What I loved- it went deeper into the Bible than the normal advent study that focuses on Luke. You look at the roles Jesus fulfilled- prophet, priest, King, messiah. This takes you into the Old Testament, studying prophets and prophesies, kings, the roles of priests, etc.
The study was less woowoo kumbaya let’s love everybody, and more, well, actual study.
I both loved and didn’t love that part. I miss the emotional connection I got when studying Ephesians, but I think it’s important to learn and grow in wisdom without always needing the emotional stuff.
The biggest downside is it was pretty involved and time consuming for a study done during arguably the busiest time of year.
Overall, this was a good study and I recommend it. Just be ready to invest more than 5 minutes a day.

As another reviewer said, this study / devotional is a lot. I honestly finished early because I saw how much I'd need to do in the coming days and knew I wouldn't have time. There is even much to read and questions to answer on Christmas Day. I think it's good if you are only doing this and not doing other things.

I love that it focused on so many different aspects of Jesus. This would be a great study for someone trying to better understand the faith we have in Jesus.

I cannot recommend this advent study more! As someone who has grown up in the church and heard the Christmas story many times, I was so thankful to learn so many new things as I read familiar Scriptures! It was set up so well with history and then how Jesus fulfilled it. And loved doing it in a group with my youth girls and being able to talk about what we are all learning together!

Fabulous study! I loved digging into the Scripture and reading how Jesus was the perfect Prophet, Priest, King, and Messiah. It was a meaty study with many opportunities to dig deeper into the Word. This is my 3rd advent study with Daily Grace Co and honestly, my favorite so far. Great job, DGC!

I am once again singing the praises of The Daily Grace Co.

This is the third devotional that I’ve completed from them and I can say that each of their studies are really helpful when it comes to really diving into the Bible and studying God’s word. These studies break the scripture that you’ve read down in a way that helps you digest and understand what you’ve read, as well as showing you and inviting you to think about how to apply what you’ve read to your everyday life.

Good News, Great Joy really helped me center my heart around Christ during the Christmas season and I’m absolutely looking forward to their 2024 Advent Devotional.

This book brought a great depth to my Christmas this last year. I loved studying the Christmas story starting in the OT. It brought me from creation to the cradle and the studying of Scripture I did because of this book had me in awe at our great and loving God. I encourage one to look up the passages and really study them out and not just read through the commentary in this book. Though the commentary was nice, it was the format of Scriptures and the application that I found to really be a blessing.

I loved going through this book during Advent 2023. It was a thorough overview of Christ as the final Prophet, the Great High Priest, the everlasting King, and the long anticipated Messiah. I especially appreciate the extra material for studying Scripture well: brief instructions on how to study the Bible, the offices of Christ, timelines, charts/diagrams of Jesus’ fulfillment of prophecies and the priesthood, weekly memory verses, word study, glossary, attributes of God, the metanarrative of Scripture, a gospel presentation, and thoughtful questions for each day.

Really enjoyed doing this study with my hs soccer girls. Thought it wasn’t too much but also got a lot out of it. Deff recommend to do in a dgroup/bible study group for ages hs and up. Has reflection questions as well which I always love. Not a lot of scripture reading which I wish there was a little more on.

I have done many devotionals by DGC and do love them. This one was good but I wanted to dig deeper into scripture instead of this author’s commentary about the theme. In future I would like to do an advent that digs deeper into the scripture itself.
