The Naughty List

Rate this book
Sometimes life has a way of bending you over and ramming you right up the ass, but if it’s going to do that, the least it can do is take me out on a date first.

After an untimely firing caused by what could only be the best donkey meme ever created, I find myself back in my snowy hometown of Blushing, Colorado. And as beautiful as it is, there’s one big reason why I haven’t been home in six years.

Nicholas Stone—Blushing’s most eligible bachelor and the love of my life.

I have one goal and one goal only—get in and out of Blushing before Nick realizes I’m here. Only avoiding him is much harder than I could have anticipated.

Nick wants answers . . . or revenge, and not even a burning Christmas tree or a flying vibrator is going to keep him from getting exactly what he wants.

The Naughty List is a small town, second chance Christmas romantic comedy, featuring a grumpy/sunshine couple. It contains explicit sexual content, coarse language, and loss of a loved-one.

This was such a fun read. I loved this small-town, second-chance romance and was rooting for Blair and Nick the entire time. This book had me giggling right from the beginning and I read it in 1 sitting.

There was a strong nostalgic feeling throughout the story that really hit for me, it brought back childhood memories and that familiar, comforting feeling of going back home to visit. The small-town setting added so much charm, making this a sweet, flirty, and heartwarming read. Perfect if you’re in the mood for something cozy with just the right amount of romance.

📖
There was one person, one reason that pushed me to be better. I wanted to be her everything. I wanted to be the reason for the smile on her face every fucking day, and then she was gone, and I was left with a gaping hole right through the center of my chest.

4.5 Stars ⭐️ — "I would have followed you to the fucking ends of the world."

The moment I saw that Sheridan had released a Christmas romance book, in my mail box, I instantly went to download. My current read at the time was out on hold and ‘The Naughty List’ was picked up.

I’ve always enjoyed every book I’ve read by Sheridan—her dark romance books always know how to capture my attention. So it doesn’t go unnoticed that while I was excited to read another of her books, the fact that it wasn’t dark romance made me a little apprehensive. But I really didn’t need to be because she delivered once again.

— "Whether Blair considers herself mine or not, to me, she’ll always belong right by my side."

I thoroughly enjoyed Nick and Blair’s story. They both served with the grumpy x sunshine and second chance tropes. This was a cute lighthearted Christmas romance that I was right up my alley.

We’re instantly thrown into the story, it’s not long until we learn that not of the main characters are still pining over each other. But Nico and Blair are still both experiencing the heartache that started six years ago… and it doesn’t seem to be going away.

— "It has never been my intention to hurt you, Nick, because when you hurt, I hurt."

After Blair receives a letter from her recently passed Nana she goes back to her home town to try to sell the property. But the moment she land nothing is going her way. And she’s insistent on avoiding her ex at all costs—that doesn’t seem to be happening either, because the moment she lays eyes on him for the first time in six years Blair nose dives over the worktop of a coffee shop.

Blair had Sheridan’s usual female character flare—the odd sense of humour that we love as well as a sense of strong independence that we can expect to find in Sheridan’s fmc’s.

— "There’s only one prize in his eyes, and I’m not about to make him wait any longer to claim what’s always belonged to him."

And Nick well, he was the best part. He’s so possessive. This guy was the perfect gentleman, his subtle displays of chivalry combined with his grumpiness, as well as his bone deep caring heart. No matter how much Blair had hurt him he still came to her rescue multiple times. The thought of her hurt or unsafe didn’t sit right with him and I fell in love with him for that. Oh, and let’s not forget about his dirty talking. The man had me blushing, smiling and laughing all at once.

— "Blair has always been mine."

I enjoyed the small town antic of the neighbours, them butting in to force Nick and Blair to be in each others space. I loved the friendship dynamics between Blair and friends. Rena, Sarah and Oxley all added more to the cosy, feel good vibes. Each of one them wanted what was best for both Blair and Nick and the each helped in their own way.

— "If you need me, tell me. I will always come running."

The humour was entertaining, it had me smiling at both funny and cute moments. I found myself to be laughing, crying and swooning continuously throughout the book. It was such an adorable Christmas romcom.

That ending? It definitely wasn’t your typical second chance ending. I loved how it was rounded out yet it still gave us more. Nick and Blair got everything they wanted as well as a new addition(s?) to the family—I need more Butterscotch content.

— "I feel as though I’m fighting for what always been mine, and this time I’m not willing to lose."

— "There’s only one prize in his eyes, and I’m not about to make him wait any longer to claim what’s always belonged to him."

