Love is a foreign language for all of us, but we're learning.

Leana

While running away from a heavy-handed boyfriend, I end up in the car with two callous hitmen. Gentry and Karson take me on a road trip I didn’t know I needed, and I become the breath of fresh air between two brothers who suffocate beneath waves of animosity.

In battles fought and scars earned, we forge a triad of destruction and leave countless bodies in our wake. We just need to ensure we aren’t among them at the end of each day. Easier said than done when our biggest threats may be each other.

Can I escape my past and help these “Kursed” brothers reconcile? Will I succumb to the darkness or cast light on men who walk in shadows? We have 2,700 miles to figure it out.

This dark hitchhiker romance has extreme content. Full list of content warnings on Laurenbiel . com. Please listen responsibly!

About the author

Lauren Biel

Lauren’s stories are often emotionally raw, with lots of twists and turns. She describes her writing as “where light meets dark”, which represents how her witty humor compliments the darkness in every story. Instead of trying to mold her writing to fit in a box, she chooses to be unapologetically herself. While her focus is on Romance with dark elements, subgenre is no constraint for her. The common theme in every book is finding love when you least expect it. She enjoys putting her characters through tribulations, allowing their triumphs to be that much more poignant. Make sure you have your seatbelts secured. It’s always a bumpy ride.

When she’s not working, she’s writing. When she’s not writing, she’s spending time with her husband, her friends, or her pets. You might also find her on a horseback trail ride or sitting beside a waterfall in Upstate New York. She has a pretty normal life, yet her stories are anything but.

After a series of ill-fated events, 24-year-old Leana finds herself behind the wheel of a stolen vehicle. Behind the pain and grime, a tender heart leads her to pick up the Kursicki brothers who are stranded along side the road. What follows is the dark tale of retribution, acceptance, forgiveness, and unexpected love that comes with cross-country trek.

Gentry and Karson were so different yet so similar. Watching them both evolve was fun, but Karson stole the show. Readers are definitely Along For the Ride because there is no clear path to their HEA. Not knowing how it’s all going to play out is nerve wracking and exciting and hot AF.

Lauren Biel is an author that knows how to tap into your dark side and make you love it,but at the same time can make you doubt your sanity.
Because the kind of dark she taps into isn’t something you’re supposed to love….
She doesn’t have a list of triggers for nothing,is all i’m saying.
But if you’ve read that list, and still want to read Along for the Ride, you’d better be prepared for some REALLY DARK sh*t…..

Because this is about a girl that ran away from a stepfather that abused her,and then fell into the evil clutches of a man that abused her even more while hooking her on drugs.
When she managed to run from him,she stole a car,and got into trouble of a whole new level…..
Because she stopped to help a man with car trouble, who turned out to be two men out on a job.
And not just any job…..no,these two were brothers that made a living out of their “hobby”….killing people.
But miracles dó happen, and she does live to see the next day.
She can’t help, but wonder if that’s a good thing, though….because there are still worse things than ending up dead.

Leana,Gentry and Karson became a threesome that seemed to fit perfectly.
They were all broken one way or another by life, but somehow,Leana ended up being the missing piece to make things sort of right between Gentry and Karson.
I’m not going into detail about what was wrong with those two men, because there’s not enough space to tell you.
Besides, you need to get to know these two yourself to see where they come from, how they turned out the way they did.
All i will say is,enjoy the ride,i know i did!!

Twisted but good!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Romance: 💚🖤💙❤️
Heat/Steam: 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📙📘
World building: 🌏🌍🌎🌏
Character development: ☺️😊😁😉🥰
Narrator(s): 🎙🎙🎙🎙
Narration type: Duet Narration

The heroine: Leana - she was nearly eighteen and running away from a broken home. Her stepfather had been doing unspeakable things to her and her mother didn’t believe her. She ran from one end of the country to the other and ended up homeless near a bus station in New York. Six years later, she is addicted to pills and a sex worker. She gets beat from her pimp, Mickey, but thinks the drugs are worth it, because they ease all her pains. Mickey tells her he loves her, and will marry her, but he beats her regularly. Though when Mickey threatens to kill her, Leana runs again.

