Lockett Links has been raised to always strive for more. Bred in beautiful Sundance, IL, the aspiring cartoonist concentrates on setting records and accomplishing goals that will allow her to comfortably love Kable Kuffs.
Though rough around the edges, Kable is set on proving he’s worth more than the dreary streets he resides on and even more committed to showing Lockett he’s capable of maintaining the life she’s accustomed to. Unfortunately, being pulled between family and friends, savior and savage, may create a wedge too deep to reconcile. Will distance, deceitful parties, and the arrival of a smooth businessman create a bounty for Lockett’s love that Kable can’t afford?

4 for Lockett and Kable's romance, history, and journey alone. While .5 star for Kable's declaration to Maia! I cried with that part because it was so sweet.
The twists and turns Wynta Tyme put in this book, some of them I did put the pieces together as soon as the situation was presented to me. However, there were a good amount of twists that came unexpectedly. I fully went into this book expecting a second chance romance but came out with more than that! Whew buddy. Good read though, I enjoyed Lockett and Kable's determination and love for each other.
This was a good read I wasn’t t quite sure where it was leading too but I wasn’t expecting that twist…Kable live him some Lockett and she loved him but life got in the way and just when Kable thought he could breathe life stated lifing I didn’t understand how Lockett was okay with Tarah leaving Maia and starting a whole other family with Chris and once they were stable why didn’t they take her back or at least parent her and no poor Rosary kew the deal but had to drag her friend In it leaving out the whole truth ….I kind of understood how Peedy and Lockett started having feelings for each other just him looking out and both missing Kable k get but she couldn’t cross that line fully cause her heart belonged to Kable…..there were so many twist and turns but it was crafted so well the secondary characters were just as interesting but I wanted a epilogue or something I became to invested
This was definitely a slow moving story. Their journey started 8n 8th grade and carried them into their 30's. Lockett and Kable both had many layers to peel off them, obstacles to get over, baggage to get rid of, and misunderstandings cleared up.
Lessons learned were people you think are your friends may not be, you love who you love, and people from different sides of the track doesn't mean you're not a good fit.
A little too much going on for me, especially starting at such a young age.
I really wanted to enjoy this book but it was all over the place. I think it had potential to be a good story about the hardships of young black girls/boys trying to find their way while being poor, not having the best home environment, and also abandonment but this was not written well in my opinion. I love a good plot twist but at least make it make sense. What really threw me off is Lockett being all hugged up with Tarah who was living her best life after so many years yet Rosary gets kicked to the curb??? As I stuck it out to the end it didn’t get any better.
In this well written, second chance romance, we are introduced to Lockett and Kable. Two individuals from different sides of the tracks who fell in love and went through many obstacles to finally get together. The character development was simply awesome. Man secrets were revealed and lives were changed. Great storyline!
Chris and Tarah were bogus and nobody addressed their situation. They left, got married and had even more kidsss! Thennnn “DollDace” had Maia calling her mom and I just didn’t agree with that! She had 2 parents why didn’t they come back for her? Other than that I thought the read was good but I hate deadbeats! It’s a trigger for me…
Everyone doesn't get a second chance at love, but when you do, you have to make the best of it. Lay it bear like Kable did. Sometimes, they choose to try again, and sometimes, they choose to leave it where it is. Can the love Kable and Lockett once shared stand through the test of time, distance, heartbreak, growth, and secrets?
Babee I was so glad I took a chance on this book. All her books have these twists and turns and I was scared. This was definitely a rollercoaster read that I didn’t want to end.
Kable and Lockeet was not supposed to be together but the love between them was so strong, through all the pain and hurt they went through they still came out on top . Wonderful book
