Christmas has arrived in London, and for the first time in two years Rosemary Lillywhite has much to celebrate.
Her relationship with Max is moving in the right direction, her brother and best friend are hopelessly in love and as happy as they've ever been, and the family's textile business is expanding into America.
Even her mother, Evelyn, has come to the city to celebrate with a lavish party at the Woolridge & Sons offices.
Rosemary should have known it was all too good to be true.
Before the festivities can even begin, one of her father's employees turns up dead, she'll have to solve another case before the holidays are ruined!
Book twelve of the Mrs. Lillywhite Investigates historical murder mystery series. Are you ready to escape to the roaring twenties? For fans of Beth Byers, Leighann Dobbs, Lee Strauss, and golden age mysteries.
A light, cozy 1920's British detective mystery with a female sleuth but no swearing, graphic scenes, or cliffhangers.
Emily Queen is a writer of historical fiction, including the Mrs. Lillywhite Investigates cozy mystery series. She lives in Maine, USA with her cat, dog, and too many books to count. Oh, and if you’re not careful, she might kill you off in one of her novels…
I read and reviewed the eleventh book in this series that centers around Halloween. I liked A Corpse for Christmas better. Rosemary Lillywhite doesn't expect to be solving a murder during the holidays, but that's what happens when one of the employees of Woolridge & Sons is found dead. This book can be read as a stand alone since the author does a good job of giving backgrounds on the major characters. I especially liked the choice of Johnathan Palmer as a character's name since my son's name is Johnathan! Rosemary is an interesting sleuth and she helps her boyfriend chief inspector Max. This book has the Christmas spirit which I enjoyed even though I read it in January.
This is a sweet cozy Christmas mystery. In this latest installment, Rosemary and Max must figure out who killed a man at her family’s factor before her Uncle Harry is convicted of murder. It’s Christmas and a storm is brewing making the investigation more difficult. The whole family pitched in to save Harry and the holiday.
It’s a classic British cozy mystery. The clues to the mystery were presented well so you could figure it out. But it’s not so obvious that you guess right away. It’s a fast read and very engaging. It can be read as a stand alone. I enjoyed it and look forward to the next installment.
I read cozy mysteries almost exclusively. I have throughly enjoyed the Mrs. Lillywhite books however that will end with this one! As a Christian I am very careful to choose only clean written books with no homosexual situations in them. All of these books have been great until this one. Sadly this book included characters I wasn’t comfortable with. This is the last of Mrs Queen’s books I will read.
I loved this story. The characters are more beloved to me in each story told. The plot is straightforward and the premise is discovering you killed the man in charge of R&D in the main character's father's plant and why. The answers were both simple and quite macabre. I highly recommend this book and the entire series.
Rosemary spends much of this book reevaluating her relationships as her family surprises her at every turn. The plotting doesn’t disappoint, although I confess to guessing the culprit early on, and the character interactions are a pure delight. Ready for the next episode.
Fear and family Always A great story to read No not too complicated Land of I love a loving family In the story They they Go different places End Description of these places Outstanding
These are silly but so enjoyable!! If you start at the beginning you get to follow the entire story, or you can read them as stand alone books, and still enjoy them!
I loved seeing Rosemary seeing her Mother in another light, and loved seeing another Evelyn. Good mystery, quite unexpected. I already want to read the next one.
2.5/5 STARS! This is a short & easy murder mystery in a historical British setting. The writing is easy & fun & I liked the characters. Definitely simple to follow and a great lightweight read.
