Blue Moon Appalachia #5

Lights in the Sky

Rate this book
Don’t go out at night. Not when the lights are shining.

All the locals know what the lights in the sky above their remote town represent. They know how many locals have gone missing. They also know that no one can help them.

However, when one person reads about a paranormal investigator’s recent success, it’s not long before Edgar Corey arrives to investigate.

But does everyone want him poking his nose in their business?

Curious about the possibility of alien abductions, Edgar soon questions if there might not be something far mor sinister at play. Something far more … human.

Is the government behind the disappearances? A clandestine branch of a tech firm with a secret agenda? Or is it really aliens?

Edgar is going to figure it out, but when he gets closer to the truth, he might just wish he’d stayed at home.

Excellent as usual ! These Appalachia books have to be amongst my favourite Blue Moon books. The writing is great ,so immersive from the start of reading. “Good Lord,” Scott said. “Doug, are you trying to have a conversation with the bull frogs?” “Bull frogs?” Doug said with a mocking tone of disappointment. “I thought that sounded more like a gorilla.” From the other side of the campfire, Clem, the third member of their camping party, chuckled. “Well, there are no gorillas out here. So if you’re trying to reach out to them, you’re going to have to try harder.” “Maybe you could summon Bigfoot,” Scott said. “Bigfoot is in the Pacific Northwest,” Clem corrected. “Not in North Carolina.”…doesn’t this just splendidly set a tone?Barry Napier and Steve Higgs certainly make this series their own. There’s strange lights in their sky at night and there’s things happen that give the locals a fright. The warning is heeded not to go out when the lights are in the sky ,as many locals have gone missing. Poof! But one person upon reading about paranormal investigator Edgar Corey’s success on his last case and calls on him. Of course not everyone is in agreement and he’s not quite welcomed with much endearment. Is it a conspiracy,it’s certainly more likely than things going bump in the night that fright! Aliens he does doubt ,but he will out and take the shout because he’s honest and devout and what his expertise is all about. Gets the job done ,usually has fun …not so sure with this one. It’s a doozy . Could turn a softer soul woozy….Edgar is nothing if not thorough and he will get to the bottom of those strange lights in this borough. By hook or by crook ,he does brook . His best foot forward and expertise he took. Does he get to the bottom of the case? Is it Aliens or the human race? It’s certainly a fast paced race to get his conclusions and opinions on illusions to thwart another theory. With this case he got a little weary… Excellent storytelling, compellingly so. Very well written ,I enjoyed this so. Love the humour and light camaraderie, the angsty tone and like a dog with a bone sleuth to get to the truth. Bravo this was good . Well as I knew it so would.

Edgar is enjoying his new life as an employer and paranormal investigator, what he is not liking are the threats he is receiving by mail and email. Not bothered by those threats he travels to a small town, Bowery Lake, to investigate the case of a missing man and the lights that keep appearing in the sky. Everyone in town believe there are UFO's in the area and that they are kidnapping people but the truth is far from it and it's much darker than he could foresee. Lights in the Sky has a very engaging plot and the end promises more interesting stories to come. I thank the authors for this ARC.

One for the books!
This time Edgar takes on the main case and things get dangerous quite fast! Whoever or whatever is behind the bright lights in this small town are determined to keep it hidden at all costs. People going missing, though, is something that Edgar can't just ignore and hope things will just sort themselves out. A mystery that leaves you guessing right to the end of the story! Very well written!

An intriguing story by Napier and Higgs. Edgar gets an email regarding a missing man and goes to investigate while Poppy and Whistler take on a Big Foot sighting.
Edgar has quite the adventure.
Loved the book!