— "Her pain is my weakness, and if I could take the burden from her, just to make it a little easier to breathe, then I’d do it."

— “I love you, Blair. I never fucking stopped, and for a long time, I wanted to hate you for how you tore us apart, but i never could.”

— “God ain’t got nothing to do with it,” I warn her. “You scream for me, baby. I’m your fucking God now.”

— “Seeing your face for the first time after so long last week was like finally seeing the sun after living in pure darkness. You breathed life back into me, and I’m not about to let you go again.”

— "and I know without a doubt that this right here is my forever."

This is my first book by Sheridan Anne, and I absolutely enjoyed it. This is a funny and sweet second chance Christmas romance. MMC is so sweet and the perfect book friend. I wish he was real so bad 😂. FMC Blair does hilarious things to avoid Nick when when she first comes back to town. The scene at the coffee shop was so funny 😂.

I do want to check out other books by this author.

This book was the DEFINITION of a cozy holiday romance 🥺 There were moments where I cringed a little, and the main characters were toxic af for a majority of the book. But without a doubt they were meant to be together!! And the ending *romantic sigh* had me swooning.❤️

This book had me pressing my lips into a hard line

...since that line was used about a minimum of 8 times in this book.

The interest the main characters had in each other was as confusing as the 5 months later "epilogue(?)" heavily featuring a baby cow.

The book begins we with Blair being enraged over being fired for sending an inappropriate "meme" to her entire office and their clientele. How is it not obvious that she was rightfully terminated as she comes off as an HR nightmare....Following her firing she sends an email to the same people insulting her former boss with more wildly inappropriate accusations but for some reason these clients will follow her and her shitty attitude to a new firm she will just create herself. I suppose they try to make me hate her boss just as much by informing us he didn't give her time off for her Nanas funeral....but if he is desperate enough to rehire you after you telling his entire office his dick is small and he needs to get laid...pretty sure Blair would still have a job if she went MIA to go to her Nana's (who raised her btw) funeral.

At least Blairs current boyfriend was fucking some prostitute in her apartment leading to her dumping him. It was a shame since I feel his BDSM kink could have been the only spicy excitement in this book.

Anyway, whatshernuts goes back home. Obviously her ex from SIX YEARS AGO is still pining over her. Why, who knows. She seems like a spoiled turd who insists on doing everything her own way and doing it wrong. Despite having left him to pursue her dream, she avoids him at all costs while insulting him for bringing up the fact she hurt him and refusing to thank him for the endless kindness he shows her because for whatever reason he loves her.
Some pointless events take place. Blair refuses to put chains on the tires and almost ends up dead in a ditch. Surprise surprise, Nicholas saves her ass. She refuses to thank him and instead shows no regard for fire safety and all but lights his truck on fire. The 2 almost kiss but are cock blocked by the token gay BFF. Blair insults Nicholas for not knowing what loss is...only to quickly discover that in the time she was away his mom had passed. Bringing it up understandably upsets him but Blair just calls him a moody asshole and gets on with her day. I can see why he loves her so much

More pointless story writing continues. There is a Christmas bachelor chase which has Blair basically tackling other women and thus wooing Nicholas as their injured bodies lie in her wake. Somehow they realize they were always meant to be. The gay BFF/Nick's cousin gets engaged and the main characters decide that instead of celebrating the proposal they are attending, they will spend the night fucking in the spare bedroom of said couples house. Fucking barf

So to recap....Blair is fired (rightfully) and remains oblvious to HR issues or appropriate workplace conduct, has been too busy/too afraid to go home due to Nick's broken heart that she misses the funerals of both her primary caregivers in her life, refuses to acknowledge her failures or any kindness shown to her, gets rip roaring drunk, insults a man for brooding after just finding out about his dead mom, and basically has 0 personal growth.

But hey, they end up together in a beautiful house he built with God only knows what funds. And she starts her PR firm all while improperly renovating her dead Nanas house by day while Nick goes in at night to fix the mistakes she has made along the way. Because who wouldn't want a partner who you can't give constructive feedback too.

5 months later she is pregnant. Why not just get right back into this relationship. People don't really change much in 6 years.

And there is like 10 pages about how she chooses to adopt a baby cow. Again...the perfect partner.

Oh. Nick was the one and only name on the "Naughty list" that Blairs friend jokingly made for her. Blair loves lists. Maybe her one redeeming quality?

I do not recommend this book. Chemistry ZERO. Spice...basically zero. What a disappointment

It only has two spicy chapters.

