Neva, an ice sculptor, is desperate to pay off her family's debts and end their slavery to a powerful witch. When the witch offers her a tempting deal - steal the magic of winter in exchange for freedom - Neva seizes the opportunity.
But when she travels to the mountainside cottage where the magic is hidden, she does not find the grumpy old hermit she was promised. Instead, a handsome young woodsman, with pointed ears, is in his place.
Iyken is a loner. Years ago, he lost his family due to a promise he made in his youth. When Neva appears on his doorstep asking a favor, he immediately suspects her of nefarious intentions. In an attempt to get rid of her, and be chivalrous at the same time, he decides to escort her back to the village.
However, on their way down the mountain, a terrible accident sends them careening off the mountainside. Trapped in the valley, Neva and Iyken work together to survive the wild winter while accidentally falling in love.

Absolutely loved this book so much! Such an emotional, sweet, and beautiful story full of magic, stunningly described winter scenes and cozy towns, two complicated but wonderful MC’s I came to care deeply for, and just the most heartfelt love story—with 🔥 chemistry between Neva and Iyken. Ford is absolutely a new favorite author—her writing is vibrant and entirely engrossing; I was fully absorbed into the world of ‘A Wild Winter’s Warning’—and I’m really looking forward to reading more of her work. Highly recommend!
Overall, I liked this book. It's not my typical read. I try to stay away from stuff with graphic sexual descriptions, but Instagram knows me too well and uses my weaknesses against me. I love men with long white hair, interracial couples, and magical elves, and this book has all three!
The heart of A Wild Winter's Warning is a daughter's love for her parents. Our main character, Neva, is driven to meet her one true love, Ikyen by a promise of freedom. Neva and her parents are slaves to the powerful witch named Mab. Mab has promised to let the captors go free if Neva steals Ikyen's powerful magic and bring it back to her. Unfortunately, Ikyen is not the old, creepy hermit she thought him to be, but a very attractive young man with a few secrets of his own.
The story is told from both the point of view of Ikyen and Neva. I love, love, love this approach. The only problem I have with it is the tone and wording were very similar from both characters. I would love to have seen some more variance between the characters word choices, and language.
Also, the sexual scenes seemed to have a language all to their own. It was kind of like they were just copy and pasted from one story into this one. Again, I'm not too familiar with these things...so maybe that's how it's supposed to be? I was a big fan of the cuddled scenes. They were super cute.
"Time doesn't matter. Be it one day, or one hundred, or one thousand. My heart will always lead me back to you."
This one started out a lot slower, and I wasn't enjoying it as much as Natari and Eldon's story. But, halfway through, it picked up, and I fell head over heels for both Neva and Iyken! I love their story, too. It's different than Natari and Eldon's, but still just as magical and beautiful. Iyken was running away, and so was Neva. I didn't think they'd honestly figure it out. Saved everything until the last possible minute. I'm not going to lie, I cried. I just wanted them happy. I wanted Nevas parents safe. And it was only 15 pages left, and I didn't think it was going to happen. Or that she'd lose her parents instead. I'm so happy with the ending. I want more! I can't wait until we get to the youngest brothers story. I absolutely love the mix of fantasy and steampunk. Ms. Angela does it again! And shows why she's such a great writer!!
Chileeeee, imma need instagrams targeted ads to stop playing in my face 😭🙃 I told myself I was all done with holiday reads since I read 4 back to back, but then I saw this book being advertised and was so intrigued by the premise! interracial romance, spice, elves, a fantasy winter wonderland backdrop and a witch, andddd it’s holiday themed?? Count me in! But as much as I wanted to like this book I simply couldn’t get into it- the scenes felt stiff, the FMC was way to obsessed with the MMC who didn’t seem all That great,I mean he wasn’t bad but idk what he was doing to deserve that level of obsession with him 😒 and the spice scenes left me severely lacking to keep this rating PG 😂 overall I gave jf 2.5/5 stars rounded up bc I appreciated what the author was trying to do-but this one just was not it for me 😭 and now onto one more holiday romance to cleanse the palate 😂🎅🏾🎄
It was a nice story. You have to get beyond the zooming through character development and world building. It’s basically all summarized. The book would be better if it was longer but by page 100 I found myself enjoying the story and liked how it proceeded and ended. It’s a nice Holiday fantasy romance.
This was an easy, quick & good read! Full of magic, romance & a fun spin on the origin of Christmas itself. 🎄 If you like light fantasy romance and are in the Christmas spirit, give this one a try! I look forward to reading more by this author!
I loved this one. A lady with a mission, a guy with a reluctant destiny. Slow burn, big adventure, holiday origin story. Super fun at Christmas time. Happy reading!
A super cute, quick and spicy holiday read! It was pretty straightforward; there’s not a lot of depth to the characters or their relationship, but it’s still enjoyable for the holiday season.
Finished this on Nov. 15th and this was such a sweet story! A perfect read for the holidays! I was very engrossed with the story and I just loved it all the way through! You’ll definitely want to pick up this book if you love winter reads, and cozy and spicy romance!
“…bringing joy to others by making their wishes come true.”
This was a story about making decisions—even the hard ones that seem unfathomable—accepting one’s self, accepting others and the decisions they make, forgiving yourself and others, moving on and moving forward, and creating and putting happiness out into the world even if it’s only one small gift or gesture at a time!
Neva’s parents had no other choice but to accept the loan offered by a seemingly helpful and kind neighbor when their sculpting business hit hard times. And Neva…well Neva…she had no other choice but to seek out the old white haired hermit and to steal his magic when that neighbor turned out to be an evil witch that forced them all into slavery. With the promise of freedom for them all Neva finds herself on the hermit’s doorstep…but…the hermit is anything but and an old grump man. A loner? well…yes. White haired? Also a yes. A little on the grumpy side? Well life isn’t always sunshine and rainbows—especially when you have the Spirit of Winter breathing down your neck and a unfulfilled duty weighing on your soul. But old—Not At All! The man that stands before her is none other than a handsome elf.
And now with an unfortunate accident, mysterious tunnels beneath the mountain, a handsome but grumpy elf, an unmistakable and unavoidable attraction, and the fear of failure, can Neva keep to her task to steal Iyken’s magic or will Neva and Iyken steal each other’s hearts instead?
This was an extremely sweet and lovely story infused with just the quintessential amount of heartache, heartbreak, and love to make you feel all the emotions but finish with your heart full and your soul overflowing with joy.
I ABSOLUTELY LOVED IYKEN! He was grumpy. He had faults and failures and avoided his promise and is duty…BUUUUUT…he was the perfect type of MMC who felt real, substantial, and alive. I love me a tortured soul and he was written just right.
So anyways…if you are looking for something to fill the cold winter nights, with the loveliest of holiday vibes, sweet but spicy (oh yes…there was spice a plenty), coziness but with enough peril and intrigue woven throughout, and that will make you feel all the feels, ache with dispair, and rejoice in the Happiest of Ever Afters then you simply MUST READ a Wild Winter Warning!
If you loved A Wicked Winters Kiss you are definitely going to enjoy this!
This was an enjoyable holiday/winter read with romance that included a helping of spice and fantasy. I really enjoyed the banter between the two main characters in this book even more than Ford’s previous holiday novel. This leading lady really didn’t loose her fire. The atmosphere was wintery perfection.
I’d definitely recommend this if you are looking for a Christmas romance, that is light on the Christmas. 😉 You’ll find a not so traditional Santa story and it was magical. It also includes a happy ending. 💚
