Usually, Christmas is Ivy’s favorite time of year. Her mornings are spent thinking about decorating the tree and looking at Peaches from across the farmers market. She’s never actually spoken to him because he’s deviously handsome and she only feels mysterious from fifty meters away. So, it seems too good to be true when she spots him in the bar the day she needs to destress the most.
Because this year, she has to help build a nativity with the six-year-old who is trying to ruin her life. Ivy isn’t proud that her nemesis is a primary school child who won’t stop being mean to her son, but her nemesis is a primary school child all the same.
Can we talk about love? I'm dying to talk about love.
Hi! Thank you for reading my books! No need to wait to post a review, I'm not fussy about reviews before publish date as I will run from GoodReads so fast xxxxx
Firstly, a huge thank you to J. S. Jasper for sending me this ARC.
This book you guys!! Definitely added to the list of festive faves, and after Just a Pretty Face, I wasn’t sure J.S. Jasper’s writing could get better!
This book has so many cute, festive vibes! Two single parents (which is apparently a trope that I love), a misunderstanding with their kids, disability representation, friends who are family, small town vibes and lots of spice! This was such a great festive novella!
I love the chemistry between Ivy and Klaus: his super obvious but polite and considerate love of her, the way he builds her up, her struggle to stop herself from opening up to him and the bordering rivals to lovers and grumpy x sunshine tropes made this the perfect mix of all my favourite tropes!
That said, the kids in this book were the real stars of the show, and Archie’s considerate nature absolutely melted me.
“I tried to ask him if he needed help, but I got the sign wrong. Max doesn’t like loud noises, so he turns his ears down.”
Also, the epilogue was everything I needed! The only problem with novellas is their tiny nature (which we expect) but I can’t help wanting more of this tiny blended family!
I thoroughly enjoyed this delightful holiday-themed enemies-to-lovers book! Ivy, the single mom and FMC, finds joy in exploring the local farmers' market and stealing glances at the incredibly handsome Peaches, whose real name is Klaus. Fate brings them together at a bar, sparking a connection that seemed like a dream come true for Ivy—until her son, Archie, nearly gets expelled from school due to issues with Max, a fellow classmate.
To address the school predicament, Ivy and Archie meet with the headmaster, only to discover that Max's parents are none other than Klaus. The foursome reluctantly joins forces to collaborate on the school's nativity play scenery. Despite Ivy and Klaus's best efforts to get along, banter becomes a frequent companion. As they work together, the foursome grows closer, and their boys form a budding friendship.
Experience the festive atmosphere, unexpected turns, and a touch of excitement in this swiftly-paced narrative. It's essential to read to unravel whether Ivy and Klaus can endure until Christmas.
I know I’m currently reading an arc and I have 2 other arcs to read but I had to pick this up too . I had to read another j.s Jasper book because I plan on reading all of her books .
Anyways this book needs more hype like wdym it only have 8 reviews and 16 ratings ???? For a cute Christmas romance by a bipoc author this book deserves more hype fr . - it’s a novella an interacial romance ) oh and both are single parents and it’s just one of the cutest thing too. THERES DISABILITY REP BECAUSE THE MMc klaus’s( yes his name is klaus like klaus mikahelson I know ) son max is death and has hearing aids.
Anyways klaus is such a sweetheart aaah. ! I love him but I also just adore Ivy the fmc.
If you want a cute Christmas novella by a black author with disability and black representation this book is for you ( however this is black woman x white man so if you don’t like white love interests in your interacial romances this one is not for you )
I loved the ending it was so cute like the fact the kids called them mum and dad 🥰🥰🥰🥰.
“I don’t want you to change anything for me,” he says, reaching his hand out for her. She takes it and finally lies down against him. He’s far too comfy for someone with a rock-hard stomach. “I just want to exist with you.”
4.5 🌟
Klaus and Ivy are single parents to adorable five year olds who get into a bit of a tiff (but not really) at school and neither parent knows what happened. The principal who was an a-hole suggests the parents work together on a project for the school. What the Principal doesn’t know is these two had a very hot exchange the night before but neither knew their kid was the one the others got into the tiff with.
This book touches on disabilities, institutional racism, parenting, and how sometimes your farmer’s market crush could be the love of your life.
