some stuff to work through. What I love about this story is that an unlikely relationship blossomed. I feel that our MMC Riggs had the most change over the story. I fell in love with his gruff exterior, but his tenderness with Ella. Also, the spice is nice! Riggs is definitely the book boyfriend of the month. And this cover is to die for! I imagined Riggs just this way!

Riggs is focused on his NHL hockey career and trying to stay on top as long as possible. But he cannot help but crush on Ella, sister of his teammate and friend Knox. Ella is out-going and pretty and life of every party. But both of them are hiding traumatic issues from their past that continue to impact their lives. When they confess to each other, can they learn to trust each other enough to create something long-lasting?

I love the relationship between these two, especially how Ella handles Riggs’ grumpy father. They truly care for each other.

Riggs and Ella are perfect together and for each other. They see each other and love each other in spite of some baggage. Her pain comes through clear as day and his secret broke my heart. His dad is a piece of work. I never expected his reason for not liking her drinking to be what it was.

I loved how she supported him as soon as he told her. The friendships in this book are fantastic and highlight the importance of having people in your corner. He didn’t let her push him away, even though she tried.

I love Riggs and can’t wait to see what happens next in the series. I received an ARC and this is my honest, voluntary review.

Good and emotional read...
The first half of the book started really slow, and I had a hard time getting into it, was a little worried. But once you hit that second half, you get sucked in. This book had me teary a few times, and you just fall in love with the characters, not even just the main ones(here is looking at you Kit). There is chemistry and steam, but it isn't the main thing, there are so many deep feelings. This was a really good read, and I'm so glad I pushed through to the end.

I received an ARC of this book, all opinions and thoughts are my own.

I loved Riggs and Ella’s story! They were perfect for each other! Riggs and Ella have had feelings for each other, but Riggs has reservations about being with Ella because she’s his teammates sister. When her brother Knox gives him the go ahead Riggs won’t stop until he has her. They both have problems with their parents. Some fixable, some not. I love the way Ella handled Riggs’ dad. It was really amazing! Caught From Behind is an emotional read with amazing chemistry and an abundance of steam. I love the Sierra Hockey series! I can’t wait to get the next book!

There is definitely no denying Riggs and Ella have an attraction that runs deep and they both have issues with their father (much prefer Riggs's dad), but unlike the normal big brothers best friend, Knox sees things differently so one less thing for Riggs and Ella to worry about while they work through their feelings and vulnerabilities while getting to really know each other.
I think I need to go to ice hockey games so I can get a puck like Ella as well as be near the ice to cool down if I had someone like Riggs around as these two totally had me fanning my face through out this book!

Caught From Behind is a fantastic read. I loved this one. Riggs is a sweetheart and only has eyes for Ella. You get all the feels when it comes down to Ella and Riggs. Ella has a few issues and doesn't see what others see. I love how caring Riggs is and tries to give Ella a safe place. I love how Ella helps Riggs with his relationship with his dad. She is a sweetheart with baggage. But you understand why and love her for everything. I love how she stands up for herself. I love this series so much and cannot wait to see where Sierra Hockey goes next. Go check this out now.

I absolutely loved the journey that Ella and Riggs found themselves on in Caught from Behind, book two in the Sierra Hockey series. They both have had to deal with not so perfect fathers over the years but one has an opportunity to redeem their relationship and the other does not. What they did have in spades was chemistry and a connection, but what really bonded them together was when they allowed themselves to open up to one another and share their pain which helped them to actually understand and see one another down to their soul.

Elise faber did it again! This book was amazing!

I loved this book and the way it was both entertaining and at times emotional really solidified my opinion!

Ella definitely stole my heart! She helps others find love as she thinks she herself isn't worthy of happiness.

And Riggs! Oh my goodness. Elise is an amazing writer who definitely knows how to write a complex character!

I really liked this book and in my opinion it is well written and hooks you immediately!

I'd recommend this book to anyone looking for a hockey romance with emotional aspects and amazing characters!
