An Empire As A Betrothal Gift
Volume 3-5

I loved how it ended. Rather than let Wei Lian be turned into the conquered King, Ji Yue went out of his way to ensure that Wei Lian’s country and dignity remained intact. He even gave Wei Lian the title as Emperor even though it was completely unprecedented to have two emperors presiding over an empire.

It was a very good story.

There was not a single moment in this book where I was not thinking 'this book is a masterpiece'. Every aspect was beautifully executed. The relationship had me wanting to cry it was so perfect. The feels yall the FEELS. What I really appreciated was the complete lack of angst/breakup trope/miscommunication. I can't stand nonsense like that so I really loved how issues were dealt with. There was still sad times, but the author didn't make the characters go through hell randomly halfway through the book.

The book was also pure comedy. The MC immediately had me dying about 2 chapters in and kept me laughing straight until the end. He was such an entertaining loveable character. With the ML they made this hilarious power couple. Their interactions were gold especially with all the bickering.

The plot was well written, it wasn't overly complicated, but wasn't predictable either. It was still very intricate. At the same time though, it was relaxed and could almost be described as slice of life at times. They didn't go too much into detail for certain events, which I liked.

This book ate. I don't know how I hadn't found it until now, it's a secret gem. 5/5 stars!

wei lian and ji yue are the best couple idc I make the freaking rules!! there's so much I want to talk about but I don't even know where to start

seeing genuine feelings slowly blossom through their original scheming was wonderful, their banter and interactions truly top tier

wei lian is 100% ji yue's bottom line haha letting him eat delicacies under the guise of poison testing and not exposing him

I LOVE LOVE LOVEE FOX CODED CHARACTERS. lazy, beautiful, dangerous and capable and wei lian checks all those boxes hehehehe

the modern extras have to be my fav, alongside the one where they swap bodies with themselves in an alternate timeline- like yes they deserve happiness in every fucking universe.

GOSHHHH my brain has gone blank but this novel is a literal gem I will recommend this to anyone AHHH!! from what I remember there's like no drama with concubines (I don't even think they are concubines) and yeah we don't see irrelevant ppl hating on their relationship, all that matters is them <33

this is EVERYTHING I have to reread begging the universe for an official English release I shall buy it at the speed of light

This was a really good book. I found the relationship development between the two main characters honestly really nice. The enemies to lovers aspect was done really well and when they finally got into a relationship, it was very satisfying. I really liked the drama and tension in each volume especially at the start. I did find aspects of the plague section a bit much but the reveals in that section made up for any of my misgivings. I really liked the side characters especially in the latter half of the series. They had their own personality and I was super invested in them.

I was really surprised to see this book delve into Dissociative Identity Disorder and I was happy to see it not demonised. I was also pleasantly surprised by the discussions of female sexuality and sex work in this book as well. I don't really see positive or even neutral depictions of these topics a lot in danmeis so I'm so happy that some care was put into them.

Overall this series was a satisfying ride. Sure it had silly aspects and a bit of a rushed ending but I still enjoyed it for the most part.

Cried my eyes out from how deep their devotion was for each other and then laughed my butt off with the fun extras so satisfying what a gorgeous journey. One of the most memorable couples in Danmei just perfect. I hope it gets picked up by English translation teams and printed so everyone can enjoy this wonderful couple

I'm sorry to the individual who recommended this piece of *literature* to me, I'm a deeply flawed individual with very strange tastes and even then I was unable to read past chapter 30, I was in pain, my brain was being pan fried with dullness and the worst dynamic know to man, I am so sorry

An excellent conclusion to an enemies to fake lovers to devoted lovers novel. I loved them so much.