Klaus fell first and hard. Ivy had her reasons for reservation and Klaus respected that. The kids are so cute!!! And as a sibling to someone with a disability, Jess including this in her book warmed my heart. All kids deserve friends.
i absolutely loved this novel. season’s hatings is a quick, easy and cute read and even though the story is fast paced it felt anything but rushed to me.
where do i start? ivy is such a strong independent women and i loved how there wasn’t anything she wouldn’t do for her son, archie. (besides seeing paw patrol, iykyk)
klaus, or peaches as ivy likes to call him, is a top tier book boyfriend and was always so thoughtful. he made sure he’s always there for his son max, but he wasn’t jumping to conclusions when something happened. i adored how he made sure others knew that just because max has hearing aids it doesn’t mean that he’s special and he needs to be treated like any other kid.
klaus and ives their chemistry was amazing and i loved how they got their (much deserved) happy ending together. it was so cute when max started to call ivy mom and when archie started to call klaus dad, all the progression they made just felt so natural.
🍑Single parents 🍑Holiday setting 🍑Spicy 🍑Funny and steamy at the same time
⭐️ 5/5 🌶️ 3/5
An amazing Holiday read for all the Cindy Lou Whos and all the Grinches out there 💕 🎄
Ivy is a single mum with a totally innocent crush with a guy at a farmers market… I mean it would be totally innocent had he not been fantasising about her too 🍑 . He’s her Peaches she’s his Wednesday 💕 . An amazing story about how romance can bloom from unexpected places and how taking risks definitely pays off ⭐️

The dedication: “Can we talk about love? I’ve been dying to talk about love .”
Season's Hatings was really disappointing because I can tell that I can align with the writing style of the author, but this book was overall really flat and not interesting to engage with. Ivy and Klaus were…boring. Their entire meet cute vibe at the farmer's market was old right at the beginning, and then Klaus' son allegedly being the one who was causing Ivy's son issues at school—and that turning out to entirely be a misunderstanding—was boring. Archie and Max's dynamic was adorable and I enjoyed them coming to a place of friendship and eventual brotherhood, but I just didn't care.
The undercurrent of the nativity scene play was so not important to the story other than to set the scene for angst to build between Klaus and Ivy, and I wish this dynamic had been given space to develop in a more dynamic, interesting setting, because this otherwise was not quite Christmas-y sans nativity scene play.
I'm not giving up on Jasper, but I'm glad I got this one out of the way first!
This Christmas novella is a quick and cute read. The interactions of the two MMC’s will make you smile one minute and then fan yourself the next. It is a nice blend of a sweet single parent romance with a dash spice. Ivy’s internal dialogue had me smiling. “Peaches” had me cracking up. (You will have to read it to see what I mean.)
As with other books written by this author, the story is well developed, the writing is crisp, easy to follow, and the characters are wonderful. If you want a warm Christmas novella on a cold winter’s afternoon, this is the book for you.
I knew I was going to like Ivy when she said her nemesis was a 5 yo. That's right. It's totally normal to have beef with the kid who's messing with your kid. Don't worry, no children were harmed, and they got it settled. This book was truly a romcom with a funny bathroom meet cute.
Besides, Ivy's very hilarious internal dialogue what I loved reading was how much Archie was loved on so he could be a soft and affectionate Black boy 🥹 that principal can step on a Lego.
CN: microagressions from a school administrator, absentee parents
Such a cute, quick Christmas novella. The relationship between the two main characters is hot and fast, but that’s what I want out of a short book like this. I still felt like it developed well and the mmc was swoon worthy. The representation of the deaf community with a hard of hearing character was also great and something I don’t see often enough.
Absolute perfection. This was so sweet & precious. Of course the spice was fantastic. I could have read about these 2 and their kids for 200 more pages. Ivy going through the motions and taking the leap and realizing Klaus is her person I almost cried. I really loved this could not recommend more & it’s a novella!
Single parent stories always get me right in the feels, and this book was no exception. Max and Archie were so adorable and that epilogue was especially precious when it came to them. I will say that the premise of mistaken bullying causing the 2 parents to essentially be the creative directors for the school's Christmas play was strange. But other than that, this was so cozy and sweet.
Cute Christmastime novella featuring farmer’s markets, and the five-year-old nemesis turned out to be a non-issue (though something could be said about the five-year-old girl who started it). Filled with sweetness and a surprising amount of spice!
