Birdie, the tailor, moved to Fairvein to escape the shadows of her past, and the people are more than welcoming. However has found it difficult to integrate into the trusting and amiable community.
When she meets Maxwell, the local bookshop owner, he makes it clear that he doesn't like her and he doesn’t want her in Fairvein. She takes his hostility as a challenge to test The limits of his patience.
But when Birdie's past comes knocking on her door, and Maxwell offers reluctant assistance, the two start to feel sparks that may just go beyond their rivalry. Through inked pages and spools of thread, they may just find an unexpected romance.
For fans of the Mead and Mishaps Series, as well as The Tea Dragon Society!
Maxwell and Birdie? YES. Back in Fairvien and loving these cozy reads from the author! Also.. can I visit this bookshop please? I have received this ARC for an honest review, all thoughts/opinions above are my own.
A heartwarming page turner! A truly charming novela, short but dense. Having started from scratch myself, stranger among strangers, I could relate with Birdie and enjoy my journey in Farivein,a fabulous fantasy world with beautifully illustrated characters and settings. Birdie's smart, often humorous interactions with the the kind and trustworthy inhabitants and her sparkling romance with Maxwell left me craving for more. From now on Monroe Wildrose is my automatic read author; if she writes it, I'm going to read it and absolutely recommend you do the same!

I really enjoyed this one! I always love books that combine magic with a cosy setting, and this felt like the perfect world for such a heartwarming story.
There was a classically fairytale element to the plot that I liked, even if at times, it seemed a little reductive and simplistic. Birdie was a really interesting protagonist, and I thought her character development was really well imagined. If anything, I wanted some more of this book, particularly some extra time to see more of Maxwell's evolution as well.
Books with similar vibes - Winterfrost Market by Jenny Sandiford, Bookshops and Bonedust by Travis Baldree, Can't Spell Treason Without Tea by Rebecca Thorne, and The Spellshop by Sarah Beth Durst.
Monroe Wildrose has such a talent for well-rounded characters, romance, and overall vibes.
This story, though closed door, packed a good dose of spice, some fantastic romance, and the wonderful writing Wildrose continues to put out into the world.
Fast paced, cozy, and absolutely stunning, this new addition to the Fairvein novellas did not disappoint.

It has enemies to lovers trope, which I am here for! Imagine living (or visiting) in Fairvien and visit the tailor shop and bookstore to check something cool.
I liked the characters and setting. Good happily ever after at the end. Such a sweet and quick read!
Do you want tension so thick it leaves you breathless and blushing? Things got so heated in the moment I had to put the book down, TWICE and it’s only 100 pages?!?!
If you want a romance story where he’s the romance reader and she reaps alllllll the benefits 😏 then welcome to Fairvien ✨☕️🧵🪡📚
Please please please pick these gorgeous books up and relax as you enjoy the peaceful (but adventurous) tales from this cozy little town.

*I received this book as an arc in exchange for my honest review.
Oh Birdie. She definitely still feels like the oddball out in Fairvein. What she doesn’t take into account is she isn’t giving anyone the time of day to be a friend to. There are to many skeletons in her closet that she doesn’t want to talk about.
As she goes to check out the local bookstore, she expects it’s going to be a wonderful experience. Maxwell, the bookstore owner, had something else in mind. He kicks her out as soon as she shows up. He doesn’t like Birdie and that is very confusing since she’s never talked to him.
The tension between these two is awful and I couldn’t get enough of them. Definitely read this book and see how Birdie’s lash comes to bite her in the ass but who is there to rescue her and help her.
Birdie Settel has moved to the island town of Fairvein to get away from her past and is now their town tailor. She closed up for the evening and headed for a bookstore she had not yet visited. A voice from the back room welcomed her, and Maxwell came out smiling… at least until she removed her scarf and he saw who she was. Then he snarled at her, demanding what she wanted! She hadn’t even met the Fae before, so was not sure why he was so angry at her. He called her by name, so he knew who she was, however. He reprimanded her for pushing customers into buying more than they needed, and he was angry that she would do that and take advantage of the townspeople. Then he demanded she leave his shop.
Birdie somehow thought it was great fun to enjoy a good argument, and she deliberately tried to irritate him with her presence for months afterward, such as following him into the bakery or asking to be seated beside him in the tea shop. Despite her efforts to not get too close to anyone, the town makes her feel welcome. Will they break down the walls she has built around herself? Will she find that even Maxwell will readily help her when her dreadful past catches up to her? Could this be a new start and a new attitude? Or is it just a temporary truce?
I was gifted an ARC of this novella in exchange for an honest review.
Need a cozy book to read while you enjoy a cup of tea? Want a book with banter, romance, and a splash of tension? Want to read a book, but not commit to a 5 book series?
If you said yes to any of these, Tailor Troubles (TT) is the book for you! A stand-alone fantasy romance set in the fictional Fairvein, TT gives you a brief look into the life of Birdie, the town tailor. A newcomer to the town, Birdie struggles to find her place among the community; a task made even more difficult when the local bookstore owner decides he doesn’t like her. The adventure that follows will change her view of life forever.
Wildrose has a knack for weaving stories that leave you craving more—more of the characters, worlds, and quests. If you found yourself wanting more of Fairvein, look at the other novellas in this world written by both her & Emma Steinbrecher.
Okay, on the surface Tailor Troubles is about a renowned tailor who must make an impossibly perfect dress for a mysterious witch in order to save her brother. But on a deeper level it is about found family and personal growth. How the author is able to tell a compelling story about finding your place and healing from family trauma in so few pages is beyond me.
I really loved how real the two main characters were. The extroverted bookshop owner is super judgmental of the closed off tailor who, in his mind, just see's the towns people as dollar signs. The Tailor is fascinated by him because he is the first person to actually be mean to her. Throughout the story she manufactures run-ins with him until he has to start accepting her. But, in a time of vulnerability, he forces her to realize she can rely on the people around her for help.
The story is also cute, cozy, quirky and so unserious at times. It's a perfect cozy fantasy read and I definitely recommend.