The Heroes: Gentry & Karson - Brothers and partners (“murder obsessed contract killers”). One of them is a psychopath and one is a sociopath.
Gentry - he was married to a woman he liked at least a little, but when he found her cheating on him with his brother, he was furious and killed his wife. He eventually went to prison for robbery.
Karson - he says he only screwed around with G’s wife because he wanted to kill her while doing it. He had found out that she was cheating on his brother. When they got caught for robbery, he gave up his brother to save himself, he couldn’t do time in a box without going crazy.

The story: Gentry was in prison with Lex from Hitched, he got along well with Lexington because they had the same type of homicidal tendencies. When he got out, he was estranged from his bother. Though he is forced to take a job with his brother because Karson got in trouble while G was in jail and was going to be killed if they didn’t make up for his messy blunder. They end up driving to California to kill some actor who wouldn’t pay his debts. But their car breaks down not long after they are on the road, and they end up hitchhiking and are picked up by Leana.

I grabbed this book because I listened to Hitched, the first book in the series and really enjoyed it. Though, I have to say I am not too fond of books where the main characters are addicts or prostitutes. Also, the heroine is raped and I thought that was unnecessary. Overall, I enjoyed the storyline about the brothers, and I liked the fact that this was a road trip story even though they were murdering people all the way from New York to Los Angeles. It was quite twisted but pretty good. I expected no less after listening to the first book.

This audiobook is told in multiple points of view via duet narration and is narrated by Roxelana Waters, Christian Black and Gregory Salinas. The guys are great, they have the perfect voices for Gentry and Karson. Both have deep, soft voices that sound tough enough to be the two hitmen. I am not too fond of Roxelana’s voice though, I didn’t recognize her name, she may narrate under another name. I have definitely heard her before, and her voice bothers me. It has a whiny quality that I really dislike. Though I did love that this was done in duet narration.

EXCUSE ME THIS WAS SO UNHINGED AND I LOVED IT!!!

Idk who Gentry even is because Karson was the star of the show here 🤭🤭

Chapter 13 🩸
& Chapter 19 🥵
will live in my head rent free

I went into this blind because I saw it was a duet dark romance audiobook free on Hoopla and I AM NOT MAD THAT I DID.

Were some parts absolutely insane? Yes. But, I also laughed a fuck ton. Gentry and Karson were bat shit crazy with the weirdest kinks (especially Karson) but idk... I liked it. And idk what that says about me but what's done is done. 😅

So, okay, I still don't know what to think about this story.

He calls her his little thief. I call her wanderer because she’s taken me to places within me that I’d never have gone into alone, and she’s definitely a thief for stealing both of our hearts.

Leana (24) left home as soon as she turned eighteen because her mother didn't believe her when she said her stepfather was raping her. She ends up on the streets of NYC and it doesn't take long before a dealer to swipe her up and make her his junkie. When she finally makes her escape, she lands in the laps of the Kursed brothers.

Gentry (46, sweet psycho) is fresh out of prison and is forced back into the killing business with his brother, Karson (38, mean psycho), by their boss. Now they're on the road to Cali when their car breaks down. They decide to carjack the next vehicle that comes along - surprise, it's little Leana. Instead of killing her, they decide to keep her. They start their cross country killing and fucking spree. When bad guys try to take Leana from them, they prove just how psycho they both really are. Eventually the trio get a murder mutt and a HEA.
"We need to give this guy a name."
"He already has a name," Karson says. "It’s Murder Mutt."

Honestly, I didn't enjoy this one nearly as much as the other two I've read in this series. This one was more funny than dark to me. Plus, I didn't connect with the characters nearly as much. I liked them, but I wasn't breathing for them! Not like I was for Oaklyn and Ambrose. Anyway, for the first 30% of the book, I skimmed a lot. I was going to get to the sex and see if things improved, and they did. The best parts of the book are the funny things. The sex was hot (and a lot of times gross). Disappointed that they didn't share her until the very end of the book, so that sucks. Lots of people will be triggered, so I'll still list the things I think will bother you below. First a few laughs:
"I once had a dream that I had a baby. I picked up the little thing and ate it."

