Oh, the wasted potential!

The plot held so much promise: being stuck 6000m below the surface with something that goes bump in the dark...

Whether or not you fear cramped spaces or the deep sea, the concept of being trapped with no possible way to escape, no way to put a distance between yourself and an intangible fear - it could've been truly frightening.

The art goes back and forth between being realistic and cartoon-ish, the characters are either almost impossible to differentiate between or seem to be drawn by two different artists.
The dialogue rarely adds any explanation to what is happening and feels, most of the time, very forced and unnatural.
The interactions between the various characters are at times so confusing that they don't seem to help the story along at all.

As an "outsider" with no knowledge of the Chinese - Japanese relationship, that aspect of the story is entirely lost on me and unfortunately it feels as if I'm missing out on something.

If the author wished to capture the atmosphere, dialogue, plotting and melodrama of a D grade horror movie than 6000 is an rousing success. But if the author was trying to tell a tale that was both scary and enjoyable to read than 6000 is a failure.
Not a single character acts like a human being only horrid cardboard cut-outs that struggle to be even mildly entertaining, save yourself the time watch a j-horror movie (of any quality) that takes place in a tight space and you will have satisfied any stimulation that could be derived from 6000.

2.5 stars.

It has a decent introduction but there's a few problems I've noticed throughout the story. First, the expression. Our MC always has either anger or shock expression on his face. I know, this is a horror manga but there's nothing wrong with a smile & a handshake (or a bow) between strangers when they first meet for work, right? Second, the continuation. I caught myself backtracking a few time because I felt that there's a jump between panels and it was not smooth at all. To make it short:

Art: 3/5
Story: 3/5
Character:2/5
Enjoyment: 2/5

I didn't even make it until half of the last chapter. The premise looked promising but the pacing and the dialogue was horrible. I don't know if it's because of bad translation, or if the dialogue is just that bad. I don't think this is worth my time.

TW/CW: body horror, strong language, blood and gore, mentions of suicide.

6,000 meters under the sea lies Cofdeece, a deep-sea residential facility. Sounded cool at first but unfortunately, despite the promising premise, it fails to deliver. There’s no proper explanation, and the characters are also not memorable. It’s such a shame because I've never read an underwater horror manga before. I had high expectations for it because I love the hush-hush operation concept. It's reminiscent of Akira and Resident Evil. I am not sure if I will continue. I am underwhelmed.

This guy is so annoying and the beginning is kinda boring but I guess you have to build the story lmao.

Il ne se passe pas énormément de chose dans ce premier tome, c’est complètement un tome mise en place, mais il se passe suffisamment pour avoir très envie de savoir la suite.

Hmm.. This fits the descriprion of: a great premise, horrible execution. Rushed, underdeveloped, the art is okay, but it's not saving the story.

Just finished the series. Its basically about a haunted deep sea base which had all its crew mysteriously die years ago, and a new crew is trying to investigate what happened and repair the installation. Its not quite as good as a Junji Ito horror comic or a Lovecraft tale, but it resembles both of those rather strongly. I wish the characters were a bit more complex, had multiple face expressions or mental states and didn't have a drop of sweat perpetually lingering on everyone's cheek. They are pretty static. But eh, whatever its a horror manga. I also have some criticisms of the pacing and the nature of the monster(s), but its still worth checking out. I do think it suffers from treading the boundary between eerie and scary too lightly, ending up firmly in neither camp and generates a somewhat confused atmosphere as a result. It is sufficiently creepy and thematically interesting to make me interested though. Oh and I also like how they play with the intercultural tension between the Chinese and Japanese and the territorial waters disputes as a part of the plot.

Interesting start, looks like the people which died three years ago are in some kind of loop and haunting this new crew... well it feels creepy enough
