One Last Promise

Rate this book
Moose (Arlo) Mulligan's biggest grief propelled him into the world of Search and Rescue. After years as a former Navy Rescue Chopper pilot, he returned home to start Air One Rescue—and made a name for himself. He loves his job, his life, and his routines…which include breakfast at the Skyport, at the table of Tillie Young. She’s sweet, and pretty, but Moose has no room in his life for anything more.

And then, Tillie shows up, beaten and desperate…and needs his help.

Tillie Young never thought her ex would track her to Alaska—but somehow he’s found her, and when he kidnaps her daughter, she’ll do anything to get her back. Even enlist help from her favorite grumpy rescuer at table three, Moose Mulligan.

But Moose is no match for a former MMA boxer, and possible child trafficker, right?

Maybe, maybe not, but he’s not going to let another child go missing on his watch. Worse—when Moose finds himself accused as the kidnapper, there’s no way back. Now, he must find the girl, keep Tillie safe and outwit a man fueled by revenge. It will take all of Moose’s Alaskan savvy to protect them, and keep them alive…but who is going to protect him from the love he never saw coming?

Set in the treacherous Alaskan backwoods, it's a heart-pounding tale of survival, love, and the family Moose never anticipated.

I can't help be amazed at the gifts God has delighted me with - a wonderful husband, four amazing children, and the opportunity to write for Him.

I've been writing as long as I can remember - I won my first book writing contest in first grade! Over the years, writing has become, for me, a way to praise God and see Him at work in my life.

Although I have a degree in Mass Communications from the University of MN, my real writing experience started when I penned the The Warren Report - a bi-monthly newsletter that detailed our ministry highlights.

Living in Russia meant I never lacked for great material - and those experiences naturally spilled out first into devotionals and magazine articles and finally into my first published story, "Measure of a Man," in the Tyndale/HeartQuest, Chance Encounters of the Heart anthology.

Susan and husbandI grew up in Wayzata, a suburb of Minneapolis, and became an avid camper from an early age. My favorite fir-lined spot is the north shore of Minnesota - it's where I met my husband, honeymooned and dreamed of living. The north woods easily became the foundation for my first series, The Deep Haven series.based on a little tourist town along the shores of Lake Superior. I have to admit - I'm terribly jealous of Mona, the heroine of my first full-length book, Happily Ever After, a Christy Award Finalist published in 2004 with Tyndale/Heartquest.

Our family moved home from the mission field in June 2004 -- and now we live in the beautiful town I'd always dreamed of! God has amazed me anew with His provision, and blessings -- and allowed me a season when I can write full time for Him.

I 'm delighted you've stopped in to visit. My hope is that you'll be blessed and encouraged by soul-stirring stories of regular people interacting with a God who loves them.

I'd love to hear from you! I love getting mail, especially from readers and I welcome your questions and comments. Write to me at susan@susanmaywarren.com. And, if you're interested, sign up for my newsletter, a quarterly sneak peek into upcoming releases and projects. Thank you for your interest and support.

God Bless and Happy Reading!

“…. he was her hero but also her friend, and the man who kept his promises.“

I have been waiting for Moose and Tillie’s story ever since their sweet friendship captured my heart in book one of this series with their late night ‘after rescue’ chats in the diner where Tillie waitressed. While Moose is utterly besotted with Tillie, she keeps him at a guarded but friendly distance, and I couldn’t wait to learn her personal story. I had a feeling (because, hello, this is Susan May Warren after all) that Tillie’s secrets would be game-changing. And then after that dramatic ending to book two, I started salivating for One Last Promise even more than I already was.

And ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my goodness, it was everything I hoped for and so much more! Moose is such a good guy, a rescuer at heart, and a true hero… unless you ask him. Because, true to human nature, he is riddled with guilt over the times he didn’t live up to his heroic status, the promises he wasn’t able to keep, regardless of the aspects that were out of his control. I already loved Moose, but I came to appreciate him even more in One Last Promise as I learned more of his backstory and spiritual journey. Warren skillfully positions Moose to grow further in his faith over the course of this novel, and I love how the truths he’s introducing to Tillie are the same truths he needs reminding to apply to his own circumstances – that God promises to be with us in trouble, that God is for us, that trusting God brings peace, and that we aren’t meant to bear our burdens alone. Honestly, Susan May Warren gave this beloved hero the perfect story.