"Don’t kink shame me, Gentry. I’m not the one who gets off by having their hair shampooed. Now that’s fucking weird!"

TRIGGERS: Rape, blood play, cutting, pseudo-necrophilia, breath play, murder, f*cking on a corpse, stabbing someone while f*cking, chopping off body parts, shoving body parts up people's butts, and probably some other stuff.

AUDIO: I read this the first time and listened the second time. I recommend reading on this one.

PLUS SIDE: the dog doesn't die.

This is the second book in the series that I have listened to on audio and I’m fucking obsessed. Lauren really has some of the best narrators
10/10 recommend listening to them.

I loved this book. I was sucked in from chapter 1. This is a why choose with two brothers who are hitman. You have Gentry who honestly was a little grumpy but pretty fucking sweet and then you have Carson who is fucking insane. Guess which one I liked better???? I always fall for the one who’s the biggest ass 😭😭😭 I just love watching them put up walls and then fucking crack. You have one with a serious breeding kink and the other with a fucking dead bodies kink, I’m sure you can figure out who is who😅😅 they literally balanced each other out perfectly.

Lauren’s FMCs are true ride or dies, like all these girls in her books put up with these men like it’s nothing. SLAY

I loved the dynamic between the brothers. Carson was cracking me the fuck up his humor is so unhinged. And I loved how they were low-key competing with each other “I make her come faster, time it” lmao

AND THE DOG!!! They’re just one big happy family

This series is such a fucking good time !!!!

4.75 - 5 stars!

What a ride! A young woman trying to escape the trauma of her past and the ugly of her present, and two psychotic contract killers trying to clean up a possibly damning mess find themselves thrown together. What ensues is a journey of self discovery, healing, violence, murder, kinky debauchery and a beautiful happy ending that fits them.

Leana has survived more than any young woman should have to live through but even in the face of despair, her strength and tenacity shines through. Gentry and Karson recognize and nurture the darkest parts of her soul and accept her for exactly who she is allowing her to flourish.

"...You like how Gentry fucks you like he loves you and I fuck you like I hate you."

Somehow seeing the dirty and violent parts of life has made Leana accept who Karson and Gentry are even in their most violent and psychotic moments.

"This girl glows with a gray hue around her. And I'm fucking obsessed. What switch is broken in her little head? She might be more like us than she realizes."

Gentry and Karson are brothers and have a lot of animosity between them and their level of trust between them has been shattered. Their pasts aren't pretty and they both have an insatiable need for blood and violence. It isn't until Leana falls into their laps that things start to change.

"She brings out something warm in two very cold killers."

Don't mistake me...these men don't personally change but they do see Leana as something more than another body to add to their count. Gentry is the possessive protector with a breeding kink (among other things lol) and has every intention of keeping the woman that has wiggled her way into his heart. He will literally do anything to keep Leana by his side and un-alive anyone that lays their hands on her.

"Screams of pain have always been music to my ears. The only songs I enjoyed. But now my favorite songs come in the form of those sounds that erupt from her mouth as she comes for me. It's fucking beautiful."

Karson is the most psychotic of the trio and has a laundry list of kinks and disturbing needs. However, even at his most crazy you can't help but fall in love with the man that he becomes when he is with Leana.

"God, I'm starting to like her, and I fucking hate that for me. My little thief. His wanderer. Whoever the fuck she is, she's getting under my skin."

Gentry, Leana and Karson are like puzzle pieces that fit together in the best way. Their relationship may have started out turbulent but it slowly evolves into something that works for their particular brands of crazy. I loved the progression of their whole journey and the steam that went with it. The steamy bits in here were top notch kinky albeit disturbing at times lol.

"You're...fucking...evil." She pants each word with every forward rock of her hips. I pull away, eliciting a frustrated growl from her. "And yet you ride my face like I'm a saint."

