Maybe Listening Made it Worse than it is?

Maybe listening made it worse than it is because I also bought the audio of this book? Or is it me? The heroine gets worse in her jealousy. As a matter of fact it gets old and juvenile. I know this is YA genre, but the heroine does not have to be this asinine. We have heroines who are younger or her age in books who are superbly structured than Bayleigh.

The amount of times the words depressed/depression are used in this book is ridiculous. Girl you are not depressed, you're boy crazy and codependent and jealous!!

first… chase as the second love interest you couldn’t think of another name that doesn’t rhyme with JACE

second… bayleigh is nearly 18 and so annoying like your boyfriend is famous and you get annoyed at these girls for wanting pictures and autograph from him?? hes wayyyy too good for her

and finally the ending… jace quitting OUT OF NOWHERE?? for her?? nah that’s bullshit after how hard he worked. it at least should have talked about how he was considering it first or something cause what

I was hoping that by now Bayleigh would have get her self together and stop being such a whinnying cry baby, seriously! That girl is annoy, love the drama. Jace as always wayyyy to good and patience for her. I'm so getting tired of her but I am almost done with the series and can't stop now, really hope she grows and mature a little in the 4th book.

Still very teen and simple)
Almost at every page was the word - boyfriend)
I think I wasn't so obsessed with relationships when I was a teenager.
Although in the book the main character is 17 years old and is already a more mature person, her behaviour is still very childish)

Jace is excited to accept a position with Team Yamaha on the pit crew and will be on the road for the next 6 months, and this could mean putting himself closer to racing himself soon! Bayleigh is happy for Jace, but worries that his job will interfere with their relationship since she is stuck in Lawson, Texas.
Being a senior in high school is about to get even worse, when she is assigned as a personal guide to the new boy next door, Chase. She doesn't want to chaperone a new boy, when all she can think of is being with her boyfriend. However, Chase soon sends a facebook request to Bayleigh, and he sets his sights on being more than friends with her. Jace comes home occasionally for a few hours, but that is not enough to keep Bayleigh from her jealousy as she thinks, "I'm not the girl to handle it". How can she when she is constantly bombarded with pictures of Jace and beautiful girls at ritzy parties without her!? The Winter Festival and her birthday are coming up soon, and it doesn't look like Jace will be able to come off the road to attend that either! And no "guy wisdom" from Chase helps to squash her insecurities about losing Jace to the tons of girls that seem to surround him on a nightly basis! She is wondering if she should take the advice of her best friend and just break it off with Jace, or can she learn to really trust him?

I was so excited to hear that Winter Untold was up for sale, though most times I think I'm the one living under a rock when I forget things like this. Definitely need to keep tabs for Spring Unleashed, though I'm sad to think that might be the end of this cute little series.

It definitely wasn’t as good as the first and second but it wasn’t terrible. Jace wasn’t in it as much as I hoped. I think bayleigh is a bit dramatic that there are pictures of her boyfriend with girls on facebook. he is famous but whatever

This is a spoiler-free review! You can read my reviews of Summer Unplugged and Autumn Unlocked on my blog now!

Bayleigh is once again obsessing over the fact that her hot racer boyfriend has an ever-growing fan club of girls that surround him at every waking moment. While she was definitely showing signs of maturing in Autumn Unlocked, it felt as though she was regressing in this installment. She is back to being glued to her phone and stalking her boyfriend's tagged photos on Facebook, along with avoiding any and all confrontation to talk about her feelings with Jace.

Meanwhile, Chase, her new neighbor, has moved in and clearly is crushing on Bayleigh while she remains utterly oblivious to every advance he makes. I will say that Chase somehow became the voice of reason in this book and actually gave Bayleigh some pretty solid advice when she expressed her concerns over all of the girls that were posting pictures with Jace. I do wish that there was actually some conflict in this book -- it was mostly one-sided internal hurt on Bayleigh's end, while Jace was completely in the dark in regards to her feeling insecure in their relationship.

Becca's presence is more involved compared to the other books, and she seemed to be the driving force in a lot of Bayleigh's jealous tendencies. She does have her moments, but to put it plainly, Bayleigh needs to chill out before she destroys her relationship with Jace on her own. There are pages and pages of her moping about how many girls will post pictures with Jace, but she literally refuses to do anything about it and only lets her jealousy boil over.

I truly would have preferred some sort of love triangle at any point during this book, just to make the plot more interesting and actually have something intriguing happen with any of the characters. I think I will give the fourth novella a shot before deciding if I want to move forward to seeing this series through, because 11 novellas is pushing my patience just a little bit. Every character -- except Jace -- in some serious need of character development and some frontal lobe formation in the next novella, because the maturity level -- or lack thereof -- is baffling.

If you are looking for a quick contemporary romance read that has low stakes, you may enjoy this seasonal series.

A Good Addition But Not On Its Own

Winter Untold by Amy Sparling was a quick and easy read, but it didn’t completely hook me. The story follows Bayleigh as she struggles with the ups and downs of a long-distance relationship with Jace while finding comfort in her new neighbor, Chase. The premise is relatable, especially for teens figuring out love, trust, and jealousy, but at times it felt a little predictable and rushed.

I liked how the author showed Bayleigh’s conflicting emotions, it felt real and honest, but I wished the characters had been developed more deeply. The novella format made it short and sweet, though it also meant some parts of the story felt glossed over.

Overall, it’s a nice addition to the Summer Unplugged series if you’re already a fan, but not one that stands out on its own.

If not for the narration style i would have not proceeded with this book. By now, Jace and Bayleigh have gotten really close and Bay being too jealous is honestly a little bit annoying though it adds a nice intrigue to the story. Chase was introduced in the right tie and did feature at the right moments but felt like he was gone too soon, didn't create any impact on the story or characters that were of major changes. He could have probably dated Becca but yeah.
in the end, we don't even know what happens of Chase, he's just gone from the entire story after he realises Bayleigh ha a boyfriend, which is a little disappointing. Otherwise, a good read narration wise, keeps you flipping. Luckily, these are quick reads so you are safe

This story is adorable, and it's exactly the story and the message I needed today. It's cute, it's short, and it's got practical advice in it for girls of any age, not just the high school aged girls like Bayleigh and Becca.

Chase tells Bayleigh at one point that she's living for other people (namely Jace) and that she needs to figure out what makes her happy, instead of just sitting around and waiting for Jace to text her or planning her entire existence around his schedule. As much as I wanted to roll my eyes and give a typical "yeah, yeah" response to that...he's so right. And it's advice that a certain Jess needed on this gloomy Tuesday morning.

Overall, very well done!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This third installment hits a more emotional chord. With distance testing their love and social media stirring up jealousy, Bayleigh’s struggle to trust and feel secure deepens in a way that feels authentic. The introduction of Chase adds believable friction, not just as a possible distraction but as a reflection of Bayleigh’s loneliness and confusion. While the pacing is still quick and dialogue-driven, there’s more reflection here, and the uncertainty makes the story feel more real. It’s an honest portrayal of young love facing grown-up complications.

I spent most of the book waiting for Bayleigh to let go of her incessant pessimism especially with Jace being such a sweetheart the entire time… but the ending made up for it and hit all the right emotional notes…! 🙃