And Tillie… wow! I knew there would be intriguing and heartbreaking dimensions to her backstory but I had no idea what an amazing – or fiercely strong – person she would end up being. Just when I thought we had uncovered all the layers to her character, Warren surprised me with a new one, inevitably leaving me even more in awe of this heroine. I’m sure my jaw dropped on multiple occasions while I was reading One Last Promise, and Tillie is the reason for most of my stunned (in a good way) reactions. Her faith journey on these pages is so moving, and I admit that it brought tears to my eyes a couple of times because of how tender it is. And watching her respond to Moose’s feelings for her?? Oh be still my heart (and bring me a fan)!

Bottom Line: One Last Promise is Susan May Warren at her best! Heart-in-your-throat suspense leaves you hardly daring to breathe as Moose and Tillie try to find the delicate balance between ‘stand and fight’ and ‘run for your life’. The stakes are high and deeply personal, and I couldn’t put it down until I knew how it would turn out. That ending though – how am I supposed to wait until October for London & Shep’s story?!? If it’s even half as riveting and emotional as Moose & Tillie’s was, this series will go out with a bang for sure. One Last Promise is such a heartfelt and tender love story – not just between Moose and Tillie but also between these two individuals and God. Another must-read from the master of romantic adventure suspense!

An exciting third installment in the Alaska Air One Rescue series!

I've been looking forward to reading Moose and Tillie's story since I read the first book in the series. Both Moose and Tillie were sympathetic characters with complex backstories that added to the plot. I enjoyed reading about the characters from the previous books in the series and am intrigued about Shep and London's upcoming book. I'm glad this series is being released quickly.

Plenty of high stakes, character development, romance, danger, and intrigue kept me reading right along. I appreciated that Susan May Warren kept both the romance and language clean, and the faith content added a nice touch. On a slightly picky note, I had a hard time picturing some of the action, but that very well could've been me.

Overall, One Last Promise was an attention-grabbing read that I'd recommend to those who love Christian fiction, romance, and adventure stories.

Disclosure: I received this book free from Revell through Interviews & Reviews. The opinions I have expressed are my own, and I was not required to write a positive review. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission’s 16 CFR, Part 255.

One Last Promise is the third book in the Alaska Air One Rescue series and characters do appear from the previous books. However, I think readers could still jump in and enjoy this book even if they haven’t read the first two stories.

Tillie was a woman who was strong, yet overwhelmed. She did what she felt needed to be done, but sometimes she reacted impulsively out of fear. She definitely had some well founded trust issues, which hindered her ability to trust in God and also to trust Moose.

Moose worked hard to save people, not only in his job, but also in his regular life. He wanted to help Tillie not only because he cared about her, but because she needed his help. But even though he trusted God, he sometimes had trouble letting go of his hold on a situation in order to give it to God to guide him through.

I really enjoyed this story. Moose and Tillie struggled in their growing affection for each other. They both had valid concerns, but also felt a deep connection to each other. They had situations to overcome that sometimes put them on the opposite side of what the law said was right. Even though Tillie reacted to things by running and trying to get away from a situation, I appreciated that Moose kept persevering in trying to help her and her daughter.

I’m looking forward to the final book in the series.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

One of the things I love about Susan May Warren's books is the way her heroes and heroines are so real. They aren't perfect characters and they aren't cardboard characters. That is so true with One Last Promise. Moose is such a great hero. He's been a key part of the earlier books in the series and I was READY for his story. Tillie has been more of a bit character in earlier books -- I was curious to know more, and the layers were so rich for her. Both of these people are broken and yet wanting more for themselves and each other. They are heroic and self-sacrificing. The romance goes in starts and stops, but it needs to. And the way the other characters from the series are woven in is great. The suspense thread was good, but it was really the romance that kept me engaged in One Last Promise.