Lauren Biel, quite honestly, has written such a dark and twisted story that I loved. LOVED. Along for the Ride was action packed, steamy and incredibly entertaining. If you loved Hitched, then you'll love this one! I sure did and can't wait to read what's next!

**Make sure you mind the triggers as there are many but there isn't a whole lot that triggers me.

This one is a little darker than Hitched in my eyes.

Gentry and Karson are brothers who are very at eachothers necks, Karson has done some fudge up stuff to Gentry.. like fuk his wife, but he was going to kill her, made sure Gen was sentence longer in jail. So yeah, there are not happy brothers, lol. But they still do jobs together, and they won't kill one another. So they have one soon, and that's how they meet Leana. She's been on the streets for about a week after she ran from her boyfriend who abused her.
She robs a car and is driving far, far away from her ex, only to be a nice person and pick up Karson and Gentry, who lie and kidnap her.
Karaon hates her already she's a problem, but Gentry doesn't wanna get rid of her, yet he feels something for her.

So now she's there, kidnapee.. and she had no problem with it she accepted her fate if she died.. well, she dies.. the guys are arguing between themselves to kill her or not. They go on adventures and get to know each other more bond more. It does take Karson a little more time to warm up to her. They do have drama from how Leana react to their kills and an ex and Boss who want them gone.

I listened to this book. I have to start by saying I LOVE Lauren Biel books. I truly enjoyed and loved Hitched. But this one didn’t do it for me….
I like the plot of 2 brothers serial killers and an abused ex drug addict. But I actually highly dislike the characters. I have more sympathy for Gentry since he has more of a character and he is soft for his brother and for Leanna, which only irked me more towards Karson since he doesn’t have the same loyalty for his brother, and no matter why he did it but I do hate that he fucked Gentrys wife and also that he left him to rotten in prison when Gentry told to take the deal he was protecting Karson like always but Karson never felt remorse. As a rule for me I would normally like Karson more since he is the psychopath, but I found him EXTREMELY OBNOXIOUS AND ANNOYING in a way that I couldn’t see humor, there’s a fine line between obnoxious and humor, plus I don’t like how he is not loyal. Leanna is also annoying to me. I was supposed to like her specially since she had such a hard life, but I unfortunately have no sympathy for her either.
So overall I thought I was going to love since I LOVE trouple and love unhinged crazy man, but this one I didn’t.

I don’t know what it is, but I have a hard time feeling anything but contempt for these characters. Biel also includes gratuitous rape scenes in this book (in all of her books, honestly). If that bothers you, this is not the author for you.

Ok, time to rant. 🤠

Leana is such a dumb heifer (and a junkie) that I didn’t even feel bad for her when she got raped. If that tells you anything about how terrible these characters are, consider yourself warned.

Karson is a deplorable, unredeemable character. TBI or not, he’s awful. Necrophilia is not a kink. Rape is not a kink. Biel’s overuse of rape in her books doesn’t even shock me anymore, I’m just disappointed with how casually she throws it around.

Gentry was alright, easily the most likable character here, but still a total simp for his little brother. Their pissing match was boring by 45%.

Biel’s overuse of nicknames repeatedly pulled me out of the story. Thief and Wanderer lost all meaning due to the excessive use. There were also some obvious continuity issues. For example, Gentry went from being in prison for six years to ten years when he’s recounting the story to Leana later.

Look, I thought this was terrible, but I do wonder if I would have liked it more with a different female narrator. Personally, I found the voice of Leana grating; her inflection, very exaggerated pronunciations, and “acting” were overdone and it made me annoyed with Leana as a result. She sounded like she had too much saliva in her mouth while she spoke. It was distracting to the point I’d have to rewind because I couldn’t focus on what she was saying. She was just unpleasant to listen to. I would not recommend the audiobook or this narrator. The book itself is whatever. Unhinged for no other reason than to be unhinged, it’s shock-core if nothing else.