Landing at 100 pages, "Tailor Troubles" is a short, cozy fantasy, perfect for all readers. The book has a classic enemies-to-lovers trope with just enough romance before the black-out scene to satisfy most readers. As someone who prefers not having black-out scenes, it felt like I was missing out on some key elements of the relationship development. But as a romance reader, I still enjoyed the flirting and romance that Wildrose sprinkled throughout the book.
I highly recommend reading this book for a light-hearted fantasy read.
This was a cosy fantasy novella, and I thought it was charming. I found myself escaping into the little world that the author created, and it had the cosy, comforting feeling that I was looking for. I usually enjoy any story with a bookish setting, such as a bookshop or library, so that was a bonus too. This is probably ideal for when you're looking for a light, easy read that will lift your spirits a little.
Thank you to Booksprout and the author for a free copy to review.

It was such a sweet and light read that I finished it in one day. The descriptions are beautiful and the language used is very elegant. The characters feel quite genuine and nice to the point that you would wish to live there with them. This book is perfect for someone who is looking for a light, funny and a softly romantic read!💖.

This is book 2 in Monroe’s cozy fantasy series. And not only is it cozy but it is quite humorous! The banter between this couple had me giggling out loud. As well as the surprise at the end!
I am such a pushover for great characters! And i fell in love with these main characters instantly! I loved how they like to push each others buttons to one up the other. The writing is superb as i have come to anticipate from Monroe. If your looking for a short and sweet read, check out this book!
I don't often read cozy stories like this but I am a sucker for stories involving tailors or seamstresses as I come from a sewing background myself! This is a pretty quick read but I fell in love with Birdie and Maxwell and really want more of them! There is so much charm and wit in Tailor Troubles that anyone who reads it will want to continue to turn those pages!
I definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a cozy romantic fantasy. It has a little of everything, even a bookshop you'll wish you could live in. I've loved all my trips to fairvein thus far, but this is definitely my favorite so far. I ate it up in one sitting, Birdie and Maxwell are just *chefs kiss*
What an absolutely delightful novella! I love the world Monroe and Emma have created, and that each novella gives us a glimpse into the lives of two more of its residents. I loved this story, the banter between the MCs, and how the problems seem much bigger than how easy they are to resolve. Love these and can’t wait for more!
Birdie is by far my favorite character - not just in this story, but for my 2023 reading year. Immediately her reactions to Maxwell sucked me right in and I was invested off that alone! The added whimsy and magic was nicely done, making this a story I think anyone will find entertaining.

Adored this short story! I haven’t read the Fairvein tales yet, but instantly fell in love with this setting and the characters within. Obviously I can’t be sure, but I don’t feel as if anything was lost from this story by not having read the first in the series. Looking forward to reading the other novellas
Felt like it was missing a lot of world-building details. There's magic and different species (fae, elves, mushroom women, etc), but it never goes into what the protagonist is, other than a seamstress. What planet with 2 suns are we on? It had a fun vibe, but much too short.
I adore Monroe Wildrose and follow her on Tiktok! This book was highly anticipated, but I absolutely wished this book was twice as long. I wanted more of these characters, it was incredibly cozy though!.

Well she’s done it again! I absolutely loved my third jaunt to Fairvein. It sounds so lovely that I want to live there. How she manages to encapsulate such a story in such a short time boggles my mind but she does it!
3.5 🌟 rounded up. A very cute and romantic closed-door novella. Took a little bit for me to get into it (which, admittedly, not great for a book some 90 pages long), but it got there in the end. Birdie is a great fmc, and the setting of this quaint, cozy tourist town shines. Maxwell is fun, but I found his turn from dislike of to interest in Birdie a little sudden, though I chalked it up to just the pitfalls of this being a novella. Overall, recommended for a quick and comfy read.
I was lucky to receive this as an ARC read. If you are looking for a cozy novella, this will be right up your alley. The banter between Maxwell and Birdie ❤️❤️❤️
Oh my gosh! This book is just way too perfect. I started reading it and could not put it down until I was finished. And now I’m sad because I want to live in this magical world!
These are so cute. Only complaint is that it’s a bit short and that a lot of the story takes place off-page. (I don’t mean the spicy bits, that’s fine since this series is PG, I mean plot points.)