ONE LAST PROMISE, the third book in Susan May Warren's popular Alaska Air One Rescue series, features Moose Mulligan, a former Navy rescue chopper pilot now leader of a successful search and rescue team and Tillie Young, the mysterious waitress Moose can't get out of his head even though she disappears without a trace after turning down his request for a date. Moose is shocked when Tillie shows up on his doorstop, savagely beaten and begging for his help in rescuing her kidnapped daughter, Hazel, from an evil man from her past. Moose promises to bring her daughter home safely and with his SAR Team covering his back, he begins a search that quickly spirals out of control. As the story progresses, readers learn there's more to the kidnapping than Tillie admits to, putting everyone involved in dire danger; however, Moose gave his word and while he's failed before, this time failure is not an option.

Author Susan May Warren expertly draws readers in and keeps them on high alert from beginning to end in her latest high-octane, action-packed thriller. The Alaskan wilderness provides a dramatic, breath-taking backdrop for the action exploding on each page, while a torrid pace keeps readers fully engaged in the tautly delivered plot line. Main and support characters are authentic and supportive, welcoming readers into their lives. Rounding out the suspense thriller vibes, a sweet, emotional romance ignites despite Moose and Tillie's reluctance to commit to a relationship before each settles their disturbing pasts.

ONE LAST PROMISE is a well-plotted, highly entertaining romance suspense story with strong Christian themes woven throughout. Characters are repeatedly challenged to trust in their faith while looking to a higher power for answers to prayers. Fans of romance suspense with strong Christian overtones will enjoy this book.

Gah, I love Moose. He's been one of my favorite SMW heroes this whole series. Maybe because he's similar in personality to Fraser (the pinnacle of all SMW heroes)?

Moose Mulligan has hidden his attraction to waitress Tillie Young for over a year, but when she disappears after he asks her out, he gives up on the idea that anything could ever work between them. Besides that, a lawsuit for the death of a woman whom his team could not rescue because of a blizzard and an unkept promise which could mean the end of Alaska Air Rescue One hang heavy on his heart.

When Tillie, beaten and terrified, shows up at his door, he and his team go into action to rescue her daughter Hazel from a former MMA champ who is Tillie's ex. Or is he? Some elements of Tillie's story don't add up. She has skills Moose can't explain. Big amounts of money are missing. The ex has connections to drug smuggling and other crimes. Moose gets accused of an attempted murder he didn't commit, and Tillie wants to grab Hazel and run.

Warren packs a lot of excitement into book three of Alaska Air One Rescue. She also develops her characters well, though there's some overlap in traits. It was a hard book to put down with avalanches, fights, kidnapping, and raids. Christian growth is a big part of the story. No sexual immorality occurs in the story and not bad language.

A fast-paced suspense novel that has great twists and turns! It's time for Moose & Tilly's story. A friendship has grown out of late night conversations at the diner where Tilly works and Moose took a leap to ask her out. But she's taken off and he's left wondering what's up. Then suddenly she's back and with a major issue - and Moose is a fixer. But can he fix this? You won't want to miss Book 3!

Actual rating: 3.5 stars.

One Last Promise picks up right where One Last Chance ended. This is story of Moose, owner and boss of Alaska Air One Rescue. When the woman he loves goes missing, he does everything in his power to find her, but to no avail. Instead, she shows up on his doorstep, battered and bleeding and asking for help. Her daughter has been taken. This is a bombshell, as Moose didn’t even know she had a daughter. But processing this new information will have to come later, because right now Moose has a little girl to rescue.

Tillie is so much more than the waitress Moose fell for. She is running from a lot and hiding even more. Unfortunately, her past has caught up with her. She's so much tougher and more skilled than anyone in her new life would have guessed, but she’s also dealing with a lot of insecurities. Which is something she and Moose have in common. Moose just doesn't always recognize his insecurities.