Why does the authors' MMCs always broke

I don't normally like stories about drug abuse, especially if it involves the fmc. The start of this book was pretty dark. The Fmc situation is just horrific. However, the author didn't give any gruesome details, which made it an easy read.

The three-some element was so refreshing. I normally read why choose books where all the men simultaneously like the fmc, but this one, Gentry felt like the main love interest and Karson, was just a maybe. Leana didn't seem to like Karson at all, especially at the beginning.

Gentry-“You’re . . . fucking . . . evil.” She pants each word with every forward rock of her hips. I pull away, eliciting a frustrated growl from her. “And yet you ride my face like I’m a saint.”
He so obsessive and possessive. He never like sharing with his crazy brother. He reads as a wholesome person that kills people. The first chapter show that Gentry is as mess up as his brother.

Karson-he is so nasty, and literally blood thirsty. I mean he licks, drinks his victim blood.
“Here’s my proposition, thief,” I say, trying to catch my breath between words. I can’t run like I used to.
This man is so funny, he added to the story. He is twisted , sadistic and probably crazy. Half of the book he wants to to kill the fmc leana. Not pretending, really kill her dead. How is this man don't have HI?V?Because he's licking drinking too much blood.

Leana-I crawl over to Gentry and sit in his lap. My arms wrap around him in some kind of weird, comforting, sorry-your-brother’s-a-dick embrace. His arms remain at his sides, clearly unaccustomed to comfort.
She was so sweet kind and caring around psychopath and apparently a therapist for two of them. How background story is just horrific, however, the drug abuse storyline almost felt not existence half way in the book. I mean , I don't mind , but the beginning focused so much on the drugs.

FINAL THOUGHTS
I didn't take anything seriously but revenge plotline was so enjoyable. This is my Third book of this author and so far this one is my favorite. To be honest, this followed the same formula of the last 2 books. However the murders and the revenge plot line just speaks to my soul. This book feels dirty like I can actually smell them, which is weird. And probably because of my past traumatic stress of not being rich but I do not like reading books especially when the mmc is broke. The ultimate strength in this entire book is the fmc vagina. It takes a licking and keep on ticking. I like romance books where the female characters get pregnant at end but in this one I hope they never have children.

SpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilersSpoilers

The ending of this book is so twisted and wrong and just so stupid. I almost give up reading it except it happened so fast. She's literally drugged, gang raped by thier boss, guards and exboyfriend. They saved her hours after it happened to then actually have sex with her In the same room she was gangraped. In a sick twisted way they pretty much did that because she thought she was damaged so now she was healed apparently.
NOW WHY I STILL ENJOY THIS BOOK!!
I need to be studied.

P.s I'm pretty sure that they have a sexual transmitted disease.

One of the MMCs was more troubled over the idea of hurting an attack dog, than he ever was over killing/slitting the throat of a woman.

Actually, he ENJOYED killing the woman.

He killed a woman, his brother's wife, at the beginning of the book.

Okay listen…should I have LOVED that this story involves a MMC who is twice her age, holds her against her will, and may or may not have a younger brother who is extremely UNHINGED that also takes a liking to our FMC?! Maybe not BUT I sure did!!

This story is crazy, toxic, SPICY, suspenseful, and is heavy on the breeding kink!! It’s a fun ride but always remember to check your content warnings before reading!!🫶🏻

Gunter and Karson and Leana, what a mix, and what I like about the story so much was the characters, their very vivid personalities, their "ordinariness, " regular folks -- ok two of them socio/psychopaths -- from that side of the tracks and all of them possessing degrees of darkness. I liked portrayal of the men so devilishly, so male, a kind of gruffness in thought and behavior. If I read another billionaire romance ... And this what not that.

What it had was intrigue, suspense, questionable morals, a resilient heroine, and two almost irredeemable guys. Not even a thought to being on the right side of the law or morality, and yet... I was here for it. Steam level was good, though gotta admit I miss more of the sexy times in Hitched. There was more focus on the plot line, true, but the writing style without the welcome diversion of spice made the story feel slow at times.

