About the author

Guy Incognito

18 books
Guy Incognito is the pen name of an author who writes books for grownups that you shouldn't read until you're old enough to drive. Little is known about him, though there have been reports of a man with a very large nose who never stops talking. This man is also reported to loathe inferior Mexican food and if Internet rumors are true, has two nostrils in his nose. Anyone claiming to be Guy Incognito is clearly lying, since the true Guy would never admit to such a thing.

I haven’t read a middle-grade story in a long time, and as a self-proclaimed “grinch,” a Christmas story isn’t exactly what you’d expect to see me reading. So, in more than one way, this book shouldn’t work for me. But it did.

Santa Exposed or Santa Claus: Exposed (Only Read This if You Want to Know the Truth) is a middle-grade Christmas/Mystery story, following Josh and the coolest kid in class, Hollis Dawson, as they search for the REAL truth behind this whole Santa Claus thing.

The story reads at a similar reading level as Harry Potter and the Sorceror’s Stone, and I have to say, I think this is a good story to give to a child who is questioning whether or not Santa is real. Of course, I recommend reading it yourself first to make that judgment call, but for a lot of kids, this would work.

If you’re looking to share a story with your child this year, and your son or daughter is giving your local mall’s Santa that suspicious look, it might be time for Josh and Hollis to help them out with a little sleuthing.

*Full Disclosure — I work for the publisher. I wasn't paid to review this book. It was on my TBR list from before I worked for the publisher.*

Because the magic is in believing.

This is a lovely story of a boy on the cusp of belief and denial. Hoping it's true but afraid to be wrong. There are a few aspects that make it the story I don't want to tell my own children (such as a ten/eleven year old enticed out a window at midnight by a stranger, even if that stranger might be Santa) but the core message is wonderful and inspires me to write a version for my own family. I loved the interaction between Josh and Hollis and the gift of hope Josh gave his friend. It's something special to hold onto the magic and wonder, no matter how old you get. Yes, I do believe. :-)

Very nice book. I really thought it was going to specifically point out all the reasons why Santa couldn't be real. I like that it kept it a mystery cause that's what Santa is all about. Being generous selflessly .
Yes, I believe in Santa Claus.

I do believe

This book will spark some magic and nostalgia in your heart. That old familiar feeling we had as children growing up and wondering what Santa would bring us and if he does exist. Those feelings we lose as adults and only feel a tinge of at the holidays when we see that special sparkle of wonderment in a child's eyes.

This was a fun story about one child's search for the truth about Santa Clause. I am definitely going to wait for a decade or so before reading this to my daughter (or I suppose by that point letting her read it herself...)

This is a delightful book that brings back the joy and delight of the holiday and a general sense of wonder in the world.

If you're feeling in a less-than-holiday spirit, this book is the cure.

Excellent & fun reading from start to finish. Brought back a lot of memories of my mindset at time when I still believed in Santa Claus!