Moose, like his younger brother Axel, takes the weight of the world on his shoulders, though in a different way. He carries a lot of suppressed guilt, and feels responsible for everything and everyone. Again, this is something else he and Tillie have in common. Both struggle with feeling that they don't deserve good things.

Unsurprisingly, one of the biggest themes is promises: the lengths you sometimes go to in order to keep them, and the guilt you suffer when you break them, in spite of your best intentions. The faith in this particular installment felt a little less organic and a little more forced. But it’s still lovely and important. An actual presentation of the Gospel was included here.

As much as I like Moose and Tillie, I found their book to be the weakest in the series. It felt rushed and less tightly written than the two preceding books. And it ends on a truly awful cliffhanger, so make sure you have a copy of the last book in the series, One Last Stand, on hand whenever you pick this one up.

Buckle up, because One Last Promise is one crazy ride – and you’re gonna be in it until the very end! Susan May Warren is a genius plotter – or maybe a maniacal, genius plotter? – but either way, she knows how to put her characters through the ringer and to bring them out the other side with you cheering them on, and that’s exactly what she does in One Last Promise.

Only there will be a few unforeseen twists and turns along the way, along with some glorious truths, a few really bad guys, and some lines we should all have embroidered on pillows.

I love the way that Tillie is just full of surprises. Every time I thought I had her measure something new popped out! Figuring out who she really is was a lot of fun.

Moose was even more so. He’s big, he’s helpful, he’s humble, and he wants to hold things together for the people he loves. Seeing him fall deeper into grace is a wonderful thing – he’s a new favorite character for me.

But the action? It’s not all about helicopters and explosions in this one – though, of course, One Last Promise has those, too. Warren plumbs new styles of heart-stopping action in this story, and you’re going to love it.

So put One Last Promise on your TBR list and make sure you’re all caught up on the Alaska Air One Rescue series, because this book has it all: romance, drama, suspense, survival, action, and some really, really bad guys – and you’re not going to want to wait a minute longer than necessary to get reading. It’s definitely a top read of 2024 for me.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever made a promise and not been able to fulfill it? Moose feels he’s failed in so many ways. But he’s the kind of guy who will try with all that is within him to keep his promises. He can’t stop!
In this new book by Susan May Warren, we are taken back to Alaska. It's packed full, and the action is jaw-dropping and non-stop. The way Susan May Warren describes the mountains in Alaska and the action will leave you feeling you’re right there with each step. There are also tender, sweet moments with the many individuals in this series. I personally enjoyed reading some connections to other characters from past series that Susan May Warren has written. It’s always fun to reconnect with past characters from her other books. It’s like we know them, and they are family.
I think I will continue to apply this disclaimer to all my reviews from now on:
I'm at a loss for eloquent words to convey the depth of emotions and feelings I get each time I pick up one of Susan May Warren's books. In each of her books, I find wonderful life lessons about the love of God, woven in such a way that it is genuine and not fake or pushed.
Whatever Ms. Warren writes, I'll read because I know I'll be captivated and blessed in a life-changing way.
The publisher gave me this book, but this did not influence my review in any way; all thoughts and opinions are my own.

One Last Promise by Susan May Warren features Moose and Tilllie as they learn more about Tillie and her daughter’s Hazel’s background. From Alaska to Florida, characters are on the run from their past. Like the previous books in this series, plenty of action, romance, familiar faces and family members. Warren introduces the characters that will lead off the next book in the series. This series is wonderful. I have a hard time putting the book down. I am so invested in the characters’ lives and their plight that I need to see what happens. I want them to have their happily ever after moment. Especially considering all the struggles that they have gone through. I recommend readers of Susan May Warren or high action novels read these stories.

I had no idea there was so much more to Tillie who served Moose pie and milkshakes but never judge someone by appearances!