I loved this book so much. It's so good. It's so addicting. It got me hooked from the very beginning and I couldn't stop reading it. Didn't want to put it down. I basically read it in one day. It's so well written. It grabs your attention fast. It's funny. I felt so much. I felt the pain, the anger, the sadness, the hurt and guilt. But it had so much want and need and so much tension and lust. It was just too good. This couple was fantastic. They got off on arguing with each other. I loved their banter and Blair's sassiness. Nick wasn't one to hold back either and together, it was just fantastic.

This book is more plot and low smut, almost none. I normally love when they get to the delicious parts sooner but the built-up, the slow burn. And I normally hate slow burns, but wow. I enjoyed every second. This book was worth it because when they finally gave in, it was amazing. This one is an absolute must read this Christmas season. I enjoyed reading it alot. One more Sheridan Anne book crossed off my list. 💚

You'd think by now, I wouldn't doubt Sheridan's work, yet I did with this one. Sheridan is one of the BEST dark romance authors ever. I have loved every single book by her. I was so nervous picking this book up. This is so far from dark romance, but I love that it was Christmas themed and who was I to reject such an awesome gift from the author herself. I stopped what I was doing and dove right in.

To say I loved this book is such a huge understatement. It was everything my cold messed up heart needed. The tears flowed freely. The laugh out loud moments. And the utterly sickening sweet moments were utter perfection. Nick and Blaire are so cute. The doubts that both Nick and Blaire had about each other's past relationships, current status, and future were relatable. We all fear rejection and just want to be loved.

Watching Blair regain and repair her relationship with Nick was amazing. I love them as a couple! Nick and Blair both learned to forgive each other and themselves. We all make mistakes, but forgiveness, honesty, and communication can heal so much hurt.

Now this was the fun, spicy, second chance rom com I’ve been waiting for this holiday season❄️❤️🎄

Blair heads back to Blushing, CO where she hasn’t been for six years after she left the love of her life to venture into her dream career in New York City. Nick is the very grumpy, brooding MMC that has been pining after Blair for the last six years…

“ She’s forever going to be the one who got away, even now when she’s standing right in front of me” .

I devoured every page of the delicious slow burn, the feisty banter, and the “you’re the only one for me”, tropes!!

Highly recommend for a holiday season read 🎄💖.

It's such a feel-good vibes type of book. The characters grew up together, and when it came time to pick a job and a relocation was required, well, things didn't fall into place.... Having to come back to her hometown to handle some family business and running into Nick, her "soulmate" things get more interesting. It was grumpy/sunshine, funny, and sweet. The audio chemistry was great between Brandon Francis and Carly Robins!

Hallmark on the radio with a spicy scene and some not very Christian language. 🙃
Anywho….. another easy cute Christmas read/listen. The narrator’s were vibing for me, Brandon Francis had the perfectly matched voice for our grumpy, muscled, blue collar Colorado boy MMC and Carly Robert’s played our bratty “I’ve got bigger dreams than this small town” MFC.
The naughty list is a second chance Christmas rom-com with just a pinch of good old vanilla spice, so no triggers, unless you count finding your soon to be ex boyfriend in a gimp suit with a dominatrix hooker in your living room right after you’ve been fired from your fancy corporate job.

We start our story in New York with our girl Blair being fired by her tightass twerp of a boss. After leaving work for the last time girlie finds her “not that serious” boyfriend has broken into her apartment to have a freaky fetish session with a random. So she breaks up with him, throws him out, and breaks out the wine to lament all the places she went wrong in her life while planing the next steps. Then she gets a knock, knock and wah who grandma had left her the house, but now she has to go home and face the consequences of her actions, face the man she’s still in love with.

Back at home ole’ Nicky poo has been pining away for the last 6 years for girlie and has become the towns most eligible grumpy bastard, I mean bachelor. So when Blair comes home he plays secret Santa with her chore list and does a bite of stalking before finally ending up in her bad company.

He thinks she hate him and stays grumpy to protect his little heart, she still loves him but in all honesty she did the right thing 6 years ago, they were to young and she had bigger dreams, and you know absence makes the heart go fonder and all. Anyway, she’s feeling all type of ways about him but also she’s a spoiled brat.

We have a lot of misunderstandings, hilariously messy meet-cutes,and regret filled longing before we explode (in bed) and our couple finally gets there shit together and finally get together. It all ends in a Christmas HEA and Blair has everything she ever wanted. The end.

