A Gift Like This

Rate this book
Two enemies, a snowstorm, and one gift they never saw coming…

I’ve been at odds with Dylan Jenner Garrett for years. My one wish this Christmas is to never have to see his irritatingly handsome face ever again. If I get the promotion we’re both vying for, my wish will come true, and I’ll finally be on my merry way.

On our last day as interns at the same commercial real estate firm, we’re tasked with delivering holiday gifts and cheer to various clients.

It should be easy enough, but the day takes an unexpected turn in more ways than one when a snowstorm knocks us onto a detour to nowhere. Our only option is to share one bed at a B and B.

I’d laugh over our ridiculous predicament, but something’s happening with Dylan. I’m surprised to find I've been very wrong about him.

He’s funny and considerate. His smirk is charming, and his gray eyes hold far more than shallow promises. It's time I admit that we have—gulp—chemistry.

One cup of hot cocoa leads to two confessions, which escalates into shedding our proverbial walls, along with our clothes.

I catch feelings, and so does he.

We started the day as enemies, but we wake up on Christmas Eve as so much more. It’s a gift that wasn’t on my list this year, but I’m not one to dismiss a good thing when it comes smirking.

There’s just one problem—the promotion. Will it stand in the way of our happy ending?

A Gift Like This is a standalone romantic comedy that delivers on banter, steam, and holiday feels. This novella is a quick and fun read that'll have you smiling and swooning. Curl up with this cozy Christmas romance today!

I know what I get myself into when I start short books but still, I feel we were lacking so many elements for me to actually care about the development of their relationship. The beginning was good but the rest of the story wasn't, not really. Specially considering that they're supposed to be adults, and why would two adults not communicate when they have a problem? All these years of being "enemies" wouldn't have happened if the guy ahd asked one (1) simple question.
Long story short, I didn't buy any of the characters, nor their development of a relationship. Cute moments and short but not very fullfilling.

a mini, Christmas themed The Hating Game

a mini, Christmas themed The Hating Game, that’s exactly what this book it, but I’m honestly not mad about it. It was cute and light and fun and felt warm and fuzzy for the holiday season. I loved that it’s a little novella and I didn’t have to commit to a whole book

holiday novella

Enemies to lovers, only the H doesn’t know why the h has hated him since their freshman college year. Competing as interns for the full time position. Stuck overnight in a snowstorm while delivering company Christmas presents gives them a chance to share grievances and clear misunderstandings. Cute ending. It’s a simple novella but Georgia Coffman makes it work and gives it a little more depth than expected. My only complaint was she has both characters “work their jaw back and forth” on no less than 6 occasions in this short story. Who does that, especially an attractive female (unless you’ve been punched in the jaw lol)? Seriously, stop with the jaw working! No one does that over and over and I found it a big distraction as I started counting how many times it happened ( you could make a drinking game out of it). Where’s the editor or honest beta readers? Sorry for the rant but it was a distraction and I hope the author reads it and takes notice.

I liked the story. But, I didn’t like how her personality was made to be a negative thing (I am like her. So, I didn’t appreciate it).
Also, why didn’t they communicate. They are adults. Aren’t they? They could have saved the energy and all that (I know there wouldn’t be a story in that case. But, there are a million alternatives). What I am trying to say is that they sounded childish to me. Because I had been in their place once and I had a nemesis that I thought I hated and we are good friends now. But, that was in high school and now I am 21 years old and this sounds so childish to me.

Very short sweet enemies to lovers holiday novella. I love how quick and easy it was to read. The problem is like most novellas especially around November and December I’m literally reading them to one get into the holiday vibes, two read and distract myself from the crazy stuff in the world and three hit my reading goals. I think this could’ve been longer and unfortunately I just don’t think I’ll remember or read it again. That’s not a dig at the book or anything it’s just something about these little novellas they get you in the moment give you all the feels and then it’s time to move on.

This novella would have been 4 stars was it not for the constant use of the other characters full names.
Whenever it was Meredith’s chapters, we’d see DJ’s full names, and vice versa. And it may be a very specific ick to have about a book, but it just bugged me too much to be able to ignore it.
Other than that, it was a great plot and I did enjoy it.

Short fun enemies to lovers' holiday novella. DJ and Meredith have a moment in college, and then we find them interning at the same firm as they are beginning their careers. I enjoyed the premise of the story, even finding the slight that started the feud flimsy, the rest of the story was amusing.

What a sweet novella! This was well developed even for being so short. This is a great example of a novella that gets to right. The characters are developed enough that you’re invested in them. And the chemistry is enough to get a spark.

This is worth a read!

This was cute but there wasn’t enough backstory given for the romance to make sense.

From college to internship this is a good enemies to lovers novella. Forced proximity, snow storm, one bed and misunderstanding leads to giving in and feeling what was always there.

cute

Nice to listen to a cute little novella sometimes. Meredith and Dylan were the perfect couple. Love how they felt real when I listened to their journey of friendship.

It wasn't bad, but I wanted more backstory or more bickering between the two main characters. The smutty parts were almost nonexistent. I wanted more.