The first two books in the Alaska Air One Rescue gave clues to Moose's saviour complex and his need to want to protect those he loved around him, especially the woman he loves. Tillie may have surprised him a time or two but Moose much like God remained faithful to his promise that he would keep her safe. Recommended! Onto the next one with Shep and London when it is available on Kindle Unlimited.

Since the cliffhanger ending in One Last Chance, I couldn’t wait to read Moose and Tillie’s story in One Last Promise.

It was suspenseful and action packed from the start. There was limited rescue needed by the Air One team, this plot was more on trying to keep Tillie safe from someone from her past.

True to Susan May Warren, the lessons learned by the characters were true to their pasts and personal struggles. I always appreciate this, since it helps me connect more with the characters, their struggles being realistic, and being able to take the lessons learned home.

During this book, the author set up the plot for the last book in the series, London and Seth’s and I have a feeling it is one where once started will not let you go.

One Last Promise

by Susan May Warren

Book 3 in the Alaska Air One Rescue series

Rating: 4.5/5

Wow! This series keeps getting better and better! The earlier books helped set up this story but it was unnecessary because the author gives great background so you can definitely read as a standalone. However, I still recommend reading the first two books in this series because they are excellent adventure rides. There's something about books set in Alaska that have an added element of suspense and I am here for it. ;) The author has a beautiful way of weaving in her faith to this intense story. I absolutely enjoyed this nonstop thriller with some beautiful characters who share their struggles and triumphs. I also appreciate a story with action, romance and mystery without any cursing or explicit scenes.

Highly recommend this wonderful story of love, redemption and rescue.

My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.

For the past year, Moose Mulligan has gone to the Skyport Diner after a rescue with his Air One Rescue team. Tillie Young was his waitress until a month ago when she disappeared. Now, she has shown up on his doorstep, beaten and asking for help finding her missing daughter.

One Last Promise is the third Alaska Air One Rescue book by Susan May Warren. I have been looking forward to Moose's story since the beginning of the series. This contemporary romance was nonstop action from Alaska to Florida. It was great having Colt included. I had missed him in the previous books. I'm excited for the final one.

I received a free Kindle copy of this book. I volunteered to read it and write a review. I purchased a paperback edition as well.

Awesome series!

This series just keeps getting better with each book! Moose has been a favorite since the first book, and his story did not disappoint. Tillie also had several surprises that will keep you guessing what is true until the very end.

Can't wait to read the final book in this amazing series!

Once again, Susan has weaved an enticing blend of action/adventure, growing emotions/romance, and personal growth/faith. I never felt overwhelmed by the action or the number of characters. I was interested in who Tillie was before she was a waitress and enjoyed the growing feelings between Moose and Tillie. I especially liked the climactic scene. Unfortunately, I found the ending a bit lacking. We don’t get to see Moose and Tillie and her daughter together in their HEA as a family; instead, the next-to-last chapter is one where she accompanies him to meet someone who gives him closure on an issue from his past. Also, his other issue (which has to do with a lawsuit) is not resolved during this story. (Also, without giving anything away, I wanted more with Tillie’s father.) The final chapter really should be a teaser, as that’s what it is, for the next book. It felt like the author was in a rush to ‘sell’ me on the next book rather than give me the really heartfelt ending with the couple the book is about.

Another great read from Susan. I absolutely love these characters. With each new series I don't think I can love her couples and characters anymore...but I do! I did find parts of Tillie's story a little hard to follow every once in a while. It didn't make me not want to continue...just felt a little convoluted.
However, she is a wonder woman and exactly what Moose needs.
My one disappointment is I wish there had been a better resolution for Tillie and Moose's story. I'm sure we are supposed to read between the lines and maybe get more info in the next one. But I would have liked a little more detail on how everything ended up.
also, I could have used a few more kisses-haha!

This series is like a run on sentence...which pains me to say because I usually LOVE her books. But the characters are surface level, they jump around with entirely too many side characters (from previous, and I'm sure future, books). It just doesn't have the character depth and story arc that her other series are so good at. I'll read book 4 to finish it out, but wondering what she's changed in her writing/editing, and hoping it's not going to be the norm for her books moving forward.