At times, the writing was very heavy in prose, a lot of inner thought, and sparse dialogue. Paragraph upon paragraph of text. Writing with a more showing style and this book would have not only felt more progressive, but better held my attention. Again, I liked the story, quite original and not the usual, overwritten affair, but I will admit that reading everyone's thoughts, thought processes, and actions was distracting to my attention.

I would still recommend this -- and I do -- if you believe everyone, even perceived bad people, are entitled to a happy ending; you appreciate dark humor because I was chuckling at times around the interactions and thoughts; and you like your heroes, well antiheroes, corrupted, depraved even, yet complemented by a relatable, strong heroine with a bit of sass.

Wow, this book is pretty messed up, but I was definitely entertained! Gentry and Karson, our hero brothers, are two hitchhikers who enjoy killing, so expect a lot of violence & graphic murders. Leana is a desperate young woman on the run from an abusive stepfather and ex who got her hooked on drugs. I preferred Gentry, but this book was probably better with the addition of Karson.

This book is NOT for the faint of heart, so please be mindful if you choose to read it. I do kind of wonder what went on in Lauren's mind to inspire this kind of story.

As soon as I started wondering when the spice was going to hit, it arrived. Most of the time I'd love to be the heroine in a romance novel, but I would not want to be Leana, lol. Even if I never worked...

Thanks to BookSirens for the ARC! This has in no way affected my review or rating.

Listen y’all this should come as no shock. This book was fucking FIRE 🔥
I haven’t read a why choose by Lauren yet so I had no idea what to expect but excuse while I wipe the drool from my mouth 🤤

If you’re looking for a good, wholesome love story. Look no further than this sweet, Christian romance. Love at first sight, beautiful first dates, the sweetest little moments between the most innocent people ever. I fell in love with these characters and just how absolutely inspirational their relationship was.

Actually all of this is bullshit 🥲
Check triggers cuz you’re in for one helluva ride 💀💀💀

Who knew a book about 2 hit men, and a girl who’s been abused and is hooked on drugs before being kidnapped, could be so heartwarming and beautiful 🥹🖤🥰

▪️MFM (why choose with brothers)
▪️Touch her and die 💀
▪️Serial unaliving
▪️Age gap (20ish years)
▪️Revenge
▪️Off page CSA

Gentry is loving, sweet and selfless and would do anything to make Leana happy. Karson is definitely more crazy and loves Leana in his own selfish way. But Leana sees them as being the best of both worlds, so why choose 🤷🏻‍♀️🤪

I really enjoyed this! I had fun reading it. I couldn’t put it down. I read it in less than 24 hours. The spice was very hot! It was a great dark hitchhiker romance. I liked Hitched too but I liked this one even more!

This is my all time favourite book ever. I absolutely loved every single point. I laughed, shouted and nearly cried (I’m not a very emotional person) Leana is probably the strong, smart mouthed best fmc I’ve ever read! I want to say Gentry is a gentle giant, but he’s still got a very dark streak. Karson… that man is just something else and my toxic trait is still being team Karson. The perfect amount of spice and action! Please check trigger warnings Lauren doesn’t write books for the faint hearted.

This is my favourite book of this series so far I’ve read 3 of them, I loved the brothers and how unhinged they were! I loved how one gave the illusion of being the “nice guy” while the other was unapologetically unhinged. The spice was so good 🥵 and if I could dive into a book to be the one between these two I definitely would have 👌the kinks explored were so messed up and fun to read and I am yet to read anything like it.

It’s dark but then if you know this authors books you know what you are getting 🤷🏻‍♀️

I kinda of loved both Gentry and Karson, hitmen at their best, not assassins though 🤣🤣 our FMC has been through so much and it continues but she now has her two men to offer her therapy (by that I mean unaliving certain people lol)

Onward to the next die or ride 🤭🖤🔪🩸

A wholesome story of two brothers mending their relationship through random acts of kindness including helping a homeless woman get off drugs and rescuing a dog 🥰
