The Thrice Named Man #14
Imperator
The year is 269 AD and the once proud Roman Empire is a shadow of its former self.
It will take a man with iron in his veins to set things right and accomplish the impossible.
From a humble upbringing, a boy emerges who is destined to change history.
This is the story of Lucius Domitius Aurelianus.
Part Imperator
With the Goths reeling from the crushing defeat suffered at the hands of the iron legions, the portents indicate that Claudius Gothicus is the one destined to turn the tide in favour of the crumbling Empire.
Knowing that the armies of Rome are engaged with the invaders, the cunning war-witch of the Alemanni seizes the opportunity and leads the clans across the Danube. The Germani overrun the border fortifications and cut a bloody path through Raetia. Motivated by the prophecies of their oracles, the savages pour through the Alpine passes, intent on claiming the ultimate prize to ravage the Eternal City.
Emboldened by the barbarians' success, more hostile tribes begin to stir. Soon rumours of invasions abound. But obscured by the fog of war, another peril lurks silent and unseen, within striking distance of the jugular.
Events take a turn for the worse.
Is it a sign that the gods have abandoned Rome in its hour of need? Or could it be that the three sisters toiling at the spindle of fate are weaving the destiny of a man, a warrior prince the likes of which the world has never seen before.

Another great contuation of a story
Unlike many long mutiple book series, Hector manages to keep you reading long after you should have paused.
Outstanding mix of history and fiction. I have read many series, from Tolkien, to Jordan, to Martin. This by far os the best that keeps you waiting for the next book.

Amazing series
There is something very special about this series. I see the historical notes and I admire the author. I really enjoy the story because it’s got a little bit of everything in it. It truly is worth reading. It is done in a different way but that is what makes it so special. You simply have to read it to see it so. The really neat part is when you do compare to history gives you a deeper understanding of the time.

Truly enjoyable series.
From the first book to the latest book I've enjoyed following the characters as their journey throughout the Roman Empire unfolds. I'm not going to reveal what that entails, but if you like intrigue wrapped in reasonably accurate history, then this is a series you're going to enjoy.

Another solid addition!
A must read for fans of the series. I've followed this series from the start and all I can say is I've loved this journey. My only complaint is that I wish Miller slowed it down and immersed us in the world more.

Another enthralling ride that quickly finishes to soon.
One of the best story lines of ancient rome its enemies and barbarian allies. Another emperor and more Goth challenges. Our thrice named man relishes battle and revenge for a comrade poisoned.

I have now finished reading all 14 volumes of The Trice Named Man and enjoyed every single one. Fast paced action, characters become established and familiar. If you are a fan of the Roman History and it's Legions this is it. Looking forwards to instalment XV, hope it will be available soon.

Bloody, Marvellous!
The steaks are high, and so are the odds in the fighting. Honestly, the amount of beef consumed over a fire in these tales is awesome.
Dastardly deeds afoot, in the era of unending wars - proper mental!

Aurelian attains his predestined place. The intricate details of this excellent series enable the reader to "live" the history. One read-through is never enough!

I have been enjoying reading the books in this serjes. Maybe they will make it a movie one day. The series is misnamed. It should be something like the Emperor with nine lives.