“A fast paced story of hope, trust and faith in the one who is Sovereign over all, especially when we can't see it! This story is laced with hope and a strong message of God's sovereign plan and how putting our trust in Him is always a good idea.”

“Because people who hoped kept fighting. Kept staying the course. Kept reaching out with their whole hearts. That was called faith. And maybe he was here to help her see it. ‘Tillie. You don't have to trust God. Yet. But I think he's trying to get your attention too. To show you that, even when life seems to pull out from under you, you're not alone.’”

"I've been given a lot, Axel. I just want to honor that." Axel took a step toward him. "I know. But there is your portion, and there is God's portion, and it seems like you're having a hard time figuring out the difference."

“None of us deserve grace. But when we get it, we pass it along.”

"God tells us to pray that we'll lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. We don't do that because our lives are actually calm. But our spirit can be. And we can respond in a godly way to our circumstances. Anyone can see that you're in up to your chin here, and the water is rising."

“What if there is a different perspective? What kind of perspective? Faith. Faith that God knows what he's doing. That he loves you, even in the pain. Faith that everything, for someone who trusts God, works together for good."

"It's complicated. I know. But if you want to follow God's plan-and I can guarantee you that he has a plan here-you can't panic. And you can't fight without the armor of God. And that starts with the shield of faith guarding your heart."

"You can't know what to do without praying first.” Moose ran a hand across his mouth. "Yeah. You're right. I just... I can't seem to hear God with all the clutter in my head." "The what-ifs." How- Moose stared at him. "I've been there." Axel shrugged. "If you want to do the right thing here, you need to stop listening to all the lies and start listening to the truth."

"The other side of faith is panic. And panic always leads to bad decisions,”

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." London said quietly. Moose looked at her. London met his gaze, her voice soft. "What we forget about those verses is the first part. Come to me. Believe me. Believe in my unfailing love. Unfailing. You do not need to rescue the world, Moose, because Jesus already has. You cannot fail him, because you already have, and he's already redeemed you. So get over yourself."

“Sometimes God asks us to get involved. Sometimes he asks us to wait. And all the time, he goes with us, even if we do stupid things. The key is to not go alone."

“If you've taught me anything, it's that God does miracles. That he surprises us with more than we can ask or imagine.”

“But your promises are going to get you into trouble. You can’t save everyone. That’s not your job,” Moose is told in Susan May Warren’s novel, One Last Promise.

~ What ~
The third book in the Alaska Air One Rescue series, this three-hundred-and-five-page paperback targets those who like a Christian contemporary romance about being on a rescue team in the Alaska wilderness while learning about faith and trust. The topics of illness, fighting, injuries, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. The ending includes a teaser of the next book in the series, a note to the reader, the author’s biography, and advertisements.

In this third book in the series, team leader and chopper pilot Moose is at a loss when his favorite waitress Tillie abruptly leaves his small Alaskan town. But when she returns to his doorstep battered and bruised, he promises her that he will protect her, even if it means tracking down her kidnapped seven-year-old child. As the team steps up their game to find the little girl, both Moose and Tillie must learn to have faith in each other and trust God to direct their paths.

~ Why ~
This is a fast and furious read of a band of rescuers who are loyal and supportive to each other, no matter what the cost. I enjoyed the interaction between Moose and Tillie and how they confided and built a relationship around trust. The well-described, breathtaking Alaskan backwoods pops out of the pages.

~ Why Not ~
Some may not like a faith-based story that involves trusting God. Others may not care for the many characters, including those from other series. I found some parts corny and over-written, especially when house designs and decor were described. A couple of times, I wondered why Tillie didn’t mention missing her girl.

~ Wish ~
Although there are prayers to God and quoted Bible verses, the author missed the perfect opportunity to give the eternal plan of salvation instead of repeatedly mentioning to simply have faith and trust God. I wish it included one needs to admit they are sinners, believe Jesus died on the cross for all sin, and confess He is Lord of your life. I prefer all pronouns of the Almighty capitalized for reverence. A list of characters would be helpful.