I liked it, it was a good time but it didn’t really make me have any strong feeling, I probably won’t be itching for a reread next Christmas 🎄 there is a million others just like it and I’ll find a new one to fill my time.

The Naughty List by Sheridan Anne
⭐⭐⭐⭐🌶️🌶️🌶️
Dual POV · Contemporary Romance · Small Town · Second Chance · Grumpy x Sunshine · Holiday (Christmas) · 270 pages · 🎧6h39

I listened to this one on audio, beautifully narrated by Carly Robins and Brandon Francis. It’s a quick and cheerful listen that was the perfect cozy companion while cleaning or prepping for family gatherings during the holidays.

This story isn’t overly heavy, it’s a cute little second chance, small-town, holiday romance and it honestly has that perfect Hallmark-Christmas-spice energy (you know what I mean).

The characters were adorable, though I did find Blair a bit too naive at times considering she was described as strong and independent. Still, I respected her for leaving small-town life behind in order to chase her dreams in the big city. Love is beautiful, but it shouldn’t be the only defining factor in life so seeing her prioritize growth and independence made me root for her.

That said, I did raise an eyebrow at how unprofessionally she interacted with her clients and while she’s written as confident and hardworking, her style might’ve scared off some real-life customers. Especially as I also work with clients and behaviour like hers would absolutely not fly with our clients. So that part didn’t quite hit the mark for me.  But this is a story so I let it slide.

What did absolutely win me over though? Blair’s love of lists! Lists, sublists, lists of lists... this girl gets me. I have at least a dozen just book-related lists at any given time, and do I follow them? Absolutely not. But do they bring me joy? 100%. So that little quirk of hers made me feel less alone in the world of lists loving dorks.

There’s a bit of spice between the two characters near the end because let’s be honest, holiday romances almost always end with an HEA. But don’t be fooled into thinking that’s the only scorching spice you’ll get as the story is filled with plenty of thoughts, memories, and fantasies long before the final chapters. So nope, this one’s definitely not a closed-door romance.

And the epilogue? Oh it was delightfully quirky and had me cackling. Maybe not the most believable ending but with Blair's character, I'm not surprised.

All in all, this was a fun feel-good holiday romance that gave me exactly what one needs for the holidays; festive, humor, and a guaranteed HEA.

This book was honestly the perfect mix of cute and spicy.

Blair returns home to settle her grandmother’s estate and has to face all the feelings seeing her ex, Nick, dredges up.

One of the best parts of second chance romances is that it’s never too fast. Blair and Nick were together for six years, and despite being away from each other for the same amount of time, I can absolutely believe them getting back together, and serious, within a week.

Especially since neither of them ever really stopped loving the other. This book wasn’t a miscommunication so much as both of them being so hurt they weren’t really listening to the other. There was never a moment that I doubted they both wanted and loved each other. They both just had to work through some stuff to get there.

Their chemistry was amazing throughout and I really appreciate that, despite Blair leaving, she still had good friends to rely on in town.

I do wish we could have gotten more back story on Nick, and a little more back story on their relationship. Nick’s family only seemed to be brought up when it was relevant to Blair’s story. We know his mom died, but we don’t know how. And the rest of his family isn’t even MENTIONED until 3/4 of the way through the book. A throwaway sentence tells us Blair had a good relationship with Nick’s family but they’re not around long enough to see evidence of that. I think hearing/seeing more of their past relationship would have rectified that.

Over all though, it was such a good, well paced story with just a good enough dose of spice to keep you interested.

Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️/5
Plot: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Christmas corniness: 🎄🎄🎄/5 (It takes place over Christmas, she gets stranded at a tree farm, and there’s a Christmas fair.)
Best line: “You’re not together? I figured you two were doing the whole long-distance thing. But she’s single? Fuck. Why didn’t you start with that? Listen, don’t worry about coming out here. I’ll get it sorted out for her.”

“You even look at her wrong, and I’ll gut you like a fucking fish.”
Worst line: none

Slow burn, second chance
Trigger warning: talk of the passing of maternal figures for both MCs and how to handle living without them.

If you are also in the holiday reading mood but also want some sailor mouthed MCs and spicy moments, add this to your TBR.
From the first page, I was laughing out loud. It didn’t end there. There were so many laugh so hard I gave a snort moments. It kept the momentum going from start to finish, so while this was a full length novel, it read almost like a novella.

