This was a super quick novella about why Athania turned evil. But it honestly still left me a little confused.
She was sweet and caring and kind to all. Then the incident occurred and she used to her ability to strategize to get revenge. But the revenge spiraled so quickly into insanity that it didn’t make sense.
I also was unsure why she felt a pull to Jonaton as well? She mentions it but then there’s no explanation. Astoria had me rolling my eyes at the naïveté from a goddess.
Ugh I hate it when authors are so good at what they’re doing that they have me feeling (almost) sorry for the evil and sadistic villain. This was perfect before diving into Summer— which absolutely terrifies me!
This was a super short novella (took under an hour to read) and it’s basically a villain origin story. While short, it did make me truly hurt for the villain of the main series. It’s been a while since I read the first three books, so this was a good little reintroduction to the series before book four
4.75 stars I really enjoyed this novella, it provided the backstory of Athania and how she came to be the character she is within the rest of the series. Also, the bonus chapter with Mabon was much appreciated.
I should’ve been able to finish this in under two hours, but I kept trying to read before bed and falling asleep before I got too far. I’m grateful for any new addition to the Sisters Solstice, but I wanted just a little more out of this, admittedly.
Gorgeous prose as always, and I loved getting to see Lord Night and Lady Magic, but Athania just bores me. I feel as if this could’ve been a lengthy prologue to book 3 or 4 if trimmed down a bit, rather than a standalone novella. Regardless, Our Lady of War was 10x better than half the books I’ve read this year. I loved it, and I’m absolutely living for the bonus chapter featuring Mabon. I genuinely cannot wait for book 4.
I am not usually one for novella especially in the middle of a series. It usually is something that makes no addition to the story line and you can clearly tell it's just to fill in until the finale. NOT THIS ONE!! OMG this book is a must read. Super short but adds a missing piece to the puzzle that makes you realize why things are happening the way they are without giving too much away from the coming end. I definitely recommend taking the little bit of time it takes to read this one and read it. It only surprised me and made me fall more in love with the entire series!
I really enjoyed this novella, I'm discovering the joy of a well written novella. It's a perfect way to prepare for the last installment of the series. It provided the backstory of Athania, Lady of War, and how she became the character she is in the main series. Every villain has an origin story and getting to see the beginning of Athania's was insightful. Seeing her motives, traumas, and rationale for behavior helps make the character more believable. As was seeing the relationship between Athania and Thanasim and Asteria first hand. Also, the bonus chapter between with Mabon was adorable.
I’m so confused as to why this is a novella and not part of one of the existing books because it’s everything we’ve been waiting for for three books now. The Novella is perfectly short, sweet and to the point. It is the exact level of detail with the same beautiful writing that we needed to fully understand how we got to where we are in the sister’s solstice series.
We love, we laugh, we rage - and there’s a plot twist?? Loved it.
Our Lady Of War was a beautiful novella set in the magical Sister Solstice universe. It was just as well written as Vampas other books. Vampa has a way with words that makes the characters she write about truly come to life. In these pages I experienced both love and heart break vividly. I want more of the goddesses.
Our Athania. Our Lady of War. The rightful one. Our Sun.
This was such a great little novella that gives some insight into the villain from the main series. I love reading antagonists backstories, because every villain has one and I like to understand their rationale, motives, and past experiences or trauma. This one was done really well.
If you're getting ready to start Summer of Sacrifice, read this book. It scratched an itch I had for sure. It wasn't anything out of this world, but we got to see Lady of War do her thing and how she ends up where she is.
Will be IMMEDIATELY starting Summer of Sacrifice. I feel like I've waited decades! I can't wait!
I'm not really into novellas because I feel like they're just too short, but this one was helpful because it does explain some things that you will need to know before finishing the series. I am glad I read it. Answered a few of my questions!
This did not need to be a novella. It could have been an epilogue or prologue had it been written better. I had to keep rereading bits that were confusing. Lots of fluff and not much actual villain creation, just a sudden snap that didn't make sense.
This was such a heartbreaking novella and provides so much understanding for Athania’s character. Lady War is a baddie and this makes me like her when I felt she was unredeemable in sister Spring’s book. Flawless gothic aesthetic as always
A little villain backstory to gain some insight into the character. I thought I might read this and find a soft spot for her or that maybe she was just misunderstood, but no, she flat out sucks.
I love this series and can’t wait to read the last book!
All the emotions in this book! The author really made me feel for the FMC! I would have read 500 more pages of this story ! I’m looking forward to seeing how this all connects to the next book!
Great story. I was trying to figure out who this lady of war is within the story line. Yes we meet Arhania, and my heart hurt for her, but until the very end I kind of think I know who she might be. Also getting more of Lord Night and Lady Magic was awesome. Lord Night being a bad a**. That ending!!
This was a decent quick read that gives backstory on athania… three stars bc I hated reading her perspective but it’s cool to know that she was family to Aggie and Grimm at one time