If you are into contemporary Christian romance series located mostly in Alaska, this is a promising story, but I, sadly, struggled with so much going on at the same time.

If strong steadfast heroes, daring damsels-in-distress, and dramatic insurmountable odds are your thing, I PROMISE you will love this book!

And can I just take a minute, let out a long, lengthy sigh, and say: Aw, Moose. (insert swoon emoji here.) He’s everything a hero should be and then some (the whole bag of chips). And boy, have I been waiting for his story (let me tell you, Susie May delivered!)

And, (sigh)…Tillie. So many surprises, one after the other, in her backstory. Susie really knows how to create a character that we will all fall in love with. And boy did I - Tillie’s brave, selfless, and tougher than nails.

I bookmarked and highlighted so many passages in this book, but I (really) did try to narrow it down a little. So, here are my (fav) Notable Quotables:
- Moose leaned his head back against the rock. “Ever hear the story of Jonah?” “From the Bible? The guy in the fish?” “Mm-hmm.” He closed his eyes. “This, my friend, is a warning. Welcome to the whale.”
- And just hearing him laugh made her want to weep, a rush of light and warmth through her.
- Tillie smiled. And it was as if he heard God speaking very, very clearly. “Let not your heart be troubled.”
- He wrapped his arms around her. And right then, she didn’t care why. . . . All she knew was that Moose was here. And if Moose was here, maybe hope was too.
- She kissed him—hard, her arms around his neck, pulling him against her, kissing him because he was her hero but also her friend, and the man who kept his promises. Moose.

Aw. Moose. The hero of the heroes of this series. The one they all look up to and try to emulate. And wow…his story. Heartfelt and honest and soooo much more than I expected. Thank you, Susie May, for every nuance, every little detail, every single moment that made this story shine. You went above and beyond for our hero Moose and I will come back and read this one over and over, for a long time to come.

Anyone out there still wasting time reading my long review? Please do yourself a favor, stop what you are doing, and scroll to your favorite retailer to one-click this story. You’ll be so glad you did!

Let me start off this review by sharing the aspect I appreciated about this story the most: The faith message. It was actually important to the whole story, and added such a meaningful perspective on the whole novel. I liked how the characters were not perfect in their faith, and they definitely struggled with trusting God at times, but that is realistic. And they still came back to God. I just find that even Christian fiction now-adays is lacking much of a Christian message, and so it is so refreshing to me when it is actually included in a story beyond just a brief mention of a character praying or something.
Besides that, I enjoyed getting to know the characters and following along with the plot. There was plenty of suspense, and also romantic tension (without being too "spicy" as the new term goes), and I liked seeing how it all wove together.
Some things I found a little repetitive of other books by this author, but it was still a good story. I do wish the end would've given just a little more of a wrap-up moment between the two main characters, Moose and Tillie, instead of jumping to Shep and London. Don't get me wrong, I am interested in Shep and London's story too! I just thought Moose and Tillie's story ended just a little abruptly.
"One Last Promise" is the third book in the Alaska Air One Rescue Series - I admit I jumped right in with this one since I didn't have time to catch up on the previous two. And while there are definitely recurring characters, and plots too, I'm sure, I didn't struggle too much to get into this one or felt like I was missing out on huge plot points, etc.
Oh and I liked how Moose learned that he couldn't make all the promises - and that is okay.
Hopefully I can catch up on the other books in this series soon!

One Lat Promise by Susan May Warren was an excellent read. This Christian Suspense Mystery will leave you wanting more by the page. IT is full of faith references that will make you feel like you are living it out with the characters.

Moose is the main male character of this book and he is the hero, but he has regrets from his past that tend to get in the way of what he really wants to do. However, he has forgotten that some of these situations were completely out of his control. The mistakes of his past really get to him, but he seems to forget that most , if ot all of them were out of his control.