You start out with Blair getting fired (again) for a donkey meme gone wrong. At the same time she gets word that her late grandmother left her house to her back in her home time. So it was time for Blair to return to Blushing to get the estate together. This means returning to the home town she left 6 years ago and her heartbroken man, Nick. They were high school sweethearts that did college long distance where Blair realized she wanted to try her hand at the big city corporate life, leaving behind the love of her life.

I’m a sucker for second chance romance because the tension is usually top tier; however, it has the makings to go south quick because it a lot of the time miscommunication comes into play. But I enjoyed the reason they were apart and the coming back together. And yeah the tension was top tier. It did make this a sloooow burn, but there’s enough moments before to make it a sweet slow burn. I do wish we had some flashback moments, but that’s just a personal preference. I like to see how they were before the breakup.

I’m knocking a star off because the few interactions between the MCs were giving a bit of whiplash where they would admit to how much they missed each other in one sentence then the next they are yelling at the other because they think they didn’t want them. So that got a bit redundant, but otherwise it’s a solid LOL hallmark after dark holiday read.

I wanted to like this snarky girl and her left-ya-behind-for-NYC guy, but sadly didn't. While I thought her holiday meme was quite funny, to send it to not just her company but all of their clients as well and then believe she's being called into her boss' office for a promotion had me shaking my head. Maybe I'm too old to see the humor in that one. But, I continued on.

Our FMC left home for NYC to pursue her dream. She left behind her HS boyfriend who "was everything to [her]" and "...having to walk away from that left one hell of a scar on [her] heart.", yet she doesn't even ask him if he'd go with? And, she had to walk away? 🤔

She returns and, as the blurb states, "[She has] one goal and one goal only—get in and out of Blushing before Nick realizes [she's there]. Only avoiding him is much harder than [she] could have anticipated." Blushing is a small town where everyone knew them as a long-time couple, some even thought they remained one dispite their distance apart and yet she imagined being able to refab and sell her grandma's house without Nick finding out? 🤔 But, I continued on.

She grew up in Blushing, CO but can't/won't/doesn't dress for or prepare for the weather? So, said broken-hearted-ExBF is "forced" to save you while trying to claim you're able to take care of yourself? 🤔

“Walking away from you was the biggest mistake of my life, and I regret it every fucking day,” yet she never asked him to go with, she never reached out afterward 🤔

“The thought of getting to be in the same damn room as you is the only reason I haven’t hightailed it back to New York yet,” yet she dives under counters to try to avoid being seen by him 🤔

Then, flipflopping to “... if I knew you hadn’t matured any further than the twenty-three-year-old asshole I left behind ...” and “... until now, I thought I was content in that decision.” 🙄

By that point I was so close to the end I just continued on. Too many conflicting responses to their seperation by both characters and not in the "I'm conflicted about how I feel" way, but in the "author couldn't seem to decide how the characters felt and decided to play both sides throughout" way. Made me dizzy with frustration. In the end, they got their HEA, so all's well that ends. 😆

“Seeing your face for the first time after so long last week was like finally seeing the sun after living in pure darkness. You breathed life back into me, and I’m not about to let you go again.”

This book wrapped up my 2025 reading challenge. Honestly, I was looking for a completely different read for next year, but somehow this one caught my eye. When I saw that festive cover, I knew I had to check it out — and that’s how I met Blair and Nick.

The Naughty List is a small-town, second-chance Christmas rom-com with a grumpy × sunshine vibe. We get to know the main characters, who have more in common than just growing up in Blushing, Colorado. We also learn why Blair hasn’t been home in six years and why she’s doing everything she can to avoid Nick once she’s back.

The story gave me major You Deserve Each Other vibes. Sometimes the characters acted a little strange, but that’s exactly what made them funny, unique, and so alive. Those moments were full of humor, emotions, and heart. It took them some time to get past toxicity, hurt, misunderstandings, anger, sadness, and guilt, but they found their way back to each other. No matter how many years go by, one thing stays the same — how much they care for each other.

Throughout the story, there’s this nostalgic, cozy feeling, like coming home. The small-town setting gives the book its charm: the antics of the townsfolk trying to push Blair and Nick together, Blair’s friendships, and the perfect balance between lighthearted fun and heart-clutching moments — it made me laugh, cry, and swoon all at once.

It’s such a sweet Christmas rom-com. If you love tropes like:

💌 small-town vibes
💌 Christmas rom-com
💌 second chances
💌 forced proximity
💌 grumpy × sunshine

then I’d definitely recommend this one. It’s the kind of story that leaves you closing the book with a smile and a warm, fuzzy feeling inside.