When his favorite waitress, Tillie, who happens to be the main female character in this story, shows up beaten and bloody, he is angry at the person who did this to her. Tillie disappeared for some time and Moose did not know where she was, so when she shows up he is happy, but then he sees her in her beat up condition. Tillie had to go away to try to protect her daughter from he ex. Moose decides that he can not sit n the sidelines, he must do something even if it will be very difficult.

This story had more going on that appears at first glance. more complex than it first appeared. It is a perfect blend of suspense and action/mystery with a romance that seems to be budding. Moose has no problem sharing his faith and trying to make Tillie realize that leaning on God will give her some measure of peace.

This book is an emotionally charged from beginning to end. The characters are very realistic and it seems that we can identify with them. I did not want the story to end. G out and get this book, out will not be disappointed.

Another great romantic suspense from one of the masters in the Christian fiction genre.

Moose Mulligan was in the Navy and lived for the thrill of it all. After he got out, he returned home and started up Air One Rescue to help others and maybe find a life for himself. He has a habit of going to the local diner for breakfast but also to see Tillie Young. When Tillie shows up at his door, beaten and in need of help, Moose and his friends jump right in. Tillie needs help after her daughter has been kidnaped by her ex, a former MMA fighter who also trained Tillie. One problem after another arises as they hunt down a kidnapper and try to get out of the situation alive.

This is the third book in the Alaska Air One Rescue series and might just be my favorite of the series so far. Tillie started as a meek little character but turned into one that was able to do so much more than expected. Her fighting was fun to read with her MMA background and the way she fought for her family was very well done. Fighting sequences can be hard, either they turn out brilliantly or laughable. As the years have gone by Susan May Warren has really improved in her ability to write these scenes and I enjoy reading them. The relationship between Moose and Tillie was written at just the right speed, they obviously had feelings for each other, but it wasn’t rushed in a way that made me roll my eyes. I know that fans of romantic suspense, and especially if they have been following this series will not want to miss this one.

Moose is a hero in every sense of the word, but he is his own worst enemy. He has past regrets regarding promises that he feels he did not keep. However, he has forgotten that some of these situations were completely out of his control. He beats himself up daily. He is a protector and rescuer. It is in his blood. In his mind failure is not an option.

When his favorite waitress, Tillie, shows up beaten and bloody, he is livid at the person who did this to her. Tillie had disappeared for a period of time. She confesses that her ex has shown up to take her daughter. He put her friend in the hospital. Moose's cape comes out. He is ready to take on the fight regardless of how difficult it may be.

This story was even more complex than it first appeared. There is a whole lot more below the surface that you will learn as you read. Tensions are high all around. It is a nearly perfect blend of suspense and action with a budding romance that will warm your heart.

Moose has no problem sharing his faith and trying to make Tillie realize that leaning on God will give her some measure of peace. This entire book is an emotional landmine from start to finish, which is what Susan May Warren does best. The characters are more realistic because we get a glimpse of the good, bad and ugly side to each of them. I did not want the story to end. Now we must wait for the next installment as we are left with another cliffhanger.

A fast paced episode in all things Alaska Air One!
.
I have really enjoyed the character of Moose over the series. I love me a loyal and devoted eldest brother hero. And I loved being able to read his story.
Book 2 left you hanging on what would happen next with the team and One Last Promise picks right back up. The action is nonstop, the stakes are high and the conclusion is rewarding.
Twist, turns, big reveals and new dangers await in One Last Promise.
.
I almost got more caught up in the secondary storyline of London and Shep then I did with Tillie and Moose.
And that ending has me excited and yet sad that there is only one book left in the series.
.
I think Tillie is a unique heroine. She was alway mysterious, and I thought her situation gave a unique spin to her and Moose's journey.
.
Moose was of course the adorable "teddy bear Cinnamon roll " that we know and love.
.
I loved the banter between Moose and Axel, as well as the faith tread woven into the story.
I love seeing characters go through hard things and ask the difficult questions about faith.
.
Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys romantic suspense!
